Sorry to hear about her Dad. I will keep him in our prayers.
Best/Worse/what did I learn today? Chat with friends old/new
You know M I agree with you about the cap. You worked hard and you deserved that black band on your cap as recognition of that work. Warren found it very difficult to know who was a nurse and who wasn't. He said everyone looked like they were in their PJs. He would ask someone for help and they would say 'I can't do that I am not a nurse". While he much preferred the pastel colours he just wished there was something that made the RNs stand out.
Need to go into the village to get some Rxs then will do some more outside. Rx store doesn't open until 10. Its hours are 10 - 3 on Saturdays. for a couple of years it wasn't even open on weekends
So sorry to hear about Lorna's dad. As my sweet dad would say when he went in for what he called a tuneup "I am in the best place for me right now"
Betty how are you feeling this morning ?
Have fun with the grands LK. I am surprised you are able to drive a distance so soon after your surgery. That is wonderful!!
Barb are you all moved in, boxes unpacked? Do you have a small storage area where you can keep some things?
Need to get outside and put some air in my 2 back tires. Darn aluminum rims!! We have a small compressor that I can use - it is just a pain.
Enjoy your day ladies.
Dianne and her TH
I was in training for 4 years, so, yep, that black band was worth lots :-)
Our union, ONA, provided us with 'buttons' we could wear .. white backfround with the black RN insignia, still have mine .. then, of course came all the security signage , a real PITA when you bent forward, I usually threw mine so it hung down my back ..
Lorna's Dad feels he'll go home, TOMORROW (not) .. poor guy is just not a fan of incarceration LoL ...
LK .. hope ya put a pillow down on the car seat, but, perhaps you'll be fine ..
Betty, how be thee ??
Best get ready to go to the dump .. yippe kai aye ...
Hope your tires inflated D
~M~
Driving the 3 hours was not too bad. I stopped about half way for a potty break. That helped a bit.
Sorry to hear Lorna's dad's in the hospital, but it's the best place for him.
Prayers being said for all the family.
I'll bet Lorna's happy to be returning to work with her beautiful plants that she loves (hooray for gardening!)
Betty , Dianne - how are you both? Hope you're better, and can keep food down.
I am here and all i well. We had quite the wind storm last night. My clean landscape is now disturbed with leaves everywhere. Sure wish I could sweep up the courtyard but NOT....
I am watching Tornado Road on th weather channel. I am getting nervous just watching it. Four different teams in four different area. Third episode I have watched and I am convinced all of these people are crazy and I am so thankful I do not live in that area. My granddaughter Hannah moved to Kansas City in December with her new husband. He is going to med school there. She says the weather is weird but the food is out of this world. It is good she is a thin person.
I went to the pain specialist on Wednesday to get a less powerful pain medicine. He told me that was an unusual request. Individuals usually want stronger. I described my pain and he examined me and told me the majority of my pain it all nerves reconnecting. Then he gave me 30 more days of the stronger medicine and then another prescription for nerve pain.
If you want to feel good about yourself and your heath, just go into a pain specialist office. Oh my, surrounded by people in so much pain. And they have to go in every 30 to 60 days to get their prescriptions refilled.
Marilyn, please let Lorna know my angels are heading to her father for his healing.
Hospitals are very frightening. The first hospital I was at I was in the section for senior patients with back injuries and such. So I laid there for three days and listened. Probably the only patient that knew where they were and with it. Oh my God, a scary nightmare. I have hearing like a bat. Things I heard was outrageous. I moved to another hospital after 3 days. Again, that was a nightmare. I guess you do not change hospitals but no one told my daughter that.
Betty, I have lost about 15 pounds but it took close to a month and over 7 days of not eating. Pain was so bad and pain medicine was worse. Quick weight loss is not a gift. Something is wrong and you and your doctors will determine what. No one knows your body better than you.
Marilyn, our temp, even with the wind, is in the high 70s. That is really hard on the landscape. Our spring is gone and your has not arrived yet.
Last thought. When I was in the hospital I could not tell who was who also. I was told they all wear different colors. But forgot who went with what color. I also told them I wanted a pink gown and they said that could not be done because pink were for crazy patients.
Diane, I hope you had a safe trip and you are feeling better. Hugs to you all. Sharon
Evening all
Just got on hospital Internet, haven't missed it just been to I'll.
Went in Thursday, kept me overnight, back at 3
Everyone was so amazing, even brought in a specialist this a.m.
Outcome is that they feel it's my kidneys, I will be here until Tuesday, if infection is not cleared they will send me home and have nurses come to change I.v.' Monday they will do some testing on kidney and bladder..
So here I lay, t.v. On, phone, Internet and meals brought in..can it get any better than this. Lol. Dianne my new in house doctor is called Dr.Mott, she barely looks old enough to be out of high school.
Sorry to hear about Ernie, hard to lose a DG friend.
"m" TOO BAD Lorna's dad doesn't take longer in the hospital, get him stronger..Lorna must be beside herself.
Night night
Good Sunday morning everyone ..
LK .. enjoy your babysitting, glad to hear you made it ok ..
Sharon .. hopefully the nerve pain meds will help your pain .. Lorna has taken about all of them .. just off Lyrica and going back to Gabapentin .. was actually TOLD by the pain specialist that medical marijuana would help, and, he would prescribe it, but, even though our government has legalized it, it is NOT COVERED by insurance and it is very expensive ..
Chuckling re your hearing .. when I worked midnight shift, my staff called me 'the Fox' .. like you, I have acute hearing, and, sometimes it just is not a blessing !!!
our temps are on the cool side, mid 50s, but, the major part of the snow is gone :-)
Betty ... hate to say it's good to hear your in the hosp, but, it's where you need to be right now ..
I do so hope and pray 'they' find out what's up .. kidneys are multi faceted organs ..
Lorna's Dad is grousing, I think I've said it before, he is realizing just how much his wife does for him at home ..Lorna's Mom visits from 11 til 2 and then goes home as driving is not a piece of cake, busy area of the world down that way .. lots of traffic ..
He just thought he'd go into the hospital, grab some O2 and be on his way .. NOT ..
Testing and med adjustment will start in earnest tomorrow.
Furnace is on .. best make myself a coffee .. just me and the dogs up at the moment, and, the Blue Jays are squawking for their peanuts ..
Take good care
BBL
~M~
Thanks for checking in and letting us know how you are doing. Sending prayers the Dr.s find out what the problem is soon.
Betty I hope they can get to the bottom of this for you. Listen to the nurses and docs and not with half an ear.
Guess I did too much yesterday. My back went into a complete spasm yesterday when I was working outside. I had to come in and lie down. Usually I find the floor the best spot for me. Only managed about an hour outside total before the black flies and my back drove me in..
Sharon you are doing amazing. I bet you are just itching to get back to normal.
My rhubarb got a touch of frost last night. It is so hardy I am not concerned. Actually 1 of the plants I moved here from Pickering. I originally planted it 1974.
Hope things are going well for you LK. Do your grandbabies mind you? My nephews certainly have my mom and dad the run around.
Shower time I can stand myself.
BBL
Dianne and the TH
ooooooooooooh Dianne - "normal"...... now THERE's a relative word LOL What's normal for any of us?
Betty - you're getting waited on, hand & foot - Hooray! Take advantage of it while you can, you deserve it! I'm glad to hear you're getting the care you need. Kidneys, eh? I'd give you one of mine - they've been checked out well, and it IS Organ donation month (April), but I'm sure you'd get one closer, if you needed it (which you don't, cuz you're going to get healthy Really Quickly, right?)
Sharon & Dianne - please take care - no over-doing, and get the rest you need. No back spasms, either, Dianne!! I has Spoken!!!
Sorry to hear about your back Dianne. Take it easy.
The kids are awesome. They know when GrandnesS something, she means it. I don't let them get away with things.
Good morning ...
Dianne, how's the back?
Betty, bet you'll have a busy day today ..
DH has an eye docs apt at 8am, so, up n at'em

Morning all,
Just finished breakfast, can't eat much at a time so kept yogurt and juice for mid morning treat..waiting for more testing this a.m. Blood pressure is very low, what is with that, normally high? Susan, thanks for offer but sure I'll not need a kidney..if tests show good results this a.m. Likely I can go home until another attack while seeing a specialist.
Dianne, hope you are able to move around without pain today. Rhubarb will still be ok will it not even though touched by frost.
Lindakay, think we are cut from same cloth, boys all minded me as they knew I'd follow through. Will you be heading home today?
Deb, Sharon dog delivered without mishap, think she said 4 boys,3 girls.
Hope Gord gets good news from doc..
My grands spent so much time with us, they minded very well.
Well I have really done a number on my back. Just going to take it easy around the house today. This is from an injury I had in a car accident in 1987. If this doesn't cease and desist soon I will probably have to go for some Physio. Using lots of moist heat. Think I will camp out either on the bed or the floor. Problem with the floor is I have to get up and that is a challenge.
Tore the house apart on Sat night looking for my old glasses. There is something going on with my right eye and I wanted to see if it was the same with my old glasses on. I usually keep a pair of old glasses in my night table. Nope not there. Finally gave up after an hour cursing myself loudly for being careless. Late yesterday afternoon I glanced into the den and saw a huge clear plastic bag on a chair in there. I had emptied most of the things in the drawer into the bag when a glass of milk was spilled into it. Don't ask ...lol Yep the glasses were in the bag. There is something definitely going on with my right eye...... I have to close it to watch TV or even turn left in the Escape. I know I have a cataract on it so maybe that is kicking up.
Can I squeeze in with Gord when he sees the eye doc M ? I will have to see my GP first I guess.Hope Gord gets a good report.
Furnace clicked on last night - it is set at 50F. No wonder it was cold in here.
TH is camped out here on the bed with me.We did get a walk in yesterday well they walked I supervised. Met up with another cranky beaver near Frank's.
Time to give my yearly rant about turtles on the move. The box and painted turtles are starting up the hill to lay their eggs. Please if you see a turtle on the road or wherever do NOT move it. If you do make sure it is pointed in the same direction you found it. I'll get off my soapbox now.
On your way home today LK?
Sending positive thoughts and prayers Betty.
Susan what are you up to today ?
Need to find some breakfast - won't be much and will be bland.
BBL
Dianne

Oh yes .. bonus for the new puppies birth .. wow .. lots !!! Busy Mom ..
Best get movin .. back into the city ..

I'm excited! Our tenants are asking about their damage deposit! They sent an email saying that the bathroom floor tiles (2) are cracked and that it was poor workmanship - done professionally last June. There was no water in removing old, or installing new and I told tenants that. They're now saying that they hope they don't have to go to Residential Tenancy to get their Damage Deposit back
LOL looks like they're accepting they have to move. I'm happy
btw - they aren't owed any $$ until 10 days AFTER they move. We are able to assess any damage, after they move, so we're covered lol
From the damage they've noted (and they sent pics which back US up - the idjits), we have $$ we can withhold.
I got home at 10:30 this morning, wrote some check to put in the mailbox, and just got up from a nap.
Glad to hear Gord got a good report.
Dianne, I hope you can get quick appointments for your eyes and back.
Betty, I hope you are released today with good lab results.
Susan, glad to hear they finally realize they have to move out.
WINDY day here .. have spent most of the afternoon reading ..
Good to hear your home LK ... a nap would be lovely, but,ZOEY doesn't like it when I lay down in the DAYlight .. LoL
Betty .. how are you doing today ?
Sharon .. we have your wind, good heavens is it brisk !
How's your back doing?
Debbie .. any news ..?
Susan, I surely hope those 2 have stopped playing their vicious games and just get on with their lives .. and, I hope you don't get called for a reference for them !
Must go and look up some info on Yosemite and the fact that it 'could' blow in the future, caught something on the TV about it and felt it might be out of proportion .. sure hope so ..
TOODLES
~M~
Evening
Still hooked up to IV,mom came and dropped off treats, ok for another night!
Dianne, did you get the snow as we did? Covered the ground.
Bet it feels great being home Lindakay, shows although you enjoyed it, it tired you out
"m" I'm going to look at Yosemite as well
LK - glad you're home - naps are such lovely mini-vacations, aren't they? :-)
~M~ Sorry to hear ZOEY won't let you take a nap in the DAYlight lol You always give me a big ole smile! "playing silly games" sounds like The Rovers song "the Unicorn" lol
Betty - has your mom gotten you quilting in the hospital????? Nice of her to bring treats :-)
Today they came to do bloodwork, and I'm still just on pills, no injections.
This afternoon, I got my cortisone shot in my left knee. One more week and I can do physio.
Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to the library's Stitch & Chat group.
Thurs I go to Addie's Knit and Knatter group, then to my 2nd class on knitting socks (finished the first ankle sock and am now working on the 2nd one - they fit Bob). I think she's going to be surprised I finished the first one lol
We had to buy wool to make a full size pair of socks (sock wool, very thin - like baby wool) and the appropriate needles. The original directions had the wrong size of knitting needles so I had to buy 2 pair! I I wish I'd known ahead of time which size, because I have my own. Oh well, now I have more, and more is better, right? lol
We got your snow this afternoon Betty. Covered the grass and melted as fast as it came down.
LOL Susan I can just see Betty quilting away in the hospital.
It is downright cold here today and getting colder as the hours go by. Tomorrow looks like it is going to stay cold. The oil furnace clicked on a hour or so ago.
Oh M the TH race to the bed if they think I am going for a nap. They vie for what they think is the best spot. Sometimes I come into the BR to get something and they race in. When I don't lay down they look at me like 'what's up ?'
All this talk of knitting makes me think I will go by the new knitting store that opened in the village. I really need some refresher lessons - I haven't knitted since the early 80's.
Susan do you use 4 needles when you knit the socks? I can remember my mom using 4 needles on socks.
Woo hoo on Gord's good report at the eye doc.
LK do you sleep well when you go to your son's place?
Barb how are things in your new place?
Going to read for a bit. Hoping Sharon's sleep fairies will find me tonight. I was supposed to do the overnight ICU shift for my friend Ron but they were able to move him to a regular room. I told him I would still come in if he wanted but he thought he would like to try it on his own. He sounds the best I have heard him in months. I am just as glad as I can't bend over at all.
Sweet dreams everyone
Dianne and her TH
No, I always worry about my son when he is out late. He was at a tattoo convention, it closes at 11:00, and is about midnight when they get home. Just a worry wort of a Mother.
I know that Betty won't be quilting in the hospital. Too tired.
It's the way I was - asked Bob to bring my knitting, and got 63 stitches cast on, and 2 rows....... in the 5 days I tried to get a VERY simple prayer shawl done. Knit one row, row 2 was Knit 3, purl 3 all the way across. I really didn't start knitting until I'd been home about 2 weeks. Kept picking it up, but didn't have the energy sometimes to do ONE row...
# of needles - I used to knit on 4 needles, making mitts (many years ago, and forgot how to knit socks). This time around, our teacher is having us use circular needles to do the socks. A 32" needle no less. Really quite awkward and time-consuming, because you have to stop and pull the point of the needle through on one side, and the flexible part through between the two sets of divided stitches in the middle, on Every Row. Arrrrgh.
I like using circular needles on large projects, but on a small piece like a pair of socks? Not my cup of tea.
Good morning ..
We have snow all around us, but, nary a flake is falling ..temps sitting at 28F .. brrr ..
Was also going to ask as to how Barb is doing .. nice to move, after the fact, but .. sometime Unpacking can be as tedious as packing ..
Dianne, I hope your friend is doing OK .. as well, I hope your back will start feeling better ..
Groceries today .. Lorna is trying to get up at 6 (ish) this week as she goes back to work next Monday ..
Betty .. hope you're feeling better ..
Susan, good luck with the knitting ..

Morning all,
Looking out the window and see its raining, nurse said grass is getting greener, imagine I will see a bit more growth in the gardens when I get home.
First day on oral meds, nice to have the lines taken out, was wrestless all night, too much bed, here they come at 6am for 1st dose..maybe between breakfast and having nurses check on me I can have a nap before I have to go downstairs for tests. Almost afraid to go home, not sure I'm up to more of these attacks.linda said when she saw me Thursday she thought I was done for .. Sick enough you wish it were so, know you've all felt that way.
Dianne, bet you pick up knitting needles and it all comes back to you. What happened to Ron? Would have been a long night staying up with him with your sore back. Missy will be glad to see me, she has been on my bed virtually since I was admitted.
Susan is it today you are off to the new group?
Lindakay, always a mother is right..saw the map on Facebook of the trip Jeff is planning, omg will take him at least 1/2 year..it's done in what he calls his coffin (kayak) that really inspires confidence..he best post mega times a day or I will be worried silly. Once plans are set I'm not sure when he will go
Greg leaves in the a.m. For Terredega Alabama for NASCAR races..he worried about going in case I need him but I assured him there is plenty of people I can call on..
They grew up to quickly..when young you have small worries, they get bigger and you have big worries..
Morning everyone!
Betty, he is going to make that trip in a kayak? WOW!
Either his kayak or might buy a sailboat..ideas these kids get
Either way, that is a long trip!
If I want to see him guess I'll have to do some travelling
Morning everyone.
We are in the middle of a snow and ice storm.Yuck. Will Spring ever come? I was going to go into Ktown this morning to get my hair cut and sign my taxes ...... think I will wait until tomorrow. It is very pretty out there though.
My back is no better. Darn!! Can't get in to see my GP until Fri.
Chaos had a catastrophe yesterday. What a mess !!! I was putting something in the dishwasher and he stuck his head inside it. His collar got caught, he was in a panic. He pulled the whole bottom shelf out and dragged it across the floor. Lots of broken plates, bowls and my favourite pie plate. He was so scared.
Need to get the TH in for the Lyme blood test. Both Diesel and Chaos have a growth that needs to be checked also. Rotties are known for growths and cancer so I want them looked at.
Sad news from the village this morning. One of the PSW workers in the area committed suicide yesterday. Of course lots of speculation and gossip. She leaves a very emotionally fragile 14 year old daughter.
It is STILL snowing... I am going to have to shovel the steps off. I think I can use my leaf blower to do it - much easier on my back.
Susan I knew Betty wouldn't be quilting but just the image of her on her sick bed with IVs trying to quilt made me smile.
Dianne and her TH
Rats my Hemoglobin is going down again. I had a feeling it might be but was trying to ignore hoping I was wrong.
Waiting to hear what will happen this time. I really don't have time for this.
Sad news Dianne indeed? That poor child...
What a mess, bet he won't go near the dishwasher for a bit
Drats, they came to say 10:30 imaging moved to 12:30, came back and said 3:30, big sigh
Sorry to hear about your dishes Dianne.
Betty, sorry for your delay.
Karen please don't ignore those symptoms. Go get some blood.
Not ignoring Linda, waiting for Dr. to call. but it could be this evening. Just when you think it's too late, he calls.
BIG HUNGE Judy kinda armwraps for Betty, Karen, Sharon and Dianne .. jeepers ladies .. I hope all goes well for all of you ..
Oh Dianne .. poor Chaos .. dogs just PANIC when they get caught up !! Horrible mess to clean, PLUS your fave pie plate bit the dust !!
Re the PSW's daughter .. is there family left for her to be with .. poor little girl ..
Betty, tests get pushed back lots now .. triage ..
OH MY .. what a route Jeff has chosen .. he'll not do ALL of it on water though, right ?
Missy will be your cuddle bunny when you get home :-)
Karen .. I guess 'the cure' is blood .. and, I know it's a boring procedure, but, you have to admit you feel better after ..
Groceries are bought and put away .. supper is about ready, then, off to the dump as we didn't make it on Saturday ..
Take care everyone
~M~
Poor Chaos.......... I can just picture the panic on his face....... then to drag the "monster" along with him! Yikes. No, he won't go near a dishwasher for a long time. Cured his curiosity I'll bet....... Sorry to hear your back isn't any better!
Betty - at least you don't have anywhere else to go lol - wait in bed until they come for you......... So happy you're being looked after
How many years is this that Jeff has been taking this trip kayaking - 3?
Karen - I guess along with the others, that blood is your saviour. Thank goodness they do know what to do, but the waiting is difficult.
No snow here - lots of fog on Sunday, but dissipated by noon. We're getting smatterings of rain though. Enough to keep it cool (45F now). Wait for sun to peek out around 3pm.......
Yes, new knitting group this afternoon. Dianne - you'll pick up knitting again in no time. I did. Wish I hadn't picked a baby sack to start (back in 2013) - difficult around the zipper area.
Popping in to say hello and wish Betty speedy release time!!!!
Oh Dianne - those pups sure are full of it. Hope the clean up wasn't too bad on your back.
Glad you are enjoying the knitting groups Susan.
Karen, as trite as this sounds, take whatever you need to keep going!!!!
Sending prayers to all in need. Judy, Debbie, Deb, Linda, and any others my pea brain may be forgetting at the moment.
Sounds like you are all keeping busy now that Spring has finally decided to start. I say start as I look out at slush falling from the sky!!! Half rain, half snow. But it won't last now.
I have been out straight this past week trying to get things where I want them. I finally have the sewing/office/bedroom straightened out so that I can function easily I will take pictures when the sun comes back out. Something is wrong with the flash on my camera.
I started a window curtain this morning. I have a small window in the bath and the small Dresden plate I had over my sink before fits there nicely. So I am making another plate to put on a curtain for the opposing full window. I had forgotten how much fun making the plates was to do. It is time for a hot cup of tea to warm me up. I refuse to turn up the heat anymore until next Fall.
Enjoy the rest of the day and I send you all hugs.....
Sun came out and most of the snow is gone. Still quite chilly though.
M the young girl has her father.who adores her. Both parents were alcoholics but dad is able to keep a job. She is going to have a rough go of it. My heart ached for her when her DM was alive. Now it will have an even bigger ache.
Barb it is 45*F here and with the lake it is that damp cold. I can't tackle the wood stove so the oil furnace clicked on. I can just see dollar bills flying out of the chimney. lol
I will look tomorrow if I can move a bit better and see if I kept and stored all of my knitting needles.
Cleaning lady was here this morning. The house smells and looks so good.
My body is telling me to nap but I am worried if I do I won't get to sleep at all tonight.
Oh Betty M is right about the MRI / cat scan schedule change - because you are in the hospital they can fit you in whenever they have an opening. I have actually had them come earlier to get me for an MRI.
Oh Barb sounds like you are enjoying getting your new home put together. Looking forward to seeing your photos.
Dianne
