The TH and I haven't gone too far today. Like a fool I shut down the AC as the breeze off of the lake was nice .

I did take TH down to Ana's rock - they paddled quite happily. They are being spoiled by my elderly neighbours. Daisy stopped to tell me she has treats for the TH. They even but an extra chair on the dock for me . Very sweet! I read the Toronto Star so when Vince goes out in the am he brings me back a copy of it .Duke is very good with them. I was worried he would bounce all over them but he seems to sense they are very frail.

A poor little painted turtle has come up to lay her eggs. She must be completely discombobulated as this is very late to be laying eggs. She was having a terrible time getting the 'just' right place.She has just gone her way so I need to get out there and secure the spot.

What's everyone having for dinner ? I think I am going to have Puffed Wheat. Nice and light but filling.too.Its too hot to eat. I was going to go into Foodland to get a BBQ chicken but decided I didn't want to change into something before I have my shower.

Deb how is your leg ?

My back is doing much better but I will continue to coddle it for a few more days. I've gotten into doing the exercises twice daily.

Need to buy some powdered Borax to spread around just where the house and dirt meets. There are a few ants and I don't want anymore. That being said I get a few ants all winter but I think that is because there is infloor heating down there.

We had Asian food. I agree. Too hot to cook.

We had burgers, Easy to fix after a day at the beach. Isn't it funny, we live on a lake and still drive to a beach. Nice change for the kids, but as soon as we were back they were in our lake. We got the water trampoline for them and they are having a ball with it.

Company just left..great meal idpf I don't say so myself
Roast beef, mashed potatoes, beans/carrots, salad
Lemon me Prague and blueberry pieand ice cream.. buttertarts, must have been good as some went home with them.

Having tea breake, clean up and to bed I go.

Dianne, don't turn off your a/c tomorrow, next few will be scorchers,mnot quite as bad as Lindakay and Sharon but close. Haven't seen many ants inside but talk about ant hills..bad this year.glad your back is better,now the trick is not to overdo.

Lindakay, it's not a wonder you don't want to cook..do you normally have take in? Lots of salads sandwhicjphes?

Karen , you sure are spoiling those kids. Memories being made for sure..even now I hear nieces and nephews talk about the times they spent at our place on the lake..great memories.

Doug's only moving 2 km from where he lives now and we are only 5 min from him - we're moving 1 hour away.
We'll be coming to Calgary every Sunday and spend some time at both churches and seeing Doug. It'll work out

Have been waiting out a thunder storm since about 6am .. Zoey was under the covers pressed close to me shaking, so, my 'sleep in' was thwarted yet again ..oh well ..

Sounds like a nice meal Betty , we had nothing .. the heat was just nuts here, humidity is awful .. DH made some soup and I had a boiled egg and a piece of toast.
Lorna had egg salad sammies at work, couldn't finish them .. hard to eat when it's so hot ..

Karen, those trampolines are the new rage it seems .. kids love them .. beats the heck outta jumping off the end of a dock LoL

Missy just looks at her water and food dish but doesn't eat..perhaps I will go get something different for her, see if I can't tempt her.mham,roast beef isn't doing it..

I will get it out when the boys get here. I have some curtains and pillows to make for their room.

Called Rita, had so much food left over from last night that I thought she might like a home cooked meal..she is coming over and we will go over out trip..next week at this time we will be packing up the car and singing '99 bottles of beer on the wall' ☺️

LOL and not so funny, the owners have not even seen it yet. They are suppose to go today. They were going to go Sat and Sun but plans were cancelled.
She was thrilled to know it was done and the house cleaning.
So I am anxious to here the review.

Lorna, god bless her, we were at the office for 2 hours .. he brought the leg in(new) .. NO suction .. ergo .. it won't stay on .. had to line the socket .. we could have sat and waited the 2 hours (+) but, I wheeled her out to the car and she got in and we went for lunch .. I ordered Thai food for take out, and we went and sat down at the marina and ate it ..
3 hours later we went back .. the leg still didn't fit(no suction) .. so, out came the padding,,, .. FINALLY .. she was able to maintain suction .. but, she is not that happy with the leg .. I can forsee appts to tweak it ..
Disheartening ..

Anyway .. it's 42C here (104) AWFUL .............

Poor Lorna, I know she was so looking forward to getting her leg to fit properly. I pray she does not need to many more tweeks.

It was too hot to even go paddling in the lake today. So they all had a shower with me a bit ago. Same temp here. It looks like it should be nice and cool out there but it is not. Leaves and branches are swaying away but the breeze is HOT.

Duke has really been off the last couple of days - some behaviours I haven't seen since the first week he was here. He barked and barked until I went out and moved the Escape. I wanted to do some work in the carport and needed the space. Too hot so that chore didn't happen. So the Escape is back where Duke thinks it should be. I don't know if it is the weather, or the neighbours are here, its a full moon, I just don't know. He has put himself in his crate a few times today. Blue words coming out of my mouth. Plug your ears ladies !!!! I had almost finished my post and a friend stopped by ..... when I came on back Duke hit the key board and Poof!!

Rita just left, tummy full..talked about her trip to Oklahoma, she loved it....
Especially impressed with the Oklahoma Memorial.

Missy is just not eating or drinking..gave her some tuna, she took a few moth fully but that's all..guess maybe a trip to the vets tomorrow if she still is not eating, could be the heat?

Had the feel like 99 here today, same for tomorrow..we checked weather in Newfoundland it it was in high 60,s..best we bring a coat with us..yes same girls..we put a lot of miles together.

Judy I'm sure the owner will be contacting you to say how pleased she is.

Big sigh about Lorna's leg, is he at all embarrassed at the bad fit? Can't he order a new one and start from scratch?

Did work on my Canada quilt, have blocks sewn together, tomorrow I add 2 borders, with the 1 1/2 inch square in them, then add the maple leafs, salmon and lobster then 1st of 4 ready to quilt. Might go to Barrie tomorrow to pick up batting and backing for it seeing I need to go in search of navy light weight slacks to take with me ..strange packing clothing for fall weather..

Couldn't sleep ... feel so bad for Lorna, she told me last night she is ready to call it quits with her gardening and RE TRAIN for something that does not require as much physical labour :-(
The whole fiasco with the leg has her beat .. and, Kerry doesn't seem to care .. it's all about the $$ and whichpart of the gov't is going to PAY .. nauseates me ..
But, she'll be up soon, and will head out to her gardens, and tend them in the god forsaken heat .. and, never blink an eye .. honestly, I do hope KARMA does exist !!

The Canada quilt is lovely Betty .. hope you get your slacks ..

Dianne .. our crew is NOT happy with the heat .. appetites off .. lotsa panting going on, and, today Zoey goes to the groomer .. we have said nadda about it as she will hide under the bed ..

Betty, that quilt is beautiful. A labor of love for sure.

I have the boys here, we will go to the park and play for a bit before it gets too hot.

Going to pu some already picked raspberries this morning. I will get mostly red but sure want some blue ones. We go to a farm that has been selling cash crops for years yet their service is amazing. I placed the order as a message and they actually called me to reconfirm the order. Raspberries - red kind are just about finished but the blues are just coming in.

When I opened the slider door so the TH could go out about 4 am I was hit with a swoosh of hot air.. Going to be another hot one.

One of our local cash crop farmers dropped dead in 1 of his fields yesterday. He was under 50 and has a passel of kids.The farmers are getting hit really hard this year so I know prices will be high. for all produce.I think he was out fiddling with his irrigation system. Many of the farms in our area have what we call a 'day' job. They work in factories, sales, carpentry but most of these jobs have disappeared so the pressure is on to keep things afloat.

Clever lady LK going out early with the grands. How old are these 2 ?

Quilt is lovely Betty. When do you leave ? What's your first spot ?

Is there ac at the groomers ?

Oh I just ache for Lorna - to have to give up a job that she loves and is so good at just doesn't seem right. Wrong person looking at being retrained.

LK - enjoy time with the kids - both at great ages. At 10, they don't know "everything" yet, and at 17 they're just starting to realize (again) that they don't know "everything" but may not give that up for awhile lol

Judy - those pictures are wonderful, of the landscaping! Now.... come do mine?!?! Our new neighbour across the street - she & her hubby are landscapers! Wow! I did teach her about a new flower - Datura :-) I'm definitely planting some in my flower garden! They love the barter system, so who knows what we can come up with together!!

Simmering in the heat and my anger and frustration as Lorna sits in Kerry's office waiting for her OLD socket ..
She was in pain this morning, no hiding it .. the brim of the socket was pressing up into her 'lady bits' .. .. and that HAS to hurt ..lots ..
She has asked for a referral to Sunnybrook in Toronto .. but, Kerry says she is like family, and, he is going to make it work .. sigh .. guess we'll see

Sounds to me like Kerry won't give a referral because the problems will come back to him. He sure doesn't care about Lorna. I would call and set something up anyway. Say it is an emergency if necessary - that she may lose her job without a proper fitting leg....

I just can't believe this comedy of errors re Lorna's lef, surely there is somewhere one can go to when not satisfied with services..does he even say sorry? I don't know how to do these tweets? I'll reaper you to someone with more knowledge? Think you should give us all his name and we will all write letters..know Lorna wouldn't want to do that but it might give gphim a reality check to know people from all over the country know of his screw ups..

Sure was a hot one..decided to head to Barrie this morning and get last minute items..got my nap you slack, hair cut short (it's ok, it will grow)fabric, anti nausea bracelets and the likes soooo all set for Thursday.

Talk about traffic, there are festivals in almost all of the local towns so it's bumper to bumper..unless there is an emergency this lady isn't going anywhere.

In raspberry heaven here. The blues are amazing as are the red. Yes M I am in heaven enjoying these berries.

We went for lunch at a fav restaurant right on the river. I had a BBQd portabella mushroom stuffed with veggies and mozerella cheese on a pretzel bun.

Hot! Hot! Hot today! Still in the upper 80's.

Saw the orthopedic guy again. He wants to wait another week. Told me to go about my normal activity, next Friday he wants to do x-rays, and check again. He keeps saying he doesn't want to do the arthroscopic surgery and have me still be in pain because of the arthritis in my knee, but, it wasn't hurting before the pups crashed in to me, so I don't understand why it wouldn't make it better to have the surgery. I just want the pain gone and to get back to normal again.
