Hey Judy, sounds like you are staying busy and out of trouble! Don't over do it. When are you going to California? It sounds like a nice trip, give them hugs from us.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends old/new!
judy lol,
betty your always welcome I have room.
hello to all.
We have just ended our worst tourist event. The National Cherry Festival. Something like 500,000 visitors. Starts around the 4th and lasts a week. Blue Angels Air Show, parades. many entertainers on the bayside stages, Food, food, food. We were downstate for the beginning and just stuck close to home all week. Today we took the kids to the mouth of the Platte River a very popular tubing and kayaking site. River is slow, shallow and clear. When it finally reaches the mouth, it turns and parallels Lake Michigan for quite a ways before it empties in. River water is quite a bit warmer than the lake too but the kids had fun in each. River is in the foreground, Lake Michigan just beyond the sand bar.
Why was it your worst event?
Morning all,
High of 75 today, feels like rain but they are not calling for rain, nice breeze..while sitting having coffee I could see leaf limbs falling from the tree, wonder if something is in the tree munching,Mars to believe they would just fall..
Liz, almost hoping the gals cancel out, you never know..wouldn't need to be entertained, I'd do lots of day trips..when is Judy visiting? Will Steve be going with her? So many questions..thank you for saying I'd be welcome..same here if you ever get our passport.
Guess it's the same for all major events, one has to put up with masses as everyone wants to partake in the events..
Karen, beaches are spectacular, is it within a day trip or are you away for a bit? We have Wasaga beach here, longest fresh water beach, not sure, but think in North America
Laurel, you got to see a lot, only trip to Canada, well girl if you ebpveryevery have time away from gardens etc, come visit.
Going downstairs, set up my sewing machine for appliqué, might do a tad of quilting..
I just ordered the fixings for the cement feature that Sharon did..also order a new wheelbarrow, Greg always borrows mine, half the time I need it he's busy and brings it later..called him and say you are now the proud owner of a wheelbarrow, bought a new one..
Linda it was worst because getting around this area is difficult at the best of times. When there are 500,000 extra people, it's near impossible. There is only one route to get through and past downtown, it becomes a solid car blockade. I understand it's good for the economy but.......we are constantly told how lucky we are to live here, it is beautiful, We have spectacular beaches with clean sand and clear water. Our cherry crop is about the largest in the world, we're also becoming well known for out wineries as our weather is comparable to the wine regions of France. Every summer the chief topic in the paper is how poor our roads and routes are designed but nothing is ever planned or done.
Wow, if it's bringing in so many $$$ you would think they would put in more roads..Barrie has done the same Karen, it's grown so big and all stems off 2 roads that are not equipped to handle town traffic let alone city traffic.
Nice for working out in the gardens this morning but so wet, hope no poison ivy where I'm cleaning out...yep, some critter in the tree eating mini branches..won't have much of a tree if it won't use..wonder what it could be..a couple of areas almost look like they are stuffing leaves together for a nest..Drats and more Drats!
Sounds like a squirrel?
Part of the problem here is the geography of the area..Town is in a valley with a ridge on one side. Throw in a big river and lake in town. plus situated on a bay and I can understand somewhat the problem to be dealt with. It's just so frustrating to try and do a simple grocery shopping. However if I go when the weather is nice, stores are fairly empty.
Lindakay, Tmb mart came to deliver my order and the driver said he thought it was a sqirrrel as well, at this rate there will be no leaves left😬
Find that here as well, when weather is nice everyone at the beaches and lakes Karen, but if we have mega heat wave then they are all in the stores to cool down.
Dianne, how are you doing, haven't seen you post in a bit?
OH NO! You're not young anymore?
Up and down and off n on the puter today due to TStorms and wind and rain.
Nice to hear from you Judy, and Liz ..
More thunder .. off I go
~M~
One of my daughters thought I was old when I was 23 so I guess it's all relative. I intend to continue doing what I can do for as long as I can do it.
Same here Karen..
Looks like a storm is brewing here as well, hope not as I covered the bags of concrete but they are on the ground with tarp underneath..
Went to Home Depot and pick up 3 glass globes..yikes $45' got home and Linda called, restore has 42 of the, $4 each..she is not sure if they are 8", could be 6" , I'll make do with the 6" if that is all they have and return the ones I just picked up..
Tired tonight, might have to have my bath and get comfy, call it an early night
Laurel - when we move, we won't be living far from Drumheller with the hoodoos, etc. I've been up in them, and it's quite interesting. Narrow walkways so it's difficult to meet "coming & going". Sorry to hear you had a bad experience amont them. It can be daunting though.
Not sure about the meerkats (they do have some in Edmonton, so maybe), and as for Moose Moss..... don't think so lol
Did you get any geodes while there? Beautiful crystals hidden in rocks. Never know what you'll get when you crack one open.
Banff isn't quite what it used to be - the waters aren't natural hot springs anymore - it's man-made heat, but still nice, so I've been told.
Good morning
Rained most of the night along with an impressive 'light show' .. everything is well watered ..
Looks as though it could come your way Betty .. hope your cement is OK
Good deal on the Globes at the Restore ..
Karen, can't fathom the crowds and the traffic .. just glad you had a good time ..
Today is the day we go to make our funeral arrangements .. feel kind of 'odd' .. know it has to be done, but, well, I think you know what I mean :-)
Long as I can write my own obit, i'm cool with it .
Best get on with letting dogs in and out
TTFN

Morning all,
Not calling for rain today, missed us last night but with humid ex etc it will feel like 102..glad I have a/c
"m" although off I'm sure it will people less stressful then when a family member has to do it..
Susan, why on earth would "man" play with such beauty?? Will we never learn.
Girls come this morning, leVes me the afternoon to fill in, not sure in this heat I will try to do the water feature forms, might dry too quickly..I will read up on hypertufa and see if it's a good idea or not, if not then I will appliqué..anxious to get the blue onto the blocks..think once one is done I will be more enthused to finish the other 3
Had a cleaning day yesterday...have to do it every few months LOL. Kids are good about amusing themselves when I'm busy. Even had them clean out the fridge for lunch.
They didn't play with the beauty, Betty - the "water" part of the springs is what's changed. They're no longer natural mineral water
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/dry-banff-hot-springs-baffles-scientists-1.1009748
Way to go Karen..hardest think for me to do is clean my refrigerator..when Linda dvisit she looks for science projects within..lol
Glad the kids are helping out...with this weather I'm sure that most of their time is spent outdoors making less work?
Have leftover said, steak etc for lunch, think I might take a run to midland and pick up Chinese..1 dinner usually lasts me 2 days..
Not sure in this heat if I should start my project, wouldn't cure as well..might have to wait for cooler temps
By cleaning it out, I meant eating left overs for lunch.
wow - ears & all, eh? What did Marcus say?
Indeed they do look alike..
He thought it was cool. They didn't really remember him. He passed when they were quite little.
Uncanny resemblance, Karen.
Susan, we were at the Fairmont Banff Springs; the old railway hotel. It has a spa with spectacular mineral springs pools on site. Our arrangements included a spa package for me since SO was otherwise occupied with meetings most of the day. It's called Willow Stream Spa at Banff. Gorgeous! I didn't go to the park springs but did alot of hiking in the park. I think it was actually early 2000, not nineties as I originally said.
Betty, it would be great to meet. Are you far from Bellingham?
5 1/2 hr drive Laurel
I am 1 1/2 hrs north of Toronto
You are about 16 hr drive
Look for a flight, pick you up at airport lol
Or if you like to drive, come on over

I've never been in the Fairmont Springs Hotel, but got lots of pictures of it. It's a beautiful old building. Each of my two sisters went there - one for an anniversary, the other for a family weekend. One didn't like it because they were renovating - had tall narrow windows in the original suite and the room was too big and so the hotel gave them another room with more light from larger windows. Something about that one they didn't like either. Oh well, can't please everyone.
We don't go to Banff except as a drive-through and stop in some shops - a little too touristy and very expensive. There is some gorgeous scenery in the area!
Raining again - every late afternoon & night for the past week & a half. Not hearing much of the fireworks. I think the clouds let loose from the noise!
We had a lovely visit from a lady who's moving (with her hubby) to Torrington too. A friend in common goes to our church as we do, and told her about us moving to Torrington. We shared hints, and our phone #s, as well as current addresses so we can keep in touch. Bob started to say something about our former tenants, but I shushed him. Told her that I'd been taught that if I didn't have anything nice to say, not to say anything at all. And that will be the end of that.
Five more weeks :-D
Morning all,
Another day with a feels like 100...playing havoc on the gardens!
I was out for an hour watering, hope it helps somewhat.
Will head downstairs to my craft room, lots to keep me busy for the day. Look at those forms for the water feature but think heat wave will be over in a few days and I can get them poured then.
How is the weather in your neck of the woods
Going to be another 100+ day here. Already 82 here in Texas.
Might hit about 89 here, with rain possible today and tomorrow ..better than 90+ as it has been, just wipes me.. poor Lorna works in it .. 90% humidity .. gruelling ..
Flowers and veggies are doing well .. have LOTSA water :-)
Appt with my rheumatologist this aft .. never quite know what to expect .. quiet fella, completely in sync with his computer .. our family doc is the opposite ..
But, as a diagnostician, well, he's very good ..
Need to go and pay for our funeral arrangements now that they are made .. don't take debit ..
Best move along before I seize up LoL
~M~
Hot here too, third day the kids don't mind as much as I do.
"m" was making the arrangements as hard as you thought they might be?
Don't know how you keep up with so many appointments..
Poor Lorna, you would think they would send staff home when it's Sooo hot
Lindakay not far behind you in temps
Was working in the craft room and thought I'd best come up and turn a/c to a higher temp..Lordy fingers are numb as its so cold..soon have to put mitts on lol
Kids can endure heat Karen, in/out of the lake would cool them down..don't see any kids out playing, all inside or all at the beach.
Nice Susan that you found a friend who will be located in same park as you..you haven't unpacked have you seeing you would have to pack it all back up to move? Imagine you can't leave anything in cupboard or out where they could roll and break during move..does the moving company give any kind of guarantee that they will get the mobile home that far without damage?
See I have 2 loads of laundry, think I'll do it now..looking forward to taking clothes out of the dryer so I can warm my hands while folding them.
rain rain rain in the forecast - luckily enough it usually seems to happen at the end of the day, so we get to do stuff early most days, but "promises" to rain this morning & afternoon.
We were going to head to Olds to get lumber for the footing of the metal shed and build it, but Bob's not up yet lol
You will build it on site of your new location?
Funny, someone's early is not always our early
Well I had salads not lunch yet but body said it was close enough..going outside to work in gardens for a tad then back to sewing..
Been hungry for Chinese, again, not sure I'll venture out to get some..last night opted for cheeseburger next door.
Got my MRI results, my knee is messed up good, but she said it's fixable. 3 tears in the meniscus, two in the lateral, 1 in the medial meniscus, plus a baker's cyst. I'm waiting for a call back from the orthopedic guy she recommended, so I can set up an appointment. I don't think this is going to be fun.
Betty, that is hot for you guys. Please be careful.
Deb, omg you've been keeping a hard pace schedule with such injury, what tremendous pain you must be in..no operation then or is that the 2nd alternative?
Let's hope you get in quickly..could you go on leave?
Wonder how Sharon and Debbie are doing?
Worry, Dianne hasn't posted in a bit and she is getting this heat wave..
Likely barb is keeping indoors
