I have not heard about that Betty. Sending prayers.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Neither had I .. I did hear a young (45) woman in the British Parliament was stabbed in broad daylight today .. she died ..
Awful awful world out there, no wonder we are all so careful ..

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

It said several were stabbed in upper floor of a Calgary mall, thought to be at least one dead..must listen to evening news

Verona, ON

I haven't heard anything about Calgary either. But I did go outside when the news was on for about 20 min. I will be watching the news tonight so should hear something. Actually found a news show on for Insomniacs. It comes on from NY live at 3:30 am. The link into the news says its Channel x that has been bringing news to insomniacs for over 30 years.

M how are you feeling ?

Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was at a doctors office, think one dead and a few others stabbed..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

omg - had not heard anything about this!!
I checked, and it wasn't in a Mall, it was in a Chinese Wellness Clinic

Well, I am here and we are in a heat wave. Suppose to be 117 by Monday. But, Phoenix is worse. And it is going to be windy. Wind with heat is the kiss of death for a garden.

A purchased a new car Tuesday. A small CRX Honda SUV. Easy to get in and out of and a nice hatch back I can get Vern's wheelchair in and out of and Vern's sport car helped pay for it. We drive about 15 miles a week..I told Betty I was coming up and pick her up for a ride.

Wow, Susan, at 6k a month I am surprised they do not have a long line waiting for that job.

I am making progress on a daily basis. I go to the surgeon next Thursday. I had x-rays earlier in the week. Should also be released to drive. My daughter is still bringing over dinner every night and walking the dogs. The dogs have each lost 2 pounds because she runs with them. They now each weight 20 #s.

Linda, so pleased you had a great birthday and trip to the beach. Hives, hives go away, come and visit another day....

Barb, I was on a nebulizer a few years back when I had a really nasty lung infection. Made me run around like a mad woman afterwards. Must have steroids in the medicine. Your upcoming BBQ sounds wonderful.

Marilyn, I hope you are getting better from your shot. Did you watch Brain Dead. Worms in the brain. Vern was watching it and I was on the computer. I told him no way was a watching a new series with worms in the brain.

Dianne, I am praying your back is getting better. Mine had made the turn to good. But I am still wearing the brace and doing what I am told.

Hugs to you all. . Sharon

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It's such a small community - only 90 homes, so I suppose that's why they're not lining up for the job. Plus, it's a farming community. Maybe they just don't have the time.

117!!!!!!! WOW

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning ..
Feeling, "OK" , and, that's as far as I'll go .. persistent niggling headache is taking me down for the count .. probably be better after today ..

We are also in a heat wave .. gag me .. well above 90 WITH humidity .. thank heavens for central air.
117 would choke me up I am sure ..

Did watch some video reporting on the stabbings in Calgary .. not nice, both that tragedy and the one in Britain were perpetrated with knives ... the whole Orlando thing is almost too hard to even listen to.

Sharon .. enjoy your new ride, I'm sure you'll like it ..
As for Worms in the Brain .. nope can't watch stuff like tha, WAS watching a show called 'CONTAINMENT' and, had to stop .. way too much blood for me ..

Dianne .. how's the back ? Because I have been feeling 'punky', I have been laying in bed, and, my back HATES it ..

Lorna is doing well working in the heat .. how she does it is anyone's best guess ..

Wonder how Judy is doing and Debbie too ..

Get that sprinkler system set up. You're going to need it. It has been low hundreds here with heat indexes making it 113-117. No one goes out when it is that hot.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Just checking in. 117, wow! That would do me in for sure! Showing my boys at a nearby dog show tomorrow. Hoping it doesn't get too much into the 80's here. At least the show is inside and air conditioned!
Betty, where are you going on your next adventure. I know you said Eastern Provinces, what fun adventures do you have planned? It's probably been more than 15 years since I've been that way.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

High of 79 with humidity at 48..think I'd rather stick with my winters gals..

Deb, good luck at the show, do the points you earn at these smaller shows count for your final goal? (I should know what that goal is but escapes me this morning)

Sharon, exciting to get a new vehicle, CRX Honda is a beauty..yep, love to ride with you but I'm more than 15 miles away, bet you are anxious to get the go ahead for driving....your daughter sure is a blessing to you. How you endure that heat is beyond me, shaking my head, couldn't survive it..here is hoping your gardens won't be hit.

Lindakay are your gardens all watered by a sprinkler? Here, gardens get watered by me or Mother Nature..too big to even contemplate a watering system.

I'm with you "M"', too difficult to even imagine what is going on in the world right now..usually don't watch the news but. It came on as 'breaking' news and overtook the movie I was watching. Hope that shot works for you, to have to endure the headaches when getting it is too much.

Susan, they made it sound like it was upper floor of a mall where doc's have their offices..one woman was brave, she ran out to another office, got tow let's and went back to help by putting on wound of an individual, brave of her..

Had my coffee, time to get dressed and at it..

Will work out in the gardens for a bit, maybe even sit out and enjoy them for a bit..
No plans for today so no rushing to get anything done...might try and get another block to the 'my Canada' quilt started, great way to pass the time, playing with cut outs, finished the PEI blocks yesterday..now at half way mark, all downhill from here.

I'm thrilled to have the 2016 Newfoundland trip organized, tickets purchased for fjord boat trip in Gross Morne National Park, whale watching and iceberg boat tour in Twillingate, Anchors Away music show..even got cabin on the ship for our travels just incase someone is sea sick (like me)

Barb, have you been seeing your family was from there?

Best I get a move on

OH Betty ..love the Puffin ..
I have seen icebergs in Twillingate, but, from shore .. makes you just stare in wonderment .. so HUGE some of them ..
I have a friend who lives in BADGER .. very small little town, filled with amazing people ..
I'm with you on the heat .. was going to put the laundry on the line, but, it's in full sun, I would have had a stroke fer sure .. so .. and Betty will get this as well as Dianne .. I am going to run the dryer during PEAK hours .. I'm sure Ms. Wynne will revel in the money made from me LoL

Deb, best of luck with your poocheroos ..

How's the hives LK?

Guess I should DO something constructive, like wash floors or clean bathrooms .. maybe .... later :-)

Off to play Scrabble

HUGS

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - we were both right - Medical Office is where it happened, IN a mall. You're right - it was Very brave of that woman to help. The fellow who started this all was only partially injured, so she could have been hurt..... I don't know what I'd do in that situation.... I'm sure others were hoping "someone" would step up and do something, and someone DID - running on sheer adrenaline, I'm sure - What a nightmare!
Marilynne - where's Badger? How's your headache? gone, I hope.
Dianne - back feeling better? Hope you're resting.
LK - itching better? What did you do to relieve it?
Sharon - hope it's not as hot as the WLs are saying - 117F?!?!?!

High of 68 here - nice & sunny with a bit of a breeze
40% chance of isolated showers on Sat, and scattered showers on Sunday. Hope it's nice for our Yard Sale :-)

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Love your quilt squares, Betty! Your Newfoundland trip will be fun, I'm sure! Gros Morne is so beautiful! Last time I was there we drove up to L'Anse Aux Meadows, just lovely. We never did an iceberg boat tour, that should be neat! We did see icebergs when we were at a couple different lighthouses on the eastern side. I always wanted to go to the two French islands off the coast, but haven't made it that far, yet!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohh Deb, getting excited then, we don't have enough time to do L'Anse aux Meadows but my son Greg and his wife Mel are going there..will have to get him to take photo's for me..hoping on the iceberg tour we may see one but it may be too late..doesn't matter, we will make the best of it.

Susan, hope you do well with garage sale!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like a beautiful trip Betty. I know you will take lots of pictures to share with us.
Your quilt blocks are beautiful. I know you are getting excited it is almost done?
Hives are gone. I had a few smalls ones at the beach Tuesday morning, but nothing since then. I still take my prednisone, so maybe it is finally working?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great news Lindakay, now if only you could find out why you get them.

Aunt Muriel dropped in for a visit, bringing along my cousin Barb, got the what for for doing so much. Lol

Did groceries, head start on the weekend..picked up the local newspaper, Tay Report seeing as Kyle was on front page with his other grandmother Betty. Good write up..

Oh my Betty Kyle has grown up to be a handsome dude. Is he still in TO?

I spent the afternoon with Maryl. It was her DH that passed away this week. She doesn't want to be alone . We had a few laughs and she said her kids don't think she should be laughing right now. Personally I think she needs to have an outlet for laughing. She is doing quite well but a few troubles with her son,. dil and dd. Son's wife threw a hissy fit when she saw that Tom's first wife was mentioned in the Obit.

I have the AC on and the TH are all laying over a vent. My back is still in pretty bad shape. I thought I was OK and went and lifted some rocks. Nope !!

Best of luck Deb at the show this weekend.

M how are you doing today ?

need to get outside with the TH, Will BBL
Dianne and her TH

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, they sure wouldn't want to attend one of our funerals as we focus on good times, laugh upon laugh..does one good..a way of healing..almost like an Irish wake but a French wake. Moshe will have to be strong with her kids or they will take over...she is lucky to have you, someone who has been through it.

Kyle lives here in town and works in Barrie, yep, all grown up.

A/C on here as well, going to cook corn on the cob and have an easy evening

Re: family from Newfoundland---
My grandmother was from Herring Neck and my grandfather was from Hatchet Harbor. Both families had moved to the Boston area and that is where they met. They survived a horrible fire in the city in 1906 and when my grandmother died in 1966, she still had the blanket that the fire service had given them... She was a wonderful lady and the only person who could get me to drink tea. Now I love it. My grandfather was a master cabinetmaker. He passed in 1964. i still miss them both very much and my memories of them are happy ones.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm going to mark those towns on my list Barb...will be interesting.

Victoria Harbour, ON

When we are in Twillingate Barb we are but 10 miles away, just might make a run and take photo's...no distant family left there??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

My how fast they grow. I hope he did good raising funds.

Dianne, sorry to hear your back is still hurting. I hope you see the doctor soon.

Waiting for the sun to go down so I can get the hose out and water all the flowers again. 103 this afternoon.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

103??????? That's a BIG yikes!!

Just outside planting flowers in pots on our deck - looking very skimpy in the Yard Sale side...... I had thought we were going to have some help setting it up, but don't know what happened to our helpers - messaged the "head" of the group to ask.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I hope they will show up.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Should reach 80 today..a/c on

Supper and horse races at 6

Shopping for a tombstone floral arrangement for Roger, always do it on Father's Day

Drop into Paul's for coffee/visit on the lake

And now dashing off to a garage sale at my brother Bernie's..don't need anything but seeing he just sold he wants me to come and look

There goes my day

Enjoy your day, make sure that if you are in the oven zone, stay inside, urgent heat warnings for many of your areas as per news this a.m.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

memories for you, Betty, for sure *Big Hugs*

Our yard sale was an unqualified success - sold a lot of camping stuff - made about $300, then bought pizza for our helpers and gave them a tip - only cost $60 for that, so still made quite a bit of $$. I'd posted our Yard sale for "friends and residents of Midfield" hoping to bypass our former tenants because they are neither.
They posted that they'll "drop by to buy some ladders". I know that wasn't going to happen, because the ladders were a bone of contention for us. And they know they're not welcome. I didn't reply, because if they did come by we have the Demand Letter from the lawyer to hand them. They wouldn't want to come here, just pulling our strings or so they think. We're not going to buy into their little schemes. Regardless, Bob's put a huge screw into the 4x4 at the deck gate so no one is able to push the gate open.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good to hear the yard sale was a success .. as for your tenants .. forget them, it's in the past ,block their email .. any contact is just making them gloat ..

Another 'scorcher' on the way today .. mid 90s .. never even left the house yesterday, well, once in the car to town, but AC all the way

Ordering Chinese Food for Fathers Day .. that'll be the trip out today ..

Hope everyone has a wonderful day ..

~M~

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

At a wedding yesterday, our DDIL's nephew. That sounds like a remote relationship but we are pretty close with all her family.
We are staying at youngest DD's, rest will be here today except for youngest son who is at our house and will be all week.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Happy Father's Day to all those celebrating, for we who have lost our fathers. Hugs, know we are enjoying our memories of them.

Susan, glad the garage sale went well..extra $$$ for the move.

"m" Chinese, way to go, beats cooking..here is hoping Murray calls Gord.

Hot day here as well
Jeff just called, he drove Braedon north yesterday for 2 months out camping/lake portaging..this year he manages a camp, kudos to himcaleb goes in two weeks. He is on his way up to golf with Greg then they will be here around 3.

Had a great time last night at races, buffet was good, company aces and I broke even. On the way to the races I stopped into Michaels for the tombstone arrangement, $89.99, got to the till, full price..i,said no 50% off , no, he says you buy 1 get the 2nd one for 50% off, now what a thing to put in that kind of sale..could have walked back to the car and got a 40% coupon that I had on iPad but it pi@&$ Me off, left without it,,Sooo this morning heading into town, I've the tombstone clip so I'll shop for flowers and make one so when we visit grave sight tonight we'll have one.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

that's DGD Brooklyn has been in a car accident.
Driving off to see her boyfriend, her tire hit the gravel shoulder, and, she get flipped over ..
No one stopped as she was in a ditch .. she had to crawl out through a window, walk up out of the ditch, and , then someone stopped.
She's in emerg, all is well, has a sore right hip and some cuts and bruises ..
I SO hope she was NOT texting !!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad she's ok ..

M

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg "M", could have been tragic..you must be sick with worry..hugs
Will take her a bit to heal I'm sure!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'll say a prayer for Brooklyn "M" That must have been very scary......

Verona, ON

Oh M I sure hope she wasn't texting too. Will you get another update or do you have to get it second hand,?

*Sigh* I spent the afternoon with my neighbour yesterday. Ron passed on Wed. He was supposed to be coming home on Friday. Maryl had both of their children and their spouses at the Funeral Home when she was making the arrangements. Then they all went back to the son's home for lunch. Maryl was writing up the Obit for the paper. She wanted to include Tom's first wife in the Obit. The present DIL slammed out of the room. Maryl and Ron had a close relationship with Laurie even after Tom had left their marriage. Why can't people just put things all aside and just get along during these hard days? *SIGH*

The TH have been holy terrors today. They do not like the heat. Matter of fact they are all laying over a floor vent. I have the AC on. About an hour a ago the temp here was 92*F now mind you the gauge is on the lakeside deck.

THREE CHEERS FOR LORNA !!!!

Did Deb say her dog show was inside ?

Hope you are all keeping cool.. There is a breeze here but it is a hot breeze.

Dianne and her TH

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

M, prayers she is OK, and that you get an update.

Dog show was inside, yesterday. Klaus won his class, didn't enter today's show. Very hot out here. No AC here, but the dogs are all sprawled out on the floor in front of the fans. Temp is down to 88 now. Was 90 earlier.

Heard last night that Beachboy, the would-be stud dog, that was left with me has Lyme's disease. A rescue group helped me find a new home for him, since his owner wasn't interested in getting him back. She picked him up from me a week ago, and had a complete vet check yesterday. I understand it's a tick borne disease, and I have never found ticks on my dogs. I don't know if he came to me with it, or, if somehow he got it while here. Waiting for morning to call my vet to see if I have to have my 7 tested.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, I'm with you, enough trauma dealing with a loved one that you sure don't need the extra drama..sad isn't it! So glad she has you...the TH sure know where to go to get comfy..temps about the same here..calling for rain tomorrow, gardens will enjoy a soaking..is it dry in your neck of the woods?

Any news "M" on Brooklyn? Is there a system in place for watering in the cemetery or does Lorna have to use watering can?

Great on the wing Deb..is the Lyme disease contagious? Here is hoping your 7 are ok. Posting a photo of Sharon's puppies..

Barb, how did you and Norm spend Father's Day?

Had a lovely day, got to Walmart, not a lot of flowers to pick from but managed to get a tombstone topper done.

Jeff arrived, found me resting on back deck patio set, we sat and chatted, loved it..he wants me to take his jeep to Newfoundland, only 30k on it so he thinks it will make it but problem is its a standard and Suzanne can't drive standard, would mean leaving all the driving to Rita and I.. Must ask Greg is most of the terrain is mountains, think I'd rather drive automatic if it is.

Busy weekend, had Rita over for supper, now it's bedtime

Gab later

Oh, my gosh, what adorable puppies!! So sweet. Lovely floral arrangement for the tombstone.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you found some flowers. I have bee to stores that do the same thing, tell me coupon is different than printed. Love the puppies!
Deb, congrats on the win. Lymes is not contagious, but other dogs can get it if they get the ticks on them.
"M", sorry to hear about Brooklyn. Sending prayers.
