9th Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop..hear those bells??

Victoria Harbour, ON

Likely because of too much paint but that is ok dry and do again

Did you know you are part of keeping Santa's magic alive

Dried and I think it is covered pretty well. Love how pouncing makes it look like snow!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Now do you see why we kept the mactac on?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

What would our world be like without Santa's magic?? perish the thought.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That it does Barb, 1st 3 I made last year I painted on the white..Drats, when the lights are on you see every brush stroke

Now remember I enjoy seeing photo's of how you are progressing as well

Victoria Harbour, ON

Isn't that the truth

So glad that Judy and Liz got me to do the 1st workshop

Know with the economy it's hard for people to join in or they think they just can't do it?? But I'm sure you will attest many of you have made wonderful projects and some more than one, two, three. Lol

Judy and Liz have done all 9

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I can't download pictures onto this laptop but must use the main pc in the other room. So I will take pictures as I go and have Norm download and post when he gets back. He is off to do the laundry!!!!

After being at your home I'm caught up to all 9 too!!! This is special to me every year : )

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I think I have done all but the sleigh. And have loved everyone.

Glenview, IL

So smiling, Yep I have enjoyed every single workshop.
Yep I love when we all gather around same time, it just is so much more fun to work and chat. Almost like we are all at Betty craft table.

doing my second coat in a few minutes.

Yes I too really like this texture!

Now comes some magic

Carefully and slowly lift off the mactac, I start in a corner and slowly lift

Now if you have a tad of seepage outside the circle, wet a piece of paper towel

If some lifted then hopefully it's a small area and you can paint it in, if large the take or put mactac back on and pounce, dry, pounce and dry

Now if the top of circle is the area with imperfections not to worry because your hat should cover it

Let me know how it goes

We now should have our block looking like this and dry

Mine is almost dry.

Are you using hair blower Lindakay

Did getting rid of more water in the sponge do the trick?

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

I am just now joining in. Gotta get my paint out and get started.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, I am using a hair dryer. And yes the bubbles are gone.

Ok

Time to put on a happy face

Likely the traced circle is a tad bigger than your inner circle, does matter

Place it on the circle trying to keep patter lower so as not to cover with the hat. I.e. Eyes and tree branches

Now hold your tracing and slide piece of graphite under the tracing

So that you don't trace the whole thing then realize the graphite side wasn't on the white make a small mark and see if it shows

Your graphite won't cover entire piece so hold your tracing and move graphite to an area not traced

Now we are not tracing the entire branch needles, just main trunk to see where generally we add them

Dots in eyes not necessary, nor eyelashes or markings in the nose

See photo as to what I traced

Just ask questions as you need to Annette

Did any of you have to mend your white circle?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Mine is good. Just had one spot to clean up and that was more MacTac than paint. Took photo.

Are these headaches going away Betty? You seem to be getting them often. How are you doing with your back LK? I think of you every time mine starts to twinge a bit. And how are you feeling lately Judy besides tired? Everything okay?

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Btw it is snowing here too!

Victoria Harbour, ON

We will soon be doing the cheeks, hmm not sure what brushes you have

Do you have any old ruined brush that might look like this?

If not I'll try something here to see how others can do it..were any of you stencil let's? Maybe a stencil brush?

Think it snowed just to give us a feel of winter wonderland and how else can we make a snowman/Snowlady without snow?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Or how about

Q-tips or piece of batting

Maybe a washcloth

Am I moving along too quickly?

Tracing done?

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Are you all drying the first coat with a hair dryer, then pouncing a 2nd coat of white? I think I read that right?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Got a piece of batting here.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That's what I did Annette.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It is 31 here this morning.

I just traced my face.

Pacifica, CA

Ok im un lazy now lol,
l just got frost sprayed waiting to dry so i can sponge

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

OMG LK I am warmer than you are. It is 35 here now. Isn't that a bit unusual for you?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oops, I forgot the picture.

Hi Liz!! Great to see you even though we haven't met. Judy and Betty have told me so much about you and Ken.

Morning Liz, early in your neck of the woods

Yes Annette, makes process quicker using dryer

Snow won't last, calling for 50 Thursday and Friday

Did any of you have trouble taking tape off and losing some of your circle?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Liz. Early for you?

Yes Barb, it is unusual for us, but not unheard of. Just that cold front moved farther down that they thought.

Victoria Harbour, ON

All good Liz. Lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I had a small problem with paint getting under the tape. I need to get a better tape, but it cleaned up easy.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Weather liars said this morning that we would have a warmer winter than last year. Sure hope so as I don't do cold well at all.

My face looks like LKs.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wether or not you use a scruffy brush, q-tip or batting to process is same
Likely you will have to do process for each cheek

Dab some red on what you are using, now on an old towel or paper towel Work it off until you think you have no paint left

Keep in mind there is texture on your snowman piece so lightly, barely touching the area you will set cheeks on lightly, lightly go in circular motion from inner cheek area to outer..you will see how texture grabs the paint

Remember, don't get discouraged as this is almost hidden and there is yet another step

Not sure what you mean Barb, looks like lindakay's
