Morning all,
40f today, could do with more of this for the rest of the winter but cold/snow in the forecast
Debbie, can't imagine how frustrating it must be with little to no vision, mine is just blurred and I hate it,n will the new contacts be stronger or did you lose the others, know you've done so before.
Barb thinking of you this morning .. Hugs
Karen, has the family moved back in with you..how easily can you rent the place they were in? I
Didn't sleep well last, thought I'd sleep in this morning but my bed partner Ziggy had different ideas..didn't do much so maybe getting up early is a good thing, might get something done this morning.
Coffee and muffin calling my name
I posted this in the sewing thread and will copy it here. The one who had the heart surgery was my son. This was my younger brother. He was one who lived hard, always the joker and the life of the party. He lived life on his terms and left it the same way. I loved him dearly......
Thank you dear friends for your condolences to me and my family. It means a lot. Cremation and there will be no funeral as he did not want any formal services. In a while, the family will gather for a celebration of his life. Those were his wishes and we are honoring them...It does seem strange to me as I am of the generation of funerals but I see there have been many changes these past few years. I think maybe they are good changes considering what funerals cost today.
I love you all and I'm so grateful to have you in my life.....

Can't move them back in here until we have some help. So could be a week or two. If new baby comes soon might be longer. Getting new renters won't be a problem, there is a serious shortage of rental homes here. At least long term. Plenty of weekly rentals as this is a resort area.
Weekly rentals has the potential for greater income but a LOT more work, correct? I hope your family at least cleans up the rental and gets it ready. I'm so sorry Karen.
We could rent our house on the lake for $1800. per week in the summer. If it were just hubby and I we could move into house across the street and rent this one but not enough room for GS & family too.
Yes it's a lot more work to have a summer rental, it has to be cleaned between each client and usually only about three hours to do it. That's not much time when all the linens have to be washed. I don't know if I would be up to the heavy work which means hiring someone.
What does the monthly rent normally go for? Would it still be worthwhile to use as weekly and hire the work? Having an extra set of linens would be the only real feasible way to do it.
Karen, think Judy and Steve have cottage rental and seeing they live in Glenview much too far to travel and clean for them between rentals, takes some of the profits but more manageable for them. Could the house across the street be rented as cottage with water access at your beach?
Barb,so thought you had a brother that was hospitalized, know your son was but thought a brother as well
Have a lazy on, at my big meal a bit ago, for supper maybe cereal
My brother who passed is the one who had the arterial bypass but that was seven years ago and then my son had his bypasses two years ago. I find it hard to remember who had what when so I give you credit. Your rememberer is much better than mine right now......
Omg could it be seven years,Mohave we been chatting that long?
Susan, is your surgery tomorrow?
Yes, longer than that... I first joined DG back while I was still in Boise, that was over 7 years ago now!
Yes, we've been friends for many years, as a group here.
I celebrated my friendship with Jaye, on FB, for 7 years - about 3 months or more ago?
Yes Betty, my surgery is tomorrow, Monday (by the time you see this, I'll likely be on the road to Calgary). It's 3pm Mtn time, so 5pm for most of you.
I'll be 1 1/2 hrs in surgery. It's routine for Drs, so I'm quite calm about it - it'll be fine, I'm sure.
I'll be home Wed or Thurs, I guess.
Hope Everyone has a quiet week, my blessings to you all - take care.
blessings to you as well Susan.
Morning all,
Another 40f day here, dull but but snow so hurrah
Prayers Susan, hooe all goes well
Last night I out 4 inch clear tape along the edges of the chair that goes with my couch, Sharon suggested I out a titch of Vicks on the tape, didn't have any so out some leg rub on it and haven't seen Ziggy go close it it. Have a scratching post so wonder if I were to put a bit of catnip on it if it might encourage him to use it and not go back to the couch.
Not much on my agenda, well perhaps fix a snafoo re my Canada quilt but that is easily done
Now what are your plans for the day?
Sending prayers for your surgery Susan.
Betty, here is an article I found for cats scratching.
http://www.wikihow.com/Stop-a-Cat-from-Clawing-Furniture
REALLY enjoyed the article and found that I "did something right"! I had to work at keeping my Jalouse from using the furniture and I have to say that I did use the techniques they suggested and it worked. Cat nip on the scratching posts & deterrent on the the furniture worked wonders.
We also had to put away ALL plastic bags, keep butter on 2nd shelf of cabinet (she learned to OPEN the cabinets & could reach the 1st shelf). She was a naughty kitty and we loved her dearly!
Great article, I'm on the right road, just takes time, few ideas I will incorporate.
Guess when I got the other kitties it was early summer and all the scratching happened outside..
Heading out the door now - hope everyone has a blissful, blessed, quiet & uneventful week - take care, and God Bless :-)
Ducky was thinking our furniture was good for scratching. We got him a tower with rope & cardboard scratchers. He ignored for a couple days so I gave it a spritz with catnip spray and it's now his favorite place to be. I guess if it worked for an older cat, it will as well for a kitten. The spray was at our pet supply store, just took a tiny bit.
Ducky has never been one to get on the table or counters thank goodness. He does like to sit by the windows and keep count of bird feeder visitors.
I have NEVER had a cat as naughty as Jalouse. NEVER had a cat who would climb on counters. Aw... but she was fun in soooooo many ways. Played a mean game of fetch, and if told to, would jump into your arms. She got a lot of brownie points with me for that!
Oh Betty, please do not let Ziggy outside! Scares me to death with birds of pray, and him still not having all his vaccines. Still so little. He sure is precious.
We had a note like that when DD was little. By the 3rd child...I was a bit lax with the tooth fairy notifications. After 2 days of forgetting....she went in to use the downstairs bathroom. Found a note from TF...."please forgive me but your CATS had me trapped down here and I couldn't get to your room!!!" Left tiny little note....a toothbrush, paste....and $1. lol Bad bad TF.
I love that tooth fairy note.
Too cute
No Debbie Iggy ended up on back porch but doors closed so couldn't het out..ill have to watch more closely when I open the door
Scoundrel!
Keeping Susan in my prayers today. Hope all goes well for her.
Things are quiet here as I wait for SIL to decide on remembrance day for my brother. I hope it is soon. I'll call her today and see how she is doing....
Keepibg busy with Norm's X-stitch cat. Almost have page three done.....
Good Morning and Good Day!!
First, I just want to say That you are all in my daily thoughts and prayers.
Oh my gosh so many things to tell you.
Betty, Guess who's house is up for Sale? LOL-not ours!
No, No sewing going on but getting closer...
Decided, to switch my room around! You know, I am so used to only having a small space. So took that shelving to be on wall across from window..much more spacious, unfortunately I loose the table for a bit cause that couch has to be there. (at least for now). Almost all my stuff has been placed in my room, also re-arranging the entry way. Yesterday spent a good amount of time going through fabric and organizing projects, good gosh I have a lot to finish and catch up with!
but, now I will go and get some baskets to put material in.
...In the meantime every piece of my paper has been gone through and organized into groupings. OMG, I am pretty happy with the outcome, and it's been a lot of fun reading cards and letters and my own journals. I've decided I am one Deep and crazy person. LOL.
...As far as the Great Clean-up, so very happy to say, The entire upstairs will be pretty much good as soon as I clear the rest of my stuff from the corner! I am about to give up again anyway sigh, I swear, the second a space opens up something get brought in and plopped where ever.
Last week, I worked really hard on the kitchen, it was spotless! DH came home from work, actually mentioned how great it looked. I mean i literally I just finished as he walked in the door. I should have taken a picture, lol but he said I hate to mess it up with dinner. I said yeah I know, too bad we can't just appreciate how nice it looks for a time, to my delight we ordered out, and it stayed fairly neat and clean until Jake got home, and I woke to dishes in the sink!! LOL Our house never gets to sleep!
My lap top is being updated and a new battery, big smile- Dr. David (SIL) is working on it, hopefully it won't take too long.
So, I have not played with Pegasus, not like I used to for most of the month. Keeping busy helps with that. I have been keeping away letting them have "their" time with him and when they are away, I only visit him at the cage through out the day and let him out for 1 hour in the evening.
Well, I best get to work on something.
I hope you all have a great day!
Morning all,
It's 30 out there, with mild weather the pathway we take to the back now shows grass, not for long though as they are calling for snow and it's to last for many days.
3 hours difference between here and Calgary, will try to call around 10 Susan's time to see how she made out in surgery.
Barb perhaps with all the inclement weather your SIL will wait until spring?page 3 and you say there are how many? Once you get over the half way mark its always more encouraging. Now I'll Norm be able to frame it?
Pat and Aline are dropping in this morning, will be nice to see them..
Today is not the best of days for me, head is buzzing, hard to focus and a headache so I will be back to resting more..maybe it's the weather
Enjoy your day
It gets harder and harder to go to work. So much I want to do at home, so far behind at work. OH well... need the pay check and not eligible for retirement so off I go. I know part of my funk is the weather. It makes it hard to plan anything and having to reschedule appointments over and over again with client is frustrating. I've rescheduled more appointments in the last 1 month than the prior 3 years total.
Our pick up truck isn't running, I won't borrow my sister's on bad roads. Heck, not sure I could even get sis's truck out! It hasn't moved in a couple of months and it's in some pretty good snow, only 2 wheel drive...
When the hardwood floor has a good finish on it, the bedroom rearranged, I HOPE I'll feel more at ease.
