Thank you for your generous offer, Betty. Both SO and I would love to see that part of the world. My cousin built a home and retired to Bellingham after a career as a senior VP with Merrill Lynch. She is always asking us to visit but life with our extended family has kept us hopping. We have started doing some traveling again.

We are in the low to mid nineties every day. I garden, shower, take care of the house in the a.c. or run errands, garden and shower again. With humidity between 50-80% you can stand in the shade and be dripping wet in no time. We had a little rain one night last week and none since. The garden should be on autopilot but has become a major irrigation project instead. Everything outside the garden looks cooked.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Verona, ON

Oh my it is very hot here. It is 91* on the deck. Even the TH are inside and flopped over a floor vent. The WLs say that the temp today is the first since July of 2012.

My neck and shoulders are covered in a terrible rash - it is not that painful But it does seem to creep farther each night.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - my early is anywhere from 7am to 2pm......... and rain's been starting just before dinner (4pm'ish), and going until 10pm
Yes, we'll re-build the metal shed on our new site. Trying to get some pressure treated wood for the base, then it will go up

Deb - what's a baker's cyst? No, none of it sounds like fun.....

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Likely arthroscopic surgery Deb .. painful but not horribly so .. you'll likely have to ice n elevate for a few days ..
Probably drain the Bakers Cyst ..
Must be quite painful ..

VERY hot here AND big wind from the west .. waiting right now for a storm to appear .. it'll be a dandy ..

Went in and paid for our arrangements today .. the fella knows Lorna, so, ended up being a social visit .. AND, his wife is a quilter and travels to WI for the quilt shops .. was telling him about my quilting friends .. :-)
A 20 minute apt ended up being close to an hour !!

Went to Swiss CHalet for lunch, got a call saying the rheumatologist had gone home ill .. so, I am now rebooked ..kinda disappointing .. but, it happens ..

Waving hi to everyone ..

Door is always open to all of you...might not npbe Taj Mahal but you'd be welcome....anytime

Couldn't take the long grass so got it cut, still need to do the trimming but it will have to wait until tomorrow

Dianne, do you think it's a heat rash you have? Don't blame the TH for hogging the vents..missy went out this morning and I haven't seen her since..not sure if she has founded a cool place to rest and just wants to be alone..I don't like it..

Weather liars are same here Dianne, keep saying we are in for rain, feels like it then passes us buy..

Lots of work ahead of you Susan..do you feel more relaxed?

Need to take a bath, Lordy I feel like skitters and small bugs are crawling all over me..grrrr

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Really isn't too painful, getting up there is a certain angle that my knee bends that hurts, but once I'm up, I just feel unstable. Climbing stairs hurts a bit though.

Grass needs cutting, but maybe tomorrow. It's horribly hot and humid. I'm irritated with my neighbors, they cut down a huge maple tree in their backyard, and dragged the branches out to the street, and piled them in my yard, where I had my branches piled up that the city picked up. I realize their yard is perfectly manicured, and mine is a bit messy and weedy, but I thought that was pretty nervy of them. The branches aren't even close to the property line! But, they're generally friendly, and they put up with my dogs, and I don't want to anger them because I'm over the limit on the number of dogs allowed in town, and I had a run in with the city several years ago on code violations, so I'll put up with it. Just silently fuming!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats that is not good Deb..can understand your frustration..kind of catch 22, put up a fuss and might have more trouble than you care to have..how many dogs are you allowed and how many do you have? Glad you are not in too much pain.

Just had my bath, watering where I cut so it doesn't burn tomorrow,my ad the cutter in highest position, wish there would have been one higher.

Linda is going to reuse it tomorrow to pick up globes and bring them to me, short visit. Was looking for nice bowls for the glass bird feeders, she says they have lamp shades she things would be perfect, told her to bring me one and if it works I will buy more

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning ..

Had about half an hour of steady rain last evening .. this morning it's 61 with 92% humidity .. think it's going to be cloudy ..

Still finding I miss posts if a couple of us post at virtually the same time ..
Used to be a notice came up saying someone else had posted while you were ..
Sorry if it seems I am ignoring, I'm not ..

Deb, I'd say that's a real 'catch 22' situation you're in with the neighbours ..
Hope your knee doesn't give you much grief today.

Oh Dianne, how's the rash ? Maybe Benadryl would help?

Not sure what I'm up to today ..

Morning all,

Been to Walmart for a few groceries, started to rain as I was driving, went and got what I needed, couldn't have been more than 1/2 hr, came out and it had stopped, Sky is dark, hoopoe the mass hasn't passed us by, so need rain..have cooler temps though..

Hope you all have a fun day planned

Linda should be here around 11 so if I want to play in the craft room best I get a move on

Victoria Harbour, ON

90 put there, Sky turned blue, sun came out and guess who decided she would start the water feature..problem is I ran out of vermiculite and perlite even with the extra I found under the deck from making mushrooms so another trip to town, need enough for the globes and supports..could wait till tomorrow but want to get the cement used up incase it rains again..I've enough to do another set all but the hypertufa ingredients, will see how this set turns out and if ok I'll pick what I need

Will get plastic and cover them up then Take a bath to clean myself up
I'm yukky

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Busy group here!
Just home from Torrington & Olds - lovely to visit with Jackie (Doug was at work), and then to Torrington to look at our lot - everytime I go out there, I feel more relaxed. It's so peaceful, and I can see where I'm going to plant the veggies, and the flowers/shrubs.
Bob also got some lumber for a base, for the metal shed we're re-building. We're going out this Saturday to do it.

Up early as well "M"

68 here, calling for rain most of the day but who knows, gardens are liking it so that is a plus

Got my housework done, now it's play time

Might go out and try and poor the globes before rain starts..can put them under the gazebo out of rain

Hardest part about these projects is waiting for the curing

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was out 1 1/2 hrs pouring a batch of hypertufa, thought it was going to rain and needed it done then sun came out Grrr

So skitters and I worked A batch of hypertufa, got the globes and bases poured, had way too much mixture so made 4 plant containers, great for succulents as you can leave them out all winter with plants in them and as soon as snow leaves they are gorgeous..

Having coffee and toast and ready to start my day

Now to gather another burst of energy..did put yesterday and today's work loathes in the wash..they've so much cement powder in them

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Gave up waiting for rain and watered well last night....you guessed it we got rain through the night.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Just like washing your car! :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just ran outside to put tarp over hypertufa pots, was pouring, by the time I got inside sun was shining..think those are the kind of rain spurts were are going to get.

Having 6 for supper Wednesday night, thinking of going to Barrie and picking up what I need..roasts in town just too darn expensive..Tim asked if I could do the crock pot roast, easy enough..farmers coop has fresh veggies..it's either that or I could go Tuesday and take Linda out for her birthday, sigh..Roger's birthday as well
Day is ticking, must decide

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

We have a huge downpour happening, and did last night too - mega rain!!

I am feeling so sad for Alberta today - they found who they think is the missing 5 yr old girl - murdered. The mother was found murdered the other day.
And between this, France & Dallas - a lot of tragedy in the past week.
And Jesus said

I've been listening to it on the news SUsan..tragic
There are no words for what is going on in the world..don't even know if 'execution/hanging would help is some way...

Calgary stampede ends tomorrow? They've had mega rain this year. NOT good.

Just getting ready to go to Barrie..will be on a mission

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Read about them finding the little girl ..honestly I was just sick ..such a sweet child .. am so hoping they have the killer of both her and her Mom!!!
Seems human lives are no longer sacred and to be kept safe and whole.

Been doing lots of this and that .. Betty .. I bought a blade roast at the Superstore the other day .. around 4 pounds .. $28.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND, that was on SALE !

My friend in Cowtown is enjoying all the Stampede 'freebies' .. breakfasts, pre show tours etc ..

Booked a room in Sault Ste Marie for the trip east in October .. Thunder Bay to the Sault (Soo) is about 450 miles .. far enough for day one .. then from the Sault to Orangeville the next day .. 425 miles
Should be awesome with the leaves turning .. fingers crossed ..

Best go bring the laundry in off the line ..

Here I am. I've been fighting a vicious vertigo. At least now I can lift my head up.

You all have been busy. The heat here is a bit cooler but HIGH.humidity.

My heart just aches for all of those people in France

My rash is much better today. It has getting growing smaller all day. I used After Bite plus Benadryl It feels like is is starting to spread down my right shoulder

Saw the physio on Wed. We are both thinking along the same lines. He did his initial intake tests. So he refreshed my memory about exercises for my back and now I will do them at home. Just call him if things aren't working. Plus we will touch base once a week. This is the Physio I saw 3 times a week for well over a year.

Poured rain for most of the night. Today the sun has finally come out.

Dianne and TH

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

The last day of the Stampede is this Sunday, the 17th, so two more days.
Don't know what they're doing during yesterday's and today's torrential downpour though. Today & tomorrow it's supposed to be 90% chance of rain, and I know people having garage sales, too - hope they provide umbrellas, and have other cover.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Somehow "M" we will have to meet up, would be nice if you could spend a night??
Freshco only had smaller roasts so had to bye 2 but got them at a good price, think 2 were $39..I will have left over so will bag slices so mom can just take a pkg out here and there while she is here looking after Missy.

Dianne, you are having a time of it..vertigo, sore back and a rash...Lordy hope the TH are looking after you. How many times a week will you have to go for physio

They are calling for cooler temps the next few days , likely you will get the same. Went to Barrie, traffic wasn't as heavy tonight..likely many on 2 week vacation.

Susan, city will be a lot quieter Monday.

Didn't pick up supper so best I find something g to eat..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

s'funny, but it's quieter in the outskirts of the city now. Sure, we hear fireworks at night, but everyone seems to be either at the Stampede grounds during the day, away on vacation, or staying in during the rain.
We're still having a lot of rain - feel like singing "rain, rain, go away, come back another day", but also hoping that there won't be any rain for our move.....

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Saw the orthopedic guy this evening. He said there is a fair amount of arthritis, and he doesn't want to do the arthroscopic surgery until he is sure it will help with my problems, so I got a cortisone shot, and I'm supposed to go back in a week. I can't imagine that if surgery's the fix, it wouldn't help. I wasn't having knee problems before getting body slammed in the knee by the pups. We'll see, I'm hoping it helps enough that I can manage the dog show a week from tomorrow!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

oh my..... Deb - sounds like those pups really slammed you! Sorry that you're hurting so much

Verona, ON

Sharon's sleep angels have gone away. I will take them anytime just to get to sleep.

Deb I like what your Ortho is saying to you. As someone who has had either 8 or 9 surgeries on my right knee if there is anything you can do rather than that do it While hindsight is good I wish I had it as I wouldn't have let them touch that knee.. I had a brace made for my right knee... and that really helped. It was paid for from our health plan. This guy does the same thing as Lorna's guy only this guy was really on the ball.

Betty was it Foodland that had the roasts on sale ? I am having 2 friends for lunch sometime next week.Just looked back and it is Frescho that has the roasts. We have 1 of them in Ktown.

Couldn't see where all the wasps were coming from and then I looked up .
there I''ll have to get some wasp spray in the morning.

Well my dark chocolate is gone so I best get off of here before I get into my dark chocolate stash.

See ya all in the morning.

Dianne and TH

LK how are you doing ? I am amazed that you haven't really experienced all the foul weather Texas has.

Physio and I met this week. It is the same guy who I saw after my accident. He refreshed my memory about the exercises we used to do. So we decided I can do the exercises at home and would call him if there any problems. Plus every couple of weeks we would connect either by phone or I will drive into Ktown.

M how are things in the north ? You've had this heat this week, right?

Diesel and Chaos have been velcored to me the for the last couple of days. They sure know when things aren't going right. Their emergency boxes that I have packed worked out really well.

Well this post is all mixed up. I am not going back to fix it

Good Saturday morning ..

Dianne .. we have had, and, are getting the heat :-( BUT, right now it's only 46F !
No wonder there are few Hummies here this summer ..
The coming week will see some temps over 100 .. luckily, one day at a time ..
THEN .. boom .. down they go to 70 again ..
Just hoping October is a good weather month .. travelling THAT stretch of the Trans Canada is not nice, except for the exquisite scenery !

Dump day .. be still my heart .. doubtless we'll have a truck full ..
DH is off to the country market, and, cronie coffee ..

Deb .. I sure hope the cortisone decreases the inflammation .. it won't heal the tears though .. quite the situation ..

Betty are your globe stands done ?
I think Lorna and I will be south of you by a bit.
Have a room booked in Orangeville .. then once the wedding is done, we'll head towards King City .. for a couple of days, then, head home ..

Best let my TH out :-)

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

55 here right now, high of 72
Going outside to work for the day p, lots of weed eating so with cooler temps I can wear slacks to take the brunt of grass

Deb, maybe the cortisone will help for a tad...sometimes you wish they would just operate and get it over, take your chances..yep, you sure got slammed by the furries to have caused such injury, they are big dogs.

"m" depending which route you are taking you might be no more than 5 minutes away or 1/2 hr. Hoping we can get something worked out if nothing more than meeting at a coffee shop. DS Sharon lives in Orangeville. Yes, everything is poured for the water feature, hoping to take the sauna tubes off this morning and see if they urged out..I'm doubtful as I don't think I should have poured in such high temps.

Dianne, got the roasts in freshco, find when I'm in Barrie it's my grocery store of choice. Did you hog the sleep angels last night lol, Lordy I couldn't sleep, mind wandered all over the place..usually I get that way when much to do and before holidays. With your vertigo and needing physio it's good that you are able to do the excersises at home.

Lindakay saw that you are in the 100's today

Debbie, check in when you can, wondering how you are doing? Mom and aunt Muriel asked if I'd take them to Buffalo weekend of the 12th so guess I get back on the monday from Newfoundland then Friday to Buffalo..ill be tired but I sure need to get mega supplies from Joann's.

Need another coffee and something for breakfast
Gab in a bit

Verona, ON

Betty Sharon's sleep angels passed me right by last night. Darn !!

Better get my teeth cleaned and plate in so I can get into the village before it gets too busy. LOL,LOL I am sure busy to you all is a far cry from what busy here in Verona.

(((Debbie))) I was just thinking how much I am missing our sweet gal.

Dianne, our spring had lots of rain, but nothing for a few months now. Everything is parched.
Yes Betty. We will be 107 again today.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Same here Dianne, Midland bustles with tourist but for small villages it's a major deal.

Yikes Lindakay, another scorching day..inside day for sure..how do you fill your days when inside for such a long time.

Sneezing here, runny nose..likely due to heat/cold..will take neocitrin and plug along

Skitters are loving this weather and ME

Got casing off my pieces..glass / cardboard, Drats need a rasp to file down roughness on the top top the pillars soi can add tubbing and glue the tops on..managed to get a few containers..will put them in a tote filled with water to leach them

Not sure I'm pleased with the but guess when in place and flowers around them and bubbling I'll take to them

Didn't make that coffee awhile ago so I need of one now

Looks like we are all up early and use, busy, busy!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Diane, for wasps & hornets nests....wait until evening and spray with soapy water. Use a bottle that shoots a stream. It will wipe out the whole nest with no toxic chemicals. They will start dropping immediately.

More company arrived last night. DGS, wife & daughter & dog. Always enjoy having them here. We are heading halfway downstate tomorrow to see the traveling Viet Nam Memorial Wall. I have a QOV I'm taking with plans to choose a vet and present it. Will check with wall sponsors first to make sure it's OK. Also meeting DD as it's her in-laws involved with the wall. DD in law will also be meeting us to take home DGS and his friend who have been here a while. I won't know what to do with only 4 kids here the rest of the month.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I don't do a whole lot. This heat just makes us tired. I need to get my sewing machine out and do something.
Karen, take pictures please?
