Had an interesting morning. Snowed all night and we weren't plowed. I was to go to lunch with an old neighour of mine. I called to say I would drive out the lane to meet her but she had already left. I waited and waited...... didn't want to leave the house in case she called. The thundering herd started to make a racquet. Yep sure enough there was Maryl toshing down the lane. She called her DH to come with their 4x4 PU. Well after several tries both vehicles were stuck in waist deep snow. I couldn't even get close enough to tow even 1 of them out because of the hill. Did I mention they were 78 and 82? So then I made my way over to the nearest farmer praying he was home (APPROX 2 MILES) and his tractor was in working condition. This whole escapade took almost 3 hours. We decided we would do lunch another day and I would drive out the lane to meet her. In their defence the lane was quite slippery and unless you knew the lane well you would get stuck or slip off of the lane.

So now I am having a hot bath and a nap.

no Betty - you know you're old, when you remember NOT having a remote and know what to do without one, more than you remember having one and losing it down the cushions of the couch lol

Does anyone remember the days BEFORE a mouse was used on a computer? I do...... all keyboard shortcuts! Later on, when we had mice for computers, it sure helped when I couldn't use a mouse - the plug in wasn't working. This was before wireless or USB mice.....

I just got a message from Karen's daughter, "she is off the respirator and awake & sassy and working on her goals. If she does well, she will be up and in a chair eating before tonight!"

Just amazes me how after life threatening surgeries they get them up and out..shaking my head

Went to do the groceries. I haven't gone in ages to the Aldis, they re-arranged the store. Oh it was so nice. Was in and out in about 1/2 hour!

Well i don't know why i have Jessica's other family on my FB. Her dad , step mom and some relatives are on my FB, Since the show aired. I saw his comment about it. He and his wife decided not to do it. ok fine. SO he says on his FB. Enough of Sue.F #$%#K her. Then he gives a statement about how they wanted to keep there feeling private.... and how he and step mom loved her ect.... ??? ok fine, no one ever said you didn't ? . no one ever accused you of not loving her ?? . No where on the show did it even say or state that ? nor did it give any inclination . Nor did it talk about you at all ! LOL. Oye *sigh*
so i had enough. I blocked all his family and him. Such a cleansing.
I guess in a fairy tale land i actually thought he and I could be mature adults and make nice ??

Good morning .. looks as though it was a busy night on the thread ..

Judy, I'm here .. and, even though Gord is not feeling well .. my feelings about his , shall we say, 'personal habits', remains the same .. he is a SLOB!
I love a slob .. it is laughable to some, but NOT to me .. he simply drops things and leaves them.
I go to bed early, he watches the tube til about 11 .. when I get up in the morning, I spend my first 15 minutes of the day cleaning up after him .. like your DH clothes are every where .. papers etc ..
Gets to be a major issue at times, which I keep under wraps as much as possible ..
When he was going through all the health issues in Oct, Nov, Dec I kept thinking what life would be like without him .. made me sad .. but, I still harbour GREAT discontent with 'slobbiness' ! SO .. I hear ya :-)

ANOTHER freeze yer but off day in Thunder Bay .. yeowza .. -28F ..
DH and I are off o the doc later this morning .. since his appetite is next to nil, I doubt we'll be going out for either a late brekkie or an early lunch ..

Sue .. good for you for blocking the 'bad seed' .. it is an empowering feeling ..

Wonder how Karen is feeling .. in my T&Ps ..

Thanks for the kind words. Uhg jessica's dad is a piece of work. I have tolerated his abuse for over 30 yrs. Why ??? heck if know. I just was always hoping one day he would see i m not the bad person.... what did i do so horrible that he is so mean to me ? . I guess i m a slow learner LOL
Judy ,Tim is the same way. After the divorce, he would come over for his visits with the kids. He would leave a mess. I would spend all day cleaning for his arrival. Come back and pizza boxes, cups , dishes ect... all over. I got fed up, They got the talk. But his personality is just that. I m his servant. Not anymore !!! Hope it works out for you guys. Stay calm. I understand the feelings you have with it, trust me :)

was up early, enjoyed watching a movie, wouldn't you know it those snowmen kept calling my name so I cut the piece out, am sure I'll sew it today..easy piece so what to heck, need something to fill in my day.

Suzanne was saying instead of sewing it's time to start planning and putting a package together for Roadtrip 2015..I have most of it done, just some fine tunning so might play with it as well..

other than that not much going on in my life

would like to say though Roger was much the same, I had to pick up, clean, wash..heck every morning he'd say, where's my sock - I'd say drawer 2, where's my t-shirt, I'd say drawer 1 etc. etc. drove me absolutely insane..after he passed on and I'd hear women gab about doing clean up I'd chime in "oh how I wish I could be asked those questions and how I miss the cleaning up after'

know that is not excuse for men/kids not helping but without them sure gives you a different perspective.

Sue, sorry you are still dealing with Jessica's dad and family, glad you've taken them off facebook, sure don't need that stress.

"M" I would imagine you are anxious about today's appointment, we'll leave some in Karen's room and the rest of us in the waiting room with you..we'll all be holding hands and praying that's for sure that Gord gets a good report and that there are meds to help his pain.

Barb, did you get good feedback from your doc's appointment the other day. Bet the house feels quiet today without Sean. How's that red sweater coming along.

LindaKay how are the meds working, are you in less pain?

I went to bed last night, slept 3 hrs, woke just after 11..I've been trying to do without taking anything, finally said 'self, why on earth are you laying in so much pain when all it takes is taking a pill and rubbing down with ice freeze' so did and slept till 4:30am

girls come tonight to sew so I will have a nap this afternoon so I'm alert tonight lol

Pain pills are not working very well. I take a flexeril every night, but not much relief.
I go back to San Antonio next Thursday for injections in my back, and I hope it works, as walking is getting to be very hard to do!

Yes it does. Doggies like to go out after dinner and play catch with the tennis balls. I am getting pretty good throwing left handed, as my right shoulder doesn't move well at all.

Well, I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since my family were here, yep I am smiling away at the memory. Barbara, I hope your visit with Sean was fabulous. Yikes on the pc/laptop switch. I've been doing the same thing. I really really like taking the LT in any given room.

So, I'm going to quit my b&*&^&(^g and have a show and tell story of the day.
Hopefully it will bring smiles to all.

Continued healing thoughts for Karen, Gord, Katie, LK, Noah ,Betty.

Oh, and for my DH whose tunnel vision seems to get worse each year...used to be he would ask where something was and that was okay...now, like Judy's DH it is open the fridge, pantry, closet etc and say "Do we have...?:" or "Where is...?". GRUMBLE

When the kids were little, if they did the same his response would be "If it was a snake it would bite you" Now when he asks, I just say SNAKE! Or when he asks " have you seen...? Do you know where...?" I simply say "Yes" and continue what I am doing... You would think after 43 years this Saturday, he might catch on...grin.

Glad you had a good visit with your DR Barb. Good numbers across the board.

Dianne, glad no one got hurt when the vehicles got stuck. Sorry you missed getting to visit with your friends...in a warm restaurant rather than a cold road. Sounds like Chaos is blending in quite well.
It was 32F last night but the WLs say it will be 77F on Sunday... the seasons go round and round weekly...I hope Spring will stick soon.

Back again, back again .. here do I be ..

Well .. Gord has lost more weight .. 5 pounds in the month .. tests were gone over, a referral to the Cancer clinic sent that obviously was NOT sent on Jan 28 by another doc :-(
He is back on 40mg of prednisone a day .. hopefully it will straighten out his pain ..
Our doc feels it's a form of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma .. :-(
Came home, Lorna had totally cleaned the house .. vacuumed, dusted, even the ceiling fans .. so appreciated
Feel kind of deflated .. just praying Gord's pain improves ..

Marilyn, how about compression gloves for Gord. ? I wear them almost full time. Cold air really makes my hands hurt. They help a bit. Got some for about 10 bucks, at Walmart.
And what about a warm wax thing? I just got one, haven't tried it yet. I think it was Mittsy on a sewing thread that had said something about them?. Hugs to both of you, hurting hands really sucks!!

Sorry to hear about Gord, and his paperwork not being forwarded as needed. That happens here too! Prayers that the prednisone will work for him!

I have the wax bath for hands, it helps me a lot, especially when my skin is in rough shape, with lots of splitting and peeling. It feels soo good too, as my hands are always cold but in the winter they get so cold they are painful

First Dx was a form of arthritis called 'PMR' = Poly myalgia rheumatica ..
Second Dx .. Multiple Myeloma
Third .. Non Hodgkins Lymphoma .. todays flavour of the day ..
This is so frustrating .. whatever he has is elusive and, 'odd'..
Now the Fire Dept wants to get involved because it could be a work related illness caused by breathing in noxious fumes for 31 years ..
Think we'll wait for the Cancer Clinic apt ..
Gord is unwell, but, able to function, I cannot fathom someone more ill needing to be seen and playing this waiting game .

Will have to see if I can find compression gloves Thunder .. if the prdnisone doesn't work, perhaps they will ..
I use the wax bath faithfully .. my right hand is NOT good ..

Anywho ladies ...I am gonna crash .. my mind is in overdrive (once again)

Karen very graciously sent me one of those wax bath machines a couple of years ago. I just love it, especially now in the winter.... Today is the one where Karen will most likely feel her worst as most of the strong pain killers are being weaned from her body. It will be all uphill from now on. Sending my prayers for her swift recovery....

Going to tear down the old computer desk and file cabinet combination today to make way for the new smaller one. Then we can finally arrange the living room with furniture that fits the room size.

Off to do the machine so I can start my day. Hope everyone has a good one....
