Karen has far surpassed anything I have done for the QOV Stars group! !! Sew Happy I mentioned it here, and got her to join. :)

Glenview, IL

Hi, I am here, been reading, praying, cheering and some crying.

Sending tight armwraps for everyone.

(Insert, a big long drawn out story...I am just too aggravated and tired to think about any more)
Hopefully, things are coming to an end with it, throw in a major argument with kids and a whole lot of traveling, which too is about to be finished..2 last get aways, and got a date to gather with the new in-laws to be. Throw in DH has been sick for the last 3 weeks, I cut the heck out of my finger and then on Monday, cut the other hands knuckles up! ACKKK, better hurry up and get lazy, lol.

Anyway, just wanted to pop in to say Hi and I miss you all.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear your life is spinning Judy. Sending prayers and hugs. I hope Steve is feeling better soon.

"T", First of all I don't work so I have all day free to pretty much do as I wish. Second we haven't had a family emergency that I had to drop everything and run to help with.
Yes, you told me about QOV and got me in, it's meant the world to me and keeps me sane. I am ever so grateful to you. When I get into a funk, I go and sew something for someone who made a huge sacrifice for me and mine. Then to actually get to present a quilt and give a hug, well it is a warm fuzzy feeling. I also express my thanks to the veterans family, I know they made a sacrifice for us too.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Karen .. like it or not, you are to be commended for your beautiful work ..
Each and every QOV quilt is an eternal hug from you .. and, a remembrance to the vet receiving it, that he is cherished, respected and loved ..

Judy, yikers, hope all calms down a bit for you .. when is the wedding ?

Just spent THIRTY minutes, maybe more, peeling 6 flippin eggs !!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr .. I guess they were too fresh ..

DH got stung by a wasp while sitting out with the dogs .. NOW it's an emergency LoL when I complained he just poofed it off ..

Lorna is being booked for an ultrasound of her abdomen .. the hematologist called to let me know, and, told me to tell her he wasn't worried about her platelets .. she's not happy, but .. a least something investigative is being done ..

Off to finish making supper .. Irish Sausage pudding .. LOL .. made with BRATS !!

~M~

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Marilynne - at least something's being done for Lorna re abdomen.....
hubby's DO tend to "poof off" going to the hospital for themselves, but when he's sick at home then they're terrible patients! lol
Hard for you to watch Smokey failing - here's praying he goes peacefully, and that you can deal with this.....
Pitlochry - how awesome you were there! Did you see the factory?
Irish Sausage pudding? never heard of it - wonder if there's a Scottish equivalent......?

Judy - you need a guaranteed calm in the storm..... wow, lots in your life.

Betty - no snow on the ground now. It's 20C today.

I wish I could sew here - it would be lovely, but there's no room for my sewing table, or table space otherwise to set up my sewing machine
Bob's picked up a stove at Habitat's ReStore, because our tenants say "our family goes hungry again, because we have no working oven". C'mon - really - hungry? They have 4 working elements, and a microwave. They just told us this Monday night, so of course we had to source out the stove and I had to serve them with a "Notice To Entry" 24 hours before. I went yesterday to put it on their door. Could not send, legally, through email or place it in their mailbox - had to either hand deliver or put somewhere visible. They stated they didn't want Bob near their baby, but he's their landlord and they cannot deny access to their landlord OR anything designated by their landlord to access the home with proper notice. So There, Marcel & Carolyn!!
We have an app't next Tues to see a free Lawyer for half hour consultation. They know the story, so will give us options. They also want to talk to us about where we live "illegal suite" and give us options. I don't want to rock the boat - Grace & Robert are giving us somewhere to live, after all. She wants to increase our rent by $100 for Dec "because of Christmas baking". I told Bob, I'm not baking for our anniversary, Thanksgiving, OR Christmas (if we're still here - lawyers will let us know what our options are re: getting back into OUR home - we shall see......)
At least we can use any receipts for repairs/improvements to a rental property on our taxes next year.

Sorry I'm saying SO much about this, but it's either tell someone or I sit here crying all day.

Here I was, working along on snowflake blocks and here you were chatting
Got the rest done and in the mail, just having trouble with the 'Frozen' block...
Lordy, just sat to enjoy a coffee and watch tv for a bit and Ironsides is on, haven't seen that show in ions.

Know this isn't the snowflake exchange block but couldn't resist, while I was at the post office to mail mine there was an block from Karen..I'm thrilled with it..so pretty and well done, she even sent me. Also a pattern for a scarf.wish I had some wool, hmmm did I hide some somewhere, anxious to try it.

Oops, someone at the door, be back in a bit

Beautiful work by Karen on the snowflake block!
AND a free knitting pattern? awesome
Now, there's something I can do - knitting!
I can't sew, because all my sewing books/materials are at Marcel & Carolyn's, in our storage sheds out back, and no place to put anything, nor room for my sewing table or a table at all to put my sewing machine. Ah well
I Can Knit.
Hope I have my knitting needles somewhere - I have my pattern book & some wool....
If not here, they're also at the sheds out back at their place and neither of us will go there, unless we have to/are invited to do repairs

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Beautiful snowflake block!

Ok, before I forget.....
Crockpot Roast
I beef roast (I usually use chuck)
I pkg. Au jus (powdered mix)
1 pkg. dry ranch dressing
1 stick butter

Put roast in crock pot. Sprinkle au jus over roast. Sprinkle ranch dressing mix over roast. Place butter on top of all and slow cook 9-10 hours. Yum.

wow - I love Slow Cooker recipes!!!
Don't you just LOVE this slow cooker?

Seems like there was something else I was supposed to answer, but can't remember what it is!

Yesterday I went to the chiropractor. He had my X-rays up and it turns out that my left hip is 7 cms higher than my right. My spine is also twisted a bit and I have a large bone spur. He thinks that with manipulation he can have me feeling better in 6-8 visits. I was sore this morning, but feel better tonight. He sad my hips look good. No arthritis and nice cartilage. He doesn't see any replacement in my future! Great news there! He thinks this problem results from a previous injury. He said not recent, it would be some years ago. I told him I was a gymnast in high school and he was sure that would have been the culprit. Probably a bad landing or maybe a fall from the beam or bars.

Today I went with my friend, Sherry to the orthopedist to have her knee checked out. She wasn't as lucky as me. She is bone on bone with arthritis in both knees. Her right knee which is giving her the most pain is knock kneed. Her left knee which isn't that painful to her is bow legged. So he said he's sure he's going to have to give her a new knee, but he wants her to have therapy and gave her a cortisone shot today. He said if she does this now that she'll do better with surgery. So she goes back to see him in 6 weeks.

Two houses to clean tomorrow and Friday and then leaving for Nashville Saturday morning.

I'm hugging you all! ~~~~~~

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Cute, Susan!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

*Hugs* right back atcha, Joyce!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Going to have tea then off to bed..those gals tired me out. Lol

Joyce, good news for you..did you ask him for another pack like you left in my freezer? If not I will send it to you.not so good for Sherrie though, she was a trooper even in pain..just think how much mischief you guys can get into if she has a new knee.

Girls what amazed me is no water added, just the ingredients Joyce gave..talk about yummy.

Now that's a slow cooker Susan. Lol

"m" best get the test done and be sure all is ok than not and the doc be wrong

You deserve to be on our honor roll Karen, you and thunder do so much for the quilt of valor group..am sure you push yourself as well as you aren't feeling the best.

Judy, sorry things are going so terribly wrong for you, sending hugs..what has Steve got that is taking him weeks to recover from..tell those kids they have to start looking after you for a bit

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh yes, Betty! I forgot to tell you. He gave me another so you keep that one. It can be used for hot or cold.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

another sleepless night - got a vile, nasty, and horrid email from our tenant..... why are people so nasty? He feels he has the power, because we can't evict them for anything.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Wakie wakie Marilynne ... let Lilly and Zoey out at 5:30am .. within seconds there was a flurry of activity on the OUTSIDE of their compound .. 5 deer were helping put one of the perennial beds to sleep for the winter !!!!
The dogs were in a frenzy .. good thing our neighbours are far enough away the barking wouldn't bother them ..

Joyce, I do so hope the adjustments work .. and good luck to Sherry too .. the cortisone shot Lorna had really did help her this last time.

What is it with busy days, I have enough chores etc to take up my entire day !!!!
#1 is to roust Lorna out of bed !!!

Enjoy your day

Victoria Harbour, ON

36 this morning with a feel like 30'guess it's time to get the heavy clothing out.brrr hate the heavy stuff..

Best the deer eat their fill 'm' as the frost surely will do a number on the gardens.

Caught up in housework, it's either just sit and do nothing today or maybe work on hockey quilt here and there..gals come tonight to sew, then busy busy, was going to leave my hair for a bit without a perm but can't stand it, getting one tomorrow, looking forward to Meaford (will think of you Dianne) the shower baby shower Sunday..don't have a gift..when in town I went to look at diapers to make a diaper cake but now there are so many kinds, photo's on the box looks fancier than plain old diapers, wouldn't want to pay $43 and not be able to use them for a cake..maybe I can find a mom to ask ..time is ticking, I'd better decide because there are a lot embellishments to buy.

Woke up thinking of Debbie this morning, she is missed but I guess some move on, sad. Often think of Mary and Bev as well. Guess their lives have taken a different route.

Den, how are things going for you?

Sharon called last night, she was at a garden centre picking up pots with liners for winter decorating, Lordy she is ahead of me his year..picked up 2 for me..here is what we are doing

Good Morning,
hahaha, that is a slow cooker, have to show that to Jacob!

Well Speaking of Jacob, He turned 20 in August! We were in Sturgis and he was mighty upset were weren't here for his Birthday. Then he went off to his month long trip. In Sept he graduated!! Yep I/We sure are proud of him.

Every one has so much going on!

Susan, if I were you, I would print out any nasty e-mails and bring them to your meeting with the lawyer next week. It sounds like harrassment to me.

A bit stressful at work, announcement of need for job cuts, but no word of how many, or if it will effect our location. I know business hasn't been good, not bad, but not what was planned for.

Our old girl, Willow, has been slowing down, too. She'll be 15 in a couple months, so she's getting up there, for a big dog. She's lost a lot of weight over the past 6 months or so, the stairs are getting harder, it's so hard to watch them struggle, but, she's still eating and begging for treats every time I open the fridge, so I'm thinking we still have some time.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, when someone rents a place in the states, there is usally many pages of the contract you have to sign. One of the stipulations is, you must keep your place clean, as the landlord has the right to enter the home at any time he feels fit for an insection. No notice is needed.

Morning everyone. Betty, I like those decorations in the hanging baskets.

Judy, they sure do grow fast. Does he have a job?

My youngest turns 34 today.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Here the landlord can enter but only with notice to the tenant.. Susan I would keep those nasty emails to show the lawyer also.

mulege, Mexico

It's beginning to cool off here. Yesterday afternoon was still too hot to do much but last night was positively chilly.

Max has to be reassured that he hasn't lost my love to Inky Dink. He hasn't. He even lets me pet the back of his head now. Not his back yet but he doesn't need to see my hand to allow petting.

Now Twink wants to be petted. She never gets enough so it's a bit frustrating. And Chocolate the cat is outside demanding either food or attention - or both.

Susan, I think you are fight to want to stress getting the tenants out with the attorney. Print out anything that might be relevant - including their Facebook statement that they would be moving. And ask about filing criminal charges for your missing mail.

Back later.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm printing out emails, and will bring them to see the lawyer.
Bob says the place smells - I asked if it was from the baby (she's 1 year old).
We brought a stove yesterday, from the ReStore, and he said it was unacceptable. He sent a picture saying it was unacceptable. It wasn't level, and we have to sent someone to fix the installation (?!?! just plug it in and it works......), He said that our friend who helped bring it with Bob - when she said hello to John "only to give her an exceptionally nasty & malevolent stare, which was intimidating". They don't want John in their home. Also, "I am also not intimidated by this nonsense of you, Susan, being a powerful person and knowing powerful people or threatening us with telling child protection that we do not look after our child" HUH? This "powerful" person sits here day after day, crying because I have no power, rights, or dignity left..... and "it is not for you to come here and dump a stove in the kitchen. You have exploited myself and Carolyn for the last three months......." and so on.

Please Lord - help us ..........

This message was edited Oct 1, 2015 6:54 AM

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

There are 2 reasons for a landlord to enter a suite, without notice - 1. they've abandoned the suite by not being there 4 or more days. 2. If the landlord believes there is an emergency.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

As long as the stove works, who are they to say it's unacceptable! If they don't like it, they don't need to use it!

And, they shouldn't get any say in who you have help deliver/install anything. It is after all, your property!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes Susan you are right on the two reasons a landlord can enter without notice.

I also agree with Momcat. as long as you are supplying a working stove, they have no choice in the matter, or in who you choose to deliver it.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I spoke to Residential Tenancy, and they agreed that we have every right to have Bob & John in to bring the stove - they can't tell us who to allow into their suite to do repairs, e

spoke t a lwyer, and she gave me a link to an Affidavit so I can file for a hearing.
With Michelle's help, I'll fill it out and could go to court as soon as next Friday....

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Judy .. lovely, and, memorable pictures!
You look wonderful.
Many congrats to Jacob .. I sure hope his profession carries him through life with happiness and satisfaction ..
Does he have a preference as to what culinary avenue he wants to travel down ?
Too exciting :-)

Deb .. I hear ya on Willow .. gosh .. these fur paws across our hearts are deep and unforgettable.
Smokey is having a VERY up day .. eating and drinking and walking about
DH washed his litter box and put in fresh litter .. I washed the floor all around it .. shoot, hope he can find it now LoL

Betty, that basket is just WOW .. if I can find the 'stuff', I may try to make one to hang by the backdoor .. beautiful :-)

Must admit, I do miss hearing from, Mary and Marion and Brenda and Debbie .. everyone really .. .. you wonder if all is well with them .. all ya can is hope if they're lurking, they know we do think about them and wish them well ..

Susan .. no words can express how I feel for you in this situation you find yourself in .. All I can say is, best of luck as I am clueless with regards to how you handle pond scum !

back from my visit with our minister - she says the only way for this to end is for them to leave and we move back to our home again.

trying to get through to the Post Office now - have a ticket # re: fixing their site so I can put in a change of address...... all mail is now being delivered to the Community Mailbox for which I gave them their three keys, by law. (Federal offence if I didn't give them all three keys)
I'll talk to them about our withheld mail for the past month.......

Oh Deb I so understand how you are feeling about Willow. Many of us on this thread have been in the same spot. When we built this house my aim was to get Ana my last Samoyed into our new home. She too was 15 and a severe diabetic. The morning of the move I brought her down the lane to the new house very early in the morning. I spent about an hour down here with her - she romped around, went for a swim in the lake and followed me down to my morning reflection spot about 1/4 mi farther down the lane. She and I sat there and my heart was just bursting with happiness.By 3am the next morning she had crossed the bridge but she made it here. I was happy to read Willow is still interested in eating and treats.

M and Betty how is your weather? Absolutely fabulous fall day here. Was very cold earllier but delightful now.Lots of flies coming in as I have all the screens out to wash. Should have held off for a few weeks but they were filthy. I also have lots of lady bugs in the house too. Rather have them then the flies.

Oh Judy that is 1 handsome son you have there. Your momma buttons must have been bursting. When is the wedding?

M are the wasps taking care of now? I laughed yesterday .... experienced the same scenario here many times over the years.

Time for me to move wash into the dryer and get the boys' dinner set to go.

Later,
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon

Was sewing for a bit then I had a revolving door of people visiting, enjoyed it but now I have to play catch up, have supper then the gals get here at 6:30

Where to start,

Hard to believe Jacob was about 11 -12 when we started chatting, now look at him, a gorgeous looking man..you have a right to be proud..love the photo's..give him a hug for me please!

Deb, sure hope you won't be affected by the downsizing, always a worry. Do you been with them long? Big sigh re Willow, just so hard to know what to do and when..

Susan, shaking my head, I'm with "M", there are no words

"m" I will put battery operated lights vs plugs and use it at special times, hate having cords hanging..won't be long I'll go cut greenery, must do before the snow, did learn my lesson a few years ago

Dianne, glorious day here as well.seems bluejays are out in great numbers today, wonder what the know that I don't?

Katie you sure have your free time taken up with petting of the animals, they do get jealous don't they.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

well, so many people have said that the only resolution that I should look for is to return to our home - lawyers, Residential Tenancy, our minister........
They haven't paid their rent either, and if they don't by tomorrow, I can serve them with an eviction notice, which makes everything else moot. They cannot withhold rent because they don't think I've "installed the stove" correctly either. They'd have to go to Dispute Resolution and get it authorized to do that.

mulege, Mexico

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Susan.

Just got an email from my niece that had me laughing out loud. Her mother was my older sister and her family upbringing was very similar to mine - which is to say, dysfunctional. Her father just visited her and went on and on about how he protected her. She was fuming. You all might not appreciate what I told her that I once said to my mother under similar circumstances but she loved it and now has it in her repertoire.

Slight cooling off at night here.

I'm having to figure out how to feed Inky Dink and protect her food from the other dogs.

hugs, katie

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

How do you know you're a dedicated gardener?
You go outside at 6:30am in your housecoat, with a flashlight, to pick lettuce for your sandwich.

Girls just left, have you ever been in a room that lights up when a person enters? Janice hasn't been in a few months as her back is giving her the what for ..pain city, poor thing..in her early 50's..has a way with her that has you smiling, breaking out in laughter and just wanting to hug her..we had so much fun.,sure have missed her..hope she is well enough to come next week as well.

Katie is there a room that you can put her in when its feeding time so the others can't enter?

Susan, now that is a dedicated gardener.

Guess it's bed time

mulege, Mexico

I put her in a gated room but she came out so I gave the other dogs her food. She isn't starving but she's missing out on the chicken pieces. They are all getting used to each other; I try to interfere as little as possible as long as they aren't fighting. I have a no bloodshed rule.

Its 12:25 a.m. and I am finally able to catch up.

Pretty much lving on the road from Lockport to Rochester and back with DD.
She is going for injections much like LindaKay gets, spinal nerve blocks for
pain in leg and back.

Not sure where we go from here but I am beyond exhausted.

DS got a "minor" injury at work....some rough brush burn and scrapes.
Now is covered in poison ivy from being thru the brush. BUT....he is doing
better.

Tomorrow I get to stay home...only because car is int he garage for both
ball joints replaced in front end.

Have more reading and catching up to do.....

Waving and hugs to all
Debbie

Hey Deb you are going to be 1 exhausted lady. Is there much more running around with Shannon?

Can't sleep ...... I know I have told you before but I will tell you again in my next life I am coming back as a sleeper.

Duke is really antsy tonight. The coyotes are howling away and 1 was just out on the lane.Diesel and Chaos don't seem to be bothered tonight for some reason. I fear from the sounds of it something just met an untimely death.... maybe the coyotes will settle now.

Sharon you had me laughing the other day with your post. I was thinking does that woman think I am a witch flying around on my broom? You tickled my funny bone so thanks for that. How are you doing? What is your time difference to me - 2 hours?

Jean I am listening to Eric Clapton's tribute to JJ Cale. I love this CD.Listened to Son House this afternoon. Haven't for awhile and I was kicking myself ... gotta love his sound. How is your MIL? Hope you are taking good care of you.

I have a friend stopping in for a visit sometime this weekend - she is much like your friend Betty. She fills a room with her laughter. You just have to feel good when she is around.

Have fun in Meaford Betty! Its been a hard row to hoe on the circuit these last couple of years. Some of my friends don't have anything else to fall back on so plod along. I hope OOAK and Ottawa treats them kindly this year. A jeweler who I have known for over 30 years is over 70 and still hitting the shows. He went to school to be a teacher but there were no jobs so he started making flutes then met a girl who was in the jewelry business with her dad and rest is history. Of course he was around back in the days when you literally just stood there and people put money in your hands. Is the chip wagon across from the Hilltop still open? It changed hands a few times but the food was always excellent. Got some Honey Crisp apples from the orchards in Picton but they sure don't taste as good as Grandma Lambe's.

Going to channel my mam and have a cup of tea with a shot of brandy in it - maybe that will help me fall asleep.

See ya all in the morning.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, sorry to hear about both kids..awfully young to be going through so much pain, she won the battle with cancer at a young age but look at the after effects she is battling! Hard on mommy and daddy I'm sure and lots of memories of those difficult times surface I'm sure. We worry about you..Hugs

Dianne, makes for a long night indeed..Missy must have gone out when the girls left last night, looked for her before bed, no Missy..I've been up all night calling to her, looked in every room in case she didn't go out , no Missy..overly worried because of Riley..their are fishers in the area..not good...

Always stop at grandma lambs, not only apples but great bake goods. It's a hard way to make a living, only 2 or 3 of the vendors I see booths with line-ups

Back outside to call Missy..tummy churning
