She is beautiful! Amazing how fast they grow up!

Glenview, IL

Good Morning and Happy Friday!
gosh where to start?

Barbara, Ohh, re-arrange for new furniture is exciting! Hi to Norm and you both be careful!

Awe, M your DGD is beautiful! Nice Gord is able to go to Cronie coffee! glad hes feeling better.

OMG!! The Sun, the sun is shining for the moment!

Linda Kay, Thank you for the pics and sharing that video! Had us laughing!
I watched it a couple times, trying to understand what he was saying,..
But wow, what a beakie little thing, huh. Also, I think that bird must be older and well trained.
He never touched all those wires.
Pegasus is pretty verbal when he wants their attention, and too funny because he too will run away and hide, when he doesn't want to do something. I love when they bounce and flap the wings. He goes wild when you find a ticklish spot, under the wing pits...

Speaking of birds, Yesterday, I was sitting at the table typing away. All birds were caged.
Well, As I was typing, directly at my ear a woosh went past, A little while later, Another flutter of wings flapping. I swear, My skittles has been visiting me, or maybe it's Feathers, but I really think it's Skittles, and I think too he is teasing the other birds. Very often I see them craning and bobbing their necks at nothing apparent to the eye. Sometimes, Petrie is sitting on the top deck and will literally duck, scream and finally fly a swoop. At first this kind of freaks me out but then I just say hi skittles, settle down, I have felt him many times but this time it was just so audible, I literally got up to check that the cages were locked...

Or maybe I just have deep Cabin fever? lol...When the decorations start animation, I'm out of here!

So, My gosh...Maybe because of boredom, I started typing my story. Well, geese I haven't really written in such a long time. I have forgotten how it can take so much time. LOL, I am talking actual words, not abbreviations and acronyms and full sentences and punctuation.
And oh yeah, I am old school, I still get up and use my very well worn dictionary.
So I started this Memory story, Which reminds me, I need to upload a dictionary on this laptop.
4.5 hours later I only got past the first night of the visit.
Sorry, just rambling on this morning. Better go get coffee and make toast or the birds will start their noise! All have gone bezerk in the last couple days, Yep Spring is on the way, woohoo for that.
Be back later! Enjoy the day.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Judy .. I would think it was Skittles flying by on wings of love and remembrance .. kinda cool the other birdies get freaked ..

Been out twice with my 'THUNDERING HERD' .. didn't last long as their paws got cold after about 10 minutes .. had a great conversation with the 2 Crows that hang around here .. they got their toast and were happy.

Attaching a pic of Brooklyn that is in the right format ! I posted the pic I initially got from DS .. I turned it the right way and didn't delete the first one .. DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Betty .. how's things looking for Buffalo?

Still no word from Karen. I pray she is doing well.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Morning all, sorry I havn't popped in too often. They actually keep me pretty busy here. I'm up and walking a lot. A bit difficult as I wasn' t that good at it before. Diabetes has my legs pretty messed up. Food reeks here, always has. Just did some PT and was told I'm doing well. No escape date as yet. Really behind in my sewing. Guess I'll be getting behinder. Many thanks for all the good wishes.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Starting to fret, thought maybe one of the kids could have had an e-mail or text address to send word..let's hope she's giving them a run for her money and they find her well enough to send home beginning of next week...

"M" glad that Gord could get out with his friends today, makes his day I'm sure

sunshine here as well

from standing ironing and cleaning kitchen cupboards mega pressure in the back so sat on the couch to enjoy sunshine rays..lordy it feels good

not complaining re health, after what everyone is going through I know mine is minor and I'm a complainer lol

Sue enjoy your leisure day, don't get up till the kids come home from school..its a well deserved rest.

again "M" your granddaughter is stunning, beautiful young lady, her boyfriend Kyle is a looker as well. Hard to believe it's prom time already

Barb am anxious to see photo's of your apartment once done..don't show me photo's of what you are purging though or I'll want to drive over and pick it up.

Judy, so glad you are back writing..loved your stories and you can feel excitement/sadness when you post..such a way with words...sunshine here as well!

2 loads of fabrics washed/ironed/measured

YAHOO .. sounding good Karen ..
If I were closer I'd make ya a PASTIE .. better than hosp food fer sure !!
Delighted to hear you're getting along ..

Waiting to make dog food .. I have cut up the veggies, but Gord is bringing home the apples.
I tend to think this just might be coming to a halt after doing it for 8 years .. find some GOOD kibble and call it good ..
Thing is, our Westies have NO skin probs (Westies are prone to them from food allergies to kibble)
BIG decision ..

Best get on my way

Glenview, IL

Hi Karen so very glad to see you!!
LOL, Sounding good and raring to sew, very good sign.
Big Armwraps and take it slow.

Thank you...i'ld like to it's my little cutie.

Awe Betty, Thank you. discovered I miss writing.
I can't believe it's already afternoon, no wonder I'm hungry. Chicken rice soup anyone.
rolflol, so I was asked to fix crock pot chicken...easy peasy toss all the named ingredients in
a pot plug in. My favorite kind of meal. So I was chopping up onions, pretending I learned something from Chef boy R Jake! I was a pro at the chop part. Scooped all the pieces carefully onto the blade. Approaching the pot with my prized pile of onion, blade hit the edge of the pot, sending bits of onion all over the counter. Betty crocker I am Not!

Sue are you enjoying your day your day of relaxation?
My morning has been busy with a bit of everything...
Now I am going to sit down and watch Survivor!

be back later.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaaaaaaay Karen's posting! So good to see you - we've Missed you, girl!!

Happy to hear that Gord's well enough to go out with his cronies :-)
SO had to lol when I saw you offer to make pasties for Karen, followed directly on by "waiting to make dog food" - hahahaha Which would you do first, and could the dogs & Karen tell the difference? (couldn't resist that giggle). I know they'd Both be good to eat, by the appropriate warm blooded people or furry lol

Judy - sun shining - yaaaaaay
I'm sure Skittles is with you - driving you and the other birds crazy, as per usual lol
I know that I'M having deep cabin fever...........
I know, because I'm making Stupid mistakes in my knitting. Taking back, or starting from scratch, as per necessary lol

Time for me to head out to get my driver's licence renewed - before March 1st (birthday month).

Victoria Harbour, ON

Holy smackers, no hair left, easy oerm for sure
It's ok, will make it easier to to look after

"m" can't believe how much effort you and Katie put into making dog food..hard decision to stop but it would make things easier for you. How did Gord enjoy his outing with the guys?

Judy you don't need to be Betty Crocker with that handsome chef in the house..

Susan, you will never finish your knitting if you have to keep pilling it out..what is distracting you?

Rita is coming for supper at 5;30' guess I'd best make sure I don't burn it

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I have no idea what's distracting me
other than getting excited that Susan could be here in 2 weeks! Yesterday she went to the Post Office to Talk to someone about her passport - listed that she wants to fly on March 11th, and they said she would be able to get passport in 1 to 2 weeks.... maybe in 1 week. Dunno how the prices will go at last minute...... they're good now. I AM getting excited. If not the 11th to 18th, then it would have to be week later, because she Has to be home on 22nd for her dgs's 5th birthday..........

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Of course it was Skittles Judy. (hugs)

Hope her passport gets there on time, Susan.

Have a sweet evening ladies, and a safe weekend.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Jean :-)
Susan should have mailed her passport application in lol They would have started to process it by now (decided she'd come here, about 3 weeks ago, but thot it would be faster to get an app't and walk it in...... little did she know that she had to make an app't, to get an app't to see a rep, to apply for her passport - go figure, eh? Post office would have been quicker........)

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

TGIF and .. temps to be awesome this weekend .. maybe +2F ... YAHOOO ...

Susan .. how exciting for you to be having a DG guest .. hope you have a wonderful time .. will you go to Banfff?

Betty, always am kinda weird after a haircut .. just feels odd .. but, it doesn't get in my eyes during the night .. hair is longer right now, and I find myself waking up and trying to get to get it out of my face ..

Busy weekend .. think I'll take the dogs out and get to bed

OH .. Gord did well today .. and .. the Cancer Clinic called and we see the oncologist on March 4th ..

Night night

~M~

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good news on the quick appt. M. As always, good and healing thoughts. Glad Gord had a good day.

Susan, it may have been a bit of delay to make sure she had the money available. The passport runs about $110 and expediting fees can run between $25 and $60+...good thing Canada , like some countries, doesn't require you to have the passport for 6 months before entering the country .

Victoria Harbour, ON

Didn't realize that Jean about some countries wanting a person to have it months before. We as well pay an expedited fee for getting one quickly
So glad I got mine this year and it's good for 10 years

You will have so much fun Susan
What have you planned for her visit?

"m" how do you rate the wrm temps? They were saying this February it's been the coldest since records kept..when averaged out it was -12 below seasonal temps
Bet gord is tired after his day out..great news on the cancer clinic appt

Rita just left, kitchen cleaned, having coffee, drats she brought two deserts, a cake and a container of strawberry delights..here I thought I'd stay away from sweets and I've all this to eat.

Body says it's bed time

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I am wiped out!!! After going for a blood draw this morning and then picking up my new computer desk, Norm and I swung through Burger King for lunch. Then we tackled putting together the new desk. This will never, ever come apart!!! There are enough screws and fasteners to it that it should never even get the least bit wobbly!!! It took us three hours to put it together. It is is really two desks in one...
Had dinner and visited with a neighbor for a while.
Anyway the living room is finally coming together. I will take a photo or two in the morning to show you....

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

My upcoming guest, Susan
1. she is not from DG. I met her in June 2013 in an online game we both play. I WILL introduce her to my DG friends though. She is a bit shy, but not as much since she met me lol
2. I don't know what the weather will be like when she arrives, so don't know what we will do. I will take her to some of my haunts, but she isn't a church goer, so that kind of limits those LOL
3. She's lived in the Atlanta area all her life and has had this job for years, so I don't believe it's a "money issue", making sure she has it. She has paid to expedite her passport and paid the initial fee.
4. Banff? not sure - hadn't really thought of it.
5. I may show her some of my quilting skills, etc. She's not a craftsy person, but would love to see what I do. She said maybe I could show her how I would use my loom.......lol we could learn together. She's very interested in the stuff I craft. I've been knitting and sewing while playing the game, and sent her pictures of what I've made. I told her - "bring some of your fav material, and I could help you make a lap quilt". Y'see, she gets really cold, very easily, and needs to have a lap quilt over her lap while she's playing on the computer :-)

Right now, I'm on the 3rd edition of the right hand of the fingerless "wraps" I'm making for her - got the left hand done, and read the instructions wrongly for the right hand - started making the left hand all over again lol That "threw me" so when I started over, I purled when I should have knit, etc etc....... anyway, it's working now, if I concentrate lol I've just recently (last July) gotten back into knitting..... and I think I'm doing pretty well!!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

BOINGgggggggg .. I'm up ..
Piper decided to use my head for a pillow .. couldn't move him, so got up and let them all out, now, I'm up eating a banana!!

Your visitor will have great time whatever you do . Calgary has so many neat places to go ..

Think I'll go and play a game or 2 of Scrabble ..

YAWN

Had a not so good night last night. Today's nurse has promised to find my bed. They had said I had to use the special bed right after surgery but could have my regular bed in a couple days. It was supposed to be parked at the end of the hall for me but of course has gone missing Sounds silly doesn't it but I' m really not sleeping.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear your not sleeping Karen. I hope they find your bed soon!

mulege, Mexico

Karen, it's really hard when you can't sleep well right after surgery. That happened to me after the lumpectomy - had a roommate who was in a lot of loud pain, had talky visitors and loud "helpers" who stood at the end of my bed to talk to her - like I wasn't there!! She was having such a hard time I didn't say anything but was glad to get back to sleeping in my camper. I did give her my teddy bear when I left and hoped it comforted her a bit. Do you have a stuffed animal with you. I always take one when I have surgery. When I had one of my hand surgeries they left my stuffed lion next to me for the operation and the doctor bandaged the lion's paw!!

Anyway, hope you are able to get some good sleep soon as I know how much better that will make you feel.

Mosquitoes are starting to hatch out here. I know I'll get lots of sympathy from those of you in the north. My grapefruit tree which did not produce any fruit last year is now blooming. My dependable lemon is full of blooms. It produces lots of fruit every year. One of the few yellow lemons in this area. Lots more aloes are opening up and there are lots more in bed. Glad we moved the two truckloads of them here last year though it was hard work at the time.

Speaking of sleep, I crashed and burned last night. Think I slept about fourteen hours. Still dealing with fatigue and hot flashes on a daily basis. When I'm in bed reading and watching TV I can sit up and look out at the Mulege River which is lined with palm trees and is very beautiful, especially after all the rain we've had in the past two weeks.

Max continues to be less and less jumpy. He hardly ever snaps now even if he is startled and if he snaps he doesn't (usually) try to bite. Needless to say, I am still cautious but enjoying that he's much more playful and cuddly.

Having coffee and thinking of looking for a book as my energy level is still low, Finished a Joseph Wambaugh true book yesterday. I'd read some about the case - it took six years to bring two killers to justice - they murdered a young woman and her two young children. think I'll look for something a little more upbeat. I had a few cases in which children died or were severely injured from abuse or neglect. Luckily, I also had a few in which they were saved though that doesn't even out the abuse.

Tony is here. He ahs been working a lot in the new garden and we have lettuce and beets. My parsley is doing well and I've taken a few bunches to my friend Saul for his store. Like the yellow lemons no one else grows it here and the Americans like it.

I have little trees that should go to permanent homes but it's not happening today.

hugs, katie

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

New pups are settling in, I'm going crazy. They pester the older dogs constantly, but they have finally learned to avoid the cat! My house is a shambles, they will not leave the quilt on the sofa, I've had to rehang curtains, bathroom towels are always on the floor. Anything they can pull on, they will. Anything that can be chewed up in to little pieces and left all over the floor, they'll chew. They're not too interested in all the squeaky toys, only in things they shouldn't be touching! But, they're only babies for a short time, I keep telling myself.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

When we had puppies, I kept a squirt bottle handy, and any time thy got into something they should not be in, they got squirted. That worked pretty good.

Katy, glad to hear your getting some sleep. Sounds like your garden is coming along retty good.

I live right on the border of Mexico, and a lot of restaurants here they do not serve tea with lemons, they will give you limes. I guess that is all they use in Mexico? We have lemons in the store, I don't know why they serve everything with limes.

been up since 6 am. and heading out to basketball again. we volunteered and are going back to watch the game
Karen sorry to hear your not sleeping well. hope you can get the bed and some sleep.
got to run

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Barb, I am about to eat the last of my snowman heads. Have to say THANKS, again. Yum.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Afternoon

Did a bit of sewing and enjoyed a nap!

Aunt Muriel and mom dropped in for a visit, mom was anxious to leave as she is helping aunt Muriel crochet blocks for a baby quilt she needs done for Tuesday..aunt Muriel left with 6 yds of white blue fabric which she will use as curtains for her pantry. See all that fabric is finding a home.

When leaving both said they hoped we could go to buffalo on the weekend.. "need passport " is all I said.

Drats Karen, you need your sleep, here is hoping you can get home soon, you will sleep better in your own bed.

Katie, they use green lime in our water/drinks here..now did you plant this lemon tree from seedling?

Sue this weekend is your last weekend for basketball right? Now. What will you do with all that extra time on your hands? lol

Deb, sure sounds. Like you've your hands full with those pups...takes a person just to pick up after them...

"m" did you enjoy your alone time this aft?

LindaKay, I try the water bottle spritzer on missy when she is at the couch, doesn't work

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

So glad you enjoyed them Thunder. I never dreamed you could make them last this long though!!!!! LOL

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

BOO :-)

Got lots done while the 'cats were away' .. laundry done, cake made, dogs played with, some dusting and a few phone calls answered and made.
Gordon and Lorna enjoyed the Outdoor show .. glad they went, had I gone, well, they'd have been dragging me as I don't really like venues like that ..they bought tickets for chances on various kinds of power equipment, quads etc .. if the phone rings tomorrow around 5pm, well, who knows :-)

Karen .. is it a special 'mattress' that you're to have at night?
Hard to keep track of them .. ya put'em in a special rom, with a note DO NOT REMOVE and, invariably the mattress goes awol!

As expected I am tired after not sleeping last night ..won't lay down though .. make tonight even worse were I to do that ..

THANKS for the 'brain worm' Katie .. LoL .. have had Harry Belafonte singing 'Lemon Tree' in my head most of the day ..hahahaha .. hey, at least he's cute :-)

Off I go

~M~

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

They found my bed! I'm excited. I just don't like and don't sleep well on one of those electric adjusting beds. I like the old fashioned beds.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hurrah on the bed Karen, now for a good nights sleep. Have you talked at all as to when you can go home?

"m" glad you not only got to mellow out today but got much accomplished

Now you tell me about not napping or I'll not sleep tonight, dozed off, woke as I could feel the temps getting colder in the room..going for a hot bath and hope I find some energy to work on a project afterwards or if the bed looks more inviting I will head there

Katie - I "hear you" on the stuffed toy brought to the hospital. I've done that too - gives you the comfort you had when a child, because even as adults hospitals can be a scary place. Just watched a movie called Gooby about a teddy bear that came to life for an 11 yo boy because he needed comfort, help and a friend, after a move to a new place. Very sweet movie

Karen - happy you got your bed back!
