Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

"m" how did Lorna make out her first week?
Lindakay, do you have the family coming for Mother's Day?

Karen sure gives you an emotional boost when grandkids do so well.

Got home at 7pm last night, made it through the night..was wrestless, think likely because I was worried if have an attack and end up back at the hospital,,,did a lot of please Lord let these attacks stop as quickly as they started.

Beautiful day here, likely mid 60's, calling for rain tomorrow.

You are right Susan, mice moms a hug, they aren't around forever..if I'm ok I will take mom out for supper tonight as she is going home in the morning..then maybe go shopping for a top for her...I could use new bra's, none I have fit...sigh

Jeff is home today, has the flu, worked all week as he had rants to get out but taking today..I've got my Mother's Day list ready but doesn't matter if they get it done..this past month they've taken so much time to be with me that it hardly seems fair seeing I didn't get the pond emptied and soil filled..we will see, few other easy things on the agenda!

Brianna, Kylie's girlfriend is using the kitchen today,Moshe is making a floral arrangement out of fruit, wants to surprise Melanie so I offered her my kitchen..she sure is a keeper

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Good morning everyone. Well it's morning here. Rain woke me up nice steady rain. Doesn't seem like a Las Vegas with all this rain we're having but the trees and the Soil sucking it up everything has a big smile on its face.

Eddie I'm so glad you made it to the night without attack. I also made it to the night with very little leg pain. Weird that you break your back and all your pain is in the back of your legs.

My daughter and I are going to Trader Joe's and Costco today because we are out of vegetables for the dogs and out of treats for Vern.

Barb so glad you got to wonder out in stroll through the fabric store. That would be like me going out to a nursery for plants. Costco is bad enough. I actually tell myself no no no many times in Costco.

Maryland a day by yourself. Sometimes it is good and sometimes it is bad. I'm by myself the majority of the time because Vern as his TV ears on and can't hear anything but the TV. But that is good because I have it on mute so I don't have to listen to it and he can hear.

Dogs are getting groomed today, Granddaughter who's been helping us is flying back to Portland Oregon today, and the housekeeper was here in house is clean so all is good.

Karen Beautiful grandson so much to be proud of. It's a tough world until many don't make it it's just so glad to see someone that does. Giving my best wishes.

Betty you are right about Kylie's girlfriend, she is a keeper. I saw that chocolate in the pan probably still warm and thought, yummmm....

I haven't seen the report on the fire in Canada yet today but I hope it's more contained what a sad fire did you get so many structures. Maryilyn do they know how to started?

Linda how is everything in Texas. I am trying to find Vern a place for seniors which you are not, to exercise. There's a veteran center right up the road and they probably have something. He wants a stationary bike and it will just sit here and gather dust and I am not doing that. Been there done that before with many exercise equipment for him.

I will check in later to see how Betty's feeling and how Marilyn is enjoying her day by yourself. Everyone have a great Friday. Hugs Sharon

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It will be a quiet weekend here. Andy's wife Heather is in Florida with her Mom. Her grandmother is 92 and in the hospital. She had a massive stroke and has congestive heart failure. Not expected to make it much longer.
"M", I lost my Mom 10 years ago, day after Mother's Day. She had a brain aneurysm and was gone 10 hours after they got her to the hospital. I miss her so much.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Oh my goodness LK .. so sorry for not only you but Heather and her Mom .. I do so hope her Gramma passes peacefully .. death is awful at ANY time, but, at Mothers Day, or, Fathers Day .. well .. extra specially emotional ..

This has been a day of dithering .. I accomplish a few things, not the least of which was moving the big snow blower from the patio to 'out back' .. got the solar bird bath cleaned and filled with water .. it's a bright sunshiny day here, so, I think when I look out tonight I will see it shining ..
The Blue Jays are VERY happy with its return ..
CLeaned up some stuff in the house .. made the dogs go beserk when I pulled out the BIG vacuum instead of using the smaller one .. Lilly just HATES it ..

Betty .. how are you ?

Sharon .. that leg pain phenomenon from the back is just one the little weird idiosyncrasies of the body ,, the nerves run down the spine, when you had surgery they bothered the nerves, and, the pain goes down ..BUT .. it will go away ..

Off o shower ..

May BBL

Got home from work and noticed that the bird nest in the Clematis right outside my door has 4 eggs in it! It's only about 3ft from the door, and nestled in the clematis at the top of a 4ft fence. Perfect height for me to peek at them, but I'm worried about scaring the mother robin away. She flies off when I go in and out, but seems to return fairly quickly, so maybe it will be OK.

Thumbnail by momcat
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Should be OK if you maybe only peek every other day or so.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Unfortunately I have to walk past it no matter which door I go out. The side garage door is right there on one side of the sidewalk the nest is on the other side of the walk, and the gate to the front door is right there, too. She must have worked on that nest for a while, so hopefully she realized that there is a person around regularly. Does anyone know how long it takes for eggs to hatch?

Hope this helps Deb .. beautiful nest :-)

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks, M! That's interesting.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Momcat? Speak in light tiny words as you come and go, do not look the bird in the eyes and you will cause her less fear, dont wave your arms as a bird thinks they are damaging branches. Pretend she isnt there, and she will pretend she isn't there too.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the advise Kittriana. I've been trying to not even look toward the nest as I come and go. Just take quick glances, so far she has been flying off when I even pull the car in the driveway, which is next to the fence, too. I've started parking the car at the far side of the drive. I hope that will help keep her calm.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

There is a bird builds her nest every year on a shelf of our pontoon boat. She adjusts to our coming and going. When we take the boat out, she just waits in a nearby tree for us to come back. Her nest is started again this year.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

My mom lives too far for me to see her - a day's drive, and too expensive to fly at the moment (damn tenants - would be able to afford to, if they hadn't stripped us of any funds - still haven't paid May rent).

I wish I could hug her - very gently. At 97 she's extremely frail, and as my sister & daughter say "fading fast".

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hey
Just posted a hefty post .. off it went .. but, not here ..

Have a great day all

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Everyone must be gardening :-)
We have W I N D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blew one of the big Poplar over, narrowly missed one of the sheds ..

Went to the Greenhouse Lorna deals with for the cemetery, nice to spend someone else's $$
Everything looks so healthy and beautiful .. and the young woman ( 45ish) is a wonderful lady with a huge amount of knowledge and love for plants ..

Threatening skies here ..

Hope everyone is well .. Betty ???

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bet you enjoyed shopping for plants. I wish we had a greenhouse here. If you want plants, you have to buy them from Walmart or home depot. Or drive 3 hours to San Antonio.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I have two of the QOVs totally finished. Just have to finish sew the binding on the rest. By Jove it looks like I have time to spare.

All you Mamas have a great day tomorrow.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening,

Sitting quietly, lots of company today..Lordy family I haven't seen in forever..quick thought came to me, hope they aren't visiting in case I expire😜

Been feeling a tad off, hoping it's what I ate and not my issue..past month I've had attacks 1/-2 nights after my release, this is night 3, a tad nervous.

Waving to all
Happy Mother's Day to you all,me now I've read and want to respond but not up to it right now..hoping I will be chatty tomorrow!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

*Gentle Hugs* Betty - Glad to hear that you had lots of family visit. Good Grief, at your age you're Far too young to be having the hospital consider a "home" for you. You're very young yet, and throwing up is no reason to take you from your own home LOL So silly of the hospital.
Are you at home, or the hospital? I can't keep up lol..........

Karen - busy little bee you are! Good for you, for catching up on all your sewing :-)

Marilynne - that's a LOT of wind! Nice to be able to shop on "someone else's dime" lol I'd enjoy it too!

LK - do you ever order plants or seeds from a site? I never have - never sure what I'd get. I guess I'd like to see before I buy.......
Our church has a Plant Fundraiser (very successful I hear, from previous years), and I used to organize one at our previous church. It was never successful. The seniors didn't know what they would get, even though *I* was the one buying it for them.

I got a recipe book in the mail from my daughter, for Mother's Day - called "Oh She Glows" - a vegan recipe book. Going to make Walnut Lentil loaf for dinner (lentils are a replacement protein for meat). Sounds good, with applesauce topping.
I'm thrilled to have gotten this recipe book. I'm a recipe book hound LOL
My daughter is so concerned about my health after my scare in March.
btw - I've lost 14 lbs! Surgeon had said I need to lose 50 to 100 lbs LOL no way I should need to lose 100 lbs, as per my Dr. By Sept when I next see my surgeon, I should have lost 42 lbs if I continue. That should be sufficient to have surgery (plus have my embolisms 6 months in the past).
Hoping for Oct.
Now, just waiting for the Walkthrough, and our move at the end of THIS month!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Happy Mother's Day to all you gorgeous mothers!!!!!!! (and that means ALL of you mothers - lovely inside and out) :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't buy plants or seeds online, other than a few angel trumpets from ebay, that never made it. I am like you, I like to see what I am getting.

Betty, glad to hear you had lots of visitors, but I know all that company makes you tired. Get some rest, and I pray you are feeling better soon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY everyone
Hugs to those who are thinking of their mom who are now with the Lord or can't be with their mom's
May this be a sunshine day??

Lindakay, yes I hear a lot of women order online, maybe that is a possibility..guess in the heat of the day there are only certain plants you can out in your gardens..your rises do so well.

Bought 6 shrubs yesterday, marrying to replace those lost last year and this year...I imagine another 20 ought to do it..

Susan, you are doing good with your weight loss, no doubt you will be ready for a fall operation.

Karen, bet you've had a sigh of relief, those Qov's seem to go together quite rapidly, how big are you doing them?

Sharon, bet you are enjoying all the nice weathers and will get to sit in paradise today

Deb, how are the birdies doing?

Dianne, how are you doing, bet the cottages are starting to arrive, there going some tranquility..lol. Always loved how the bay came to life in May.

Made it through 3 sleeps, now to break the record for 4
Not sure what is on the agenda, Jeff's been ill all week so likely won't hear till later this morning if he is coming or not..Greg I'm sure will drop in..my to do list will or will not get done today, not important if it doesn't..learning these are little things in the big scheme of things.

Will be on the cool side today but a sunshine day so that is a plus

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms of both the 2 legged and 4 legged winged and scaled varieties of creatures :-)
HEAVY frost, as usual, here this morning .. but, Karen from the greenhouse assures me the pansies will do fine on my parents grave site .. just have to water them in well, will go and plant them later this morning.

Doubt Murray will even call, but, that's life, and I plan to get on with mine .. it hurts, but, I can't get stuck in the muck of it ..

Noticing lots of trailer traffic picking up .. folks are headed to all the various lakes .. our big MAY 2 4 weekend will see a day off on May 23 .. actually called Victoria Day (for Queen Victoria) .. that is usually the heralding of SUMMER in these parts.
I do believe there are 3 Provinces who don't celebrate it ... all eastern ones .. no idea why not, but, I am sure it has to do with something that'll give me a headache LoL

Fort Mac fire just continues to cause destruction and devastation .. gave a donation yesterday ..

OK ... best I boodle, the Blue Jays have spotted me and they want PEANUTS !!!!

TOODLES

~M~

Celebrating Piper's BDay today .. you should see the cake .. will post a pic later .. these flowers (last years) are for all of you :-)

Happy mothers day to all of you!

Betty, glad to see you posting that your on the mend. Praying you go on to day 4 and lots more.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending love and warm Happy Mother's Day wishes to all of you. Been busy here with some curtains and fiddling with placements of stuff!!! LOL You know what that is like - put it here and move it there!!!!
Karen you are truly amazing in how quickly you are able to put these quilts together. I am envious of your energy!!! They will be treasured I'm sure.
Off to the breathing machine so hope you all have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Barb

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Happy Mother's Day to all my dear friends. I hope you all are well. I wish I could have all mine around me but it's not to be, They will all call.

Betty I think the QOV's are about 72 x 77. Not bed size but a good snuggle in the recliner size.

Barb, at times I feel this was a crazy idea but now that I'm almost done, I'm happy I took it on. They can all be packed away now until July 3rd.

Just small projects from here on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You make me want to get energetic Karen..

Weather liars, sun was out, now raining, maybe it will pass me by..
Greg has been here three times, once to check up on me, another to bring flowers, Jeff called while he was here, poor dear, coughing like crazy, sick sick so they decided they would do my Mother's Day 'to do list' next weekend, will pick the sunshine day. So out I went as the sun came out for a bit, decided to work the garden in the front under my bedroom window, four years I've put cedars,4 years they've died, was doing good until Greg came back to do a few things as rain stopped..drats, got caught and got marched inside and sat on the couch..told me is was better to have dead trees in the gardens then finf me dead in the gardens.

Big sigh, maid he, Kyle and Mel would be dropping in every few hours and I'd best no be outside...😪

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Happy Mother's Day to each and all! Home to Texas so wildflowers til I get to the house. (PS- the eastern provinces still try to pretend they are in and of France in some things, chuckl)
These from south of Ft Worth and Dallas.
Cedars require alkaline soil or they die- such as the whiterock and limestone caprock in Texas DFW area, sorry...

Lindakay,, sorry family couldn't be with you...how is DIL's mother?

Barb, how did your spots go re breathing? I asked before, not sure you answered...do you have a back yard?

Karen, do you already have names for the QOV recipients?

In bed, seems all I've done is resttoday, not sleepy, just relaxing.

Ohh got uppity with my mom this afternoon, you won't blame me, just wanted to set things straight with her..she said my brother mike called but she didn't answer..I asked why, well if he can't make calls when it's not Mother's Day then to heck with him. Grrrrr

This after she has been so good to me

Didn't tell you she gave me another ring and their value sheets, yikes, 3rd ring..their value $5,500. She said I might as well enjoy wearing them..Sharon will get 2 rings about same value.,nice they won't get list in the shuffle.

Eyes are heavy, just did prayers, asked what?? Yep, to make it through the night without mishap
