9th Annual DG Christmas Craft Workshop..hear those bells??

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Got dark chocolate paint - that should be okay.

Glenview, IL

I decided to fix my cheeks, think they are better now.

big hugs Julie. My MIL has same issues, but she does let them know how long its been, they get aggrevated and it kind of messes up the phone call.
...When I do get wind of the no call, I remind them to call her, got to admit tho it's not that often they need reminding.

Glad you got your block cleaned, I'll be luring after today to off support.

Betty, your breakfast sounded great! I had a sloppy omelette.

Linda kay, glad you have place to stand, I stand a lot when working too.
Barb, I got issues with my feet and legs as well. I really just try to keep moving until the pain is too great, then I have to sit for several minutes, like 20 to 30.
Winter is the worst.

Barbara, I saw in the BWL how you and Norm went shopping, you two are adorable!

OK getting ready to work on the nose.

Victoria Harbour, ON

You won't be hungry for bacon, eggs and home fries Annette. Lol

Drats not sure why all of a sudden photo's are reversing

This is the dark red / brown colour

As with cheek shading, eye highlighting dress brush same way and shade left side of carrot

Now turn the block sideways and pull a tad of color, drag the edge of the brush just a tad, stopping, when you lift it should leaves a few lines, now skip a space and do again..when you get to the narrow part of the nose you are really working on tip of brush so you don't get paint onto the white

Don't fret if you do just brush a tad of white to hide it

I've been lurking, just letting you know I'm cheering you all on. They're looking good.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Now if you don't have a lot of variety in greens, not to worry

Take your darkest and add a twitch of black

Pull from the paint with a tad of water, want ink consistency but don't want it to bleed, so test it first

Pull, and please fight the need to be structured and make straight lines

Put you liner in ink consistency, pull down and lift to set in main branch stems

Then hardly touch surface with same color, ink consistency and add in a few needles, remember we will add needles in different colours so don't fill the branch in quite yet

Still snowing but pretty

Don't just lurk Karen, join in

Now let me know when you've reached this point

Brunch is ready, how do you like your eggs

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now if you've no med green but have yellow add some to the darkest green paint you have and add in a few more random needles on the branches, remember, no structure and not straight

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Basically I'm just lightning up my greens and doing a few needles lighting..see how I didn't stick to same branch but pulled some sideways onto other branches?

Went yet one shade lighter and that is about the time I say done to the painting other than sparkles on nose and tree branches

I believed I wrapped some going sparkles in solution, hope it didn't dry up

The sparkles don't take much paint so perhaps while you've sparkles on a brush you can add some to the snowflake on your glove and hat as well as a tad on hat and gloves

Now she is saying just how cold she is, best we put a hat on her

Starting to think I'm alone here

Did you all want to stop?

Likely another hour to finish

Do any of you have glue guns?

Are you using glue

Have a little batting or rags of sort?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I made a major booboo!!! The eye on the left - I put her eyelashes on the right side of her eye instead of on the left!!!! So--- I scraped off everything with the lashes, put new frosting stuff on, did a couple coats of white and now I'm hoping it will still look okay with the lights on.
Yours looks like a vibrant happy snow lady Betty. Mine looks like a shy little girl!!!
What is the name of the stuff in the small container that we put on first and makes it frosted? I may try to make another one.

Glenview, IL

wooh,

I'm only doing the one for today. It's really good practice.

yep I have glue and batting!

LOL Betty, everyone is concentrating...I'm doing the line with my tongue out to side of lip, lolol

ohhh still have to iron the snowflakes, on it now.

Linda kay are you doing all 4 of your?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

First picture is of my boo boo and the second is the fix. What do you think Betty? Or should I do it over? What is the name of the stuff that you sent in the little container that made the glass frosty? I may need to get some of that if I make another one.

oh, oh Barbara...well you know on the piece Betty sent has I lashes on inside too.
I cheated and traced them so my eyes have lashes on both sides.

Sounds like she is all fixed up...shy? how cute.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I have a glue gun and batting too. Must go iron on the snowflakes as I spent so much time redoing eyes!!! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

You could have added a few on each side, they would have looked adorable Barb

Victoria Harbour, ON

It's called glass and tile medium but you can buy a small can of frost it and spray them

Off to plug my glue gun in

Victoria Harbour, ON

I started to glue the top righ hand side of the hat on the narrow edge, put hot glue, pulled hat over the glue and just tapped it down with pen so I wouldn't burn my fingers should glue seep through

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now I turned it over to work on the other top narrow side, because I find it adds interest I put glue and glue hat a little lower, you could Ebpver cover part of left hand side brow if you wanted to

After putting glue maybe an 1" or 1 1/2" up from hat edge i pressedhat into glue ..that 1 to 1 /2" was left unglued so I could I turned up a brim, added a touch of glue to hold the brim

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now I stood the block up and turned the brim lower on left and maybe 1/2 inch on right ..added a little gle, just enough to tack where the brim is turnimg

Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now from the back I pushed some batting under the hat, if you've no batting rags or even paper towels scrunched up will do, then I glued it

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Wahhhhh I can't find my glue gun. I know the lady upstairs has one but she isn't home right now. But I will follow along so I will know what to do....

My snowflakes are ironed on so they are ready.....

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

BooooooHooooo... when I got the message from Betty over on the other thread THEN I found this thread. I don't know how I missed moving over! I will have to catch up later but I will get this done, I'm really looking forward to it.

Also will get the $ sent. I thought it was odd you hadn't answered my question about how much money to send! Now I know... YOU did when you told everybody HERE!! LOL... Yikes, I'm losing it

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am here. I sat back in the recliner and had a nap. I have looked everywhere for my liner paintbrush and can't find it. So I am stopping for today. I will be ready to go tomorrow.

Judy, I will do all 4, but my first one is my practice piece. :)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Drats, am sure it's there somewhere Barb

Now that hat is attached I took one of the strands I sent and created a little poof to the hat by tying it with the cording

With the other cord I made a bow, don't think I made the bow for you..once made I glued it where the other cord it. Sure helps when you have someone in the house with you..one holds the hat up while the other ties..knew I should have 4 hands

I glued, watch those fingers, the bell to the centre (optional)

Voila, adorable Snowlady piece to light up and decorate your life..

Hope you've enjoyed!!

Thank you so very much Betty for all you do for us. Once again, this has been such a fun day. I will post a photo as soon as I get my hat glued on and the lights in. Think Norm is going to get me a new glue gun so I will have one here. I was positive but you know what that means. I most likely gave it away... LOL

THANK YOU

Edited to add that Judy's is sooooooo cute. This has been a great project.

You girls have done a beautiful job making snow ladies! Like you, Linda Kay, I took a nap!

Thank you all for the kind words. I don't have a significant other to lean on, no close friends near me... you're all over the country and Canada! So, I lean on you! And you lift me up! I love you all and I am so blessed! ♥

Will be starting dinner soon for my teenagers. They wanted breakfast for dinner. So, eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy, biscuits, and grits!

I'll probably start on my snow lady Tuesday. Have dentist appt. at 8 tomorrow morning then meeting up with my daughter and DIL tomorrow afternoon to do gifts in a jar. Hopefully, I'll get to spend a few minutes with Caden to love on him. DIL is posting pics on Facebook showing Caden with all her friends and family and I have to admit I'm a little envious. The only reason I can figure that he clings to my DIL is that my granddaughter Elani is mean to him. And so far, my daughter and DIL have made all the plans to get together and I don't have any one-on-one time with him. Please say a little prayer for me! ♥

I will post pics as I go! Just might get another block while I'm buying supplies and do two! ☺

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Yes Betty, Thank You! This has been great fun. I still have to do my Hat and Gloves And Light it up! I will post a pic when I am finished. I have enjoyed the company of all of you wonderful ladies today! We must do this again!

Annette was you block a different size or does it just look like that in the photo?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Judy and Annette, they turned out wonderful. I can't wait to get mine done. Going shopping tomorrow if these old sore hips allow it. They don't like the cold weather we had this morning.

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)
