Plan on it Linda. Hard part will be choosing. I wish I had 2 dozen quilts to give.

Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends old/new!
Karen, do hope they say it's ok to give a quilt..what an honour for someone. Enjoy your outing, as always you will have so much fun and yes don't forget the camera..I saw the Vietnam wall in Washington..as with most of the war memorials it was emotional.
Lindakay, the heat you have is enough to tire you out. Do you have a room just for sewing that you can go sew an hour here an hour there..I think I get a lot of sewing done because I don't have to put everything away when I'm done sewing.
If you came here today you would not know I've been outside working so hard..more of a mess than improving things..in order to put the container for the water fountain I'm having to dig up plants..doesn't matter if they die where I've replanted them they have to come out..will water them down just like the bonfire in the pit..oops it was mega high..kept hosing it down..I'm smelling like smoke.
Just had my cold drink and back to dig
Holly wah, thank goodness for breaks..was gabbi g with Linda, they were going to Buffalo as a pressie from hubby for her birthday which is on Monday..couldn't get a room, all booked
I called to get room for the 12th/13th and could only get the 13th..booked it quick at $200 us..just means getting up and leaving around 5:30, by the time I pick p ain't Muriel, mom we should arrive about the time the stores open
Oh Karen you are a kind person. Could you please give whatever vet you decide on big hug and a Thank You from me.?
It has looked like rain all day but nothing so far. Love the temp though. I have all the windows and screen doors open. While I love having the AC on the TH need a bath so it gets rather stinky.
Betty there was an article in today's Toronto Star about people with Aspergers. There was a 'dating camp ' to help people of all ages to handle that 'awkward love' Some people were in their 30's and never have had a date. Just must make you so proud of Kyle. If you want I can mail it to you. Very interesting. article.
Glad you got your hotel arrangements made Betty. We had gone to Rochester for a funeral. Fine the first night but there was a dog show on and every room was booked. We did get the room for a second night. Not sure I would go back there again... there were footprints on a picture in the room plus more footprints on the ceiling.
Dianne and TH
As it happens, DGS visiting this weekend has a friend who is coming to dinner with his family. He served with my DGS in Afghanistan. So today he will get a quilt also. I need to get a few more QOVs made. I love having one available when an opportunity arises to present one.
Betty, I wish I had an extra room, the room Dad used as a bedroom, became a catch all/storage room, so no room in there. I use the kitchen table when I sew.
Please don't over do it outside.
Dianne, glad to see you posting. I hope your vertigo and rash are doing better. Keep doing those exercises for your back.
Karen, bless you for making all the quilts you do. I know they are appreciated.
Actually Karen please give a hug and a TY for all the Nam vets there from me. You can tell them you have a Canadian friend who is a little bit of a hussy, I am laughing so hard as I type this because that is the last thing in the world anyone would call me.
Was able to get out to the Foodland and the Rx store this morning. My vertigo is much better today but I need a good sleep.
LK I will be doing those exercises faithfully. The Physio guy spent the better part of 1 and 1/2 years seeing me 3 times a week after a bad accident I was in.Am trying to do this without pain meds (my decision) I always said I would kiss Bernie's feet and at the end I could. When DH went to the same place for his back he said he went into the room looking all around. When his Physio person asked him what was wrong he said "Oh I am looking for God."
The TH must be hungry but they have already been fed. Chaos is out there tossing their bowls around.
Met the young couple who bought the farm house. I had taken their blue bin by mistake a few weeks ago. Remembered to throw it into the Escape when I went out the lane this morning. What a lovely young couple they are... so glad the house went again to a wonderful young couple.Of course they had lots of questions about the place so I told them to come down. They didn't even know there was over a mile of lane beyond them.

Almost ready to call it a night, tired and sore ( yes I know it's my fault)
Treated myself to Chinese, enough to do me tomorrow
Think Karen, you best give hugs of appreciation from all of us..laughing at Dianne, they say it's the quiet ones you have to watch😂 Wonderful that you have a nice family move in, be good for you. Are they year round or only cottagers
Lindakay you will have to make it a mission, clean out your dad's room and have a sewing room, would be well worth the effort.
Went out and cyliconed the globes to the base..I should have glued it with e6000 but the said cyliconed..guess I can always glue of the cylicone doesn't work..
Had 3 baths so far today..feel the cement on my hands so guess I'll take another
then maybe a Tylenol 3 and make me self comfy
This is the area that was overgrown, will show you how much I pulled out and the after once I get the columns placed
Oh Betty that Chinese food looks so good. I had toasted raisin bread with cheese whiz on it for dinner.
Diesel and Chaos love watermelon ... who would have 'thunk' that.I bought a melon today and was going to share it with my friend Maryl We decided it was crazy to buy a whole thing of celery, or watermelon so we would just share it. I called her and she is going to her DD's to attend a bridal shower for her DGD. Then tomorrow a bridal shower for her best friend's DGD.She will stay overnight near Picton at her DD's. She needs to get out right now. Unlike me who prefers to hunker down at home.
The young couple who bought the farmhouse are so young. Probably 25 - 30 range. They are very sweet. He has no idea how much wood he needs to heat that house for the winter. Told him to come down and see how much he really needs. Aw were we ever that young ? I am sure we were.Betty they will be there full time. They are about a mile from me.
Have my eye on a battery charged chain saw. With that I could clean out all the things the TH get their leashes caught on. Of course that only happens in the middle of the night.
OK need to get a walk in with the TH before it gets dark plus all the skeeters will be out.
M what's up with you today? Did you get your dump run accomplished ?
Dianne and her TH
Guess I'm overtired and so I can't sleep. Grrr
Yes we were that young but it was a longgg time ago. Lol
You will be a lot of help to your new neighbors, do they have children?
Let me know if you find a battery operated chain saw on sale Dianne, I could use one myself.
When Roger died I was like you, never wanted to leave the house, had this thought that he would have one chance to visit me one more time and if I was away then I'd miss seeing him, crazy right??
Smart about sharing such things, I find I'm throwing away so much every Tuesday...
Forgot to mention, I had my phone set on my car, nestled where the wipers are..forgot about it..went to midland, came home and when I got out there was my phone, lucky
Betty - that certainly was lucky that your phone was still there. Think about if it had rained and not only would your phone be wet, but you'd have the wipers on.........
Dianne - dogs like watermelon? Yeah, I guess I may have seen something about that once?!?! Your vertigo is alright now?
Glad it's a nice couple that bought your place.
Karen - I remember when we all used to do the quilts for the veterans. Miss that.
Bless you for keeping up with it. I know that your quilts are appreciated.
Morning all,
Karen, love that photo..what a tremendous amount work went into it but by the smile on his face shows it was well worth it.
Breakfast time, then out to feed the skitters
Good cloudy morning .. rain on the agenda today ... Saturday was gorgeous .. dump run accomplished, went to 2 cemeteries ..Lorna wanted my opinion on 2 of her flower beds, and, went to check my parents grave site at another cemetery ..
Came home, started whizzing around ,all of a sudden .. my auto immune condition kicked in ..I laid down at 3pm, and ,I got up at 7am this morning ! My back id killing me from lying that long, but, there's no use fighting it when it comes ..
Karen .. would love to see DH friend in WI get a QOV ... Gary is a Korean war vet .. mind you, he has never been a fan of crowds .. his health isn't all that great either ..
The quilt you presented id amazing :-)
HUGS to you ..
Betty .. last weekend, we pulled apart a perennial bed .. I only wish I had thought to take pics ..it's back to it's glory now :-) That Lorna is a goer ..
Dianne .. happy to hear NO DIZZIES .. and, even happier to hear about the young folks moving in sorta nearby :-)
Not sure what is up today .. weather is very iffy .. the Police and Firefighters games are on starting today .. may see what events are happening .. MEGA testosterone out there LoL
Hi to Debbie, Barb, Sharon, Judy, well .. everyone ''
~M~
Marilynne, go to QOVF.org and fill out a request. Anyone can nominate any vet. Put in info of person to contact. State co-ordinator will contact nearest member who in turn will contact that person and arrange for presentation.
This is how it works here so am assuming it's the same in each state.
Karen, that is awesome.
Karen - QOV may be the same here, in Canada -there is a site, I know. I also know there are a lot of rules, and I'm not sure what they all mean, so I didn't attempt.
http://www.quiltsofvalour.ca/
"m" gives you a sense of accomplishment when you can see the result by before/after photo's..were you able to help Lorna with idea for her bed?
It's a glorious day in my neighborhood but I think you are going to send me you bad weather right?
Karen I'm sure there is something similar in Canada..
Big sigh, thought Greg would help me put the columns on the platform I made of plastic shelving..nope not strong enough to hold them..told me to wait until tomorrow and he'd cut me a piece of metal screening Sooo cannot finish my project today...boo hoo! You know me, always anxious. Lol
So I moved on to the secret garden, brought in all the pieces, washed them, put a new oilcloth on the table..last year the branch that held the chandelier broke off the tree so I'm looking up, weigh up as the Friendly Giant would say (likely only Canadians would remember him) to another branch that might work.,now to see if I've wire or rope to use then the secret garden is done.
Next goal is in the back 40 the shed I made, needs sweeping and cleaning..took all the tops off the cushions for the rocker out next to it, now in the dryer then clean it..finally finally feeling I'm on top of things..
Had to laugh, Greg worked his way through the pathways to look at my project, of course he had to say "Mom, it's getting to be a maze, how will you ever cut grass?) asked him if his lawns were cut and trimmed like mine? Nope, well don't worry about mine being cut. Lol
LOL at Greg, Betty - look to his own lawn, eh?
I know you - anxious to finish that Secret Garden.
I'm looking forward to starting my yard From Scratch - how awesome is that? I'm so happy to have full control over what's going into it :-)
That's great, Betty! Nice cool spot to enjoy re-purposed flower baskets!
Morning everyone. Been up for hours just didn't make it to here.
My weather is exactly like Betty's. Wonderful !!!
Need to find something in the freezer - maybe lamb chops on the BBQ. Not really interested in food these last few days ......dark chocolate is another choice.Making dinner is something I hate doing. That was our time together...we would make dinner have some wine and of course dessert for Santa Warren. He didn't get his Santa belly for nothing you know.
Betty the young couple bought the farmhouse so are a mile up the lane from me. Both work plus he goes to Queen's. Sure hope he isn't planning on being a teacher. No jobs .I swear the jobs go in a circuit. One year they need nurses then the next year they need lawyers and on and on.
Good score at Foodland Betty! Just needed some TLC.
How are you feeling now M ? Any sign of bears lately ? The coyotes are howling like crazy right now after it gets dark.. Full moon ????
Geese I fell again getting out of bed about 3 am this morning. Had to wait for a few minutes before I could gather my thoughts I definitely need to work with Diesel like I did with Stormy The TH just want to give me kisses when I do fall. I have the makings of a nice bruise on my cheek. Hit the nightstand. The village will be all atwitter if they see me. LOL it is not a laughing matter to so many in the village. They would turn up at the store with black eyes, teeth missing.
Safe travels today Karen.
Dianne and her TH
Oh Dianne!! I worry about you falling. This vertigo has obviously not gone away.
What in the world were you doing at 3am - were you trying to get out of bed, or were you having a dream? I don't like this at all.
Karen - drive safely.
4 more weeks and we'll be sleeping in our RV, watching the additions getting taken down.
An exciting time for you Susan..is bob up to all the work it entails or is part of the municipal moving grant able to help with replacing structures you had with paid manpower.
Dianne, I too worry about you being so far from a neighbor should you need someone..do you have the medical call alert system?a this vertigo has been a long one hasn't it..yep, can't get a better day then today..no humidity, nice breeze, perfect to be out in the yard puttering.
While waiting for the cushion covers to dry I put the dishwasher on, had a bath and put a pretty outfit on, now laying on couch for a small break, not a good thing to do as its hard to get back into doing something.
Beautiful garden Betty.
Dianne, so sorry to hear you fell. I know your cheek is going to be sore. Please be careful.
Sometimes my body just does what it wants without telling me LK. Actually I was up sitting on the edge of the bed. Warren wanted some 'nice' sheets. so these have a really high thread count. They are also very slippery !
Looks like rain, just went out and covered my project seeing I just glued the globes..cylicone didn't work..of course I just watered the grass, oh well, still might miss me and travel to adianne's.
Seeing I washed all the pillow coverings I should set them inside the shed just incase
Had leftover Chinese but i am hungry, restaurant in the plaza should stay open Sunday's for people like me..guess I will go looking in the refrigerator, wish I had some of Dianne's chocolate
Slippery sheets and a slippery slope, Dianne! I think it's about time to get some regular sheets, without the high thread count.
I know, in this day & age, it's difficult for seniors (and lots of other people) to trust in others - that they'll help them, and that they won't cause them grief, but some days I just want to scream - "Some People CAN Be Trusted!"
Here's the story - our elderly friend, Doug, is moving for the 2nd time since Oct. He's moving out an unnecessarily expensive situation into a Senior's Apt building. There is a lovely organization called The Smile Gang who will help people who are low-income, disabled, or seniors to do Just About Anything - just ask, and they will send the appropriate people to do what you need. They helped us move our piano, disassemble a shed and take it to Torrington, helped with a Yard Sale, and brought paneling to us, for our new place. We provided lunch (pizza) and paid for gas $$, plus a tip when they moved our piano.
Doug does not believe they will help to the extent we tell him - no faith. He keeps saying "how much do they charge?" I tell him "gas, and a tip" He keeps saying "I can't believe it". I know he's worried - he's stressed and I keep telling him that we're trying to take the stress OFF him. I will be there to introduce them to him, I will pack a lunch for them, and they will pack, move & bring in his boxes (he wants to unpack). He's only moving 2 km away...... He wants to know (again and again) how many people, how much they charge, and I told him "they are just trying to get 1 million smiles because they know that this city is in need of help and they want to make friends of people in need".
This is a vent on my end, because I know that once he's met them and seen how they can help him without requiring him to pay huge bucks, he'll understand. Right now, for the next two weeks, he won't understand........ so here's my aaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!! lol
Karen .. have talked it over with Gordon, re getting involved with the QOV for Gary .. he wants to email or speak with one of his daughters first ..
Thanks so much for the info :-)
KA BOOM .. we are having a rather loud storm at the moment .. poor Zoey .. she's hunkered down despite many attempts to get her to come out to us ..
Son, Murray found a wounded Eagle baby .. of course, home it came and he had a dickens of a time finding someone to take it .. but, he did finally locate a Falconry .. never knew we had one in the area ..
Getting ready to run the dishwasher ..best get at it
TTFN
~M~
Whoa .. happened again .. my last post had about 4 above it I hadn't seen .. grrrrr

Susan .. hope you friends move goes well ..
Rheumatologist 'rebooked' apt at 4pm .. going to be a disjointed day kinda ..
Thursday is Lorna's L A S T fitting for her new leg .. we hope ..
Have a stellar week everyone
~M~
morning all,
Sure feels like rain but then it felt like it last night and they called for rain but passed us by..
woke up thinking this is not just another day, it's a special day..Debbie's birthday, Linda's birthday and would have been Roger's birthday.
Debbie, sure hope your day is filled with sunshine, that it brings you nothing but smiles so Happy Happy Birthday!
"M" Lorna has waited far too long for her leg..being positive it will be the best fit, if not, there has to be another avenue, somewhere that a complaint can be lodged??
Susan I'm in agreement, more good people out there than bad..think they should ban all these violent shows to start with, back to prayers in school, back to parents being able to reprimand kids when necessary...family dinners on and on and on.. most have drifted away from family values..my rant...
mom came yesterday afternoon, she had helped Bernie pack a bit for his move, she is still sleeping, she was so tired when she got here..gave her the quilt I quilted for her..not really sure it was ok but she'll take it home..
goal for today is getting the trimming done and grass cut
maybe a bit of sewing...got on top of the weeding, thrilled about that
mom's up, best I make her coffee and toast
Sure hoping Lorna's leg is a perfect fit, she deserves nothing less after all this wait.
Yummy, cake looks delicious..I will have a slice if it's ok with Debbie.
Think mom is leaving this morning, has things to do in the city..
Thank you for the birthday wishes. I read to keep up, just nothing much to post.
The cake looks yummy!!! I will share with all.
Hugs,
Debbie
Karen I have watched more than once the video of you presenting your quilt to a vet. He looked like a long stream of water. He looked so young. Forget I am getting old. You could tell he was really honoured .
I'll join you with a piece of cake Debbie. The TH and I wish you peace, love and happiness .
Just woke up from a nap - I felt a little strange .... thought I had to have been asleep for hours. No nightmares, no sleepwalking just a wonderful deep sleep. That just reminded me how much a good sleep can affect your day.
D and TH
Seth deployed with my grandson and they became close friends. He now comes here when ever Rory is up here. His little boy now calls me grandma...it's so cute.
Debbie anything special planned for today?
Dianne, bet you feel refreshed and ready to take on the world.
Lordy, think it's too late in the day to get into doing anything..mom left at noon for aunt Muriel's, she might come back later..just as she was leaving Kyle came over, sat and gabbed for 2 hrs, now look at the time..
Kyle said the entire family went to Roger's grave last night, Greg told stories of his dad so kids would get to know him somewhat..said they were there an hour..I asked why they didn't let me know they were going?? Kyle laughed and said they went at 10pm and they knew I'd lob be in bed lol
Greg is coming tonight to help me figure something out..I need to make pies for Wednesday, perhaps I should make them this afternoon and send one home with him..do I have enough energy?
