Marilynne - one of the RNs that came by here to take bloodwork said that her sister who's 5'11" could not move (broken back) and was upstairs - they had to bring the stretcher not only upstairs but around the corner on the stairs. She was well over 250 lbs. The nurse said I should have been taken right away in the stretcher from our suite. Anyway, I've put in a claim with the Patient Relations dept. They called while I was out today, so I'll speak to them tomorrow.
I have pink eye - my left eye is feeling swollen and just hurting.... I got some Polysporin antibiotic for pink eye, and hope this works - use it 4 x a day.
Went to Knit & Knatter this morning, and was supposed to go to my sock knitting class this afternoon, BUT, I must have twisted my knee because it's really painful, so I called Bob & he took me to my Dr and renewed my prescription for hydromorph, T3's and my regular meds. I'd let my hydromorph expire and was taking T3's and they seemed to be doing just as well but not really...... I think the Hydromorph wore off, so now I'm in a lot of pain.
So far today I've taken 2 of T1s and 1 of T3s. Will start my hydromorph tonight at bedtime and it will likely take a few days to kick in...... can hardly wait. Until then I'll rest easy, do some knitting, and sewing and relax.
We will be looking at some property straight north of the mobile park - about 3 miles out of the city. It's 5 acres, not cleared, and with no power or gas. There's a well on the property, and that would do me just fine. The only thing I know I need, if internet, which will mean I also get phone.service through the modem.
Betty - hope you're feeling better. Not sure that knitting will be easy enough when you're needing to rest and take it easy.
Karen - more blood out than in? no, that's not right.
Marilynne - hoping that Lorna's dad is better. Also hoping that Lorna gets her prosthetic is fitted and comfortable.
Best/Worse/what did I learn today? Chat with friends old/new
Sure hope this Dr. is on the right track and will soon get to the bottom of what's going on with you.
Good morning ..
Well, at least you know something Betty ..
Hope today is a better day ..
Karen, sounds good to me .. blood levels change all the time .. if your hgb had been really low it may not have climbed up
As with Betty I hope you have a good day.
LK .. Lorna will be going back to work without a NEW leg :-(
She is on a cancellation list for an apt he next booked apt is May 12.
She's very disappointed as she puts her heart and soul into her work, and is NOT a slacker .. the leg will hold her baclk a bit
Her boss knows and understands ..
Suns coming up, birds are chirping .. time to get this house rockin and rollin !!!
BBL
~M~
Morning all, can see it will be a sunshine day out there, big sigh I'm not out working on my gardens, but that's ok, maybe next week.
Nurses shift change, when they settle into their routine I will ask if the scan might be today??
Disappointing "M" for sure for Lorna, know she is chomping at the bit to get back..this new leg has been revamped in order for a better fit, is that what is taking so long?
Glad to hear Karen you've found out what is casing you grief..
Lindakay, guess you are starting with high temps and unable to get outside a lot to play with your roses?
Susan, Lordy Lordy, twisted your knee again..did the meds help
Breakfast soon here, best I go clean myself up
Good morning everyone.
Things are finally starting to quiet down here. I have had Sean and the puppy all week as he has had school vacation but with baseball practices. It is five miles from his house to the school but only two minutes from me. So Stacy has been dropping the two of them off with me and picking them up again after work. Plus she is interviewing for a new job also as her company is closing. So she doesn't get home until 6;30 - 7 each night. We have had dinner ready for her each night.
Today Brandon gets home from college for the year. I'm so anxious to see him again.
Maybe now I can really get into my sewing. I have tried all week to get just one curtain made and each time I sit at the machine, up comes the puppy. He is a miniature poodle and craves attention. I never got to see him much when we lived in Manchester but see him all the time now!!!! He is a sweet little thing and very lovable.
Most of the house is in pretty good shape now. We are going shopping on Saturday for a few things but all in all it is coming together nicely. I really think we will be happy here.
Sending prayers for you Betty and Deb and hoping you are getting better quickly.
So glad there are solutions for you Karen and praying they will continue to work well. Sure wish they could do something quickly for Lorna. And so glad to read you are mending well LK and Sharon. Waving a big hello to Judy, Dianne Debbie, and "M" and hoping you all have a great day.....~~~~~~~
Betty - you must be at a window-side in your hospital room? How lovely, and how very tempting to be looking out and not being able to "do" in your garden. Hopefully by the time you get out your neighbour will have cleared their yard (hope hope)
Barb - I'm picturing the puppy craving your attention while you're trying to sew awwww how sweet! Your new home sounds lovely - so bright & airy and you have a nice sewing room with a big window to watch the birdies from :-)
Marilynne - Glad to hear that Lorna's boss understands. I can understand how excited she would be, to get back to the gardens she knows and loves :-)
I'm going to see an eye Dr - Michelle says that pink eye doesn't hurt, and my eye hurts. Got a bit of discharge in the inside corner and the entire eye is dark pink. Can feel the pain up to my eyebrow on the outside edge - this all just started yesterday morning. Bob says not as swollen.
My right knee is still pretty painful, but I'm taking it pretty easy. It will take some time for the pain killers to kick in.
I got some lovely (1/4 yard) white fabric with blue maple leaves on it. This is a great bit of fabric for Susan's lap quilt.
I finished both of Bob's ankle slippers and now he wants soles on them for durability and slip-proofing. He thinks that a shoe repair place would have them. I'm thinking that fabric glue would affix them?
Anyway, going to see an eye Dr today, and find out what I can do about my left eye.
Hope everyone's having an awesome day, and my prayers and thoughts go out to everyone (sorry if I missed anyone - you ARE in my thoughts, always)
*Hugs to all*
Afternoon everyone. Back home from another day at therapy. Then stopped and paid a few bills.
Betty, I sure hope you feel better soon. Diverticulitis is nothing to mess with.
Kathy just had surgery for hers. Make sure you have enough fiber in your diet to keep things moving along. What is with the lesions in your brain?
Susan, I sure hope you can get that knee fixed soon. I know knee pain sucks.
I googled rubber soles for slippers, and I found several tutorials, that says you can squirt on puffy paint, or a clear silicone and let it dry.
Barb, it sounds like you are getting close to getting your new place in order, and that puppy sounds so cute.
"M", I sure hope Lorna gets her new leg soon!
Still in hospital, won't be long it will be super time.mam hungry so that is a plus!
Barb, your place sounds wonderful and to think it's nearfamily, nth at itself must make you smile
Susan, you were going to work on a quilt for Susan when you fell ill on her visit..am sure it's something you will get much joy out of..and yes, in a private room with view of the forest, peaceful setting...
Lindakay, did the same today paying bills online..makes it so easy now days. How much longer will you have to go for therapy? Noticing a big difference in your lifestyle I bet
3 more weeks for therapy. The muscles in my leg are being very stubborn. I still can't do a straight leg raise. But working on it. They will do the tens unit Monday, to try and wake up the muscles.
LK - Thank you for the idea - I googled the non-slip soles for Bob's slippers and this is what I found - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iqwbn9B8w8
We have a lot of silicone so this is perfect!
Yes, Betty - still making Susan's and Karie's lap quilts, fitting in with the knitting I'm doing as well (for church - prayer shawls and Fall Craft Sale). When I thought we were going to have Christmas in March, I started to make Susan a Christmas stocking and got stuck on the heel which is why I took the class I did and why I now have slippers for Bob LOL
It just keeps on building and building for "stuff to do" lol
oh, and while looking for fabric to do Susan & Karie's lap quilts, I found about 6 or more yards of a fabric I want to make a maxi summer dress from it. It's chocolate, swiss dot with small creamy orange rose buds on it. I've kept it since the 70's!! (talk about hoarding fabric, eh?). I need something for warmer weather, that's nice and comfortable. I got the pattern yesterday from Fabricland. It's supposed to take 1 day to make. I hadn't been able to find a free pattern online, but then Magga sent me a link, JUST after I bought a pattern ......... siiiiiiiiigh oh well, I have more patterns now!!! I can't believe how expensive patterns are nowadays!!
I gues I'm not as patient as I thought lol
LK - I hope your muscles get less stubborn! Praying for you.
Betty - how lovely to get a view of the forest!! lol I got a view of the parking lot when there were 2 of us...... when they moved me to a room with 4 of us, I got a view of the hallway lol
I got a call yesterday with a hospital stay survey person - told me I should call the Patient Relations person, and they called me back this morning. I told them about the two Awesome nurses I had (Michelle & Michael) and also about the paramedics who required me to walk to street level on the 45% angled sidewalk, as well as the fact that I didn't know about the Chaplain that was available to me 24/7 when I was in ICU. Patient Relations going to make notes on all three. I really think there should be some kind of notice for those in ICU to get spiritual comfort, on the walls or something. I had to wait until our minister came to visit me to let me know about chaplains in the hospital. Because I didn't admit myself (the hospital did), I didn't get to put my religious affiliation down and therefore didn't know any of this. I realize that they can't go and ask people as they may get insulted or upset, but there should be Something noted for those that DO want spiritual comfort or counselling.
Well you were so inactive for so long it's not a wonder they need more exercise.
Would imagine you have daily routine on your own at home.
Nurse was in, finally found a vein for home portal, hoping even though it's this late they will let me go tonight.
Sooo need a hot bath
Betty, I know your home .. and happy to be there, and, Missy is likely doing somersaults :-)
Watch that IV site .. hopefully it's taped well, the dang things tend to catch on things !
Take it slow and easy ..
Sat out at the fire a bit too long last night .. didn't do this monstrous cold any good :-(
Off to the neighbours BDay party a bit later .. then home to do more putzing in the yard .
Dianne, Karen and Sharon .. how are you all doing?
LK and Susan .. hope you have a pain free weekend.
YOOOO HOOOOO JUDY .. how's it shaping up gurl??
Off BBL
~M~
Morning "M", sure wish that cold would let you go. I'm feeling fine, decided i needed to make two more QOVs for reunion. Not strictly family guys( cousins SIL and another cousins Ex.) but they will be there and are vets. I'm putting the last two blocks together and then sew together into top and off to long armer.
Tomorrow is our volunteer fire dept. annual pancake breakfast, we're all going and I always pay double. These guys have saved my bacon a few times. Never costs me a dime. what ever insurance doesn't pay they write off.
Supposed to be nice and mild this week-end. Hubby is building play structure for Amelia, she's uber excited about it.
Karen, what a lucky young lady Amelia is, to have papa build her a play unit. Lordy hate to think how much you would get done if you were 100% well..they will be so excited to get them.
"m" seems impossible to get rid of a cold at this time of year
Would love to set a fire tonight, might for 1/2 hr or so
Missy has been laying by my side all afternoon, much I'm sure like your furries when they know you aren't up to par
Got everything I wanted to do done this a.m., thankfully nurse did antibiotic IV drip at 7:30 so plenty of time to get back after shopping and just rest
Nice out there but wind is cold, should really at least have picked a few branches..not sure what they are calling for tomorrow
Tomorrow is another day right?
A day to rest Betty. Do you have a sleeve cover over your port? Norm had one for when he got chemo. Helps with not banging it.
Busy day today. We got out shopping and that was fun. Got the bathroom curtain up and made valances for the kitchen. Washed some windows and then started daydreaming about fabrics for the living room and my sewing room. Just can't seem to decide what I want.
Bet it will be a dollhouse Barb, exciting for you..do you have a nice backyard you will be able to enjoy?
Yes, wrapped up, no chance of banging it.
In Jammie's but think I'm going to walk outside a bit, get some fresh air, might allow me to sleep tonight.
Betty - you're home? I thought you were still at the hospital
I'm grumpy - and jittery.
Got an email from our tenants.
it says:
"Hello Mrs.MacKenzie
RE : Termination of Periodic Tenancy, 1 months notice.
We are concluding this lease due to your non compliance with a Public Health Order currently in effect and this non compliance has rendered your old caravan not fit for habitation.
Carolyn Cardinal"
Sure, we want them out, but now tomorrow they have to pay rent for May, we haven't gotten Anything from Health & Safety about this supposedly "uninhabitable" home. The last thing was to put in a larger window, in February, which we did.
Tomorrow (because I can't go to church anyway, because I have pink eye Sticking tongue out and they don't want a contagious person there), I'll be on the phone setting up our utilities for June 1.
The tenants don't seem to realize that they have to wait 10 days for an accounting of the Damage Deposit (and what ever remains of it) and that Residential Tenancy doesn't mediate how much should be returned.
I'm just GRUMPY - haven't had much to eat today (too much running around), and these rotten tenants wait until the night before the first of the month to send us this this notice. They have to pay rent for May and cannot use the perceived Damage Deposit they expect as payment for rent.
I'm having something to eat, but it has to be healthy and light, because my knee Dr says I need to lose 50 to 100 lbs before he'll do surgery on my knees. If I lost 100 lbs, I'd be a stick........ did it when I got divorced (my choice to divorce, but I was still stressed and never ate), and I was too thin.
Barb, sounds as though your home will be lovely.
Betty .. slow and easy as 'they ' say .. just glad you're home.
Susan .. I can't keep up with the shams and scams these tenants of yours are getting away with .. pathetic, and they are raising a child in that type of toxic environment, teaching her bad tricks !
Had a wonderful time at the birthday party .. we had no idea it was being catered .. and, had ordered Chinese food for pick up following the event ..
Tonights supper = Chinese Food :-)
The woman we had bought our home from 29yrs ago was there .. just a terrific lady .. she wants to bring some relatives over who will be visiting from Quebec this summer and let them walk the property .. not a problem .. she and her hubby (deceased) planted all the huge evergreens and other bushes and trees.
He passed away suddenly leaving her with 2 young teens .. so, she had to sell the property and move to town ..
Looks to be a nice sunny day, again, but a bit on the cool side ..
Lorna is trying to psych up for going back to work tomorrow morning .. it'll be a toughie for a bit ..
BBL
~M~
Dianne .. how are the turkeys ?
Sending prayers for Lorna. Any word on when she may actually get the leg????
Morning all
light rain all night, you can just see everything turn green..will rain most of the day so good day to putter..am glad I went out last night and lit a fire in the pit last night.
Went downstairs and got the blankie I started a month ago 80% done, could finish it then have something to sit and sew with binding, not too strenuous.
Waiting for nurse to come do IV meds
Oops she is here
Be back in an hour
Susan, how do they come up with this stuff? "non compliance with a Public Health Order currently in effect" If they sent that info, they should have sent the paper showing what the problem is? Maybe you should call the city tomorrow and check on things? Are the terms of damage deposit and returns in a contract?
Glad to see you posting Barb, you will have your home settled and decorated in no time.
Betty, sounds like you are doing better?
Yes Lindakay, doing better, just worry another attack is loomin...nurse just left, doesn't take long
Susan, I'm with Lindakay, they must stay up all night thinking of things to make your life more difficult..100 lbs? That will take ions..I'm 125 and chart says I should be 108, NEVER want to be that weight.
Your day "M" sounds delightful, nothing like meeting up with old acquaintances..how's the cold today? Lorna will do her utmost tomorrow just as she always does, she will be one tired later tomorrow
Had plans to do a few things this a.m. Hmmm seems to have lost that urge to be busy..let's hope it comes back!
Good rainy morning everyone.
Since it is supposed to rain all day I plan to read and watch DVDs. I will vacuum as I can't go a day without doing it.
Got a couple of hours in outside yesterday before the black flies drove me in. They were swarming around the TH's head especially their eyes so decided enough.
Betty I am so glad you are home. There is no place better to heal expecially with the help of Missy.
Yesterday we were swamped with company all day.The TH loved all the attention. We don't see many people down here - the UPS driver, my cleaning lady and Steve my borrowed son. Warren and I always led a very solitary life - it was just something we preferred. I think we partied hard for a few years when we were much younger but has not been our scene for a long time. Give me a book and I am all set.
My diva TH did not want to walk far this morning. I think they are still tired out. Yesterday Duke had an encounter with 1 of the wild turkeys ...... I don't think he will try and chase 1 again.
No snapping turtles up yet but the mud and painted are coming in droves. The smaller turtles I don't mark their nests just the snappers. Chaos has never seen the turtles before so that should be fun.
Oh Chinese food sounds so good. The Mandarin has opened up in Ktown so maybe 1 day when I am in town I will stop by and get some to take home.
So what are you all up to this rainy dreary day ?
Dianne and her DH
We just got home from our Fire Dept. annual pancake breakfast. It's always good and fun to go but man O man it is busy. Our dept. is volunteer, that's why the fund raiser. My ambulance rides last year cost me nothing. They bill insurance and write off the rest. I always donate extra along with our breakfast costs. Laughed, many of them remembered me and asked how I was doing.
Thanks for the prayers Barb .. Lorna has what we are praying will be her FINAL apt on May 12 ,, DH and I 44th wedding anniv .. maybe it'll bring her luck ..
This has taken SOooooooooooooo long this time, but, everyone wants a GOOD fit, as well as a COMFORTABLE one .. getting the 2 to jive is not easy ..
Lorna won't give up ..
Hope the infusion went well Betty .. Lorna's folks say they have rain as well ..
I think we NEED some .. it has been awhile, and, it's forest fire season.
Making egg salad forsammies, should start chopping celery and gr onion
TOODLES
~M~
Sounds like those black flies are nasty little buggers. We don't have them here, just a bunch of hungry skeeters. Now they are telling us to be careful with that zika virus.
Black flies are nasty buggers. Not as bad here but up north more are awful. They take a chunk right out of you.
wow Betty - you're skinny! I'll never see 125lbs again lol
I've forwarded the tenants email to the Health & Safety guy that's been to the home many times. Last time was in Jan, to get us to put in the new window - that was the LAST thing they required of us. This "new" thing is garbage.
I'm going to ask the H&S guy if he'll do a walkthrough with us, to determine what's different. We haven't been in the home since Oct, and H&S has been there in Jan. He'll know if there's anything that is different, and can back us up.
I hope he will - he should be non-partisan.
Black flies are everywhere here too. I hate them as they really poison me and the itch is enough to drive me crazy. Only thing I have found that they don't like is Deep Woods OFF ..It works for me.....
I swear .. sometimes I write a post after having read the posts above, come back (like now), and, there are posts that must have been written at the same time I was doing mine .. .. we are trying to squish out every minute in the sun WITHOUT those nasty black flies !
Glad the breakfast was a success Karen .. they usually are .. I volunteered for our local crew for 2 years .. then my hip got in the way ! No more jumping in and out of an ambulance for me ..
How's the play house coming? Lucky Amelia:-)
Dianne, great to hear from you ..guess what? I am RE reading the book on 9/11 and Gander .. I read it willy nilly while in Toronto in January .. I felt I should do it again .. absolutely L O V E this book !! I may move to Newfoundland (said quickly) LoL
Black flies and doggies .. EWEWEWEeeeeeeeeewwwww ..
How's your back ?
Susan .. I totally think those imbeciles , even though they are NOT stupid, are going to press every button imaginable to make your lives miserable .. you may just have to concede .. they are obviously professional squatters ..
Busy day, glad to be hitting the bed soon .. DH called and all went well in Winnipeg .. doubtless he'll be bringing some treasures (NOT) home ...
Sweet dreams
~M~
Rainy day today so playset is on hold.
We traveled all the way around lake Superior on year for vacation. As we crossed at the Soo and headed west, I got sick and ran a pretty good fever. I was the only one the black flies didn't bite so guess they didn't like my heat. I literally spent the trip wrapped up in a sleeping bag during the day and crawling into our camper at night. I was so sure it would get better any time so I made hubby keep going. About Thunder bay hubby was going to find a hospital when my fever broke. I felt much better after that. shortly after we got home the skin on my hands and feet peeled severely. Both my girls had had strep before the trip. figured mine was scarlet fever. I survived and it did save me from black flies.
Yeah Marilynne - they're very good at what they're doing....... and not stupid, although you should have seen Marcel's face in December, when the Hearing Officer was saying they could stay. He was obviously prepared to hear her say they had to go. RTDRS is on the side of the tenant here. Garbage, I know, but it's made this potentially happy landlord into someone who will Never rent to anyone ever again..................
Lessons learned Susan, but, a very bitter pill to have to swallow ..
Karen, we have every gizmo and bug proofing recipe in the book for black flies .. I always think they take it back to their ?wherever? and figure out how to work around it ! They certainly make working in the garden a horrific experience !
Lorna is 'loaded for bear' LoL .. her truck (her office) for the next 6 months has everything she needs .. EXCEPT .. we can't find the belt that keeps her leg in place when she's cutting the grass on the machine :-(
She hasn't had to wear the belt, except for that, for about 2 years as the prosthetist is using a special suction dealy do in her socket .. great for when she is upright, but, sitting on a bumpy lawn mower, well, the belt is simply insurance ..
We'll keep looking .. St Anthony too ..
BBL
~M~
Saying a prayer that the belt is found....
Was a very busy day here yesterday. Norm and I attempted to put up the folding door going into the laundry and totally messed it up. But blessed SIL and DD stopped by just in time. Our SIL is named McGiver for a reason. He knows so much and between the he and Norm they got the door up. Then he tackled the mounting of the TV on the wall and then put up a shelf below it for the cable box and Blue-Ray. Then before they left, he helped put the furniture in place! I really need to do something special just for him!!! I'm thinking a big pot of something delicious!!!! So my work is cut out for me today. To put things away now that all is in place and hopefully not want to change anything.. LOL
I'm not so good at arranging furniture. One move we made my cousin's hubby asked where I wanted furniture, I just said where ever you think. He decided it all and I never changed a thing all the time we lived there. I almost never move stuff once it's in a place.
Glad you are settling in Barb. Sounds like you are in a happy place. I laughed the first time I visited my aunt after her move. She had a pretty wall hanging and I commented on it. She said lift it up and there underneath was an electrical panel. Great minds think alike.
Morning, well almost afternoon...
Karen, I'm the same, I buy something, find a home for it and likely it never gets moved.
Barb, got to love having a Mcguiver, Greg is mine. Lol
Now that the bulk of the move is done you can concentrate on your sewing area.
"m" did St.Anthony help with finding the belt?
Did my first IV of antibiotics..followed written instructions that were clearly written, nurse watched and said I did well. Tomorrow the nurse will put a new pick in then only come back in four days unless I have problems doing it.
Dianne dropped in today with flowers and had a wall hanging she just finished to show me...lovely..must get the pattern from her.
Morning everyone, back home from therapy. Doing better with each and every day! I can finally do straight leg raises! Only about 6 inches off the mat, but a lot better than before.
Betty, that goose panel is beautiful!
Baby steps LK - and one at a time!!! I think it is amazing how far you have come.
That goose really is beautiful. Was it a panel or is it all pieced? Gorgeous in any case.
My blood pressure is UP
Saw a trailer bring in two more loads of junk, called he township by-law enforcement officer, maor Scott Wornoff etc etc
Mayor Warnoff came, saw the mess, went back to township, spoke with enforcement officer, he told her he would. Found out he rents so enforcement officer contacting owners saying 30 days or they will clean and send owner the bill..we will see how far that gets
