Happy Mother's Day to all. Mine was wonderful though hardly Enews worthy. I enjoyed working in the yard and greenhouse. SO grilled burgers and brats. I made pasta salad and slaw. We had melons and berry sauce My kids are out of town but left secreted gifts around the house. A motherless friend of DD, who has weathered storms here before, showed up unexpectedly to share dinner. He and his boxer are spending the night.
I've been working alot and volunteered to step in for someone today but fortunately someone else beat me to it. Really cherish the time and energy to get things done here. Too often my free time floats off.
Betty...get well wishes coming your way once again. I could offer up loads of professional advice but know you are making best choices for you. Either diverticulosis/isis or gall bladder, you will have to adhere to a strict dietary regimen for possible relief. The pain and stress must be terrible.

Best/Worse/what did I learn today? Chat with friends old/new
So, Betty - She's angry cuz he doesn't call days other than Mother's Day? No, I don't blame you at all.
Has your neighbour cleaned out his yard? Please get lots of rest.
Thunder - Thank you for those sweet pictures - the family looks SO happy to be reunited :-) Your soldier boy is so handsome, and girls are pretty (what we can see of Ryleigh lol). Nova's adorable!!
Bob's fine with the food he's fed. It's healthy, and made by me lol
Marilynne - I haven't heard from my son either - Guess he either got shook up my my possibility of dying in March, or he got tired of the drama re: tenants. Guess I wasn't asking enough about what was going on in his life. Who knows. My daughter is "there" for me and I guess that's enough for me. Although it does hurt.
Awwww "T" what a great Mother's day for you. I can remember when Malena was as wee as Nova.
Betty these 10 QOVs I made will all go to family members at our reunion on July 3rd.
Gorgeous pics Thunder ..that little Nova looks like a content baby.
Judy, sorry to hear about your BinL ..and, I hope the week doesn't fly by too fast.
Up early as DH has an eye apt ..bright n early ..
Did a lot of yard work yesterday .. DH is just not himself, the PMR still grabs him and makes him feel weak.
Lorna and I planted at my parents grave site yesterday .. pansies ..
Never did hear from my son ... I'm done, my heart can't break any deeper .. life will carry on without them .. doubtless he will see the error of his ways ..
Best get busy, dogs to get out and feed and Lorna's lunch to put together ..
Hope you slept Betty ..

Wishing everyone a belated Happy Mother's Day. My day was non-stop from beginning to end. First with visit from my brother and SIL and they stayed for over two hours which is truly unexpected from them! Then off to my son's for lunch, then home again for our daughter and family to visit for dinner. It was a totally great day with calls from those not nearby.
So much is going now with all of you. I'll try to remember all I read.
First off, congratulations to you and your family Thunder. Beautiful family and beautiful photos.
And congratulations to Judy's daughter Julia. I'm sure all that you have done Judy will be so lovely and knowing that you worked so hard to make the day special will mean more and more to your daughter as time goes by. She will be one beautiful bride.
Glad to hear you are able to get through the nights a bit better Betty. And I know how hard it must be not to be moving and getting things done. But Greg is right about taking it easy until you find out what is causing all these problems. Whether it be diver---- or gallbladder. Find something to knit or embroider by hand. That should keep you out of mischief. Happy to hear Mom is being good to you.
Marilyn - I have one son who has forgotten I exist too. And it does hurt. But we live with hope.
Hoping this finds everyone waking up to a great day. Waving to all - Deb, Debbie, Susan, Dianne Karen, LK and please forgive me if I have left anyone out!!!
Marilynne, My heart aches for you, The day will come.
Had a very nice day yesterday. Didn't get to see a one of them but all called and some of the grands too. Back to finishing up those QOVs.
Morning all,
Happy camper to have made 4 nights without heading to emerge!
Judy, condolences, difficult to lose a loved one, emotions must be heater shelter with sadness then joy re wedding..deep breaths.
Barb, so pleased your day was nearly perfect, as for your son, he too will come to regret his not being part of your life.
Laurel, glad you got to spend time in the greenhouse and didn't have to go fill in..yep, those are two scenarios + a few others..am watching what I eat, not difficult as I can barely get food down, got a bowl of cereal out this morning, only got 1/2 eaten and tummy full, almost uncomfortable full.
Thunder, yet another gorgeous babe, omg those girls are growing in leaps and bounds.
"m" sorry to hear Gord is till not feeling well, know you worry so...any news on lorna's leg fitting?
Playing with boat tarps, sure wish Paul would keep a boat for more than a season..new boat, more work on tarps for me..have to replace screens, not as easy as one would think.
I called Andrew to fill in pond, hoping to get it done before weekend..he said he would come tonight after work and have a look to see what needs done..hurrah, one less thing to concern myself about
Enjoy your day everyone
Afternoon everyone. I have been into therapy and back home after doing a bit of shopping at walmart.
Glad to hear you are getting things done and organized at your new place Barb.
"M", so sorry to hear about your son not contacting you for Mothers day. Just believe in Karma, he will get his.
kittriana, sounds like you are busy too. Love te wildflowers. We don't get them over here like that in west Texas.
Betty, glad to hear you are still home. Must mean you are doing something right for your tummy issues.
Thunder what a precious baby Nova is! I know you are so proud of them all.
Good morning ..
Hoping everyone had a good night .. Betty ?
Linda, can't say enough about how important the post op therapy is .. makes the surgery worth it ..
As for my DS ,, I am honestly more ashamed of him than disappointed .. I know the estrangement is being fueled by his wife, and, short of lowering myself to her level .. which I won't do .. we will simply have to face the reality that our only child has decided we are disposable ..
With Gordon on kind of shaky ground health wise, that just does no feel good ..
Hope you all have a wonderful day ..
~M~
Morning all,
Lindakay, bet you are seeing great results re flecpxibility seeing as you've been religiously doing therapy, kudos to you..
"m" there are no words, it's something he will have to live with.,can understand your disappointment in Jim.
Sunshine day in my neighbourhood although it will be a cool one..maybe if we mix my weather with yours Lindakay we would get a happy medium.
Did a bit of pond demolishing yesterday, just a tad..not much more and she is ready to fill in..kind of sad but must downsize
Andrew was to come last night to see what is needed for him to do the landscaping/fill in pond project but must have worked later than he thought, half expect him to drop in before his day starts.
Girls called last night wanting to come over this morning, yep, think I'm up to it..they should be here by 9am
Garbage day so best I get garbage to the roadside
Enjoy your day
So glad you're feeling better, Betty. Just don't overdo and un-do all your progress. I'm sure the gals will understand if you just say ...Sorry I have to go rest.
Good morning!
I know they would understand Karen as they are such a wonderful group of friends. Your health is the most important thing right now Betty. It is good to know you are up and about a bit but please take it easy for a while.
Quiet night here. Been busy painting a sign board for the front of the house with only house numbers and arrows on it. Very easy. There are three apartments here in one building and only the front entrance on the street is visible from the street. So I am making a sign with the other numbers so UPS and Fedex etc can find us!!!!
And of course it is laid out on the cutting table so I am not sewing at the moment.
I'll finish that up today and hopefully finish my valances for the living room....
So sorry about your son "M" but know just how you feel. We have one like that too. He did post on Facebook so I guess I should be happy about that. It does hurt though when he can go to his sister's which is just up the road from us and not stop here. When he wants something, he will be around....
Waving hello to all and hoping Judy is not too stressed out. Julia will be a beautiful bride and the wedding will be incredible....
Marilynne - I understand how you feel. My son connected with me 1 1/2 years ago, and we've been chatting back & forth on FB (he's in BC and too far for us to visit).
When I went into the hospital and he heard about it, plus of course the whole thing with the tenants (!!!!!!!!!!!), he was ok with hearing about them, but when I told him how close it came to me to pass away (as it was drilled into me by Dr's ad nauseum), he slowed down and finally stopped. Last I heard from him was when I wished him Happy Birthday on Apr 23rd, then...... nothing. He's "liked" posts of mine on FB, but that's it - nothing more. He didn't wish me Happy Birthday when I was in the hospital, nor Mother's Day greetings, nor replying to my messages.
Yes, it hurts, especially when we had so recently re-connected after 16 years of nothing...... ah well.
I'm working on a Bohemian Rose sweater - fits very loosely, and presumably very easy lol yeah, if you can follow the drunken path of the instructions (row 1-10, such and such, row 11 to 15 repeat 1st 5 rows of 1-10, Row 16 to 20, knit, then repeat row 11 to 15 29 times and more convoluted directions than I can follow LOL)
I've finished the back, and now working on the right side. I should be finished it tomorrow sometime, then work on the left side.
I'm doing it in a varigated wool pattern called Campfire. Burgundy, black, tan, red, grey & white. When I laid out the back, I laughed - looks like Joseph's coat of many colours!! The staff at Michaels say they would love to see it when it's finished.
Susan, another son that needs a rude awakening...grrrr
Bethe shawl will be pretty, are you doing it in the colours posted..love the richness of it.
Ohh barb, I've not painted in so long, would love to paint a sign for you..Greg says paints and brushes while sitting on the couch would be ok. He is gone to take measurements of a shop for revamping in stainless still, Andrew just came and said that he will be here in the a.m. Ohh ohh yikes, need to finish taking the bricks out of the pond, HADPS TO BE DONE..been looking for a kid going by who might want to make $20 for 15 minutes of work..here is hoping OR you know who will do it.
I was thinking if I'm here Friday I just might go to Barrie to the wool shop and pick up wool for a sweater for Caleb, Norwegian..bought him one at Christmas but it's just a homemade by grandma sweater. Lol
Almost done the boat tarps, few glitches ..will be glad to see them behind me..looked on Craigslist and kijiji re commercial sewing machine, few out there, sent emails so we will see if I get responses..these tarp repairs are hard on the machines.
Just came back from foodland, bought corn, steak and salad,p for supper vs calling the restaurant next door for fast food 😝. Lordy forgot to say that the variety sspstore next door is being revamped into a bakery and home cooked meals in freezer, ther goes the 40 lbs I lost..won't be ready though until July..can smell bread coming out of the oven already
The girls did come..imagine that, not one brought a project, just came to chat
The girls were certainly thinking of you Betty. Chatting doesn't make you move around or exert yourself when you should be resting.
The sign I'm painting is nothing more than numbers and arrows!!! Then UPS and Fedex will be able to find us. My meds come by mail and I don't want any reason not to get them... One side is done - just need to finish up the other and get it sprayed. What is the best to use on it since it will be outside? Any suggestions....
I like foe to diamond finish for outdoors...think Home Depot even maybe walmart might carry it..comes as like other finishes. Satin/semi gloss and gloss..I never use gloss as to me it makes the piece look like plastic..I use satin
Yes, those gals are special..Rita just left, nice visit
Always someone checking up on me..wonder if they have a visit Betty roster. Lol
Varethane coating is best for your sign, for weatherproofing it, Barb
Betty - the sweater is variegated - Burgundy, red, white, tan, black & grey. The strips are pretty much like that - stripes. Each colour is very long before it switches to another colour, and they go from top to bottom.
I've finished the back, and now the right side. I'll do the left side, then the collar (2 pieces) and the sleeve cuffs. Should be finished in a few days.
I'll post a picture when I'm done.
Morning,
Ready to start my day..have to get the pond area ready, more move a few shrubs
Will take my time, promise..
I've tried varna thane and have done zillions of outdoor signs as you know Barb, still opts for fled to diamond finish which has urethane it it, guarantees no yellowing and diamond hard finish..
Been to town and back .. my Hospice client is totally at the end of her journey .. gave her hubby a 2 hour break for a nap .. her sister came over at 6am .. and I am home ..
Betty, take it easy out there .. won't Andrew move the bricks?
Good luck with the spray sealer Barb .. DH uses varethane .. but it's painted on .. I think a spray is easier .. just sorta 'fumy' ..
Waving to Dianne, Karen, Susan, Judy, Laurel .. Deb n Debbie .. everyone :-)
TTFN
~M~
Waving back, 6 of the QOVs totally done. Busy beaver here, take care all.
Bless you "M" , Hospice is awesome.
Betty take it easy on you.
No yellowing and diamond hard finish is gooooood!
I agree - Bless you, Marilynne - doing hospice is a tough but very rewarding work. I know I couldn't do it.
I can't say enough good things about Hospice workers. Each and every one is a saint in my eyes. Between my Mom (nearly 30 years ago) and Norm's Mom (just over 20 years ago) they made life so much easier for both. We kept both at home per their wishes and hospice was invaluable for both of them and for all of the rest of us. Bless you Marilyn.....
Good morning everyone.
Amanda has opened the show us your ugly mug swap. Come and check it out.

Lord amighty can I get myself in a fix LoL
Stripped the beds and put the sheets on the line .. crisp east wind off the lake ..
Then I decided to make dog cookies .. I always forget that that is a TASK .. takes about 90 minutes, lots of standing .. but, 8 dozen biscuits later .. done ..
in the middle of all this , DH said he was going to town.
Came back with wine and a bouquet of flowers .. it's our 44th wedding anniv tomorrow ..
In between all that I got the call I knew I would .. Sheila has passed away .. I might pop over tomorrow .. she opted for immediate cremation and no service ..
Thank you for your kind words re Hospice .. something I love doing ..
Envy all of you your projects .. I am sewing and knitting 'duh' LoL
Enjoy your day ..
~M~
how sweet of him to get the win & flowers for your anniversary! Happy 44th Anniversary (a day early, but will hope to remember again tomorrow - crs doesn't run in my family - it goes by leaps and bounds LOL)
I'm doing both - knitting and sewing. Just gone a center for my Round Robin quilt group - hooray! Need to get it done and sent on to the next person before I move in 3 weeks!!
Also getting the bohemian rose sweater done. On the 2nd front side. got the back and one side done. Then it will be collar & cuffs.....
