Going to try to finish the binding on my Dresden wall hanging and then play with fabrics and see what I need for zippers and threads to match......

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Got all the un-sewing done, now to press and see what I can salvage.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Jean, very sorry for your loss. Healthy thoughts for your MIL

Barb, Betty, sign up for her e mail/ newsletter. you will get a free pattern, and exclusive sales. Like buy 2 patterns, get one free. And she sends out very helpful tips for sewing stuffies!!

Jean .. my biggest, most sincere hugs and deepest most heartfelt sympathies on the passing of your 'Sophie Spoon' .. what an absolute darling .. and, our Gustav and Smokey (dog) will be there ready to greet her with a stunning new swing set with just the MOST splendiferous SLIDE to sit on top of to watch the heavens roll on by ..

Obviously I have been busy, seems to be my second name these days .. ain't gonna bore ya with the particulars, suffice to say it has only been 'good stuff'.

Katie, I have to say, I can feel your 'peace' coming through in your posts .. you seem so incredibly happy being in San Fran, and, having perhaps a resolution to your issues forthcoming.

Susan .. you go gurl .. you've not mentioned what your feelings are about the new digs ..do you like the area and the set up of the house? Wishing you all the best as the days creep forward to your final day at your former home ..

Sue .. Thai massage is a happening thing here in Northern Canada .. know of a couple of acquaintances who have (do) have it done .. find it really helps theim .. I tend to think you will find clientele easily .. it's just the marketing .. always a challenge ..
Best of luck ..

Barb, wow, so nice to hear bout your foray out into the SHOPPING world :-)
Sounds like you'll be busy ..

LindaK .. the 'fiasco' with the doc and his staff is just totally unacceptable .. even though I doubt you will receive any monetary compensation, I do think he should know that he made you feel less than important, and, that his staff boobed up big-time !

Betty .. the wall hanging is a nice piece .. good to read you got some help around your property, makes such a big difference ..

Karen .. don't feel bad re the tree skirt .. I'd still be sitting looking at the directions and GROANING LoL
Do you have lotsa rain there ?

Hi to our 'lurkers' .. Dianne, Mary, Marion .. gosh my mirror is flashing too fast :-)

Take care

Susan, did you decide to bring desk to reuse it

Many are Mia, sure wish they would drop in with simple 'I'm dine'

I'm thinking while grass is still wet I just might run into town

Want wood to make a quilt hanger, need more deck cleaner and want to pick up stained glass solar lamp for Mel

Ok looking for 2 or 3 shrubs to replace those I lost that hides the secret garden

Mind is going 100 miles an hour as you can see. 😜

Good morning everyone, It's another nice day here. I'm in much less pain that I have been for last few days so I may get some yard work done.

Michael is in LA with his parents who are both under the weather but not seriously ill so he's enjoying his visit. I told him I've been in too much pain to mess the house up much and he thought that was very funny. Nice to have people who appreciate my sense of humor.

I'm also missing Dianne, Sharon and other lurkers. Speak up, ladies. You posts are missed.

Sophie will be rolling around with Jennybear and the others. Jenny never lost her puppy happiness and I know it will be welcomed over the bridge. But I sure miss it here. She was the best anti-depressant ever. I know there will be more but it's still painful now.

I found a few herb plants at Trader Joes so I will add them to the planters on the deck.

The Board meeting is Thursday so I have a few more days to decide what, if anything, I'm going to say/doo there. I'll meet with the Supervisor's worker for lunch before the meeting. I did not expect any quick resolutions when I first went to the Supervisors' meeting ten days ago. I'm doing the footwork - letting them know what happened and giving them a chance to help. If they don't do anything we will proceed to social media. That would take a lot more time and energy but the plan is there if it's needed.

Glad to be in less pain as my thinking gets less clear the more pain I am in.

Happy Sunday, friends.

hugs, katie

Marilynne - like the house (1950's with hardwood throughout, and rooms instead of open concept), , don't like the area (right on the corner at a traffic light & a Jr. high across the street) but the neighbours are nice. I wish we had the garage as promised, but our landlord has decided he wants to use the whole 2 car garage as his cabinet workshop..........

Betty - we have two of the desks - one for sale, and one for my use.

Whew. Just pent about two hours clearing the weeds from between the flagstones of the path from the sidewalk to the front door. Many years of neglect so a lot of it comes up in clumps. I am tired and ready to play on the puter for a while.

I made note of a couple of yard sales but I find that I don't go out much. When the time comes to go, I'd rather stay home.

Fixing some breakfast.

hugs, katie

Hi,

My sympathies to the loss of your dear Sophie Jean.....still missing my Izzy so much and this little beast is just not fitting in well.

Things here are...odd.

Trying to keep up with the reading but feeling like a truck came through and took me out.

Last night was making "Chinese" dish and frying up some chicken, got burned really bad. SO, nursing that today with a whopping big blister on my finger and a small one next to that.

DH is beat, been working overtime and worked the weekend for first time in a year at least.

Shane has been helping us both so much.

Things are changing...moving...rearranging, and all that jazz. Just trying to breath.

Oh yes, and with all cats in the house...Sami caught a mouse last night.
Injury 3 days ago where he wrapped cable around my leg and ran, its a pretty purple...
guess I know who was driving the truck that hit me.

Hugs to all

mulege, Mexico

Oh Debbie, Come cuddle up on the couch with me and the down quilt and we'll watch TV and not think about anything. Big hugs, katie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

"M" have you heard of William Root. He makes prosthetics. If you Google his name there's a lot of information on him.

I wore myself pulling weeds this morning. Did some laundry and washed dishes but mostly played on the puter.

Will read a bit then go to bed.

Why is May 24th known as Victoria Day?
“The 24th of May is the Queen's birthday
If we don't get a holiday, we'll all run away!”

Canadians observe Victoria Day on May 24th or on the preceding Monday. For most of us, the arrival of this day means we can start planting our vegetable and flower gardens and put the long winter behind us. For the majority of Canadians, it also means a welcome long weekend. But how did Victoria Day come about, and why do we celebrate it?

Origins

This holiday is named after the British monarch who gave royal assent to Confederation. Queen Victoria, who reigned over Great Britain, was born on May 24, 1819. She enjoyed the longest reign in British history, ascending the throne in 1837 and ruling until 1901—a period of over 62 years!

The Parliament of Canada first declared her birthday a holiday in 1845, well before Confederation! The May 24th celebration was a popular one—if you had been a resident of Canada West (Ontario) in 1854, you might have joined a crowd of thousands that gathered in front of Government House in Toronto to shout a cheer to the Queen.

In 1901, the year of Victoria's death, the holiday officially became known as Victoria Day. Since that time, Victoria Day has commemorated two royal birthdays: the birthday of Queen Victoria and that of the current monarch.

May 24th is a statutory holiday in all Canadian territories and in seven out of ten provinces. (In Quebec, this date is celebrated as La Journée nationale des Patriotes, or National Patriots' Day, in memory of Anglophone and Francophone activists who fought for democratic government in 19th-century Quebec.)

Traditions

What traditions are upheld on Victoria Day? Well, if you're enjoying a downtown stroll at noon in the nation's capital or in any provincial capital, you'll hear the firing of a 21-gun salute. You'll also see the Royal Union flag (the “Union Jack”) flying alongside the National Flag of Canada, the “Maple Leaf,” from sunrise to sunset at federal buildings and properties.

If you're in downtown Victoria, British Columbia—a city named for the Queen—you may join over 120,000 spectators watching marching bands, floats and clowns performing during the annual Victoria Day Parade.

Finally, you might be one of many Canadians ooohing and aaahing over dazzling firework displays that light up the evening sky of most Canadian cities. You might even choose to set off your own firecrackers and sparklers.

Hiya ..

Katie, I Googled 'William Root', what an outstanding, and, dedicated fella .. the only thing is, he seems to deal with, BKA, Below Knee Amputees ..
Of course, his being located on the US west coast makes it sort of iffy.
Lorna will be getting 'another' new leg (socket) on Wednesday ..
The prosthetist is SO over worked it is incredible ! We are in the midst of having a story done for our local paper about Lorna and all she has had to put up with.
Like you Katie, we got pushed off one too many times .. time to 'go public'
Hope you have a nice day there in San Fran :-)

We have S N O W on the way to end our holiday weekend .. I'm sure Queen Victoria would NOT have approved !!!
Just downright damp and dreary, and, DH has laid a fire and it will be lit soon ..
Feel bad for the Hummingbirds that showed up on the 14th ..

Best get back to cleaning out drawers .. have the kitchen 98% tackled .. then I'll start on cupboards .. the arthritis in my hands/arms is making it more difficult to reach down casserole dishes .. what I wouldn't give for the big bin type of drawers that slide out and hold things like that .. no stretching up, almost dropped a good Corning Ware 13" dish yesterday :-(

Wherever you are, enjoy your day .. Debbie I hope your burns are less stingy ...
Dianne .. how are you doing ..
Hi to all

Had the appraiser out yesterday afternoon for the refinance. So glad that part's done! I've done nothing but clean, paint, and carry stuff to the basement, for the past 4 days! Now to find everything that I put in a special place so I wouldn't lose it! Pups were no help, they shredded countless rolls of paper towels that were left sitting within reach. But, now, it's done! YAY!

I hope all of you in Canada had a nice long holiday weekend. I'm sure looking forward to Memorial day weekend here!

Now, to go back and read all I've missed!!

Deb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wasn't sure why my fingers feel numb, said I've good blood flow, told me to keep close eye on any changes

Had a call, young man, lol, likely now in his 40,s, used to come to programs at the facility I co ordinated, called to say he is an aide for a couple I knew decades ago, in fact Lois had a store, sold me two of my knitting machines..he says Lois is always talking about me, would I come for supper next week to surprise Lois and don so will do that next Wednesday night

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Glad you had a good long weekend, Betty.
Geeze - they can't figure out what's wrong with your fingers? Pinched nerve maybe?
How nice - you're a surprise for someone!!!!

Marilynne - that's a car to make you stop and take notice, for sure!! What's with all the cables hanging out? Surely he can't drive it that way...........

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

We were in the grocery store for half an hour, then sat with our Timmies for 15 minutes waiting, but, nobody went near the vehicle .. Have zero idea what was up ..
The area the store is in is noted for 'deer traffic' .. they are quite comfortable with people ..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lucky person then "M"
Was a sunny but brrrr kind of day with wind, I dozed off and now it looks as though a storm is about to roll through.
Think I would still be sleeping except for Darlene calling, watch if I'm not up all night now

Betty hope you can come to the gathering. We changed the date due to so many conflicts with others and thought changing them may help ?
Not a lot of response from anyone so i went ahead and put the date as is. I can be flexible .
Not much going on here today
went back to gym first time in 3 wks.
Ouch on the car ! wow .

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Boy, today was NOT a day to get a complete nap......... I tried, at noon, but Bob phoned me on our home phone (I set the home phone on my night stand, because I was waiting for a call but apparently the volume won't increase so I didn't hear it), then he called me on my cell which was at the other side of our home. I jumped up and ran (yes, I ran) to the other side and it had quit by then. I called him back and told him what I'd done. He was sure I had hurt myself running. The adrenalin was still pumping so I hadn't realized I had. Oh, But I Had....... 20 min later I realized I had.
I then had to meet a washer repairman at the new place and it was too soon to take more meds when I realized I had hurt myself anyway. I went home at 3:30 and took my meds. I hobbled around the rest of the day, painfully.
After dinner I nodded off on the couch, and got a furnace cleaning co wake me up yet again!!
On the up-side, I'm feeling better for the amount of rest I did get tonight........ just grouchy at the guy who called tonight (and at Bob, truth be told, because he called unnecessarily.......and I got hurt, trying to run to the phone while half asleep)

Susan hope your leg feels better soon.
boy i m sleepy i may nap with you Susan. couple more weeks and kids will be out of school and we don't have to do the get up a t6 am will be nice.
austin has a feild trip today to the Dayton Art Museum. Wish i could go :)
