Betty - I knew it was more than a "simple" concussion! Please take care of yourself......!!!
Pat - blessings & prayers are still being said for you
Hi - I'm back home now. It was an interesting time. My pain wasn't under control until Tues midnight so it was too early for me to go home on Wed am.plus I had to cut short my physio on Tues due to pain - almost passed out.
They decided that I could go home on Wed. Just before I went to see the Occupational therapist & physio, I fell in the bathroom. Didn't hit my head or twist/hurt either knee - just shook me up & bruised my butt
They, at first , cancelled my physio and said I couldn't go home until tomorrow. After constantly checking my BP, etc, they decided that I was fine and clear headed and re-scheduled me for OT & PT, and I passed with flying colours (after napping for 2 hours and taking pain meds). So, Bob came at 2pm, learned how to give me my tummy needles and the hospital gave me some crutches, and now I'm home, safe & sound I'll be extra careful for the next 6 weeks, and do my exercises.

Best/Worse/What did I Learn today?visit with friends old/new..join in?
I second that.... REST! Like MD said, it's already too late if you GOT tired, need to stop BEFORE you get there so you can speed up your recovery.
Best way to rest BEFORE getting tired is to set time limits. If you feel tired after an hour, set timer for 45 minutes. you get the idea.....Set a timer for small increments of work and stick to it. It is the rest that will make you well.....
Glad to see you are home Susan. Take it slow and steady and you will be doing a jig in no time.....
Morning all,
Called for blizzard conditions this morning but I think it might have passed us by,moping it has
Susan, glad you are home, you will heal much quicker under Bob's care
Barb, great suggestion re timer, will do
Did you and your friend get to craft yesterday?
Debbie, knew it was a camera, pleased you will have a new one, photography is your lifeline..enjoy

Good morning,
Susan, welcome home....and do not over do it. Stay on top the pain meds because it is hard to get comfort after they wear too far off.
Betty....listen to Barb and the ladies...they know. My niece has concussion syndrome from having several bad ones. She is only 25 and has a horrible time in life. Memory, balance...all that is bad!! I do not think she can drive now either.....so please please.....listen!
I had been paying off my credit card and got it low enough I could handle putting camera on it. It was a "bundle package" which came with extra goodies (lens, battery, charger, case and 2 cds to learn). I have never used a camera with detachable lens to change for different shots. SO....it will be something to learn.
Plus as long as I had been looking at this...price way to high. I got it on sale for $200 cheaper! I am intimidated by it....so will go slow and steady!
Yes supposed to get a wicked snow Buffalo way today.....not sure what it will do here. Had some grapple in the grass (little snow balls) and the wind is picking up...but no snow as yet.
Stay safe and warm!! Barb did you do your lanterns?
Debbie
Good morning everyone.
Glad to see you posting Susan. Listen to your Dr.'s orders and don't over do it.
Sounds like quite the camera Debbie, can wait to see what pictures you take, hard to believe the camera will improve what you already take. Always a bonus when it's on sale and a lot of goodies included, always my excuse to buy a new sewing machine.
I think since I am gradually loosing my eyesight....and some things I can't see until I get them loaded on the computer (like the detail from the house you took me to see with the ship and swans) I enjoy it more. And I find different cameras are better for different things. This one I can do video and photos and load direct to computer with wi-fi. (I hope) Even my phone screen is so small for me.
SO with new contacts and camera...I hope to improve! lol
Can see you smiling from here..hope it's everything you want it to be.
Storm is brewing here, won't send it to you and Dianne but it might have a mind of its own.
I have scripts to pick up at pharmacy in town, not a rush to pick up so thinking as I'll be in all day I might as well get back into my jammies..we will see
Yikes, quite the blizzard going on..
Debbie, watching a show called 'Abandoned' about towns and places just abandoned on Route 66, kind of waiting for cornfields near Ben, sure do miss her, don't think she knows how many times my thoughts are on her.
I wish she was around. Did you ever look to see if she has a facebook? Maybe she would with her kids/grandkids to keep in contact.
Debbie - I must have missed something - wish WHO was around?
Bev, Debbie and I visited her and Scotty when we were on one of our Roadtrips..
A sweetheart for sure..
Debbie are you getting this blizzard? If it keeps up I will not go to Barrie in the morning.
Susan, you behaving?

My friend came up yesterday and we spent five hours just gabbing about everything. We solved all the USA problems and then solved all those around the world. It was so good to see her. Hadn't since Thanksgiving. We went through all the pieces of the lanterns and she decided she wanted to spray paint hers. So she took the wooden pieces with her and she will be back up next week. In the meantime I will get all my pieces painted. To be perfectly honest, my heart was with my brother and I just didn't feel like doing it then.....
Stacy and Jake came for lunch again today. She has decided that as long as she is working from home, Friday will be lunch with Mom day. She only has an hour but it is so nice to be able to catch up with her and hear about the boys, This is a good thing.....
I am almost finished with page three on the cat. Just have a few whiskers to stitch and then I will take a photo. Most likely tomorrow.
~~~~ Waving to all and sending prayers for those in need.
Dianne - hope all is well. Deb - have fun with camera. Betty - set the timer.....
I had a very fast message from Dianne. I asked if she was ok
She is fighting migraine and vertigo....was off to rest.
Get better soon Dianne.
Glad you had a good visit Barb.
Ben had the cognitive testing, 2 different ones. The MoCa test he did at entry to the SNF he got a 17/30. Yesterday he got 24/30, significant improvement but still impaired. He also had another test for the first time, RIBA-2. It will be much more informative and sensitive to change. The SNF will have to be able to demonstrate change if they hope to continue to have approval for his stay from the insurance and Medicare. I'm sure that's why they invested in the cost of the RIBA-2 test. It helps pinpoint which of the 10 areas need the most improvement.
I am headed up to see him tomorrow, Monday I have too much business stuff to attend to.
Good Morning!
Betty, I'm glad you got to the Doc. Hope to heavens you WILL heed to all the advise.
Rest, rest and rest some more...I know this is difficult for you but you can do it.
Oh I love the idea of the alarm clock. Ha ha I have taken to the clock watching for different things, it's really just a matter of setting up a routine rest time and making yourself do it.
Susan so glad your knee surgery is done... Nice you got to get home a day early.
Barbara, I'm glad your friend was able to come and visit!!
I am glad she was there to be with you in this sad time.
...all I can tell you, and I already know you do, Cherish forever in your heart the love you shared and know he is another Angel to watch over you.
Your Cat sounds like it's coming along nicely! Do look forward to seeing how far you have worked!
Pat, have a good visit with Ben, hope all is going well...Easier said then done, but I hope you are taking time for yourself as well.
Oh Dianne, so sorry to hear the vertigo is acting up...I thought you were gone for a while too long, hope and pray it subsides quickly. Sure hope the Thundering Herd are being have and Gentle with you., well and also someone is helping you out.
DEBBIE, DEBBIE...I SURE HOPE THE NEW LENS HELPS YOU OUT A BIT.
AWE, HOW WONDERFUL A NEW CAMERA, YEP THOUGH IT WAS THAT. oH MY YOU'LL HAVE SO MUCH FUN. WELL yOU HAVE MORE PATIENCE THAN I. LOL, LOVE TO PLAY WITH THE DIFFERENT LENSES, BUT I GET FRUSTRATED CHANGING LENSES AND END UP LOSING, OR IN MY HASTE GET BLURRED PICTURES...ALL IN THE MATTER OF HAVING FUN, CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR NEW PHOTOS!
GENTLE HUGS MY FRIEND.
Deb, waiving hello...sure hope the mating takes, lol sometime third times the charm? Think about you a lot, especially when it rains. Well, it's been nice to not have rain, but a few flurries.
So funny Betty and Debbie...I still think of you 2 driving through corn fields to find Bev!! Sometime I even think to say hello as I drive by, hahaha, you got to admit that was one of the BEST stories shared on this thread!!
I do miss Bev as well, also think of her and hope and pray all is well! She hasn't made a post since meeting her gentlemen friend. All we can do is hope and pray her life has been wonderful and this and any/everyone is treating her well.
and I do too, miss her fabulous photos!
Hey Linda Kay, Thanks, I am glad to be back!! I've missed talking with you all.
wow, love to hear you have such nice weather...lol 27* here today.
I do intend to run to JoAnnes or hobby lobby today! Very exciting have a small list.
Yikes, so much to get- first thing is an embroidery hoop for the new machine. Bummer it didn't come with one, but guess i'll have fun checking them out.
As far as writing Betty, no not really writing, but read all my journals, they are loaded with notes of this and that...Stories I've already written or waiting to be told. So, I've organized them according to year even jotted the year according to memory. And the reason for this is at least if anyone were to ever want to know my history it's pretty much all in one place!
Well and here is a fun story! Not long after, Barbara post on the Joy letters and scissors I made with my Scroll Saw, lol I found in one of the notebooks my first piece...which was the Birdhouse for Liz. ROFLOL, burst into laughter as I described how DH had cut the pieces for me using "some" kind of saw!! LOL.
Another note tid bit, was the Snow letter I did for Linda Kay...the first real project I did with my scroll saw, for Santa Warren Christmas exchange. ROFLOL, but not really, I should have been embarrassed by those but I was bursting with pride at being able to cut, lol Linda Kay, one of these days I'll cut some new snow flakes that are much nicer! OH my gosh, even mentions how I lost one of the flakes!! lol, Actually had found it, however Peg found it too and promptly chewed it to sliverines!
What I have not found is my manuscript of My Autobiography. The last time I wrote that was in 2006, I abandoned it after Carol & Carole passed, one of the last ringle jingle conversations was the gathering of info of People we had lived with, more of a memory jogger and for kind of to know I wasn't "making" these things up! I had read to her what I've written up to that point and she had encouraged me to write every detail no matter how bad...Anyway, It has now been 10 years!
So, you all had mentioned Anniversary years and so I say Betty Happy Anniversary!! Around May of this year, you and I will have been friends for 10 Years!! I still remember our first meeting. I had been so very lost in mind and spirit.
Came across your thread, lurked until I finally braved enough to send a d-mail.
You encouraged me to open up and visit in the Thread! And then we had a very nice verbal conversation via ringle jingle, and the rest is history and your stuck with me!! Thank you so very much for taking that time. I love you Betty.
Oh gosh, got all sentimental, drawn to tears at the memory...got go get composed
and eat something!
lol hey i'll be back again...
enjoy the day, Armwraps to all.
Always love seeing your posts Judy. Remember meeting you in Frankenmuth along with Betty & Linda. Sure would be fun to repeat that day...but with better weather.
Judy, That is the exact problem I am having with this camera! If I am shooting something that doesn't move (flowers) I will be good. But the birds or animals or people.....I want it NOW and by the time I am getting the camera lens on and settings....the moment has passed. I am trying but so discouraged. I think the camera is too expensive and complicated....for me to save it just for outings I can do a set up tripod shoot on. Those are few and far between....I like that spur of the moment. SO....thinking this thru big time.
At work on break, I had checked both, power steering fluid and oil, both were low. I had the oil I needed poured and checked, yep enough. So last night I bought more oil to have on hand & power steering fluid. Walked out to the Cherokee and went to pull the hood release inside the car and it came off in my hand! It was too dark to do anything last night and I just parked it.
Went out this morning, it had been connected to pulley of some sort with wires, the wires gave up. I will ask my brother if he can fix it, I have to GET TO where it connects and I can't seem to figure it out.
Soooooo I get to literally dig out the van from the snow and hope I don't get it stuck. I will make it to Sunnyside today to see Ben, one way or another. Thursday is his Birthday and I want to be sure to bring him a treat, gift and card TODAY in case something happens and I can't take off work early on Thursday.
Just another day in Paradise. I'm really getting tired of Murphy's law.
Afternoon everyone,
Judy, 10 years, don't know why I thought it was more like 12.. We all sure have seen each other's families grow, seen lots of ups and lots of downs, lots of sharing..lucky to have each other in our lives..I can just see you laughing and crying while reading those journals..will post a photo of clay pots I saw, reminds me of the ones you and Liz gave me, still have them in back outhouse on display.
Debbie, are you considering returning the camera? Perhaps a new one but one that is much easier to operate, although I think if you kept it and worked with it a bit you would be overjoyed with what it can do
Pat, there are no words, sure wish things would work out a bit better for you..seems when one is down there is always something adding to the load.
Barb, hugs..glad to u had a friend to char with, sometimes it's easier to talk with a friend vs hubby. Lanterns can be done anytime.
Karen, we did have a nice time in frankenmuth, perhaps when Lindakay travels north for her fathers funeral we could try once again to meet up, so LIndakay book a few extra days..Debbie could meet me part way and could come as well.
Not that far for judyow that she wears her big girl pants and has started taking the highways, or maybe Jake or the girls could drive her..think it would be about same distance for her as it would for me to drive. I'd soooo love it!
Just love coming home reading all your posts..it's like finding out what the family has been up to, good or bad😉
Didn't sleep 1/2 the night, did fall into a sleep and had a wonderful time with my grandma and LINDA in New Orleans, perhaps New Orlens is calling my name.
By 6:30 I had brushed of the car with a room and shortly after Andrew was here to PLOW me out...more snow than I thought we had.
By 8am I had dropped off my car for oil change, of course synthetic oil so $98 later grrrr..while it was being done LINDA and I were a few door down having a wonderful breakfast and chat, finished breakfast just in time to hit my first fabric store, even out my name on the list for a class to learn how to properly use this new quilting rulers then we were off to Michaels..brought the light from my big ott like unit, bulbs were between $29.99-$39.99 imagine for a light bulb, didn't matter as they didn't have my bulb but they didn't have one, said I'd have to order it from ott..had a 50% coupon so decided the $100 ott light unit would come home with me, easier for my focusing, got to till, nope coupon doesn't work on such items, should have known it,was about to bring it back when I remembered I had $63 left on a gift card so nit the bullet and bought it and some storage containers.
Then off to my regular fabric shop, picked up my 2 pkgs of fat quarters, the foot I need for motion quilting on the Janome 1600 Quilter and almost choked, $79.99, still shaking my head, Needed some greens and the Canada maple leaf red fabric for the Canada flag piece I'm doing..then on to fabricland, big sale, line ups were horrific at the cutting area so decided nope, another day bit they did have a light you can attach to your sewing machine, thought that might help me while my vision isn't the best so home it came...heck, might as well get everything done while I was at it, did groceries then to Liquidationand bought 2 more pairs of slacks,,same as last week, different colors, they were so comfy I thought they would be great for lounging. Wonder knows me, she said Melanie had been in earlier and bought a new washing machine and ,either couch set, kept telling me how lovely Mel is..by now I'm tired, didn't really need my prescriptions but thought I might as well pick them up...
Now home ready for a well deserved nap...needless to say I spend my weeks allowance, well perhaps next week's as well
Made it no me in time, storms a brewing..Kyle along with his regular job has been grooming trails, he posted photo's from last night..snowmobiles are thrilled to see winter back.
I'm looking for an old chair, love this Christmas chair...I'm also on the lookout or shall I say LINDA is for me, she is the queen of kijiji and Craigslist for a baby change table..need more storage and I think I could put the large ironing pad I made last year put on the top...
Tired so off for a nap
I can see why you want another chair to paint, it's adorable!
I spent lots of money too this morning and NONE of it fun. Took the Cherokee in to have the tire looked at, low front left. Was told it is WORE out and NOT going back on, need to have the alignment checked as the tire is not worn even. I could choose between the spare or buy new. Bought replacements for both front tires. *sigh*
I bought Ben headset for his birthday, for the boom box in an attempt to make his room more pleasant. Hearing all the different radio stations going at once, several conversations and TV is not very pleasant. With luck the headset will let him play his music and be able to actually hear ONLY his own. That is my hope anyhow.
I have the lemon bars in the car, Ben's Bday gift and card. Heading out to meet one of his daughters in Sunnyside. She will spend the weekend with me (lives about 4 hours away). Maybe she can help me with some of the projects at home, maybe that will lift my spirits.
Seems like everything I touch has gone to hell in a hand basket lately. 2 screws stripped on the headboard I was disassembling to remake. Don't know what I'm going to do about that. They can't stay and I can't remove them. I will try a friend and see if he can cut them off with sawsall.
One of dresser drawers refuses to come out. I may have to just take contents out and paint it, in place. Stud finder is NOT working on these plaster walls so I guess I just hope for the best when I'm looking for studs to mount up the new shelf in the bedroom.
My living room shows signs of a leak in the roof. All this snow just sitting up there, probably at the flashing around the fireplace chimney.
Do I sound as grouchy as I feel?? Ya, I'm going to go eat worms. Maybe today is not a good day to get a haircut. Same lady I've used for over 30 years, what could happen, right? Hair cut then on the road to see Ben.
Betty, you might want to take that quilting foot back. I can find them for $20.00.
https://www.amazon.com/Janome-Convertible-Motion-Frame-Quilting/dp/B00KCWAMGS
Even on ebay it is $50.00.
https://www.amazon.com/Janome-Convertible-Motion-Frame-Quilting/dp/B00KCWAMGS
$20.00 at an online sewing shop.
Not the same Lindakay, this one is spring fed, commercial with an adjustment depending on how thick the layers are, but thanks
Omg Pat, I think I'd just sit down and cry, how overwhelmed you must be, no not a crybaby, if anyone has a right to cry it's you sweetie. Great idea for Ben's gift, I bought wireless ones for Roger ions ago, he used to watch tv so damn loud that the set aloud him to listen and we could listen at a normal volume...am sure he will love
it. It's great that they are doing so many tests on Ben, will give you a good insight as to his condition.
Debbie, Abandoned is on again, two young men left last mile market of Route 66 and heading to first mile marker in Chicago..interesting, maybe you can get it.
Wonder how Dianne and thundering heard are doing? Sure wish she had someone with her, can't imagine suffering as she is and being alone.
Karen, how are you doing?
Susan, you behaving?
Anniversary of sorts today..wondered why my tummy has been churning and I'm uneasy..think the mind works is mysterious ways..today is the 2nd (could it be 3) anniversary of Noah's stabbing..makes me sick to even think about it.
This message was edited Jan 28, 2017 9:51 PM
How is Noah doing?
Hard to tell, don't see a whole lot of him, has a girlfriend, job, works o/t Saturday's to pay for his new caddy. Lol. Spoke with him for few seconds this aft..
Still no sentencing for the young lad that stabbed him..think when that happens they will all feel better.
Hard to type when a friend is keeping me company and not nice as he is a tooting kittie
Ziggy looks very comfy!
I'm doing really well Betty. Knock wood. Doing a lot of sewing for QOV. Trying to get several quilts ahead so I'll have them if the need arises. Right now I'm making 4 in a production line. I'll give one to each group I'm in and will have two here when I need them. I'm presenting to two WWII veterans in the near future. Excited about that.
Betty, I would NOT want my nose that close to the business end of a tooting kitty!
Had a nice visit with Ben, the head set did not work with the boom box. I think head set is not compatiable with stereo because it worked with Rebecca's phone but not the stereo. I'll try again.
Karen, that is exciting that you are getting so many quilts made!
Rebecca is spending the night. She loves our guest room, it's clear across the house, has black out shades and can control the temperature to her liking, VERY quiet. She says she will NEVER try to spend the night again at her bio-mom's. Hot, noisy, TV blaring, no curtains & step brother who goes out to smoke so the exterior lights come on & shine into the room. No consideration for people that work and need to keep a schedule.
TIRED, I think Rebecca is going to stay up and do some baking. I'm going to bed. She knows her way around our kitchen and will do fine without me.
Behaving as well as I can. In pain, on new long-acting meds (12 hr) as T3s aren't working and couldn't go to Robbie Burns' dinner tonight because of it.
Feeling loopy, not wanting to eat much, but know I'm hungry.
Will call Home Care & see what they say. Took off bandage & had sit-down shower today. Learning experience for both of us.
Apparently should not be having this much pain so long after surgery - been 5 day, so should be settling. It's not.
Karen, can we some of the quilts in the making..eager beaver for sure..because of the cause it energizes you right?
Pat, sounds like Rebecca's visit is just what you need, home baked goods to go with coffee this morning. How did she find her dad? Here is hoping you get to see Ben on his birthday and have replacement earphones for him..how is the car working, was your brother able to repair the latch?
Susan, hooe home are can assess the situation and get you help
Dianne, breakfast television will be airing an interview with Sharon, Inuk and Graeme the handler few 9 at 7a.m. Hooe today is a good day for you.
There is an insert about 24x 24" in the quilt I'm doing so enjoying a coffee and tracing it for something to do
List the most gorgeous of days out there. Bitter cold, fresh snow and the sun is glistening everything, looks like a zillion diamonds, just so beautiful. Hoping Debbie if same in your neck of the woods you can take photo's with that new camera
Susan, did you consider some of the pain can be from your fall in the hospital jolting the system. Could be the body regrouping and healing. Don't try and do too much (Robby Burns dinner? Too soon) and just heal. Get a lap project for you!
Just like Betty....will have to pull duct tape out for you!!! And Betty...Ziggy is getting so big! Love his colors. Reminds me of my Huck....who sleeps just like that on me at night.
My Jalouse was loving but not really much of a lap kitty.
Susan, Debbie has a point, the fall may be some of the issue. I would be concerned with the swelling in the arm. Consider a blood clot, post fall.
Rebecca took the boom box back to Fred Meyer, the jack /receptacle was faulty so she upgraded slightly. She will pass thru Sunnyside on her way home today and see her Dad, drop off new boom box and headset.
I have the van to drive so I am not in a huge hurry to have Cherokee fixed. Now that the roads are clear I don't mind the van. Brother will get to fixing the latch pull when he can. He will be helping out our sister with Dad more this week.
Fresh snow is soooooo beautiful! We have mountains of ugly gray snow as the stuff has been shoved off sidewalks and plowed off roads. Our temperature have been milder so slowly melting.
Susan also using crutches can cause arm to swell. Use ice pack on it for a bit....and again...rest. My arms were so sore using a walker and crutches when I had to deal with healing.
Hi and Good Evening!
Oh My Gosh, I am just gushing with further Happiness!
I think you will as well, while I smile to say the Power of Love never fails.
Alissa has found Love.
She and her Love Amy to be married in May...
I am so very proud to share in their joy.
So smiling through tears, lol all day
