thanks LK :) felt good to get out there.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today?chat with friends old/new!
OUCH !
Thanks for hanging around in the lab with me ..
Had 5 techs watching and learning, while another tech did the blood draw .. 10 vials of it !!!!
Am praying all was labelled properly ..
Lorna planted some bulbs today .. not sure what they are called, but, they're blue and pretty when they bloom.
Got another whack os sun again, getting quite brown ..
DH is home, and, not doing that well again in the pain dept .. we see the Oncologist on Thursday ..he's feeling like he's slipping backwards to the way he was last fall.
Sheesh ..
Think those little girls will make YOUR Mothers Day very happy Betty .. sweet kids :-)
Hope everyone has had (is having) a good day !!!
~M~
Good evening. Yes ma'am Linda Kay...we got your weather and then some. Power went out right after I posted this morning and just came back on a short while ago.
We had a small wind sheer go through the neighborhood...a few tree limbs down here and it blew my Confederate Rose hibiscus FLAT. still has a few roots in the ground, so tomorrow I will cut it way back and try to get it upright...it was about 12-15 ft tall and just starting to form a bud or two..
Thought the rain was done, but right after the power came back on, it started up again. I do not think the temp got above 64F....25 degrees cooler than yesterday.
Glad to see you up and feeling better Betty...know the little girls will bring you a few happy moments...as they get older you have someone to teach quilting and crafting to. grin
M...have a glass of wine and perk up those lost blood cells..
Dianne...sending you a big wave...could you hear the Tedeschi Trucks Band this weekend?
They were at JazzFest in New Orleans along with a fine line up of folks..there are some sample tracks from a lot of the performers on this link.
http://lineup.nojazzfest.com/events/2015/04/24
Hope you all have a lovely evening.
"M" I'm Ouching along with you. That's a big draw. If they wanted that much from me, I'd still be there trying to pump it out.
Betty I hope you get yourself back to feeling good. We did see Bessie (my 2nd cousin by the way). She was so fascinated by the felted slippers that my aunt had made we really didn't get to talk much quilting. She also wanted to learn machine embroidery so she got a short lesson in that too. She did show us several of her quilts and many of her other projects too. She also has a regular job, she sews huge (5' x 6') filter bags for a company. they bring her rolls of the filter fabric and give her the dimensions they need. She said it pays well enough that it covers her other crafting materials.
Sorry to hear about your hibiscus jean. I know it will come back, but it will take some time.
So glad you got to see Aunt Bessie.
I survived the 'blood letting' LoL
Now to survive grocery shopping !!
Wow Jean, that's a big Hibiscus .. such a beautiful flower, and, the colours are amazing .. I MIGHT try to d=nurture one outside this summer, they do over winter pretty well in the house if I can get them in BUG FREE ..
LK .. how ya doin in the pain dept?
Morning Betty, how's the SUTHUN part of Ontario? Another day in the high 60s/70s here .. this could well be our SUMMER!!!
Best get ready to buzz off ..
Have a super day everyone, and, say a prayer for the people of Nepal ..
~M~
Jean 2 of my favourite Blues guys are going to be in Owen Sound this summer - Jonny Lang and Colin James. That's close to Betty.
M I had to wear my winter chore coat when I was outside yesterday. This morning it is quite nice out so hope to get some stuff outside..
On Sunday Steve my 'borrowed son' brought 2 guys and they finished blocking the wood and got a great start on splitting it. Chaos was outside with us all day and was so tired he fell asleep with his head on his food bowl.
Ticks are really bad here. I took 2 off of me, 4 off of my tick magnet Duke and 1 each from Diesel and Chaos..I have revolution to put on them but I always wonder if it really works.
Have been having double vision which is not fun.I took Chaos to his vet apptment with my hand over 1 eye. Poor Chaos - he doesn't travel well. He was sick again. I purposely did not feed him that morning but the techs were making a fuss over him and were very liberal with the liver treats - they are now all over the back of my Escape. Chaos at 6 mon is 70 lb and still has a lot of growing time. He might just be bigger than Diesel if he keeps this up. I swear some days he has gown overnight.
Oh Barb I bet you and Norm are excited about getting away. Seeing Brandon ride is just the icing on the cake. Safe travels!
Has anyone heard from Crissy? Just wondered if the storms are hitting her area.
Lk is the weather as bad as they say in your area? I gasped when I saw on the news that a freight train had cars blown off of the bridge. I think it was the Huey Long bridge. So Jean your area was hit hard.Do you have a generator?
Pups are going crazy - my cleaning lady is here so I best go and restore the peace and calm.
Betty you take care of yourself.
Hope to get back later.
D and the thundering herd.
Jean, how sad about your hibiscus, bet it was your pride and joy..lots of clean up in the yard, hope you are not doing it all on your own
Karen, Aunt Bessie sounds much like my Aunt Muriel, nothing stops her..guess their keeping so positive has lots to do with it.
"M" how long before you get the results of your blood tests? what did you see done differently that caused all the todo? Sorry to hear Gord is slipping backwards again, it all seemed so positive.
any news on Lorna re replacement of necessary equipment to make her life easier?
Sue, sometimes being on your own, learning about yourself, realizing how strong you are and how you can cope on your own isn't a bad thing..keep working the gardens and the beauty will heal you.
Dianne, ohhhh, love blues, in Owen Sound you say? lol
Kaos is going to be one heck of a big protector
Is indeed a sunshine day in my neighborhood, hope you and I get that weather "M" is enjoying so much.
Judy expected back today? Bet she'll be exhausted, lots of work opening the cottage
Doing happy dance, landscapers arrived and hard at it..almost feel guilty sitting inside watching but not that guilty to go out and help lol..sure will make my life easier..gardens I can maintain it's the heavy work I can't do..might ask Ken if he could pressure wash the house and clean the gutters, that was the only thing I had for the boys to do Mother's day on our work day but thought if he had time then I'd surprise the boys and have them just sit and keep me company..that wouldn't work well seeing they are both like their mom, can't sit for 2 seconds. Know if they do a great job I'll have them come back in October to do the leaves that way there will be less for me to fret about come spring.
girls are here working on projects, I think we're having a gab seesion more than a craft day
Betty, most gardeners leave the leafs on the ground during winter, they help protect the flowers.
Tony's daughter Barbara had her birthday yesterday. Tony had wanted me to come to give her the computer I got her but didn't because of Jenny. He told me this morning she was delighted with it. The other guests asked who it was from and she said, "My other grandmother." He also gave me a hug from her.
Tony also found the nest of a little bird in our big dragonfruit plant. It's about the size of a hummingbird but is some other kind. Mom is sitting quietly on the nest. It is on the other side of the house/property from where Chocolate the cat lives and I can close the door and keep the dogs away.
I'm still tired. Trying to get ready to leave tomorrow so I can go to the IRS on Friday in San Diego. Their phone just has a long message; no way to talk to anyone. And phone calls, emails and letters have not solved the problem.
I'm so tired. Must go north and stay until IRS problems are for sure solved and do what I can about the retirement situation. Not going to risk having to go back again. And again.
Insert words Daves won't let me use......
hugs, katie
I'd be saying same words and adding a few you may not have heard of before Katie, this has gone on so long..likely what's getting you down..I'd be camping on their doorsteps and saying you will be there until there is some resolve.Big Sigh
Ahhhh, what a warm feeling you must have had when Tony told you about being 'second grandma'
am sure it's appreciated big time.
Beautiful roses LindaKay, are they some that you just transplanted in the above ground beds?? if so, sure hasn't hurt them any.
Yes, they are the ones I just transplanted. I have lost two, but I will get replacements for them this week end.
Sorry to hear you are sick Sue. Get better soon!
Katie, give them $%## from me too!
Sorry to hear you are unwell Sue, that cold/flu sure takes everything out of you, ask me, still sniffling but it doesn't feel like I've been hit by mac truck
LindaKay, it sure didn't harm them, they are spectacular.
you know I've said time and time again, roses and I don't do well, bought those carpet roses and lordy are they vining..next ones I purchase I'll make grow upright
off to share soup
Problems with my retirement association began in 1987. Every time I think we are done, they have a new way to mess with me. They have lied to me, to the IRS, to Social Security and they arbitrarily cancelled my medical coverage and have repeatedly told me it was my fault.
Guess with the last problems with the IRS and discovering the retirement IRS "expert" lied to the IRS and that is what is keeping the problems continuing I have given up on trying to do much of anything else - crafts, gardening, work with local children, or anything else - until I have done what I can both for myself and for other people who have received the same horrible treatment.
Please forgive my obsession with this. I do read about all of you and have you in my thoughts and prayers but it's hard to let go of this. Your support is invaluable to me so please keep it coming.
I had trilliums when I lived in Michigan. Also lots of daffodils. They are about all I miss.
My friend Michael in San Francisco wrote that he has a bedroom for me. I hope he will also be able to go to the Supervisors meeting with me.
hugs, katie
katie - give them ($)#(H**)(W*%W+@# from me, too!!!
Sorry "M", you asked how my pain was. It is about the same. I go next week, for some sort of lubricating injection, to see if that will help!
Katie, you keep right on ranting here. That is what friends are for.
Let's hope you get some relief lindakay, must be so frustrating..
I've just had 200lbs lifted from my shoulders..landscaping crew just left, they spend 11 1/2 hrs doing the yard, no wonder it was overwhelming for me, mega work..
Big sigh, nice to look outside and not see work/work work.
His wife dropped in, she said when ken got home after giving me a quote he said 'first time I gave a quote and was told, much too low"
He is new landscaping, he hasnt got pricing down pat yet...I asked if he was to come back in the fall now that he knows how many man hours it took what his quote would be..was double..think I shocked him when I gave him double. They did a fantastic job, even some edging..I'm not in to take advantage of someone starting up, I had in my mind what I thought it would be and paying double $$$ was almost dead on
Tired, girls were here, I quilted a little Xmas piece, just need binding and did the background for a snowman pieces then watching everyone working outside it plum tuckered me out
It must be nice to look out and know the work is all done.
Not quite all the work. Lol
Need to get the 2nd pond up and running or fill it in
But yes,to see all those gardens done, made my day
Well there is your Mother's Day project, have them finish your pond. So glad you hired the garden work done. You need to pamper yourself more like this.
8th Annual red white and blue swap is open.

Beautiful flowers Thunder, and I love those bunnies!
Flat out adorable bunnies.
Linda Kay & Betty, will get box open and pics tomorrow.
I have been on the run non-stop, and today spent at Urgent Care with DD.
She is on crutches and air cast, but lots of running to get her settled in apartment
for few days so I don't need to run back up.
Be patient, I haven't forgotten.
Morning all,
Debbie, you look after Shannon, frog photo's can wait!! What happened??
Haven't seen you post either, you ok other than being frazzled looking after your loved ones?
Thunder, those bunnies are just too adorable, just op want to hug one..bet they are time consuming..wish I had pretty flowers like you all..they are gorgeous..you have such luck with your cactus.
Hope you are on the mend Sue..give it another few days resting before you go back to the gardens
Katie, when do you leave, so thankful your friend has a room for you...will you have wifi?
Lindakay you have to know I will make my way to the R/W/bpB swap, thought you'd already have me on it. Lol. Wouldn't miss it for anything.
Calling for a sunshine day here..already been outside looking around..what a blessing to see everything come to life and not hidden by keVes and branches, I'm just so pleased
Will go out and get one hour worth of gardening in this morning and one this afternoon..NOT overdoing as I'm still sniffling.
Sewing room has been missing me
Goal for today is appliqué the snowman piece, make a chenille scared and yo yo' for cheeks and hat and hoping to hand sew border on the Christmas tree piece..shook my head, now why on earth would I have made 6????
If I get that done I'll be a happy camper
That chenille is just too cute Betty, I might have to find a tool and try it one day. Thinking it would be cute for a baby quilt.
I'll finish unpacking today and then I can think about getting back to sewing. I want to finish up the tree skirts this year and oh the pretty fabric I bought in that wonderful store in WV will be just perfect.
I do have a baby quilt to put the edging and binding on. Boy with all my hospital stays I feel so far behind. Baby was born almost three months ago.
There's still Easter stuff stored in my sewing area, I put out the word that it has to go, crowded enough in there.
Karen, you've been through so much and now it's time to gain strength..bet the vacation did you a world of good..now if only you could hear that an offer for your home is coming in.Babies get so much when they are born that the belated gift will be much appreciated. Tool I used is the one you bought me...scissors work just as well!
Hi everyone...
Please say a prayer of support for Julia.
She is having emergency oral surgery as we speak.
My poor baby hardly ever sick. She was pretty terrified of having to be put to sleep.
Me i'm a wreck, just pacing! David is with her and will call as soon as she is in recovery.
Thank You
Woke up with a stomach ache but think I'll be OK to hit the road.
Prayers for Julia. That's scary.
Very quiet here.
hugs, katie
Judy, prayers coming your way for both Julia and you..please update when she's out of surgery!
Katie, safe travels
Katie, sending prayers for a safe trip, and that you also get the answers you need!
Judy, so sorry to hear about Julia, is it for her wisdom teeth? Sending armwraps and prayers for Julia, and you too!
Betty - those are adorable!!
Judy - definitely saying prayers for your Julia - scary when you're hardly ever sick :/
I'm exhausted and haven't been up long........
working on our home, prepping it for a viewing by a potential tenant today, at 2pm...... and it's 8:40am.
Think I'll slip into the hot tub after I do dishes.. mmmmmm that sounds nice right about not - the hot tub, not the dishes (although, my hands would be in hot water!!!!! LOL)
Hi, Thank you, Thank you and Thank God
Whew, she is done. On the way home stopped for pain meds, Norco. David said she doesn't remember leaving for home. Yikes, frm the last root canal, a piece of metal found! fluid leaking from her nose. A second root canal was badly infected from the first, both teeth had to be fully removed. If that was bad enough her wisdom took extremely impacted and growing on a curve...Continue antibiotics.
Katie, Have a safe trip. Keeping you in thoughts and prayers too, was very saddened to hear about your love Jenny.
Betty!! So glad your feeling better. Woohoo for you to get some help, now you can teach your new little girl friends!! I can just imagine how much fun crafting/sewing/gardening is going to be, so smiling up a storm for you, Owah, for your patience twins! Well my friends, I certainly enjoyed playing
Sue, sending gentle armwraps to feel better.
I feel sad about the breakup. However it sounds mutual. I hope things work out for the best.
Happy Belated birthday to Savanah and Austin!! 12now?
Nedd to go take a deep breath.
Thank you again.
whew - sounds like Julia was right to be so sick!! And no wonder! Glad those teeth are out!!!!!!!
...... a piece of metal left in? And badly infected from the first? omygoodness!
