Those puppies are so cute.
I love that quilt. Nice work on the hand applique.

Verona, ON

Oh Lordy Betty you melted my heart with the pics of the pups. I have a special spot in my heart for arctic dogs. Had 2 Samoyeds for several years. Both developed severe diabetes. They took mega doses of insulin twice a day. Ana ended up going blind but never stood down from taking a walk.

Need to get ready to visit some friends. Champagne is involved so I will walk .... not much of a drinker anymore.

I see the beads! Beautiful. Puppies too cute, I want one...
Hubs would throw me out. When we had to say goodbye to Chinook. ... he told me NO More. .. I was a wreck.
Just birds now, messy but easy, and we can leave them for a couple of days and not worry about them (much). But I do miss having a dog.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Presentation went very well. They had a large crowd and even the local paper. Poor fell is just skin & bones. He really liked his quilt and kept it wrapped around himself.

Another wonderful gift, for you Karen, and of course a deserving Vet.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks again for doing that Karen. Any pictures?

Bet it was very touching Karen, God bless him and you for driving that distance for the presentation.

well, my neibors had me arrested friday. 3rd dregree mischef, then they took my fence down. plan on spending today at the lawyers and the county commissioners office

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Omg that's not good..hope it was just a formality and they didn't keep you..now comes the expense of fighting it Kathy! Just what you didn't need..think I should bake a cake for my neighbors for being so helpful after hearing about yours.

Jamie on my right brought in equipment again and got the drainage tubing set in and covered in hopes when the rains come or spring thaw I won't get flooded.

Don't know what I'd do if we didn't get along..worse that happens at his place is I have to comment on the wife or daughter yelling at the dogs

Suppose to be 56 today, will not overdo but will start putting things away..figure a few hours a day ought to do it and if be done by the weekend.

Not sure if I'm leaving for Florida Friday, must phone Darlene today.

Best of luck to you with that .. holy cow .. what a predicament ..!!!

Having computer issues .. no sound, and couple of other things .. here's hoping I can call today and get someone who speaks English! I am still under warranty with Dell until Oct. 26.

The furnace has run most of the night .. but the high today will be in the low 60s .. Lorna loves working in the cooler temps .. she's done at the end of October, and, her parents arrive, I think, Nov. 8th.

Karen, so wonderful you got to make another quilt presentation .. made his day :-)

Not sure what's up today .. perhaps groceries ..

Take care everyone

Betty, i was out in 2 hours. i sat at the st. desk, because i refused to wait in a cel. they were filthy

Victoria Harbour, ON

We've much the same weather "M"

Can't you ask when calling for someone,who speaks our English..I often use the excuse I'm elderly and can't make out their accent so could I be transferred..seems to work

Is Lorna's dad up to the trip..would have thought that maybe this time Lorna could fly, know it's inconvenient but many I pity such handicaps do fly..she will be pleased to have a rest, been a hard summer for her working in this heat.

Waiting for 7:30 to call Timbrr, need them to deliver roll of heavy plastic so it's here so I can do the back deck enclosure

Victoria Harbour, ON

What a terrible experience for you Kathy!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Called Darlene, not sure I mentioned it but she has started seeing someone, they've been doing bluejay games, now he had invited her to a Paul McCartny concert on the 17th so no Florida this weekend..don't really want to go, I was so hoping she would say he will drive her down..who knows, maybe by the time she is ready to go he might

Just emailed the boys to see what day I can do thanksgiving dinner if they haven't Lready made plans

Life is always changing, just got to go with the flow. Lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear she is seeing someone.

Kathy I hope you throw the book at them.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Me too Kathy!!!
Busy day here. Went to Brandon's 20th bday yesterday. Wonderful time. They have anew puppy - miniature poodle - and his other grandmother got a new puppy too - tiny corgi. The other gram has asked me to make a couple of sweaters for her pup as she can't find ones tiny enough.
So I will make one for each.
Then one of the girls who rides horses with the group Brandon started in high school has asked me to take in her show shirts as they are loose and "billowy" in the back. Darts are there - just need to make them deeper. I got them basted this morning so they can go back for a fitting. Thank heaven all my blocks are done as I still have three purses to make too!!! So-----I'm off to the machine.
~~~Waving to all and sending prayers for those in need....
Victoria Harbour, ON
You'll be one busy lady Barb..belated birthday wishes to Brandon..20 wow the years sure have flown..he and Braedon are same age.
Little light headed this morning, think I've been rushing a tad to fast..light rain during the night, everything damp so will wait for all to dry then can put them away..with not going to Florida this weekend it gives me extra time. Hmm maybe the gang can help if I have thanksgiving. Lol
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)
Linda, this is Kirk. He really didn't say much, seemed just too weak. He did seem to enjoy being wrapped in his quilt.
Young man Karen, why did I think he was elderly
(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)
Ohhhh Kathy !! what did you do?? never heard of 3rd degree mischief !!
many years ago we had a neighbor.... oh my... they were crazy. we were on a very narrow rd, and there was a pullover spot in front of our house. we joked often that we were going to put up a sign " Police Parking" yup, they were there often.... ours was a case of city folk, moving out to the country. they took down stone wall between properties , then complained when some of our critters went into their yard !! They called state health department, saying our geese and chickens were going to make their children ill (bird flue) Yup they were nuts. I could go on and on.
all these years later, we can laugh at it now, but sure was a pain in the rear, to deal with when it was going on!!
I feel for you.
good morning all. day off today, hope to make progress on snowflakes, and quilts for the girls, Hubs is working on a project, so I should be good to sew for a few hours anyways :)
Y'all have a great day !
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)
After the presentation yesterday, I went to give a test drive to a sewing machine for my DGD. It's a Bernina 1630 that was on Craig's List and happened to be in the same town as the presentation. Seems to be a nice machine and from what I've seen, the price is reasonable.
It was at the sellers mother's house. We ended up saying we could just about be sisters. Our medical states are about identical. We had the same heart surgery, about the same time, with the same surgeon. Our experiences were similar except she had a small stroke afterward and I had the near fatal bleeding beforehand. We have matching scars too and seem to be going through some of the same things emotionally. In an odd way it was comforting to talk with someone who knew just what I was feeling.
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Thanks for the picture Karen, he does look very young. A shame the veterans hospital, doesn't take of the vets as they need!
Enjoy your sewing day Barb and Thunder.
mulege, Mexico
Anyone want to come to Mexico and make glass flowers/ Sorry, Kathy, you can't send your neighbors. I've had neighbor problems and it's awful. It's one reason I bought where I did. One house nearby and no room for any others.
My friend Barbara visited yesterday and we began stacking dishes for flowers and maybe a birdbath or two. I have stacks and sacks of glassware collected over the years and stored here and there. I keep finding more. Think we are going to have to learn to drill glass as some are heavy and our heat and humidity are hard on glue. Barbara will be back later this morning. It was fun. Maybe I'm turning into a miniBetty though I can't imagine socializing that much.
While finding and washing dishes I did manage to fill two trash cans for the garbage truck which comes today. It is depressing how much stuff there is to deal with but I put on my mental blinders and tackle one area at a time.
If all of you would come down for a month or two this winter we could get it all cleaned up and everybody would go home with a boxcar full of new stuff.
hugs, katie
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Wish I was closer Katie. Dishes are hard to find here for projects like that. I have heard that
E 6000 glue works pretty good.
Sure wish you had a camera, so we could see your gardens and crafts!
Verona, ON
O h Karen even wit the pain in Kirk's eyes I can see the comfort the quilt gave him. By that stage Warren was wrapped in quilts 24/7 he was never warm. Our Thea made him a lap quilt but loved it so much he wrapped it around his shoulders. Miss ya Thea if you are reading.
Terrible vertigo attack hit yesterday ao I am still laying down quite a bitl
D
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Hope you are feeling better soon Dianne.
Betty, you said you were light headed. Did you take your blood pressure meds?
Victoria Harbour, ON
I've been a good girl, got a scare a few weeks ago and am sure trying to take them and so far so good..
Drats on the vertigo Dianne, you just get over it and back it comes..how is diesel?
Karen, nice visit and you are right, nice to have someone who knows exactly what you are going through..will your dad purchase the machine?
Katie, you will love doing the glass flowers. I bought a diamond drill bit and use drill press, works like a charm..always have a bucket of water and a sponge to keep adding water to the area you are drilling, that way the drilling goes easier and less chance of breaking.
When Joyce was here and we were in Bracebridge a vendor was selling bird feeders using dishes,bowls etc. they were so pretty,must get to the feed store and buy those metal chicken feeders, been saving mason jars and will make a few
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Kathy - nasty neighbours......
Betty - you don't have to give any excuses, you can just say you want to speak to someone who's native language is the same as yours, English
Spoke to Residential Tenancy and they said our tenants cannot be evicted for THIS non-payment of rent, but can in the future, for habitual non-payment of rent. So, I guess that means November now.
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)
Eviction can be a hard drawn out process, especially if they have a child. You can win an eviction and they can just ignore it. Then you have to go back to court and get order for police to evict. I'm hoping it doesn't happen but be prepared it can.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Drats, especially with winter coming on..my mom and dad's home they had rented out stayed all winter not paying rent and they couldn't evict them, when finally they were escorted off the premise they had taken cans of paint and dripped it all over the rugs, dad had just put in the cupboards, the doors were off and smashed, nobody could live in it..didn't take him long to fix and sell, no more renting..some people make a habit of renting without paying other than 1st and last...big sigh
My brother sold his house yesterday,meh had bought a home in Wasaga beach so has a home to go to, they are thinking of renting an apartment to stay 4-5 days a week until he officially retires. Bit of a shock as it has only been up less than 1 week..can't figure out who can buy homes for $800k..shaking my head, not me
