Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old/new

mulege, Mexico

happy mothers' day to everyone. Especially all my mothers here.

Extra big hugs, Debbie. Sometimes we just have to hang on and wait for whatever to pass.

Out to work on the back yard and get my energy up a bit.

Spent the last hour or so writing. Between physical pain and depression it's hard to keep going. I had a few minutes last evening when I got angry. I'm trying to recapture the feeling without ranting.

hugs, katie

Happy Mother's Day!!!!!
I got wished Happy Mother's Day from both my kids - nice, seeing as how this is the first time in 16 years, because my son just got in touch with my last October after 16 years Made me very happy to hear from both of them :-)

I haven't gotten in touch with my mom - 3 phone calls and she wasn't in her room at all. I called one of my sisters and left a message. The other sister's voice mail kicked in, so I didn't leave a message.

Hope you have a very Happy Anniversary, M.

May be gone for a few days. MIL has had another stroke and unless things improve greatly, this may result in a move to assisted living or even possibly a nursing home...We discovered she has stopped taking her meds completely for the past couple months and Dr says she has a full blown UTI and severe dehydration. Please keep her in your thoughts. She turns 86 in September.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear about your mil Jean..some hard decisions to be made..does she live a distance from you. Adding her to my prayers..

Great news Susan that you spoke to both the kids.

"M" are you attending university every day? What are you taking? Anything planned for your anniversary?

Poor Lorna, might have to put starting off for a few days if the rain continues.

Tired, had quite the day..took mom to her mom's grave site, she's been gone 68 years..died at 34 due to brain aneurysm ..wasn't much to clean,set flowers and a solar light then I went in and ordered the Chinese, they promised to have it here for 4pm and 4pm on the dot it was here,

Torrential rain most of the day so no outside work, Greg said he'd be back next weekend to do his chores. Was a lovely afternoon/evening, Greg/Mel,Kyle and Briana, mom and aunt Muriel, nice just to chat

Got some lovely hanging baskets and bouquet of flowers

Although I did nothing but sit and gab I'm exhausted so calling it.a day

Hope you all enjoyed your soecial day

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I had a wonderful day too. Norm and I went for a leisurely drive in the morning. Came home, did my meds and then went to Stacy's for the late afternoon and dinner. It was nice to be able to chat with her. She is having a hard time with a pinched nerve in the back of her neck. And then her car was hit by a hit-and-run with damage to the whole right side. Not a good week for her.
Brandon is home and it was great to be able to talk with him also....
Must finish my night meds... Sweet dreams....
Oh, almost forgot, Stacy gave me a lovely hibiscus today. I will take picture tomorrow and then I will pick your brains as how to care for it. LOL

Betty how are you feeling today ? still soar ? . Enjoyed the pics you shared.
Jean i m sorry to hear about your MIL. sending healing prayers.
Barb glad you got some talk time with Brandon. Sorry to hear of Stacey's neck pain. Hope she can get some relief soon.
Judy how are things going ? how is your weather ?
Lk hope your surviving all those warm temps. :)
Susan don't work to hard on your move. How are your knees doing ? better i hope.
not much going on with me.
planning our menu's for the gathering. Planning some nice trips to my fav nurserys and craft stores.
i have my thai massage classes all week. so i won't be around much. They are all day classes. i won't be home until 6 pm. then i m pretty tired.
take care everyone

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jean - prayers for your MIL...... stopping taking her meds was not a good idea.....
Marilynne - hope the weather improves, but if Lorna can't work yet, well it's meant to be...

oh Barb..... poor Stacy - I'll bet she's pretty shaken up!!
How lovely - a Hibiscus!! Those are Beautiful flowers! lucky you :-)

Sue - my knees are Not doing well at all. I'm going to make an app't with my dr tomorrow, see what he can do. I keep hearing about injections to help (not cortisone/painkillers). I'll ask him.......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, still raining andlikelywill do so for a few days!

So pleased you had a wonderful day Barb,... indoor hibiscus, am sure someone will be able to help you what care it will need.

Poor Stacey,, some weeks jus don't go our way.

Sue, nice to hear from you, how long will your course be?

Deb and Annette, how did you spend your day

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Had a nice day. I'm trying to get the house fixed up for an appraisal for a refinance, so my daughter and son-in-law spent Saturday and half the day Sunday at my house. He's scraping the gutters and trim and will paint the house as soon as the weather allows (rain both days), and she was inside cleaning, washing walls, etc. Best present I could ask for! My son couldn't get away, but I talked to him, and he's coming over next weekend to clean up the garage and basement. I wish the weather would have been nicer, for outside chores! Pups were little monsters, but my daughter brought her dog over, so they all had a nice play date.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! I too had a wonderful Mothers day. Andy and his family came in for the week end, brought me beautiful flowers, and a really nice necklace that has a quilt block on it.

How lovely Linda - both of them.
I was given a beautiful hibiscus and have absolutely no idea how to care for one. It is potted so I'm assuming it is for an indoor plant. Anybody know what I need to know????

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Try this site Barb.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Deb, what a fantastic gift, a gift of ones time
sure makes you smile to see the chores you couldn't do yourself done.. just wonderful

My goodness LindaKay, that necklace is awesome, went back to read, because your top is identical in color thought for sure the necklace and top were a set..love the flowers

Looks as though we were all spoilt..don't you think there should be a mother's day in each season?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Barb, I have a Hibiscus tree I was gifted by my daughter about 5 years ago. I have it in a large pot on a dolly so I can easily move it around. It goes out on the front deck in the summer. In the fall I trim it back severely as it would be past the ceiling by now if I didn't. I don't have many good windows but it seems to do OK in a NE one.(it even bloomed last month). I will give it another trim before I move it out for the summer. It usually goes through several blooms during the summer.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I used to plant my hibiscus outside as a summer flower and it bloomed like crazy. I know I could have brought it in, but didn't have the light or room to keep it. Besides, I'm not good at keeping blooming plants inside - they die on me.......

Woke up this morning, with my knees screaming at me. Took 2 painkillers, and a topical spray. Starting to work..............
Heard it raining, then it got quiet - it's snowing now.......
Glad we moved (when I say "we", it's the Royal We - Bob did it.....) packed boxes over to the new place, and the oak dining table. Now I have room to pack new boxes and it helps clear room for more to pack.
I cleaned more of the stove that's there, and will have to tackle the oven later - Bob sprayed the oven after SCRAPING the worst of it off. Too bad it's not a self-cleaning oven...... it would take about 4 cleanings to have done it if it were, anyway!!

Well, time to have breakfast before Bob heads to work.
I'm going to make an app't with my Dr today....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, the top is my Pajama's I am still in. My hip has been acting up, so I am being lazy!

Susan, I hope the Dr. has good treatment for you. How are Bob's ribs doing?

Victoria Harbour, ON

well then you'd best dress up your p.j.'s and make them an outing outfit because they look so well together!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Bob's ribs are doing just fine - he's as good as new - and the 24 hour flu he got just afterwards is gone too. I can't remember him being so sick before.....

As for my knees..... after taking the painkillers, they're somewhat better, but now I just want to go to sleep.......

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

~~~~~~~ waving ~~~~~~ to let Y'All know I am still alive and kicking.
it has been very busy at work, and I am working on a quilt with a deadline!!! been busy. but always thinking of Y'all.
Hugs ♥♥♥
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
No back to work for Lorna, like Susan, we have had just the WORST weather since Sunday afternoon .. even snowed a titch here this morning, that's when Lorna's boss called and told her to stay home ..
So .. we went to the greenhouse she is dealing with for her flowers, and, she put her order in .. the young couple was over the moon happy with such a big order, plus, the exposure their flowers will get at the cemetery ..
Heading off to the univ . Betty .. I am taking courses in End of Life treatment, and, Advanced Directives ..ie .. what you want done to you if you should of a sudden become critically ill and could expire .. pretty intense stuff I must say ..
LK .. that necklace, with your jammies looks awesome !!
Take care of those knees Susan ..
Sue, would love a massage :-) Do you do the 'hot rock' thing too ?
Barb, sounds like a good time was had by all yesterday ..
Waving at everyone ... my magic mirror has rain on it !!!!!!!!!!
~M~
Victoria Harbour, ON
"M" must be overwhelming at times taking such courses, lots to digest I'm sure.
Lorna must be disappointed but looks like you both made the best of it, enjoyed the day
Susan, just takes mega time, glad Bob is up to par, much work to get done
Thunder, you have a deadline, is it for a special occasion for one of the family? take time to rest
I called for Dr.'s appt..best they can do is fit me on on Dr's lunch next Tuesday, imagine..should have gone with ambulance. Insurance company made plans that I drop my vehicle off tomorrow morning, a rental will be waiting for me..not sure how long it will take to repair, guess I'll know tomorrow.
rained almost all day, sun is out for a bit but the sky says 'don't get too excited' more to come.
did go to Barrie, Quilt Etc had lots on sale but nothing that I thought would look nice on my bed..am sure I'll find somewhere to spend those Mother's Day $$$ lol
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Betty, call them back and tell them you were in an accident. They will get you in sooner. At least they do here.
Victoria Harbour, ON
did tell her that..said soonest and she would put me in on their lunch hour..
not dying so not a problem..tingling in my left fingers, bit better than the other day
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
ok, back from the Dr. He said that I have osteo in both knees, and as the T3s aren't working and I'm in the middle of a "crisis" for my knees (moving house), he's given me oxycodone Hcl (narcotic) to see me through. They will also make me drowsy, so this should be fun....... I just took 2 (can take 1 to 2 three times a day. I'd taken 2 T3s at 7:30 this morning and by 9:30 was off for a nap for 2 hours. Now it's just after 2pm and I've taken 2 of the new drug. I expect I'll be sleeping when Bob gets home LOL He called while I was at the Dr's to see how I'm doing - what a sweetheart. He takes such good care of me.
Hopefully this will make me function so I can pack & move.......
btw - snow all gone, and it's now 11c - very sunny & fairly warm.
Betty - you sure have to wait a long time to see your Dr! I call in the morning, and see him in the afternoon. Mind you, I think I have the best Dr in all of Canada/US!! He impresses the heck outta me, that's for sure - he's the best Dr I've ever had.
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Be careful taking those oxycodone, they can be very addictive.
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
I asked the Dr about that, and he said this is to see me through my "crisis" during my move. I don't have a refill.
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
whoa - my knees feel better! Guess it took most of an hour for me to notice, but hey - if I can get them feeling better, without sleeping all the time, I'll get something DONE lol
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Glad they are working for you!
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
not perfect - they're feeling a little sore, and stiff too, but.......... better!
The "telling" would be if I could get down to the lower cupboards. That's the real "screamer" for me.
I'll try, when Bob's home.
Victoria Harbour, ON
You will be flying high Susan..scary stuff even for awhile
Good luck getting through everythng
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
I'm just happy that my pain is lessened!!!
He wants me to go back in 2 weeks to see him.
glad your knee's are doing better with the meds. I do hope the meds work for you to get over this move. Careful and easy does it girl.
Thai yoga we don't use hot rocks. LOL . but if you really want me too... i guess i could warm up a pair :) we do more with reflexology points . Marma points in the feet and other body area's. Sen lines in your body. Very interesting stuff.
Good Morning...
Sounds like a nice Mothers Day was had.
We had a nice visit with MIL.
Jacob prepared the most delicious meal.
He made breakfast to start the day. And cleared his stuff from the front foyer, yaay! Oh and after everyone left, he and I rode his scooter around the neighborhood together. OMG I have driven a motored bike in 26 years. It was a ball.
Breenie and I went to the HD garden where she and I planned out the front garden.
She loaded her trunk and back seat with plants! We will create a beautiful front garden display.
lol, it has been a year and finally ready to plant, wink.
She also gave me a card signed with all her nick names, started with DD #2, lol I love that.
Julia came for coffee and a quick visit. She had to work the entire day, she gave me a beautiful card and $$gift card!
Steve's Bday is Wednesday so we celebrate that too.
And it was also my Eldest sister, Ginni's Birthday, so we had a great visit by phone.
all in all a lovely day.
Tomorrow, I am going to Uncle Pipe's house to do a massive clean! Probably be all day.
great timing too, I need to replenish my spending money!
Moonbeam, sorry to hear about MIL. My goodness, sounds like you got there just in time. How scary. I sure hope a good place can be found quickly.
M, hope your course goes well. Oh geese also hoping the weather hold out for Lorna.
Linda kay, beautiful bouquet and necklace! LOL, your jammies match perfect.
Moonie, so sorry to hear about MIL. I was glad the stroke wasn't too severe. Sounds like you found out in time, I hope...Got my package on Saturday! Thank you.
So, I started typing this this morning! Got side tracked getting DH to an emergency walk in for an x-ray. Yesterday he coughed while moving and has been in severe pain since. Almost called 911. Tried to go to work, not happening so finally found the right place, hands on the hips thank God it was not life threatening, what a run around! Anyway, Thank God for real, he is perfectly healthy on all the tests. Turns out he has a severe muscle strain. Muscle relaxents and some rest, and hot/cold treatments.
Ok so now I have to try and get this done. Most of the day gone.
Waiving Hi Sue, sure hope the classes go well..Oh and M class too.
Anyway, our weather has been rainy and cold. chilly for next couple days and maybe more rain. So what's up with the gathering?? I'm so confused at this point. Maybe you could give me a call.
Betty, sounds like you had a nice visit with mom, Oh my gosh, so glad you got an appt. You could have aggravated something with getting jolted. I hope your car is fixed quickly.
Alright let see if my photos post.
1. breakfast sandwich
2. Front garden plants
3. the most delicious dinner. (lol) I even helped!
Judy ... YUMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm !!! The food (and flowers/plants look awesome ..
Susan .. oxys WIRE me .. take the pain away and make me energized, only lasts for 3 hours, but, as I don't take'em often, I make sure that when I take one, I put the affect to good use.
Temps are going down, below 30F tonight ..
Gonna tuck meself into bed and try and turn off my brain !
GOOD flippin luck LoL
mulege, Mexico
It's another gorgeous day here in San Francisco. I worked in the back yard again yesterday and was sound asleep on the couch when Michael and Jane got home at 9:30. Then had trouble getting back to sleep. Had a two-hour, or more, nap today. The yard has been totally neglected - has large tree limbs, etc all over and lots of weeds. Great therapy and diversion from the retirement stuff. There is a large trash pile which is now about twelve feet tall and even wider. I told Michael I may look for sunflower and hollyhock seeds to put by the back fence where there is now some clear room. He said "Go for it." He has a ginko tree about three feet tall. I repotted it. Michael thought it was on orchid. His house is immaculate; his yard is a mess. My place is just the opposite. As long as I don't mess up the house he's happy to have me as a guest. I was walking through the living room yesterday feeling very proud of how I have kept the yard mess outside, when I stepped on a rock on the living room rug!!! OOOps. Well, it was a pebble but it felt like a rock and it was quickly returned to the outdoors.
The second Board of Directors meeting is tomorrow. I have one hand out done. May do a second. Not as nervous as last week. I'm not expecting much. This is what I think - and feel - I have to do before hitting them through AARP and other social media. A polite warning, as it were.
Will also shop for the seeds I mentioned and maybe a few plants. Lots of beautiful succulent gardens here.
Need to walk to Trader Joes. That will be my exercise for the day. I've been in a lot of pain from the gardening but it feels good to be able to be active (with the help of Norco painkillers).
hugs, katie
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
oxyc didn't "wire" me - I felt quite fine. It did get me through the pain so I was able to pack/move/clean today & tonight.
They didn't make me energized - I'm normally an energized person but they just got me through doing what I needed to.
Well, just back home from the new place and it is midnight - I'm exhausted. Time for bed.......... zzzzzzzzzzz
