mulege, Mexico

I'm here. Lurking more than posting.

Got the naked lady bulbs. Will see if they can take the heat. Put them several places with varying amounts of shade and heat.

We got the dish adjusted. Watching CNN and wondering if I should mess it up again.

Getting small amounts of work done in the house and garden, mostly early in the day. This is our survival weather.

Making and changing plans for progress on the house now that it's paid for.

Moving lots of aloe plants which I like for many reasons. First, they grow for me with little care. They are not as dangerous as cactus and agave - thought the leaves can have serrated edges. They bloom in the spring and the hummingbirds and the neighbors like them And, maybe best, they are dog-proof. I have glass stuff to make glass garden flowers and I think they will do well in aloe patches. Any day now!!

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds as though Katie you are being very creative with glass flowers
Rarely watch the news, just too darn depressing
Bet the furies are enjoying your being home just as much as you are

"m" you sure do take care of alorna..she is blessed to have you

I got the two gate windows done, need a set of hinges and handle so each side matches

Tomorrow I will fire the stems of the 3rd glass, likely just set it on front deck, propped against railings..the greenery and I will cut flowers and make a mini butterfly to set next to it

Looks a bit bling you but has to be for it to show up as entrance

Greg is bringing over the wheel barrel, am hoping to set in posts as it may rain tomorrow

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi - I'm back........
Love the reference to the chocolate covered hook........ Mike threw out another one
On Sunday afternoon he CUT our coax cable for our internet/phone/tv
We called the police, and he shouted out in glee "I'm going to get arresssssted!!!" Like it was funny...
Police advised us to go somewhere safe, and Grace said to get over to their place now... police agreed, so here's where we are, and slept last night. Just got wifi from Grace, and found a confirmation request from the movers, for packing tomorrow. They said they tried to reach me by phone and couldn't........ they had my cell #, just didn't call it, obviously. Anyway, I replied to their email, about 7 hours later..... hope it's a "go".

Anyway, Bob took rest of day off today, from noon, and now I'm going to order something to eat - don't have a usable can opener.......

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Wow Susan, that Mike really is crazy. What a tortured soul. What is he going to do when he no longer has you and Bob to pick on. Once you start looking for chocolate covered hooks, you will recognize them easily.

Everyone on here should be looking for them and you will be surprised who is throwing them at you when you get to recognize them.

Marilyn, so glad you had such s good time for Gord's BD.

Katie, now you can sit back and dream about what you are going to do with YOUR property.

Linda, so hop your pain is better.

Barb, I am with you. Humidity is not my favorite thing but we usually do not have much to deal with.

We had a down pour and a weather alert for severe thunderstorm. My cell phone warning went off and got my attention real quick. The dogs and I had just started our walk. So we just went on because I could hear the rumbling in the far distance but nothing close by. We had a 30 minute walk and barely made it back into the garage before it let loose. Made it by the skin of our teeth.

Betty your windows/entrance will be beautiful.

I cooked some more fresh tomatoes on a very low heat today until they caramelized. I had added garlic, fresh basil, a dash of salt and sugar. Oh my goodness was it good. I ate it over some cold angel hair.

My MRI is Thursday morning. Pain at night is much better with the anti inflammatory drugs doctor prescribed. And day pain is dwindling daily.

Betty, so glad you are feeling better. I am so glad you saved me some of that tart. It will be delicious with my tea in the morning.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Tuesday is upon us, and, I hope ot's a great day for everyone ..

Susan .. it's just so very hard to understand, how a 'bad child', can get away with being as such .. blows my mind ..

Barb .. humidity is the 'bug a boo' here too .. get a lovely sunny day, walk outside, and, POOF, thick air, and, right now, the air quality is ultra poor due to the forest files in the west.

our Can Tire stores here, just had a sale on Wheel barrows Betty ... I almost went and picked up a 3 wheeled one .. but, didn't ..

Not sure what's up today ..

Take care all

Oh Susan, I can't help but post that I am praying everything goes well today and that you are able to get all your possessions out of that house without any further incidents!

I don't understand why Mikes boss wouldn't have this character evicted, what with all the drama he has created. He is setting the owner up for a big lawsuit from any future tenants!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

Glad to hear your pain is better Sharon.

Mine is too after my chiropractor visit. He told me to come back whenever I need to.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone

Weather, hmm think we will have a bit of everything today..nope,

"m" Greg didn't drop off wheelbarrow, tempted to call timbr mart and order one..he's likely thinking 'not a big deal' and I'm thinking 'I want to finish this project now'..might check Canadian tire flyer as well..how did the cemetery flower beds fare after that storm?

Great news Lindakay re pain, now that you are feeling better what will you get into?

Susan, good luck on the move today..hope it's your last for a long long time...you haven't mentioned your friend Susan of late, how are things going with her.

Terri, how are things going for you?

Sharon, wonderful you are dealing with less pain..caramel iced tomatoes, don't think I've ever had them..other than slow cooking what would you add to them?

Girls come this a.m so best I have my coffee and slice of lemon cake

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I was told to take it easy for a few days. I am just going to weed the roses and be good.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

as Bob puts it, his boss is a jerk, and Ker isn't talking to Bob even at work lol Just the standard work-related answers, so Bob's happy with that.
I'd never heard of chocolate covered hooks before. Interesting concept.
Tonight we'll call the police to be with us when we take the washer & dryer away. If Mike has clothes in them, they can be put in bags for him.........
Whatever Mike & Ker have, for problems, is up to the two of them. Grace has asked that we NOT tell Ker where we're moving to - they've had business dealings in the past. It would be funny to see his face, but no, it's none of his business anyway.
Today I go to the place to oversee the packing, then approx 4:30 Marcel will come by to help with electrical, then hopefully sometime Sam will come by to install our internet, etc I'm looking forward to having a desk & full computer again - I'm on Bob's laptop on our freezer in the middle of the living room at the moment lol no tables, etc.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh My you mean Ker has not so savory a reputation with others? Surprise, surprise. Too bad you didn't know this before. Hoping all is smooth sailing here on out Susan.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Waiting for the tow truck. Car didn't want to start this morning, wouldn't even turn over. Went out for one last try before I called my mechanic, and it started right away, but loud tick-tick tick from the engine. I held the phone up for him to hear, he said don't drive it! Boss is not thrilled with me not making it in. Said I should have called a co-worker who lives nearby. Project he needs I did a while ago, just hope I saved it on my computer.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like a rod is about to go in your car. Better be safe and have a mechanic look at it.

Betty, did you get the battery issue fixed with your car? Did you check the battery cables?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Driver of the tow truck said it sounded like a rod or a lifter, one could be fixed, the other not. I hate the idea of having a car payment again. Still waiting to hear from the mechanic, but planning on the worst!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

How long has it been making that noise?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

It was fine yesterday. When I went out to leave for work it turned over like it was starting then a clunk and everything stopped. I sat there for a few minutes thinking "oh crap" tried to start it again, and it wouldn't even turn over. Came inside to wait for my mechanic to open, thought I'd go try again before I called him and it started right up, but with this noise, like a baseball card in the spokes of a bike. Still waiting to hear.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

He said I could drive it for a bit, that I couldn't make it any worse, but I don't want to get stuck somewhere. He has a guy that can put in an engine for $1200 complete, so we're going that route. Body is still in great shape, Ford put in new structural stuff in the front and rear axel a couple years ago from a recall, and just had it in the shop for plugs and wires last month, and everything else checked out fine. They couldn't find anything else to fix! For $1200 I know what I've got, and won't have big car payments. If this lasts another couple of years, then it's worth it to me. This last engine was put in almost 3 years ago, and has been fine up until this morning.

Edited to say, he said it threw a rod or a bearing.

mulege, Mexico

Love the idea of Mike and Ker having each other while Susan and Bob can just say, sadly, so sad things didn't work out with us while privately laughing their butts off.

hope the car problem is minor. I need to get some electrical work done on mine. I was driving in the early evening on my way home, to get to my friend Jose's place (driving at night in Mexico is not recommended), Two policemen stopped me as my tail lights weren't working. I told them I was headed to a friend's but could camp overnight. they said that wouldn't be safe. My safety blinkers worked; they said just leave those on and keep going. Very nice policemen.

Not much happening here. OK by me.

hugs, katie

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

electrical stuff on cars can be tricky sometimes. Glad you were able to get on your way safely, Katie. I've got a rental car for the rest of the week. I just need to remember that. I walked into the kitchen and glanced out the window and panicked for a minute. There's a strange car in my driveway, who could it be, the house isn't clean enough for company! Then it dawned on me, dummy, it's the rental car!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Just make sure you remember that when you park it at work or the store.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yikes that is big bucks Deb but as you only 6 or so car payments and seeing the work you've put into it the past few years she'll be as good as new. Car rentals are a lot cheaper your side of the border thankfully! Laughing at thinking I'd do something like that re seeing strange vehicle in the yard.. When mine was being repaired several times I parked it and didn't remember what the rental was and what color..didn't pay attention.

Katie, was nice of the officer to let you off..would you had really parked it until daylight..brave woman indeed.

Lindakay, got it charged and haven't had any problems..after I paid someone didn't Darlene remind me I had a big charger and not the small lawnmower charger...oh well lol that counts is minimal $$ to get mobile

Poured rain all day, June's husband was over to bring something to June and we talked about my project, he went home and cut support strips for me and added them to the windows for mounting, then he brought a tool meant for levelling posts , we did that but can't cement until rain starts..good think is the minute the cement is done and cured 24hrs I can mount the windows.

I did quilt a small throw today, if I get another hurst of energy I might just do the binding

Got the gals coming tomorrow to go over our trip, still thinking Suzanne won't be able to go but until she says so after dr's appt on the 16th will just have to take is as though she will

Susan, you all moved in?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Been raining off and on all day, and the skeeters are out in full force. Geesh, can't even get 5 steps out the door and they attack!

Glenview, IL

Hi..Whew its been hectic here, trying to get back in gear, lol.

But today it such a beautiful day, a little chilly. Actually a great day to work outside.

Betty, Oh the entry gates are so pretty! where do you plan on putting them...
yikes I hope Greg makes it over with the wheelbarrow.
...omg, I meant to tell you, how cute you let the girls place your garden art around. My mom did with all her grand kids.

Susan, sure glad you will be out and away from that place and those people, wow I dunno how people could be like that. Smart move with having the police escort you to get your wash/dryer...

Oh no Deb, sorry to hear about your car. Sure glad it was ok for your trip to Indy. Nice to have a bit of a break on a engine install...I hope it gets fixed quickly.

Linda Kay, glad your being good, you sure don't want overdo things. ...Finally put a fence around my Roses, tire of the deer eating them.

M, I hope you day went well...nice to get a new throne, lol. I am sure Lorna will be happy.
You are so sweet to think of her comfort, not to mention safety.

Katie, Hope the Naked Lady bulbs take for you. So nice to make/change plans knowing it's for you! I hope you have fun in the process.

I been just cleaning , again...2 cages, this time I took 'em outside and hosed them down.
then, played pick up and put away yard stuff, debris, shifted firewood. Did some weeding.
Had a nice fire the other night, I didn't enjoy it like usual, I guess too much on my mind.
on the inside, what else, lol normal cleaning and of course laundry!

Oh, thanks for luck on the betting! We didn't win, but had fun with what we wagered. Spent 20 lost 5. Had loads of fun and the fireworks were spectacular!

Betty, did you enjoy the afternoon, what's everyone working on?

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

Betty, things are not going too badly, except I am down 2 people out of 4 today, including gmyself. One person left at the middle of last month and no replacement in sight, the other was out sick today. I was able to get someone from another group to sort of help out but she has to kepp calling me for help and questions so I've been working til 9-10 o'clock some nights.

On the other hand, the person that is helping is very close with my boss and she was very impressed with the rapidity of the answers I was giving to her questions today and still keeping my head above water! Not that it means anything, I am already in a managerial position and I told my boss years ago I never wanted to manage people again. But, the money is excellent especially for working from home and I am able to get a lot of things done by hiring workmen that I would have had to pile on my DH who has a list a mile ling already!

Our latest endeavor is to have a honey shed built. We have Amish here and their prices are fabulous, we are getting a shed 14' x 28' long, with a wall to separate the shed into 2 rooms, a regular door, a garage door, 3 windows and a 14' workbench for only USD8500, which I think it very good. Processing honey is so messy, and there is so much that goes with keeping bees that I would rather have a place to keep all. We tried doing it in the garage but there wasn't enough room and in the house, well lets just say it takes a lot of washing to clean up after me when I've processed honey!
I don't know if we will have any extra honey to sell this year but I am trying my best to keep my hives healthy enough to see them through to next year and recoup some of my outlays for the equipment (not the shed).
We have 5 hives so far, last year we had six and lost 4, so I had to purchase one hive of bees and I split the other 2 that were left from 2014 into 2 more which are doing very well.

oops, sorry I wrote so much, I just get carried away sometimes. I usually lurk because I have nothing to say but start me up and I go off like a printer!
have a good evening all, I'm going back to work after a duinner of Lumpia and eggrolls.
Terri

Victoria Harbour, ON

I've enjoyed your chatter..
So much work for you both Terri, you have to love it because it certainly isn't for the $$$
That is indeed a good price for the unit you are building, that is some size..even though large bet it doesn't take you long to have it filled lol. When do they start construction?
Those are long hours you are putting in, best you don't burn out..management positions aren't what people make them out to be, rather have a job you work your shift then go home

Judy you are a busy lady, always cleaning
When do you and Steve go on your cruise
That is about all I spend gambling,,when in Atlantic city I will take $20 ans splurge just to say I did but that's about it

The windows will make an entrance in the back garden where the patio and big frame is

Sewing and painting filled the day, more a gabbing session

Girls are coming over tomorrow to discuss the trip..I usually print out an itenary but don't have a printer, guess I will email it to them one we've reviewed it
Booked passage from Hyannis to Nantucket this afternoon, that is the last of the pre booking I can do, girls are counting sleeps

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Judy, do you ever slow down?

Sounds like you stay busy too Terri.

Betty, I sure hope all the girls can go on your trip.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

wow - a rod in the car isn't cheap.... glad it didn't go on you while you were driving, that would have been dangerous

Terri - a honey shed? I've never heard of one before, but wow - fresh honey, how "sweet" lol

Betty & LK - you're fine ones to talk to Judy about always being busy LOL
you two wear me out!!!

yes, Katie - so sadly laughing out butts off LOL

Judy - it takes all kinds, we just happened to run into TWO of them at once.... "chocolate hook" Ker, and Bi-polar Mike.... wow - what a scary and wild ride that was!

Hooray, we're free, we're free! Stuff is packed, and tomorrow at 9am the movers bring our stuff to the new place - Bob will have to go and get all the loose stuff, BUT, he brought the washer & dryer here, without calling the police, because they said we might have had to wait hours outside the house for them to come if they were busy.
Tomorrow I also have to go at 5pm to be there for the security company to take out the security system to install on Friday. Because we moved so soon after the other move, it is going to cost us $250, but if we cancelled the service altogether, it would cost us the balance of the 5 year contract - about $2400.00!! They asked if the landlord would pay the $250, because it was his tenant that caused the quick move to begin with........ I told them, "not a chance of it" cuz I know that Ker would pay $$ towards any of our move.

Katie -

Comp died, it's so old they don't make parts for it anymore lol
Borrowing an iPad, will be Mia for awhile.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, can we get a new thread please?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Mike just flipped the breaker on our security system (I got an email letting me know) - I'm on the phone with ADT right now, and Bob's on his way to meet the police at the old address............

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Is he on drugs or something, or just that mean?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

he's on drugs AND that mean..........

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh don't you just wish you could be a fly on the wall when he and Ker tangle. And they will. Let's see how long it takes for Ker to figure out he lost the wrong tenants. As I said before....they so deserve each other.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Ker told Bob today that he's afraid that Mike will take off on him, not paying rent

Bob's at the house, so are the police (talking to Mike, apparently) and the power's been restored. I KNOW that ADT can charge Mike for tampering with another person's security system. Whether they will or not, I don't know....
I'm supposed to be there at 9am for the moving van........
Bob says he'll be there at 5pm when ADT comes to disconnect the alarm system. I sure don't want to be there at either time, but at least I'll have the movers with me in the morning, and Bob & the ADT tech at 5pm.........
