Afternoon everyone !!
All of my spark plugs are almost all reconnected. Blood draw last Mon and another MRI in mid Feb. I thought I had my vertigo under control so Sat. went out to lunch with 2 friends. Guess not. I pulled a Betty ( not as bad as hers) while helping 1 of the ladies get her groceries inside. Fell up her front steps. I should have cancelled but have 2 times already - didn't want them thinking I didn't want to go.
Susan I couldn't agree more with LK - just keep up your exercises. Did they ask you to use a stationary bike ? I found that really painful in the beginning but just kept going. Do you have staples or stitches. I had staples and they sent me home with a tool to take out the staples.. My GP then called to check on me and of course he and Warren got talking hunting. Next thing I knew the doc was coming here to hunt and take out my staples.
Judy I am very excited for you -. 2 marriages this year, right ? Debbie''s right about Bonnie. She truly is a wonderful woman who is owned by her 2 inside dogs. Mr B and John John.
OH Betty stop that talk about KFC. We used to get it when we are the road with shows. My mouth is drooling for some.
Going to post before I lose this post.
Dianne and her TH
Best/Worse/What did I Learn today?visit with friends old/new..join in?
Dianne, we have been missing you, worry about you, lordy girl, we are two of a pair, not good news about the fall but at least no broken bones.have you been getting these frigid but sunshine days?thundering heard will be out looking for groundhogs tomorrow lol
Karen , precious child, perhaps by the weekend she will be home?
Debbie, I agree about the eats at the little cafe down the street from Bonnie, didn't leave hungry that's for sure.
Karen - Loli is adorable, and looks so peaceful.
Judy - I remember that meeting! Was it on Skype?
Dianne - please, no more falls! My goodness, bubble wrap is being ordered for you, too!
A stationary bike? I'd be lucky to get onto one, let alone pedal it. I thought I was supposed to get PT 3x a week, but no one has scheduled me for it. I suppose being rural makes a difference? I've actually gone backwards - I was feeling more flexible, but since my jarring standing up from the couch on Sunday evening, I've stiffened up. Just trying to do my exercises is more than I can do. My spirits are fine, and I'm keeping busy, but physically I'm not doing well. I'm sleeping more, and better, thanks to the new meds I'm on. Bob's learning how to help me and we're both learning what I need.
I know, given time and rest, I will get through this and be better than before. Sometimes the journey is tougher than expected, but it is a journey, and I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I will get through this, too, and am looking forward to gardening, sewing & camping this summer.
Susan, from GA is coming in July, and we WILL celebrate Christmas & go camping too, while she's here. :-)
Did someone ask about stitches vs staples? I have 30 staples, and they're slated to be removed on Feb 6th. It looks like I have stitches too? Maybe they're dissolving ones?
Ouch lots of staples..I'm like you, want to be better before I give things time to heal..oh what fun you will have with Susan..we will be envious of you both celebrating Christmas in nice weather.
Couple of cousins want me to organize a family gathering and make it Christmas in July, doubt that will happen this year.
Dianne, mouth watering like you for Kentucky fried chicken, mstormimg so through a pizza Greg made for me in the oven, will have to do for today
Betty- I told you that I took a small fall in the hospital the day I was discharged, right? It was a small jolt - shook me up more than anything. I was doing pretty great, until Sunday. Of course I get people telling me that everyone heals differently, and this is so true. I wish it were steady, and not so much like a rollercoaster.
Susan I got to have my Physio at home because I was rural. There was no way I could get into Ktown 5 days a week.
It was me who asked about staples/stitches.
Great news Karen about your GGB.I love her name. Makes me think about Gone With the Wind where it seemed all the ladies had beautiful names.
Still a light snow on and off all day.We are back into the luge run down the lane. If you get your tires in the ruts you are fine. With the sun everything melts all day then freezes overnight. Long Cedar Run is very risky but there is just myself and 1 other couple who live FT on the lane here. The young couple can work from . home on the days schools are closed.
Just finished with my cheerleader attire now will change into my doorman/.woman uniform. You would think I had lost my mind when the TH eats. Diesel has 5.5 pills and Duke 3 to take for Lyme. I stand there cheering away all the while watching them to make sure the right pills are consumed by the right dog. If I don't cheer them on they won't eat at all. Yes, they have their paws wrapped around my heart. The vet can soon open a new wing named the Diesel, Duke, Chaos and Dianne Wing. Just joking but the TH gets a private room when we have to go there. lol
Well Betty you have my mouth all ready for KFC. I do have some frozen sausage rolls which I think will fit the bill. Do you have a Country Traditions near you Betty? Everything is frozen from soup to nuts so all you have to do is heat it up. They have amazing desserts. I bring them home and divide them up into individual portions. One of the clerks warned me about the Turtle/Dark Choco dessert. I should have bought 3 or 4 of them.
Enjoy your evening everyone.
Dianne and her TH.
Dianne - I put a call through to my knee surgeon's office. I called yesterday, with no response, so called & left another voice mail.
I know that each province has different health care processes and procedures, so don't know what our rural processes are. I was given a staple remover to pass on to my Home Care worker, and the paperwork stating that they are authorized to remove them. Thank goodness, because I sure don't want to be the one to do it!!!
I am totally amazed how little scarring Ben has on his head and forehead. I don't remember how many staples he had, but LOTS!
tomorrow I will leave work early and visit Ben at the SNF for his birthday. He doesn't know I'm coming. I have balloons, plates, napkins & cups bought, I'll pick up cake and ice cream tomorrow.
Susan, don't rule out a stationary bike. They are lower and more open so MUCH easier to get on then regular bike.
Paperwork and painting to do so off I go...
Glad to hear Ben's doing so well for scarring, etc. Happy Birthday Ben!!!
We don't have room for a stationary bike - we barely have room for me to get around on my walker. We haven't moved into the den yet.
Good morning, ladies!!
Morning everyone, Happy Groundhog Day..seems our groundhog said spring is soon coming..how about yours?
Happy Birthday to Ben Pat..he will be thrilled to see you, here is hoping your weather is cooperating..did he ever get a phone? I'll take a slice of that cake Lindakay made for him..mouth watering.
Starting to clear, had white outs earlier but say that they will move out of our region this afternoon but calling for 15cm of snow tomorrow and more Sat/Sun so guess it's a good thing I've much to keep me busy with.
Susan, can't believe they give you staple remover, you would think whoever will take them out would have one ore packaged and sterilized ..
Dianne, no kfc again today..never heard if country concessions..is it a chain?
Today I decided I'd fancy me up, put a long dress with a jacket on after doing my hair, will do my nails shortly..thought that might take some of the hum drums of being cooped up away
I woke up to lovely blooms this morning, Ziggy noticed first..stem is about 3' tall, top heavy for sure, Ziggy has been playing with earth and toppling it over so had to find a new place to set it.
Made some muffins, decided id make just 6 because I'm the one that eats them all lol
Off to take spaghetti sauce out of the freezer for supper, have 3/4 of a pizza sitting there for lunch
Rested my hour so time to head diwnstairs for the next hour..
Hmmm sun just started to shine, Rays hitting pillows on the couch, perhaps I should put my head down and present the heat from the Rays coming in are florida beams hitting me while on the beach 😜
Laughing at Ziggy. lol Be careful don't let him chew it....poison for kitties.
Have a light snow....sun shining but I am dragging.
Betty, that is a beautiful bloom! Ziggy looks very interested.
Our groundhog in Pennsylvania said we will have 6 more weeks of winter.
It's out of his reach now Debbie, still 2 more blooms to ipooen..can't save the bulbs on these can you?
Linda Kay gave me one I think 3 years ago in the Santa Warren exchange. I have gotten it to bloom all 3 years....til this one. The leaves grew....but no blooms. I cut it back after blooming....and put it in a cold dark area of the basement. Bring it up in Fall....and usually takes off with the leaves and then blooms. Got BIG leaves this year that was it.
aw Lolli's laughing!
Does anyone here ever go into the Chat Room? it's open today
Look at that smile..too adorable
Bet she will be a great grandma's girl
Karen she is just so adorable!!!! Thank the Lord for His grace....
Beautiful baby!
I tried the chat room several years ago, Susan. It all seemed to go too fast, and was hard for me to follow, so I just gave up and haven't gone back.
Deb
Yes, we got Ben a used (free!) flip phone that is indestructible and put in ONLY a few names to make it easier. We still have his good phone & old number and are paying for overlapping services until he can progress to point of using his good phone again without dropping or losing it!
Lolli is such a little cutie!
Morning all,
It's a blizzard of a day..usually like going to Barrie on Fridays but unless it clears later I'm housebound but I am making a list of things I'd need/want, there is a difference right?
Pat glad you and family got to celebrate with Ben, perhaps he heard someone talk about going home and thought it was he. Is he a phone grabber??
Deb what is new in your neighborhood?
Karen, does it look like Lorelei will get to come home this weekend?
Tummy is hungry, maybe a coffee and muffin will hit the spot..
Betty your blizzard has arrived. I was watching CITY news and it looked like your area really got hit. As long as it is not ice I'll be happy.
The lake is frozen completely now - or some fools are out there with their trucks and boom boxes. I'll walk the lake down to the 1 house I am taking care of this winter tomorrow.Just shaking my head ... a brand new build and the owner is overseas for the next 2 years. The place is stunning so will have lots of people who ice fish coming up and taking a look.
Well I had a really great dinner tonight - a lemon, cranberry muffin and a glass of choco milk. lol
Pat how is Ben adjusting to his new digs ? It's so hard when you work and then have to drive a distance to visit your loved one. Take care of you too.
Well the TH is announcing to the people fishing on the lake not to come too close to us. The guys who fish daily here have very different tastes in music. A couple are still into heavy metal, of course CW and a few classical. They take turns blasting their tunes for all to hear. The TH do not like CW and bark when they hear it.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne and her TH
Dianne, your weather alert came too late lol
It was gorgeous this afternoon , I called thebpfaric shop in Barrie and she said it was a sunshine day, debated about going but decided instead of waiting till tomorrow and wasting a day I would venture out..did all my errands, even stopped at Kentucky fried chicken so I'd not have to cook, lovely drive to Moonstone, could see sky change but thought it was likely night skiing lights, well it was like entering twilight zone, you could not see an inch in front of you, couldn't take to the side of the road because it would be too easy to be hit, did mega "oh my God's" then when I hit this side of Coldwater it was c,ear..wasn't good at all, white knuckle drive..glad to be home!!! Storm must have hit here just after I left, I'd say there is almost a foot that has fallen since 2pm, see its started again...big sigh.
Guess the Thundering heard isn't used to seeing people...they are pretty close to the shoreline aren't they?
Bought a new kettle, think I'll join you with the last of my muffins and hot chocolate as well..have marshmallows in mine..yummy
Betty most of the ice huts are in the middle of the lake. There is what we call "the village" and there are about 6 - 8 huts right where the best fishing on the lake can be found. We have a lot of unemployed people here so fishing is a way to help feed your family.
Dianne
Likely like the huts here at the shoreline in town, it's more a social thing than fishing to feed family. I'm amazed at what some of these huts look like and what is in them...can almost live in them, all the conveniences of home.
Be nice if the fisherman cooked and shared some with you so you wouldn't have to just have muffins. Lol
The guys ice fishing will soon be knocking on the door with just caught and cleaned cold water perch. In return I make them a pie, cookies or cupcakes. Warren and I started doing this about 10 years ago. We were just being nosy and checking out the huts. You are right Betty some of these huts are all tricked out.
LK how far are you from Mission Tx ? I was just watching Live PD on A&E and they were watching for undocumented immigrants.
Last call for the TH.
Dianne
Like most hobbies, not cheap..I had a girlfriend who ice fished all winter long, native woman, come spring she would have the best tan, even surpassed the tans from snowbirds coming home.from Florida.
Barb, Ann's granddaughter didn't have her tonsils out, she had a bit of a cold and with her health issues doc wouldn't take a chance...
Tad of a headache, keeping me up..tempted to get up, bathe and hot drink, maybe then I can crawl back in bed and sleep a few hours.
Dianne, mission, TX. Is 266 miles from us. But with us living right on the border of Mexico, we see illegal s go through here daily. People can't leave anything of value outside, as it will be gone.even though we have 1000 border patrol agents here, it is not enough.
Morning,
Think its a lost cause Lindakay, regardless what's done you can't stop boats, planes etc. To stop immigrants..guess one just has to be very cautious, know you've had a lot of damage re vehicle but not known who did it right?
Storming again, got out and shovelled steps and pathway to entrance to craft room, not a whole lot of shovelling, wanted to clean off my car so when Andrew got her to plow I could move it and he could giceppve it a good once over, banks sure are getting high.
Enjoying a coffee, thinking of what I can make for supper, even thinking of getting the bread machine out, need to check if I've the right ingredients first...wouldn't a stew go good today but means I'd have to go to foodland for stewing beef, might do
Have the paper doll quilt ready to hand sew binding but a little gaffer has other ideas
No, we never found out who did the damage.
I made the crockpot roast Thursday. Oh my gosh! That was so good. It has been awhile since I bought a roast. I bought a plain butt roast, 3 & 1/2 pounds. It was $14.00!
Ziggy looks quite comfy.
All of Betty's quilt works are pre-loved!
I actually bought petite sirloin steak this week for $2.98! DS broiled it for dinner. Times like this I wish we had more freezer space than our little above frig freezer.
Betty, that came out so nice.
Problem is Pat they have sales so often that I think its better o buy as needed.
Made it to foodland, terrible out there, blizzard but only had to go about a mile
Making a pot of stew is not cheap, by the tome you add cabbage, turnip, beans and carrots.. know 1 pkg of stewing beef wouldn't be enough so bought 2
Stews on, just finished if kfc, means it's lay down time or go play downstairs
I guess I don't trust we will find the sales often enough! I pretty much only buy beef on sale. Probably 95% of what I buy is pork sirloin or chicken.
Good Day, Ladies!
oh Pat, you're right - baaaaaaaad Kitty!! lol
Today's a good day - pain managed, and made lunch for Bob & I - not to worry, I didn't overdo lol Just microwaved soup, and bread & butter, and coffee.
Looking forward to Monday when they take the staples out :-)
