Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Welcome friends new & old

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I just LOVE bureaucracy..... NOT!!
Saturday I went to the registry office to renew my driver's licence (before my b-day), with my medical form from the Dr in hand. My story is: moved here in 2006 and with stress of move etc, had a seizure - not since and that was 9 years ago. The powers-that-be decided I could only have a 1 year licence, until I proved that my condition was under control. Three years later they decided it was and gave me a 5 year licence. Saturday I went to renew, as I said, and they decided that they didn't like the "filling out" by the Dr and would only give me a 1 year licence!!
Let me say here - I Truly Love my Dr!!! He put in onset of disease (1966), date of last (2006) and I marched (drove) back to the Registry office, waited while the agent waited on hold for 15 minutes (supervisors/decision makers in another city), and Got Approved for 5 years!!! Finally!
As I said on Saturday - with no instances since I was approved for 5 years, why are they saying I would get knocked back to a 1 year licence? DUH!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hope you have had a lovely day. Happy Birthday Betty.

Karen, Hurray for going home. Take care of yourself and follow the Doc's orders.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I posted this to FB today and the response is un-believable. One thing my family knows beyond any doubt, Is the love Walt and I have for them. He never needs to proove anything to me. I know with every fiber of my being that I now owe my very life to this man who stood guard over me every minute. I was in great danger and he protected me

One month from today will be our 55th anniversary. I cannot thank this man of mine enough for the loving care he has given me. I'm not sure I would even be here had it not been for him standing guard. I love you with all my heart and sole for the wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather you have been. How very lucky this family is to have you

Glenview, IL

Sigh and sigh again Susan!
I'm glad you got that straightened out. Yep loving your Doc.
I truly love ours as well. Shaking my head as my blood is curdling. What the sam hill is going on?? So we finally got insurance, received a letter in the mail saying we would be covered 3/1/15-whenever. So I made this appointments because I need a refill. The Nurse/person aty the desk calls the insurance and they don't have me listed!! And not only that but My health center isn't a part of the their net-work, well they are but, not our choice!! HUH?!? So now we have to figure out where or who is in our network!! not happy, I broke down and My great Dr "never saw me" We simply had a discussion, no tests, nothing. Sweet my prescription is ready: good for a year! Advised I go as soon as I can when I figure out where, so they can check my blood and such. He said that's what he would have done because I am taking meds.
So I promised I would and I will. I checked it before I left this afternoon it at 1:42 it was 115/73 pulse 57 after the check in it was 180/? So frustrating...Ackk gained 10 lbs.

Hands on the hips: Linda Kay, that would be my son. He said he'ld rather feed them instead of having them chow on the Japanese Maple and other plants. We get quite the array of natures furries...We live very close to the Forest Preserves which also has The Des Plains River, just up the Rd. We could walk. So that is how they are so close...ROFLOL, the last time I made a hike was when Cedrick came to visit.

Great photo Thunder! lol who's Exile?

M, hope you found Lorna's paper.

OK Ive been trying to type this with birds gone nuts all over me while txting with Julia about her Wedding dress..(no decision just browsing at ideas) lol then got a txt about some picture
I sent her on feb 19, lol she just now got them? Help I think I've gone crazy!

I'm going to have a beer..it's 530 somewhere.

P.S. Debbie, Girl if your bruises look darker that because Theses arms a squeezing you too tight. ok I'll loosen up. Write away, I've been worried about ya!

Betty, sure hope your day was wonderful.

Glenview, IL

Karen, I'm in nice tears. May your Love continue on in good health.

Betty I am so happy to read you had a great day. Glad to see Noah was up to kidding around. Is Mel still off of work?

Chaos had his first time out this afternoon. What a sight.... of course I didn't have my camera with me. Diesel and Duke were quite amused.

Weather Liars are calling for a storm tomorrow. All I can see are mounds and miles of snow. I am so over winter.

Karen you made my heart go pitter patter..... Happy Anniversary.Warren and I had 42 years together when he died. Like you I loved and respected my husband as much on our last day together as I did when we got together. What lucky ladies we are!!!

Judy I bet that beer tasted great. You earned it sweetie!!

Oh Thunder my parents loved Busch Gardens. They spent hours there every year until my brother sent them to Hawaii for the winters. Dad kept telling me Hawaii had nothing on Busch Gardens Chuckled about your comment about the band. I have been offered a ticket to see AC/DC this summer. Not so sure I want to see these guys live.

Last call for the pups. They are here with their leashes in their mouths.

Sweet dreams everyone.

Betty, a little late on your "Happy Birthday" or I am way early for your next one. Sounds like you had a wonderful day.

Karen what a wonderful way to fell about your husband. And what a wonderful man to stay and keep you safe all of that time in the hospital. So glad you are home. You will get better much faster at home.

Mary nice to see you check in.

Diane, why was Chaos in time out.

Just had a neighbor drop by. I will return. Sharon

Verona, ON

Sharon he was terrorizing Duke. Chaos was just full of P and V and wasn't listening to my commands or the warning Duke was giving him.Diesel my soon to be 3 yr old Rottie has never been in time out - he is a very calm boy. Duke on the other hand (he's a GS rescue from Kentucky) is highly active and if I don't catch him before he reaches what I call his 'zone' he is bouncing off the walls. I have a piece of carpet in a certain spot that is where they go for time out. Sometimes Duke puts himself there or in his crate before I say a word.

Betty are you up? No sleep for me tonight I fear. Big ole moon out there so the coyotes are out prowling and howling.

Sue when you say the kids had a 2 hour delay for the bus is because 'they' are concerned about weather conditions? Here there is no such thing - either the bus runs or not at all but the school is still open.

Think I will have a hot chocolate with a shot of something in it - maybe that will help me fall asleep.
Dianne and her Thundering Herd

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

Sun is trying to shine, FrankieFlowers predicts snow in my region bit freezing rain further south.

Dianne I can just imagine the antics those furries put on for you, be wonderful once they can spend more time outside. Hooe you managed a few hours of sleep.

Speaking of sleep, Karen how did you make out sleeping in your own bed..loved what you wrote about dh, you are one lucky gal

Thunder, being older than you I don't remember the band..am sure you were thrilled to be there and see them.

Judy, what is the next step to getting properly covered?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

God bless your DH Karen. It is positively wonderful when we have husbands like yours and mine. They are true jewels and we are so very fortunate. I imagine you are so happy to be home and your live-in relatives had better toe the line or you should toss them. You don't need any of their laziness now and I hope they don't expect you to take care of Amelia anymore.

Glad you had a special day Betty. Hearing Noah laugh had to be the best sound ever....

Going to dinner tonight with Brandon!!! He is home for the week. I guess his Dad said he would fly him home if he got good grades and B got all "A"s.... It will be great to see him. He flies to Florida in three weeks for regional competitions. And then here in Mass in May for Nationals. We have reservations to go see him when he comes then.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Chaos sounds like a little stinker, but I am glad to hear you put in time out so he can learn!

Barb, sounds like Brandon is doing very good in his classes. I know you will enjoy his visit.

Betty, it looks like the week end will be pretty good for your trip.

with USA $$$ given to me by family/friends I'm looking forward to getting to Joann's this weekend..let's hope it doesn't change..getting homesick for Buffalo, almost my 2nd home lol

oh Barb what wonderful news, Brandon will be a champ, he has set goals and is achieving them..enjoy your time with him.

when I got to Greg's last night Noah was on the phone with Kyle, seems it's a ritual, few hours of gabbing every day..

Noah was BAD though, while greg and mel were at work he took his snowmachine out..said he went really slow but needed to be on it..he was in trouble with parents..I gave him the what for as well

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Give him the what for from us too.Is Noah back in school?

Don't forget to print your coupons for your shopping trip!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - why did Greg & Mel not want Noah on the snowmobile? I suppose he's still very very sore, and they were concerned about it. What's the Dr say about his moving around?

Someone please push me out the door to DO things outside of the house...... I only went out yesterday because I had to see the Dr about my driver's medical, but usually it's a struggle to get out of the house even on drop-dead-gorgeous days. That's when I manage to go to the mailbox (attached to our home). Mind you, you telling me to get out........ well, I"m more likely to say "I will" and just not actually do it. I'm stubborn that way lol
It's minus 22 Celcius atm, and bitterly cold. We'll see, when the sun comes up, and it's coming up now. It's supposed to get to -9 and by Saturday get to plus 10. Gotta love Calgary's weather. btw - too lazy to convert the temps lol

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, keep an eye on the weather for sure. We have weather warnings today and tomorrow for snow and ice. Predicting outages for power and rough traveling.

Keep me posted.

I am sure have the intense surgery inside his abdomen, they want it all to heal before he goes bouncing around on the snowmobile. If he were to fall off....could cause major trouble. Is so hard as he wants to breath fresh air and be a kid again.

Karen so glad you have a hubby that is a good guardian and care taker. Melts my heart to hear of such wonderful love .
Betty i m sure Noah wanted to get past his fear of the event that took place ? Sounds to me he wanted to conquer it ? . But yes he should talk to mom and dad before he attempts things.
LOL yes 2 hr delays for freezing rain last night. We are such wimps compared to you guys in Canada LOL.
Barb have a great visit with Brandon.
Dianne my goodness those critters of yours are sure entertainment LOL so cute.
not much here. going to the gym.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I agree, Debbie - healthy to want to "be a kid again", but scary for Greg and Mel. Trying to put myself into both places - parent and kid........ it's not easy for either........

Victoria Harbour, ON

he is not to lift anything more than 5 lbs for next 3 months..if he ever got stuck in a snowbank or machine tipped he'd really be in trouble..he's been cut up so much inside that dr's say it will take most of the year to be totally healed and must be watchful.

big sigh, let's all just count the days until there is no more snow

girls are busy finishing their pieces, looking great
now they want to do the snowman runner..think I've got them thinking xmas

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yeah, it will take a lot of healing.
It's got to be tough for him though. It's been awhile, but I DO remember being a teen......... you think you're invincible.

just got this e-mail from Jeff

"I did not forget your birthday!!!!!!!

Last minute Julie and I decided to go to Mexico as its been a crazy month for both of us.
We flew out early yesterday morning and was hoping to get in touch with you when we landed but then concierge was closed and couldn't get access to Internet until today. Know your son loves you and we'll do something special when I get back'

love you mom"

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

awwwww how sweet of him :-))
I know you were happy to hear from them

Victoria Harbour, ON

been happier had he invited me to go lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That was nice of him to send you the email. Glad they got out for a vacation, and yes, it would have been nice if you could have gone with! But I don't recommend Mexico for anyone!
Too much crime there with all the drug cartel taking over every business!

Victoria Harbour, ON

He does business with a company down there, they suggested high end hotel in secured area from what I've been told. Greg leaves tomorrow, Mel's friend will stay at their house to look after Ned and Sophie.

Oh Jean I am so sorry for your loss. Maxi cat was 1 handsome devil!!

Dianne

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks for your kind words. The other 3 cats know Max is gone. They won't go outside unless I am with them. Max was born a feral kitty under a large azalea in our back yard. Took almost a year to get him "domesticated" and he took his forever nap under the Camellia in the back yard.

Mia(19), Bob (10) and Squatch (4) keep wandering around looking for Max.

Jean people do not give animals enough credit for their intelligence and emotions. When Quill my choco Lab died Diesel carried her quilt around the house until I couldn't stand to see him so upset and took it away. Nice looking kits you have there.
