Here is some info on cat/dog age equivalency I had these on hand as I was searching for this info a few days ago. I have 88 y/o cat and a 92 y/o cat and a pair of 72 year old Beagles. The other two cats are 32 and 52..

I sent Katie an email - I have it, because she's emailed me in the past :-)
Now, here's hoping she's well, and replies.......

I'm still a little stiff and sore, but def on the mend........ my bruises on my left leg are trying to "meet" each other - my knee bruise is getting bigger and changing colour, as is my ankle bruise. I've now gotten one showing up on the front of my calf - I know, it takes awhile for all the bruises to show.....

I have an online friend on another site (not DG or "that other site") who wants me to inspire her to quilt again - so I sent her pics of quilts that our "both" sites made - Boy, this has gotten my creative juices flowing. It's a good thing I can get to my sewing table again lol

We had a tragedy on 75. An overpass fell down and killed a man. Then a JB Hunt semi rammed into the overpass, but luckily he wasn't killed. He must have been standing on those brakes trying to stop that rig. This happened about 10:30 last night and they're saying that 75 will probably be closed for at least two days.

This was in Cincinnati. It's at a really bad place, too. Sure am glad I wasn't out there last night and glad I don't have to head that way anytime soon.

M, your Smokey has a beautiful coat. I'm glad he's feeling better.

I had garden club today. We made potpourri. Now my hands smell like the oils I used. It's been a beautiful day here. Got up to 50+.

mulege, Mexico

Hi - I'm back. Must catch up on what I've missed but want you to know I'm OK. Sort of. Phone and internet were out for a week and Tony got the runaround trying to get it fixed. I finally said, "Tell them I've just had surgery for cancer and I need my phone." That got their attention. They had tried to tell Tony "everything looks fine; doublecheck everything at your end." ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH.

So I've been have horrible hot flashes and no energy - and mosquitoes. It's cold so they are all coming inside.

I'm not in a good mood but I'm back and gradually getting better. I think being really mad is an improvement but it's still not fun.

hugs, katie

So glad to see you post Katie, was fretting big time as were the others. When I'll not having contact with friends has to be the worse. Sorry that gaining strength is taking longer than you thought it would..you've been through such a stressful ordeal and held it together that you are bound to have bad days,,glad you are back with us, missed you.

That is terrible new Joyce, surprising. More didn't lose their lives.

Boy your garden club are devoted to gardening.,how nice they have workshops
Bill won't be able to leave you alone tonight as you smell so good!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Finally back home....Had an appointment with my pulmonologist this afternoon. I'm feeling congested but he doesn't think it is serious.. It has been almost three years since my last x-ray so he ordered one. Hope to have results by the end of the week. I know if there is something serious, he will be in touch with me. He did change one of my meds. And of course, it is one that has to have insurance pre-approval. We shall see..

David is now at home. I spoke to his SO and she said he had pain on the ride home. 80 miles!
She gave him a pain pill and said she would call me in the morning and let me know how he does tonight. Much better than trying to have David call. He is terrible about communicating.

Off to have some dinner. Will try to get back later.....

Awwww, Riley, how sweet.

Yes, it's a blessing it happened when it did. Often traffic is at a dead stand still right under that very overpass.

Oh, good, Katie's! We were quite worried about you!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh wow Joyce, Cinci is my least favorite area of I-75, closely followed by Dayton. Further south, past Lexington it can get bad, it's so far between exits that if there is a bad crash you can just sit on the road for hours. Can't begin to count how many trips we've made MI to TN & back for over 20 years. 4 to 8 times a year, many on Christmas day, know where all the Waffle Houses are.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Ha! Wonder if you've been to the one by my house. We live a mile from exit 36 on I75.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

M they do see you, they just want to make sure you can talk to a stranger and you really want the position after hearing about it before they meet you. It's just like any interview, you answer their questions and they answer yours, if it's a win win at that point they call you in to meet you face to face. That's awesome you saw Chris and he is doing so good!! And look at the babyheads! How cute!! Glad Smokey is doing better! Hopefully Lorna will get her leg situation fixed, that has to be annoying!

I can't stand bad customer service!! Katie thank you for posting!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Did you finally get your call Crissy for the interview? Glad Joel is improving.

Mom called, my nephew who lives with her travels to work with his boss
Seems boss was killed in an accident sat/sun leaving 3 young children, he was 38
Wasn't sure but thought it might be snowmobile accident

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Most likely we have Joyce. It's what's open on Christmas day. Oh wait Middletown exit? Many stops there. It truly is about half way between where we lived down state and Lake City TN.(Now called Rocky Top) It's where we were supposed to meet to exchange my grands for visits but it actually only happened once. We ended up making the whole trip. I know, I know but we wanted the kids as much as possible.

M what a joy to see the young man turn out into a handsome, adjusted gentleman.
Betty yes there is hope. I was a kid who choose the wrong path of life. I made many mistakes through my adult life. But im a good girl today :) . its not a fun road for family to watch but we do get there eventually. There is hope. :)
Katie good to see you, glad your posting. I m sorry to hear your interenet is down. Glad it is up and running. Use the cancer card, don't be ashamed. It can speed up things up. Use it for the greater good LOL .
Cookie will that bridge block us from Jungle Jims ? . That was so sad to hear the news . The man who died leaves 4 children behind. :( he was young too.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaay Katie's back! Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, but happy that you've gotten your phone & internet back! How stressful, to be cut off from everyone! Tony's a jewel - he's such a good man to have around :-) How are his parents? I gather they're better now, because he's back to helping you..... or did I miss something?

Crissy - how do you feel the interview went?

Joyce - what a tragedy, and how surprising that more people weren't killed........ tough enough for the family of the man who did though. Those poor kiddies and his wife. I hope that there are folks who are helping them through this very stressful time. As it was a city road/overpass, I expect that the City will be doing something for the family......
A JB Hunt truck -seems they're mentioned an awful lot in this thread lately - several times for Crissy, and now once for the accident......

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Years ago I traveled as a courier for a medical lab. I had a CB radio in my car so the company could easily contact me. My route was a daily 200 miles, a fair amount on the interstate. I got to know a number of professional drivers over time. Even though the JB Hunt drivers would take a bit of ribbing (the trucks had governors on the engine to control max speed) They were some of the nicest folks and after a short time, they recognized my car, voice and "handle" (MoonDance). Nothing makes a driver feel more secure in adverse driving conditions than knowing that a group of friendly professionals have your back...or as they say..Keeping you in the rocking chair....

I can attest that the Hunt driver did everything he could to guarantee not only his safety, but also of those around him.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh, I know that the JB Hunt driver wasn't at fault - from the sounds of it, he almost ran into what Was the cause - and the fact that he avoided getting into another accident is testament to his driving.
and, btw - I was married to a trucker for a lot of years (about 20, of the 23 years we were married) and I know a lot of times it's the cars that cause the accidents, and a nicer bunch of people you couldn't find on the road (the truckers).

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Truckers are the knights of the road. Most of their problems are caused by idiot drivers. I like to stay with the trucks when I travel, if the weather gets bad I'll tuck in behind one and stay there. I feel it's the safest place to be. They can see further than I can, They can't stop faster than I can, and if anything is in the way, they will clear it out. I've driven through hurricanes following a trucker.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yes, I agree, Karen.
I used to think it was the snow plows, but I almost followed one into a ditch - he couldn't see any better than I could in the blizzard lol

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

We will not be going for a while to Kansas and Denver, Henry is having those posts put in his gums so he can wear his bottom denture and I have to get new dentures too and have this work done on the inside of my trailer by March. I hope to see my girlfriend in Oklahoma on the way. We have been friends on here for 8 years now so hope I can see her like I did Betty and Debbie. Things are looking up.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Grab your long johns girls, -30 this morning
Of course "M" and Dianne are colder or same

Was asked to make a tote for a dg member but I suggested a prayer shawl, been up cutting blocks so will concentrate on it today so that should't go tobuffalofridaynight or Saturday I can mail

Other than that, pretty quietness, starting to talk to myself, bad part, I'm answering

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Prayer shawls are nice too Betty.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning. Checking in briefly this morning as one of the things my doc said yesterday was that I can go out as long as it is not too windy and that I bundle up!!! So I am off to Joanns this morning. I haven't been there since last September!!!! Can;t wait.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Found a pattern this morning that is a shawl but has pockets so I will see if I can make that one or close to

Barb, you will be like me, not know how to act with people seeing you've been on your own for so long

Enjoy your outing and joanns has seniors day today

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks Betty. I'm looking forward to it.... Got my coupon in my pocket!!!!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

You're so very thoughtful, Betty.

They got 75 opened already. It didn't take as long as they thought because there was very little damage done to the road. Just a small pothole which they repaired yesterday.

Karen, I live at the Franklin exit. The Middletown exit is one down from me. We're the exit with the Waffle House! 😋

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Don't forget there are two swaps still open for sign ups. Come and check them out!

May be sending Smokey over the Rainbow Bridge today .. trying to grapple with the decision, sure ain't easy ...

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

heart goes out to you "M", not an easy thing to do
know you will do what is best for Smokey!

Betty, thoughtful??? got you fooled as well Joyce lol

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We actually don't stop too often at the Middletown exit much any more, it's gotten pretty crazy traffic wise. I also have a cousin who lives there. I'll be coming through in a few weeks, my aunt who was recently widowed wants to make a trip and I'll be driving. We'll be visiting family & friends in TN then going on to sister's in NC.

Still betting We've stopped at your waffle house.

Verona, ON

(((M))) I am grappling with the same decision. Streak is at the vet's right now and I am awaiting the (or perhaps I should say dreading) second call of the day. My goodness these furries grab our hearts and hold on tight.

Extremely cold here - close to -30. Hard to breathe out there. Barb you would NOT be going out here today. So happy to read you are able to make a jaunt to Joanne's.

well Karen you can almost see Joyce's house (maybe you can) when at the waffle house.

Dianne, they touch our hearts for sure..hard decisions

Sharing this, a friend sent it to cheer me up.
Smokey is still with us .. just can't make that decision yet ..

how lovely "M"

You will know when it's time
I remember Sailor, she was never without a ball, I threw it one day and she just looked at it, looked at me and I just knew what had to be done..sure miss the old gal

Verona, ON

M my sweet dad only sang 2 songs Puff the Magic Dragon and An English Country Garden. I can hear him singing it as I sit here. Thanks for stirring up a great memory.
D

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

It's really hard to love them enough to do what is best for them. Probably the toughest decision to make. When our Babe (black lab age 18) couldn't stand and laid there and wet, we could see the plea in her eyes. Ginny (golden age 13) had a stroke, we knew we couldn't save her either. Sam ( Siamese age 17) kidney failure. He passed on his own but we would have taken him the next day.
It was a very hard decision to get another pet because I knew, old as I am I will still most likely outlive them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nice memories Dianne,
any call yet from the vet? holding your hand while you wait!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm thinking Karen once the kitties are gone that's it for me

Verona, ON

No call yet Betty. They have him on an IV and are waiting for him to pee so they can test it. I am reluctant to go outside with the pups or bring wood in as I don't want to miss the call. Guess waiting for this phone call is like a watched pot.
