not sure why all of a sudden photo's taken on ipad open upside down??? any answers
What I was most impressed with was the costumes, the set and the dancing, wow, one young man mastered a modern ballet piece.

Karen what a keepsake, you can see your daughter wanted to keep these keepsakes, perhaps a grandaughter can wear it at her wedding..beautiful work.

We missed Braedon, he was in a concert playing several instruments, gave Jeff the whatfor for not letting us know.

Bagpipes are awesome..difficult to play I'm sure

"M" that is some wash..have to get the boys to put up my clothesline, miss it
when is Gord expecting a date for his operation, will he have both done at once?

Katie, prayers coming your way that someone who can proceed with helping you is at least listening..sure hope all goes well

bought a quilt tutorial on Discovering Diamonds..info given just in preparing/using strips is fantastic
promised myself I'll purchase 1 a month and get the project shown done..think I can do it!

although sunny it's still cold outside

want to get lots done today and yet I don't want to do anything
wondering which will win out
girls coming to sew tonight, always nice to see them enjoy 'creating'

Good Morning...
Yesterday was just fun! It was Steve's birthday. While he is feeling some-what better, he is still having some pain. Went to work and can do light lifting. Last night on the way to dinner we saw the fox! He was telling me that's why the skunks are gone. lol, I'll take the fox any day over skunks. It is beautiful tho.
Ok so while he was at work, I proceeded with the normal cleaning. Did a clean sweep on 2 cages including washing all their toys and muffs and blankets. Got a call half way through.
" What are you doing? oh well want to come dress shopping?" On a whim the girls went to our favorite fancy dress place. It's called Gigi's closet. We got Breenie's prom dress there, anyway it was great fun to play bridal dress up. Julia tried on about 15 dresses, She chose one! So went the rest of my spending money. The dress she chose fits her like it was made for her alone. lol, it was hanging in the window, she tried it on at about dress # 10, tried the others and the one she chose, was the one from the window. So we needed to put down 60% which turned out to be 240. I had just counted my cash in the morning, guess what that's exactly what I had so the girls went back to the store and paid. Well the dress was marked way down to 400.00, they told the girls it had to be paid in full. Yay for Sabrina who demanded since we were told it was a 60% down that we be able to make payments, several times. The sales women was there and Breenie confronted her so they finally let us have it with payments...Woohoo, so the wedding plans are well under way. We have the venue, the caterer and now her dress!
Today finishing up Petries cage, laundry and packing. Going to house for the weekend, Think Julia and David are coming as well...Not much else...Oh and I have a new Doc appt. today at 3, so will work outside in between.

Katie, so glad the meetings went well. Also, so nice to see your playing in Michaels gardens.

Oh, Betty, how nice for Caleb. I love the photo!

oop, got to switch laundry, enjoy the day everyone.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Bagpipes - Bob got a chanter once, but then never did anything with it, so...... no bagpipes to go with it lol
Glad that Austin is getting better - never good to hear a cat yowling lol

Caleb as Gadsby - how awesome is that? Nice that you got to see his performance. No, you never really get to see all the grands are "about" until you see them doing what they love best and are passionate about - like acting.

I'm taking things down off of high cupboards and the fridge top, just below. Shows when the last time I looked in those cupboards! Forgotten that I had some of those things & recipe books LOL
btw - did I mention that I have my own sewing room in the new place? Well, I do - about 12' square, give or take - and a closet. LOVE IT!!!! It's the only closet btw, that's not a mirror, and I love that even more lol
Another "bedroom" is getting transferred into a computer room/den - I'm very happy with the division of the two things. Now, when I'm on the computer, I can knit or embroider. And then I'll need to go to my OWN room to do any sewing. Guess I'll be able to concentrate lol Maybe I'll take a laptop into my sewing room :-)

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

wow Judy - you have a girl after my own heart - Sabrina. She stood up to the salesperson and got what she needed! You really ARE on the way to having the wedding planned!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I made 3 wedding gowns using that same pattern and you'd never guess from the pictures it was the same one. Becky wanted the pleated panel, full sleeves and very long cuffs. She also wanted all the buttons to really work so there were 128 buttons with the sleeves and down the back. She was a beautiful bride and her dress was cleaned and safely packed way, but styles have changed so much I doubt it will get worn again. Unless she does like her sister and puts it on at an anniversary party.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well my DGS is now in Kuwait. We've sent him one pkg. already with Gpa's jerky and his favorite chocolate mix.
Photo of him, his lovely wife & daughter was taken at base just before he left.

Karen - that is an AWESOMELY beautiful dress! How lucky your daughter is, to have such a talented mom :-)
And that SMILE on your DGGD - I love it! We should all smile like that, for pictures :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

what a beautiful family Karen, think today must be family day, we are such lucky individuals to have them in our lives

Judy, belated happy birthday to Steve...omg you are getting closer to that big day..how much fun is that, getting the wedding dress, time flies, before you know it they'll be saying 'I do'

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I am here and i am sitting on my back patio area watching it rain. Last week we were in the mid 90s and today won't get any higher than 68 degrees. But my tomatoes love the cool down. If I can keep the roof rats out of my tomatoes, I should have a great crop.

The reason I have been lurking and not posting much on DG is because of withdrawal from Effexor XR. Been on 225 mg for over 10 years and the doctor prescribing it had no idea why I was on it or when I went on it. And my insurance was giving me a hard time about it. So I read up on weaning yourself and then talked to my son, the Internist who lives in Spokane and then talked to my cardiologist. Damn medicine probably is the reason I needed a cardiologist in the first place. Piece of cake. NOT. I read how to wean yourself but I did not read the side effects from withdrawal until about the 4th week.

I had been to the physical therapist for terrible leg pin and some neck pain for several weeks. I ran into a neighbor who has had experience with helping individuals withdraw from illegal drugs. She is the one that told me the leg cramps and muscle spasms were one the first of many side effects and to get ready. And that was when I went from 225 mg to 150mg. Well the ride was not a pleasant one but the worst is over. I think the worst was the nauseousness when I finally went totally off. Saltine crackers and butter were my best friend.

I took Effexor XR for depression. I became depressed when I was thinking about retiring and would no longer be "Sharon The Great". It is also used for pain, pre and postmenopausal symptoms.

It also keeps your thought to yourself and with that pill gone, my DH of 42years+ was in a total shock, I am getting the hell of her way mode for several days. That was at the very end. And also at the very end was any noise sounding like a bomb going off. I 3ven swore a the dogs and I ever swear.

But I am back. Now all I need to do is lose the 5 pounds I gained eating nothing but saltine and butter for over a week.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Anyway, I started this journey end of December and I am so glad in May I can say Goodby to Effexor XR. I think it will take a few more days to convince my DH his sweet loving wife is back. But he also learned a few thing and one is he does nothing and I do everything and if I am not functioning, nothing gets done. I heard him tell his daughter that the other evening on the telephone.

Betty, I am so relieved you are only banged up from your car wreck. Have you gotten to the doctor yet. How is Sharon? When I had my heart problems about 5 years ago and went to the hospital by ambulance, all of our neighbors were shocked. They expected to see Vern in the ambulance, not me. My heart is back to normal but doctors really do not know what happened but something attacked my heart. Fortunately for me, my heart healed itself but it took 3 years and very low sodium. Usually does not happen that way.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Katie, I am so proud of you and also envy you on your gardening task in San Francisco. Beautiful weather to garden in and I hope you have assistance on getting all of the debris hauled out.

I have always told individuals, beware of the silent, quiet person that is complaining. The screamers just scream, the quiet ones will kill you.

Weddings are in the air. Our first grandchild to get married will be married the weekend of October 10th. She just graduated from college, has a great job from where she interned for two years and her husband to be has one more year of college and then dental school.

I am just so glad you have all made it through all of your trials and tribulations since the end of 2014. AND, then there is the weather. I look forward to checking in with you guys every evening. I usually do not even get on my i pad or laptop until after 4pm. I find if I get on I do not get off.

Our Spring was early, then turned hot so I am currently upgrading my garden to summer plants. I do have many plants that stay in the garden year round. I have many in pots and a large holding bed so I can move them in and out of view. And I use Resin pots so they are easier to move. I do the majority of my garden cleaning on Mondays because my landscape crew comes on Tuesday and they clean up the piles I rake up. You all know gardening is fun and he hard work is cleaning up the mess you leave behind, I also greet them with a big Magma Carmel Ice Cream bar when they are done. But I am the liaison from the HOA board with this company and I treat them right, and they know and appreciate it. And, hehehehe, they know I can outwork them even at 72 soon to be 73 years old.

DH is still slowing but we do have a system that seems to be working. Laughter is keeping us both alive and a sense of humor does wonders.

They are having a highschool soft ball tournament today and Vern loves girls softball and we are going to one of the games at 3pm if the weather clears up.

mulege, Mexico

Glad to have you back, Sharon. You have been missed.

Michael came in this morning and said he had to go to LA. His father was sick, was getting better, but is worse now and Michael's mother is not well enough to take care of him. Both parents are in their 90's. So we went to the airport and now I'm in sole possession of his house. He thinks he'll be back in a week but it depends on how the parents are doing. My being here works out for both of us.

I had a bad night. Lots of pain and very little sleep. This, too, shall pass. While my mind is happy about retirement developments my body is having a hard time. I took my limit of pain killers yesterday, not something that often happens. I may just get a quilt and lie on the couch with the TV remote in hand. Not even up to reading. Lack of sleep gets to me but I don't have anything I have to do except take care of myself and the house so I'll go lie down.

hugs, katie

Yes, Katie - get warm, and get some sleep - sleep heals.

Sharon - beautiful pictures! I'd only seen a magnolia tree once, when I was in GA, and am awed by the beauty - I too would love to be able to follow a nature photographer around. I'll look at his FB site. I take a lot of flora pictures and am in awe of God's beauty all around us - from the largest to smallest, from the blooming to the leafed. Splendour all around us, all 4 seasons.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy, talk about a gorgeous day!!

Sharon, how wonderful to see you post, missed you! Sorry to hear about how difficult it's been getting off Effexor, think when they give us meds to help we don't often consider all it can do to us..it takes away the pain so that's a plus, but then.....sad

But, you are on the mend now and that's fantastic..got to take it a day at a time so they say.
Absolutely love the photo's you posted, favorite is the first one you posted, how I'd love to paint that one! Then the last photo, gardens are spectacular..what a joy to walk out and just take in all the beauty.

Katie, maybe we should all just lay with a quilt and nap..prayers for Michael's parents
I'm sure he is thrilled to have someone look after his place that he can trust.

LindaKay, how are you feeling? Did you get my envelope yet?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sharon - sorry you've been having withdrawals. It makes me even more cautious about the new narcotic I'm on. Right now, for the first time ever, I'm feeling no pain, so for me this is a good thing for now. I only have enough to see me through this move, and it's the first day of "No Pain".
I really would be stressing my knees into a "crisis" situation, as my Dr said, during this move.

It's raining off and on today, so I'm staying inside packing and cleaning.
We'll see if it stops so we can take stuff over to the new place tonight.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Susan you have me worried. I think you are over doing. I know you are excited about the move and have tons to do BUT. The medication is keeping you pain free and and that worries me as you could be doing serious damage and not feeling it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yes, I got your package Betty. It came 2 days ago and I forgot to mention it. So sorry.
I am in san Antonio for my hip injection, and i got rescheduled again. I told the office manager to the Dr. that I don't appreciate driving 2 weeks in a row to be told so sorry, come back next week. I have spent almost $300.00 in gas and all for nothing.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Karen - you say I have you worried - should the medication Not be making me free of pain?
I am very very very cautious - worried about falling, straining, etc. This has become a way of life for me, for 5 years, since the first fall, and I don't think I can undo what I've been doing in that 5 years. What I maybe should have said is that doing the normal moving I am not feeling the pain I was. If I moved "wrong" I would feel pain. Believe me when I say this - normal movements are not causing the pain I was before - like an ice pick in my knee.
It's not exactly "free from pain", but as free as I can expect. I still move cautiously. Anyone watching me would still say I'm walking/moving like a penguin lol

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

LOL understand the penguin walk. Free of pain is a good thing. Over doing because you are free of pain is NOT...That's when you get into trouble. Just don't want you to do more damage than is already there.

I've had bum knees since I was a pre teen; know where you are coming from, I don't know what it is to walk pain free. Only relief I have ever been offered was silicone injections into my knees. I told Dr. if he was going to inject silicone, I had better places for it than my knees. It was more his attitude than his treatment that turned me off. He was just kind of off hand and acting like I was making the whole thing up. Just one more time I've had a bad experience with a Dr.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I understand bad experiences with Drs........ I had my jaw lock open once when I was 16 (and my boyfriend forced it shut - hand on top of my head & bottom of my jaw), and it gave me shooting pains for a long time. Dr said he could give me a shot for that but "you women - pain is all in your head". DUH - yeah, my jaw!! I went back to him another time, to inquire about the shot, and he said "not an injection, a SHOT in the jaw" meaning a good punch would cure me of it. He was serious....... I'm guessing his wife kicked him out of bed.......... lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Evening everyone. Well, i am back from another trip to San Antonio, and another cancelation. I stood outside the Dr. office for 15 minutes, and finally knocked on the door. The girl ask me if I needed something. I told her I was there for my 1:00 appointment. She looked at me like I was crazy, and told me the office was closed for the day. She said I missed my appointment yesterday at 10:00. We stood there arguing and another lady came out and told me I missed my appointment. She said everyone was called for the new day and time. When I showed her my phone log to prove I never got that call, then they apologized. I said I do not accept the apology, and told them to tell the Dr. I was really upset. Then walked out.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

gawd, LK - they really sound incompetent - have they called you back with a new app't day/time?
That's a long way to go just to find out the app't was cancelled........
Glad to hear you refused their apology - just apologizing does Not make it right........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

They gave me an appointment for next month, but I think I will look for a new Dr. It cost me $120.00 round trip for gas for 320 miles.

LK that is just crazy that they do that. ! Hope you can get a closer Dr. Sending you healing thoughts.
Sharon. I m glad to hear your on recovery from that med. Sending you healing thoughts. That is no easy task to wean yourself off a med. Glad to hear you are keeping the laughing going on. :)
Judy how fun about the dress. So exciting ! How are the birdies doing ? are they behaving :)
Gathering is still on.
sorry i have been busy with school and i was sick for a short time.
June 24 - 28th

So i m working on my menu too. will be doing that next week

Its just around the corner. I will post some pics too of the gardens.

Omg lindakay, that is insane, not only the $$$ but your time and energy..when you aren't feeling the best the last thing you want to do is sit in a vehicle for hours..which vehicle do you take, Todd's truck? He sure doesn't sound too dependable that is for sure..no other major city that is closer that you could find a new one ?

Girls just left, did more laughing than sewing, fun time!

Two late nights, let's hope I can sleep in

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I wish the specialist were closer, but if anyone here needs a specialist, they all drive 160 miles to San Antonio.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone

Unheard of, just woke up..
Bright out but on the cool side,

Lindakay, Lordy that's a long way to see a specialist, would be like me driving to Buffalo

At least you get to see the family right?

Now what?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you slept in today, you needed the rest.

Yes, I get to see the family, and that is really nice, but when I drive that distance to be told I was rescheduled with out me knowing, I was pretty livid, and I let them know exactly how I felt. And yes, I said a few words, I can't type here. :)

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Sure can't blame you there Linda. I think my time is just as valuable as the Drs. I will only wait a reasonable time past my appointment, then I tell them why and leave.

Being cancelled by them without notice is unprofessional.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I hate being jerked around and I would have had some words to say too. That is totally wrong and they should give you FREE visits for TWO years. One for each time!!!!!!!! Is there not another specialist doctor to see even in San Antonio?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

There are many specialist, I just have to go through the process of seeing my family Dr, and asking her for a referral.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

AmandaEsq has the 2015 Mug Swap OPEN.

Think I would give her a call and ask for a reliable referral this time.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean/Dianne, see that B.B. King died..what a performer, know he'll be missed.
cold out there, think I will stick to inside, get the quilt off the frame if I'm a good girl and keep at it.

Darlene just dropped in, brought mega clothes that belonged to her mom, think all to big for my mom, great quality clothing..even brought mink coats..not today but wouldn't mind make a teddy bear for Darlene and her sister Sue..could cut outside so that I don't have fur a floating lol

must look for my patterns

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Oh Betty, fur teddies! ! Sounds wonderful.

Linda, I'd be very upset at Dr. We should be able to bill them for our lost time.

Hugs to Y'All

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That would be some bill...
6 hours of my time for driving each trip , plus gas...

Victoria Harbour, ON

maybe if people did that they would smarten up LindaKay

Thunder, you have any simple patterns I could use..ideas???

made teddies about 20 years ago, think some of the girls might have their patterns

also with what she brought was a coat, think lamp with fox fur

just too bad it's no longer in style, its some jacket and likely was a mind when purchased

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Those teddy's will be awesome.
