Status of Updates & Fixes

Let's go here to continue the discussion: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1412213/

I *think* the issues mentioned here have all been captured in the first post.

Going to the end of the post seems most logical to me, and it is definitely my preference. Being told someone else had posted while I was typing is a nice feature, but seems unnecessary if you automatically go to the end of the post, as you would see the new posts then.

Actually, in my opinion, being told that someone else has posted while I was typing is useful, because there may be comments in those new messages that I want to respond to while I am still working on my message.

In forums on other sites, when I receive a "someone else posted while" message, I open the forum in a second window so that I can read those messages and respond to them in my in-work message, if it seems appropriate.

Actually, ironically, Terry's post occurred while I was still working on my post, without my knowledge.

I still have a backslash before apostrophes on my Home Page. :(

Can you tell me which thread(s) are still showing this?

It's in my list of Latest Threads and in the Plants ID Forum. It was post #10183144.

Strange, but it was definitely a lingering backslash. Do you still see it?

No, I'm not still seeing the backslash.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I had to unwatch and then click watch again to have this forum show up in my watched list. What a PITA.

Why did the programmers change the ability to immediately access the last read post in a thread? Before (and on other sites right now) be taken to the last read post. Now it is required to get into the thread and then click on skip to new. Why is that better than the previous method which required 1 click; now at least 2 are required. Tedious and unnecessary. Was there a reason that has not been explained or that I missed?

As far as I know, we've always had the two-step process of first clicking on the thread, then skipping to new.

I think it's for your own convenience.

Terry and stillwood ~ I remember it as being a two-step process as long as I've been a member. I actually prefer starting at the beginning of a thread and clicking on "Skip to new".

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

I Nevr had skip to new, the thread always started at first post, then I had to scroll down for 300 odd posts. I like the paginators but wish it were a top of thread option...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Skip to new has always been here.

It was always there at the top of each thread, but a lot of people didn't see it :-).

How come after viewing photos, when you click out of them it takes you back to the BEGINNING of the thread, not to the post where the pix were??? More clicks to get back to where you want to be....................

If you click on "Back to Post" (just above the photo) it will take you right back to the post you were viewing. It requires only one click.

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7a)

It does say "Back to post" just above the picture and it works..

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7a)

Perhaps it needs to be in larger type until people get used to it.
