Bet Lorna was in severe pain yesterday.

Spoke with Darlene, she is waiting to hear if her place has sold

Just finished my break, made muffins, didn't burn them, hurrah for me, yummy, guess who likely will eat them all. Lol
Got my paint out, scrolled grocery list on one door, days of week on the other..that should keep me a little more organized, cupboard door on other side is for contact info

Trying my best to be organized..I'm not fond of notes on refrigerator

Happy Canada Day!!!!!!!!!

Judy - so glad things are agreed-upon with your niece - she doesn't deserve a penny!
yes, Betty - Mike is a "piece of work".
Just waiting to hear back re: moving on the 8th, from the moving company. Went to our new place last night, to take over some kitchen cabinets & countertop.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

We've been having Light Shows of lightning the past couple of days - this morning our clocks were flashing, but at least were on. It's been terribly hot, so some relief from the rain - not much but some.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Happy Canada day to all who celebrate it. In the Detroit area there has for many years been a combined 4th & Canada Day celebration with Windsor called the Freedom Festival with joint activities and a huge fireworks display.

Think we are heading back home early. I'm feeling a bit queasy plus I know the traffic on Fri. will be awful.

mulege, Mexico

Great to see the pictures of the miracle twins. And to know that your relationship with Anne is mending.

We're struggling to get a check cashed so we can pay for the land. Another Mexican thing.

I had two apples Amma blessed and gave me. I gave one to Tony. We need all the blessings we can get to get through this.

I'm holding on. Hot and tired. One foot in front of the other or just stand still and wait for things to pass.

No word from the Supervisor's assistant. Will think more about that when the land is paid for and that is off my mind. Definitely not going to do anything for now. Everyone that I have talked to about this is outraged and I got a very positive response from a man who was in the room when I spoke to the Supervisors.

There are two big issues for me here. First is that while I have always had zero tolerance for physical abuse, I've taken emotional abuse that I still cannot believe - from family, ex-husband, friends male and female and supervisors. I still feel like I'm crawling out from under a garbage heap sometimes. Second, while I have spent much of my working life to change things for children who are abused I've not been very good at standing up for myself.

For both these reasons I am moving carefully on this.

Judy's situation with her niece reminds me of more of my past than I care to remember. It's taken me years to learn to respond clearly to people like her niece. And to accept that many people simply don't/won't listen. Yet the situation with the niece is so simple: a contract has two parts - what you do and what I do. If you don't fulfill your part I have no obligation to fulfill my part. It's the first thing students learn in law school. Many of the parents of children who were in foster care were masters of trying to twist this basic idea around. Sometimes it was like trying to think clearly while in a hurricane of words. It was almost funny to see the frustration of someone who had been doing these kinds of machinations for years as I kept going back to "you didn't keep your word. that is the problem."

hugs, katie

That is interesting Karen, these border communities likely feel they are one and the same with having residents working in both side of the border..sure hope you aren't coming down with something? How many hours drive is it for you to get home? Yep, roads are going to resemble a zoo. Early, does that mean today?

Well Susan, thanks for the sunshine, looks like blue skies for a bit

Darlene called, wanted to know if she does sell and leaves all her plants could she have some hosta's and other garden goodies..yes siree

Had been cutting and planning glass for Linda's windows, she is coming a week Thursday so best I do a bit here and there..hadn't been looking at the clock, took a guess, thought it might be 1:30, looked at the clock, wow was 11:15
Still lots of hours left in the day

Think I'll go play in the gardens for awhile or at least until the skitters get munching

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Katie, sure hope you get the land situation paid for and behind you..read your post carefully and I realize that not all are the same, I like to think when I promise to do something, he'll or high water I do and find it upsetting when others don't...I know life gets in the way but a simple call explaining why their promise can't be fulfilled is all it takes..

Promises, think we in the older generation know the worth of keeping them..it's not that the younger generation don't keep them or want to keep them but they move so quickly now, hardly a second to themselves.

Thought I had ru beer boots but I think I got a cut last year in them and through them away ..will look for my garden runners and go out and play

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well it's 750 miles to home from here. We'll have 3 kids with us plus I have to make frequent bathroom stops. I don't have much hope of making it in one shot. DD did say for us to stop there on the way back for the night. might do so.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is a long way Karen, especially with 3 little ones and only one driver wow
Keep forgetting how far north you are

Drats, went to go do a few groceries atfoodland, car is deader than a door nail, haven't used it since Sunday..I put the trickle charger on it, we will see, if not I'll get someone over to boost me

So I'll look what is in the freezer and make something..did buy chicken cutlets, that would fill the bill

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I can drive, no reason not to except hubby always thinks he has to do it all. At home I drive my self all over.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Guess though with you feeling queasy he'd rather do it while you entertain the little ones..what ages are they?

mulege, Mexico

It is so humid that even with temps in the 90's clothes hung on the line yesterday are still not dry today. Wish I had gills.

I think the situation with Judy's niece reminds me of a very unpleasant encounter I had with one of my nephews. Too painful to talk about but it was bad.

In paying for the land we also finish with tony's most serious mistake with me. When we thought we bought the land we only bought the survey and the cement block walls (partially completed) that were on it. Several years later, after Tony had repeatedly assured me that the land was paid for, we found out it wasn't. Devestating for both of us and I know he was waiting for me to go off on him. I had to accept that it was a mistake. Period. No point in recriminations; they would only have damaged our relationship without changing the situation.

Apparently I'm having a problem with my neighbor Maria. No point talking about it. Either she gets over whatever it is or she doesn't. I'm too hot and tired to care. However, I brought her almost $100 starter cultures for yogurt and keffir to use with goat's milk from Tony's brother and she has not come down to pick them up.

Back to hermit mode.

hugs, katie

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Not too little Betty, 6, 9, 12. They entertain themselves pretty well.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Full day here .. glad it's over with ..
Just the dishes to buzz up, shower to be had, and, BED ..
SO hoping the neighbours across the road and down don't have fireworks tonight .. our 3 dogs just get frantic ..

Katie, is the land paid for now?

Karen .. safe travels with the little ones ..

Waving goodnight ..
I'm done

mulege, Mexico

I think we can pay tomorrow. Say a prayer and keep your fingers crossed. hugs, katie

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Happy Canada Day, everyone - hope it was great.

Katie - praying ever so hard for the settling and paying of your land, tomorrow.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Katie, prayers for you having a successful day tomorrow. I have an appointment with pain management specialist at 10am. I will just let Vern sleep in and get him situated when I get home. He will not complain at all. He loves to sleep in.

Hot and now humid. My garden is frying. My tomato plants are being destroyed by some kind of bug. Making the leaves look like lace. So tomorrow I am going to pick them all and make sauce and also green tomato salsa.

I also need to make some of my mother's sweet relish. I need to get the recipe out so I make sure I have everything I need. You make it out of cucumbers, green and red peppers , onion, apple cider vinegar sugar and turmeric. Original Betty Crocker recipe from early 50s. It is wonderful and so easy to make with the Cuisinart. She had wrote it for me in long hand so it is a very special occasion to make it and my potato or macaroni salad are just not the same without it. I copied extra copies of it and have it in several places in different cook books in the kitchen. I did not want to take the chance of losing it.

You all have a wonderful day tomorrow. Send us some rain. Hugs, Sharon

PS: my daughter got me the appointment with the pain management specialist. He is her neighbor. Pulling in a favor for "good old mom".

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Good morning ...

Best of luck with the pain management doc Sharon .. I know Lorna's worked wonders .. her 'phantom pain'/ 'nerve pain' has really diminishedd with the use of Lyrica.
The relish sounds delish :-) Our tomatoes are nothing more than wee green 'buttons' .. drops down into the low 50s overnight, so, no much growing going on .. by August we'll have a good batch of them .. still and all .. using a family recipe is just so wonderful .. memories :-)

Katie, good luck with your day ..

LindaK.. how's the hip today ?

Shot #2 today .. DH has a funeral to attend .. Lorna is up getting ready for work, and, I am doing 'animal crowd control'. So, I best get at it ..

OH .. no fireworks last night .. YA !!!!!!!!!!!

Waving hello to .. Barb, Sue, Judy, Joyce, Susan, Mary , Marion, Betty, Dianne, Bev, Annette .. so many lovely ladies :-)

Morning all,

No didn't sleep in, did some craft room tidy-up and put another load of dragonflies in the kiln, hoping to get another tonight..almost done

It's a sunshine day, say no rain until Tuesday!

Joyce, Greg dropped in but for a sec last night, he was on his way with a group of friends to blue mountain to see fireworks display, thought to myself 'now that is far to go to see boom bangs'. Then no sooner got into bed when I remember coming home from to remora, taking friends to see some of Georgian bay's best when I thought, it was Joyce,Kathy and Sheri ..was it when on our way home we stopped for a bit to watch..trying to think who else I took.

Glad no fireworks in your region "M" for doggie sake.

Sharon, nothing but nothing makes one feel good as having a handwritten recipe from a loved one, sure brings back mega memories. Helps to know someone who knows someone in the health system, let's hope you can get some relief..do they give meds with pain management or suggest different avenues of excercise both physical and mentally.

Katie, hope today is the day for land purchase and that Maria drops in

Karen that is a good travelling age but if I remember correctly with mine it was a time of testing each other's patience..wondering if you left early this am. Safe travels

"m" how is Lorna's arm?

Going to wait till it warms up and dries up a bit so I can get out in the gardens for a bit

Anything special planned?

Glenview, IL

Good Morning
Wow was such a "hard" day on the job, lol. Not really, My only chore was to hang crystals on a 4 tiered chandelier. Steve was telling me how difficult it was for him as his hands are just too big. So I offered to go with and hang them for lunch. Earlier in the week Jake told me this was his last week on the job! This worked out great timing wise, also Steve's last week downtown for a while. Jake was nicely surprised and even made our lunch. He took a few minutes as a break and came and introduced us to his Chef. It was also nice as the owner told us what a nice boy he is. The rest of the day was running around...I was exhausted by the end of the day. We did just about everything on his list.

Linda Kay, I sure hope your pains are subsiding. Got a funny story for you all.
As you know I went to the doc for a follow up, we changed my prescription to the new meds she gave me. It seems to be helping my foot nerves very well, no more tingle/burn. Well I do still have pain issues so she told me I could take tylonol to help it. I said geese, I just hate taking pills "can't you just prescribe marijuana for me..." Hands o the hips, I took her heavy laughter as a no, sigh. hahahah. Oh gosh, my face is still very sore to the touch, so I've been Magooing around because the weight of my glasses hurt. But the skid mark is gone and the scars are very small and healing, My hand also still hurts too, but I am ok and dealing with it!

Sounds like you all had a nice Canada Day.

Awe, M was glad to see the graduation went well, Awe, of course you should tear up...I know I will when Jake graduates in Sept. How is Lorna after her fall? I hope not too terribly sore.

Sharon, Hope you do get some rain...Hope your appointment is successful.
your mom's relish sound tasty!

Safe travels to you Karen. I bet you'll be glad to get home before the holiday rush...
whew, we stay home for the 4th.

Thunder, were going to the Track again this year, lol not sure about the kids.
I hope your having a wonderful camping trip with Melena.

Katie, sure hope all turns out well...it will be a nice burden off your shoulders.
fingers are crossed!

Moonbeam, how are you doing? Sure hope your taking time to yourself and taking care of you. So sending you big Armwraps to do all that you do.

Debbie, Sending you tight armwraps too, I really missed you at the gathering. But I hope whatever is going on settles down. Just know, I/We all love you!

LOL, today is Jude Day! Beside laundry I plan on being on this computer all day!
of course I have lots of pictures to share of my very FUN summer...So if you don't mind I'm going to back track and start from the beginning.
Since it's early I will wait for the big computer so I can see the picture in which to post.
LOL, and I'll be thread jumping today, thank goodness there is just a few, threads I mean.lol

OK I got to go to see where my RWB package is...Buddy should get it today.

Enjoy the day, hope it's a good one for all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How come it's Jake's last day at the restaurant, was he in career placement?
Glad he cooked for you and how nice of the owner to say what a nice boy Jake is, always makes us feel proud..er when we hear such things of our kids.

Laughing at your doctor story, wonder what constitutes them to write a prescription for marjuana?

Your face did look sore, yikes you have to stop taking these acrobatic moves. Lol

Looking forward to your photo's and stories that go with them.

Still without a car..need new battery, will call Greg and get him to pick one up for me

Not going anywhere but would like to know if I did I could.

Weekend is coming, need to drop off at the stained glass studio and invited to the lake for fish fry Saturday aft so got to get moving on this battery..can't for the life of me know what I could have left on

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We are on our way. Kids are well seasoned travelers. Have books and electronics to keep them occupied. Rain is a bit heavy. Let's see how far we get.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Safe travels Karen

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Enjoy the trip, Karen!

Judy - my son keeps telling me I should be taking marijuana, and so is one of my US friends! Good grief - I sure don't want to end up like my basement neighbour, OR a fella we know in Winnipeg who takes it for "back pain". They both have their brains messed up..........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. I am back in San Antonio for a follow up. I sure hope he has something for this pain. My hip does not like sitting in the car for 3 hours.

Glenview, IL

Oh man I sure hope you get some kind of relief Linda Kay.
The only good thing about it is you get see grand kids... Will you stay through the 4th?

Betty, Jake was on his internship. He has a really cool and serious ambition and already working on it.
He is right on target for his plans. He told me the other day, He would like to have a traveling breakfast kitchen! He could probably make some serious money at all his travels and no one else seems to be offering breakfast, so we'll see and I do pray it works out.
lol, she (Doc) was having a really bad day, it seemed to give her a laugh...
I'm not sure what it prescribed for.

OK...So way back in the beginning of Summer, My little girl turned 21!! We took her out for dinner and invited a few of her friends, we had a nice little celebration. She is still wooking at Goodwil, as is Julia. Breenie also wheel-less so we've been sharing my car.

In the garden, As you know I have been watching and waiting for my rose to change colors.
Oh my gosh to my delight, this year they are blooming with swirl of white and the best ones appear to be very pink...Already anticipating the next season!

Oh by the Way, Marilyn...Wow your/grandmother's Peonie are breathtaking! Love the color.
and Betty, i sure loved reading about your Twin girl neighbors coming to your secret garden for lunch, how adorable.

Beautiful roses Judy.

I will be back home Saturday morning.

Glenview, IL

As you know My Petrie flew away. I never did voice how I felt about it. But I did tell Both Liz and Sunshine. I felt better, but it all still hurts and i miss my P. Flowie misses him too but loving all the extra attention.

In between the running and cleaning at both houses i've enjoyed just resting and watching my changes to the yard...I love to watch all the activity since adding the pond. Jake and Emily are really taking to working back there, sigh in between all their running and working, lol now they understand how much work it takes and they get help from their friends! But it's slowly coming along.
For my work, it at a halt and ll this rain is not helping...Just strange how the weather has been.

Thank You Linda Kay!
Well be careful everyone who will be traveling. know you'll enjoy the show from your back yard, best seat around!
I asked Steve for some work so i had some spending money. So did some bills...Paced and cleaned some more as i waited for Liz!

Also, I went to the Powwow. I can't remember if I showed you pictures, will go back and see, or someone can remind me.

Finally Liz arrived!! Yep what a great week. All kinds of crazy was happening but we went through all the plans we had and had a fabulous time.

LOL I was already panicking about having to pick up. Crazy # 1. Steve was suppose to go to Wisconsin, It was the beginning of the Very heavy rain, so he Ended up driving, whew.

I danced about that and Liz danced about the rain. I had to smile, Liz took video of the rain and shared it with Kenny. We hung out at the house and Relaxed...Liz forgot to tell I did brave it up and drove to and from Cracker Barrel! When we got into the general area I stopped and checked my GPS system, it's timeless and works like a charm every time...Big cheezie grin, a knowledgeable person in the parking lot, lol We enjoyed shopping and breakfast. By the time we got back it was time to rush off to the ball game.

Yikes, crazy# 2, Tickets forgotten in van, was late and missed seeing the Stanly cup! We had a blast anyway!
That was the same day we went to the Ball game.

Yep, Flowie, the little trouble maker. I feel so bad she was biting you. Bad bird, I am glad you had some fun time with her too, yep must been that sip of beer, lol.

We decided to to the downtown time on Monday. Rain or shine...So we watched the parade on TV...Everyone had to work. Thank goodness as i couldn't deal with that crowd either...Liz was very tired and didn't mind Steve and i went to watch the game with some friends. it was good intentions for her to rest...lol she did for a short time and Jake and friends came home to watch. But yep it was so much fun. The Stanly cup pic is from the game on replay...

We spent a lot of time sitting on the deck, blabbing relaxing and watching my our wildlife.
Lol, wished i would have made a check list. I do believe she saw it all, including the fox, lol if she didn't see it here she saw it in Wisconsin. I just love to watch Liz's delight...Among the visitors my little hummer LK and the deer that scared us inside, lol. Well it was dark but i am sure it was this one.

So enjoying your time with kids and Liz
Lordy those deer are brazen..I remember when I was there, in such a built up community sitting feasting on the shrubs.

Glenview, IL

We packed for the weekend. Jake and Richard were in his younger sister Quicente? so he didn't go.
But Julia and Sabrina and Jayson came and we all enjoyed Fathers Day and Liz Birthday up at the Cottage.
We had brisk but beautiful weather.

Thumbnail by Seedtosser1 Thumbnail by Seedtosser1
Glenview, IL

These are pics i wanted add, but system wouldn't let me.

While Steve, Breenie and Jayson launched the boat, Liz taught Julia and i how to basic knit!
LOL, Since I didn't have needles Liz fashion a pair needle from chop sticks! We stopped at walmart for food so she and I "snuck" over to craft section and got yarn, and more needles and crochet hooks.
So this is the the very first thing I practiced with. The lastr one is what i am working onthe one in the top left.
I ripped it out once, now it 14 inches long. I may just go for more of the same yarn to make a long scarf.

I hope everyone has safe travels that is heading out on the roads this weekend.

I'm heading to Indianapolis tomorrow morning to drop off Annie, the dog I've been fostering. She is going to a new home in Kentucky. There's a woman in Indy who will drive her on to her final destination.
