Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old/new!

Lyndonville, NY

No report on problems. Still adjusting meds.

Arm/wrist should be fine with rest and a few slight exercises, and not lifting.
Apparently walking the dog and him running aggravated it when he yanks
on leash.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

OUCH! Sending prayers for a speedy recovery.

Congrats on the good grades Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

lordy, you will have to leave the walking of the dog to Paul and Shane
is your yard fenced in where you can let him run?

Thanks LindaKay..won't be meeting up with Jeff today, picking up the Jeep has been delayed by 1 1/2 hrs. as he added an extra..boys and their toys lol

so think I'll take a quick un in to Barrie..need a pond repair kit anyways

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Did you find the leak?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Glenview, IL

Hellooo!

Taking a break.
Wishing all the Best, Katie.

Yay, how wonderful for Brandon school. So glad you went to the nationals Barbara.
I'm you took photos

Oh man that's the pits Debbie. Hope that heals up quick.

Betty, That is such a cool winter scene. It would make a nice card.
So sorry the door didn't survive the winter. Sweet on the new Jeep.
Yesterday, Julia and I went for a nice walk to view the pretty gardens. Well worth it too.
On the last block over, a beautiful little oasis, gave us a bit of inspiration.
I'm so glad your feeling better? Glad you actually stayed home to rest, don't feel bad for not spreading what you had. Mom and Aunt Murial will enjoy you soon as you can! Sorry to hear Mom fell but very glad she stayed with Aunt Murial. Do you think they would ever live together?

Waiving hiya Sunshine...Well, I'm smiling that your Award winning Gardens are now part of a tour!! How Cool is that. You go girl, lol, I love bragging about your gardens. Hey, I've been thinking and wondering if that Trillium, from our picnic has peeked up yet?

Enjoy the day of Quiet Sue. roflol, I was practically pushing Dh out of the house. It was nice to
listen to the quiet for a few minutes, and then the birds broke out in chatter, hehehe. Had my play time with Pegas. Now watching old Dance Mom shows I recorded. Ackk, I should be doing something!

Well we went to the Lake House. It was our Annual Fish and Fun Festival, we missed the last couple, this year we planned on it specifically. They have Helicopter rides. Turns out one of the Pilots is from two burbs over and he is the Pilot for our traffic reporter!! Jake and Emily came up too. Em and I watched Dad and Son put the pier in. We cut the grass and picked up blown debris and tree branches and lots of pine cones. James and his daughter did not come.
Once it was all in a nicer order we headed to the field, about 6:30. We thought it would be so cool to have both the sunset and full moon rise with the house in full view. Well, it was a beautiful thought. They were closed, sigh. So we enjoyed the festival. Hung out at the music stage. Watched Jake and Emily in the water balls, lol always kids at heart! Had a fabulous beef sandwich.
OMG!! I sat vigilant, camera in hand on the deck, waiting for the Eagle to soar past.
Around 5:30 went to cook sausage. All the sudden Steve's hollering for me to get the camera!
Just as I was grabbing the camera the Eagle grabs a fish right out of the water, just in front of the deck and veers off around a copse of trees!! so sad I missed the whole thing, all I saw was his catch of the day, which was pretty darned cool!
Sunday, Morning we went for breakfast at Maggie May's. Have any of you heard of her?? She is a Country Singer. Then we went for a helicopter ride. Got some fantastic shots of the house and new dam and our falls! And so it was just a fun fulfilling weekend.

Beautiful pictures Judy! Sorry you missed getting pictures of the Eagle fishing!

mulege, Mexico

I'm back from the meeting. Results were mixed. The Board members who stayed listened and one of them even started to dialog with me and then said oh I can't do that. I talked to a woman who works for a Board member and may hear from her. Mostly, I gave them a chance to listen to me and if they don't do anything, it's on them. I'm tired but have plans for continued action after I rest and come down from the fear of public speaking stuff.

More later. Want you all to knows I survived and did well enough to get them to sit up and listen. Especially when I told then that what the retirement people did got me sympathy from the IRS!!!

They meet again next week and I'll probably go back and do a short, focused presentation with a handout. I did not get all of that done for this week, partly as I wanted to see the lay of the land.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had so hoped it would have been better news Katie..guess if your get is like ours it will take forever! Perhaps next week will be the charm..at least they listened right? You will be more. At ease at your next presentation.

Judy, so love all your photo's..what awesome countryside....bet you don't want to return home, too bad you can't spend the summer up there..guess you didn't get to the reservation?

Now that I know the level of the pond I know where to further search for the rip, asked neighbour for the number of the youngster that does odd jobs, what is left is too heavy for me to move (getting smarter aren't I). Lol

Went to Barrie, re use it had nothing like I was looking for
Garden gallery had 4" repair circles ..wow..10.00 each, bought 2' didn't come any larger.. I hope
rip isn't bigger than that

Got to tell you I could have spend a mint, what garden designs they have..

Keep browsing for another day as am having a trench Doug, stone added and the hose that has a cover but drainage holes in hopes it solves some of the water problems solo there goes more $$

Close my eyes when I look at my bank acct
Sure did a number on it the last 4 months.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

back from Polling station. If our polling station is any indication, the fellow I voted for will get in.
haven't heard back from the lady who viewed our home last Wed, so I'm posting it as a rental on Kijiji.ca.

Katie - have my prayers all warmed up for you, cuz I know you'll get satisfaction from the IRS! Faith can move mountains...... :-)

Quick "hi"

LORD was riding with me this morning
Decided to go pick up a few things the men will need to do trench

Man was travelling at a high speed, didn't see stop sign, I saw him, tried to avoid him, how close, back bumper got my left front side

Hit an elderly lady and both ended up about 200ft on someone's lawn

Other than headache, tingling in the fingers I'm a ok
Just a bit shaken

Going to take something then maybe a lay down

Greg came to the site, I got hell, no phone had to use a bi-sanders..I called him then he had no way of contacting me

Appraiser to call, stopped into dealership, need hood, bumper, lights
Small in comparison to what could have happened.

My gracious, Betty. So glad you are okay, and it seems the other lady is also okay. You may very well have whiplash even though the contact was not as severe...it doesn't take much. You may have to break down and see your Doctor. Do take care. Hugs

Think she was in shot, they think her leapfrog is broken

Driver has head injuries

He did say it was his fault

This message was edited May 6, 2015 9:52 AM

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So glad to hear no one was seriously injured. Please listen to Jean, and go get checked out?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Her leapfrog?

Victoria Harbour, ON

This iPad says funny thing, should read ' her leg' how leapfrog came up I'll never know

Too funny, I put bird seed in front feeder, on the table I've a battery operated bird that chants when there is movement, have some blue jays come to eat, can see them looking for other birds..too cute to watch

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Ahhh, that makes a bit more sense...grin.

But...Miss Betty, do not change the subject...the other driver has admitted fault, you and your car are covered...do not suffer needlessly and wind up with serious problems down the road. Tomorrow you may be so sore you can not get out of bed...

mulege, Mexico

Betty, I'm in agreement with the others, take it easy and get checked out by your doctor. You may be in shock, too.

I slept a lot and am up and having coffee and saying good morning before I start trying to think.

As for yesterday, getting through it without breaking down, getting the attention of those who were there (most of the people leave when their gig is done and most of the Supervisors leave when there are no m ore photo ops so I had a very small audience) was all good. I did not expect much but had hoped there might be some media people there. Not by the time I spoke.

I'm making plans for next week and the retirement board meets on the 18th.

Michael's girlfriend lives in Half Moon Bay and they spend a lot of time there. They are also going away for a long weekend. In short, I have a home for while I'm here!!

Did I tell you I got a wheelchair while I was in San Diego? I could sit outside one or both of the Board meetings and give a handout to anyone who enters. Not sure I have the intestinal fortitude to do that but it's a thought.

Meanwhile, I survived yesterday and no one went to sleep while I talked and they even gave me some extra time!

Rome was not built in a day. I've been dealing with Retirement mistakes for 27 years so I'm not giving up now.

hugs, katie

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Think the others are right Betty, wouldn't hurt to have your Dr. look you over. Most likely you will be sore tomorrow.

Keep on it Katie, The squeaky wheel and all that. Hopefully persistence will pay off. Good to hear you will have a place to stay.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Send a copy of what is going on, both with retirement and IRS, to the local business editors of Radio, TV and Newspapers.. No one likes bad press, especially those that stand to lose cushy board positions...

Give it some thought Katie. This seems to be your best time and it is to your benefit to take the best stand possible.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Keep on plugging away, katie - no, Rome was not built in a day, but it took a lot of people to do it. You're getting people on your side and that's a good thing. Publicity wouldn't be bad either.

It's like our Mobile Home Park. Apparently news of it is getting to Texas, as per a friend of ours. So, from East coast of Canada, to Texas...... we're getting a lot of coverage.
And possibility of a purchaser from Ontario, a tenant from PEI, or a tenant from Calgary. We'll have to see what comes up - we need to have tenants here for June 1st as we move out on May 30th.......
Trying to get a secondary acc't in my hubby's name for the basement tenant at our new place - when the upstairs tenant moved, they closed their acc't down and now no internet or tv for downstairs tenant.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I concur - PLEASE take care of yourself. Whiplash (which is likely what you have) is nothing to fool with - it can go on for years of unnecessary pain which can be alleviated if you look after it by seeing a Dr.

Verona, ON

Betty please follow up with your doc as all have said.

Also check out the Toronto Star today - don't know if you can get it online but there is a great article about mental health care for teens in the province. Made me think of Noah.

Well I have been dreading this day for a bit - 3 years ago today my guy passed away. While I am very grateful he is no longer in pain I miss him terribly. Kept busy most of the day but I couldn't keep the sadness away.

Dianne

mulege, Mexico

Hanging with you, Dianne. Missing my Jennybear and so many others. But would not give up the time I had with them.

Working on a one-page handout on the Retirement people.

hugs, katie

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh my...... has it really been 3 years? Seems like ever-so-much-less........ I remember Warren well, even though we never met.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending (((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) Dianne.

mulege, Mexico

Dianne, also remember to be extra careful not to have any "accidents."

I took a long walk today. About an hour and a half up and down the SF streets. This is a really pretty old neighborhood with lots of rehabs going on. My friend has done a lot of work on his house. Especially impressive are the oak floors throughout. Today I looked at the stairs going down to the basement and came back and exclaimed, "Even the wood stairs to the basement are gorgeous." He liked that I noticed.

On my walk I said hello to lots of people and two dogs. Bought ice cream at Trader Joes and walked home.

More news as it happens.

hugs, katie

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Sending you a big HUG, Dianne...Warren was a good man and a fine gentleman to be so loved and missed.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Betty... go to the Doctor.

extra hugs to Dianne

Hi Y'all to everyone else. ^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, big arm wraps as our Judy would say. Know how hard these anniversaries, are, and the dread you go through before the day..reliving in detail the entire illness..it's been 25 years for me, seems like yesterday, remember every detail..hoping you rest well tonight.

Katie, your day sounds so relaxing..wonderful knowing you've a nice place to stay..imagine, visiting San Francisco, so would love to do so one day.

Susan, sure hope you get your place rented and with good tenants

Tried to nap, mega calls, think there is a system in place, got calls one after another checking up on me, had a meal delivered, Greg and Mel just left..nice of everyone.
DSL Sharon called to tell me doc thinks she had a heart attach yesterday, major testingfor her Friday, luckily mom was with her when it happened, I told her about my day, before you know it mom called, brother called, then so on and so on, going to try and get some sleep

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending prayers for Sharon.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning everyone.
Wow - what a day yesterday was on here. Betty - sending prayers that both you and Sharon get the care you need. You really should get yourself checked. Sure hope Sharon is going to be okay.

And Katie - Lord you are my inspiration. You persevere like no one else I know. I am really proud of you. And I am praying that finally they listen and correct what they can......

I can't believe it has been three years since we lost Santa Warren. Or that it has been four years since went to Canada and met Mittsy, Thea, Dianne, Betty and Debbie on that trip!!! My prayers are always with you Dianne. My grandson went to my old home this past week and told me that Warren's tulip is still blooming.

Saw the heart doctor yesterday and all is well. She cut down on the dosage of my fluid pill as the pulmonary doctor has me on the predisone and she didn't think it wise that I take a fluid pill and then pee the predisone all out. LOL!!!

Hope to plan some sewing later today. It has been a while......

mulege, Mexico

Thank you, Barb. I perservere now because every time I think I'm done with retirement and can do something else I get another threatening letter from the IRS or some other retirement-caused problem. I told my friend Michael that this is like doing social work casework. Endless documentation. as I do not have financial resources. People like the retirement worker who talks baby talk to me and blames me for her mistakes make it fairly easy but I am tired. The IRS man warned me that I may get more demands for money. He gave me his direct number to help if that happens but I am tired and frustration. That's why I persisit.

I wrote a one-page IRS/retirement history and my niece looked it over and thinks it's good.

I'm trying to get my cell phone account paid. I paid at Walmart last week but it eats money fast. Another frustration. I just want to go home and play with my dogs and garden with Tony.

I think I will also see about setting up a website as I can begin fairly cheaply. When I get the basics done and some contacts made I can go home and do follow-up via computer and phone. But I have to stay here for now and keep plugging along. Amma will be here in early June and I can spend time with her here and in LA.

I have a little stomach ache this morning. Part of the process.

Something funny: (sort of). When I was coming into the US from Mexico, the US boarder guard (female) looked at an old wooden box stenciled "telephone" that I use for my kitchen things. She said, "I'm not sure you can bring that wooden box in" and sent me to the secondary inspection. I am always quite tired after driving for two days to get to the US and I really had to control myself not to blow a fuse.. Yes, lady, terrorists are now arming themselves with 100-year old wooden boxes. Sometimes I wonder if there is any limit to the stupidity of some of the people we have to deal with. I conclude that there isn't.

End of rant.

Thank you all for hanging in with me.

hugs, katie

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi Katie,

Maybe she was thinking it might be subject to APHIS and/or the Lacey Act which regulate any wood products brought into the US. The Lacey act is a pain in the patootie for importers
