In my girl Liz's word, Gawd!! shaking my head...Just finished and We celebrated in victory! DH and I!! Balanced Our very messed up Condo Association Fiasco, The Big Hairy Deal!! So smiling, I figured out how to do Excel, sigh another b.h.d, Yah I am so giddy with delight! Big cheesy grin even, Our Balance matched to the exact $...
And so, this story begins with a past post, You may recall, I had mentioned- they are messing with the wrong people!? It was about bout 4 weeks ago, I couldn't say anything until Steve (My DH) did his research.
It all begins with Our Condominium Association, DH is the current President.
We have been involved in our building since our first apartment. Unit 504 owned and lived in for a year.
Rent it to this day. We've other property here as well. A nice Investment we always felt...
(Betty and Anne) might remember a tour of Sheridan Rd.(smiles to add to the memories.)
At one time, we did a number of functions, which included management to janitorial. When DH was so sick with pnuemonia (pfft sp?) I did all the maintenance. I think I've even said how I was temporary clean up couple/a while ago, lol I didn't mind it and people were glad to see me. Anyway...
We got new board members and a decision was made to get a Management Company to handle our Building. Everyone was happy with the decision, including us, 1997 .

Present, Dh is president of the board. He attends all meetings and continues to be active with all aspects of our building. I also will do whatever we need to work with. Eye brow raise, hands on the hips!
Turns out, The monthly records we've received are false...An act, we can only find back to 2010.

yes, you read right, Management has stolen over 42,000.00 from our building!
Guy became unindated with his personal spending? Who knows, what is scarey is Mgmnt cares for a number of buildings. We actually know because the clinch, Dh has received much of his work from this Company. We are very Thankful, all business with the Companies are associated with our Name.

...That was just a piece of the association between our company and management. DH was good friends with them. It's been so sad to see DH in such a predicament. However, Management made the mistake of payment cancelled due to non payment?! We've had report of bounced checks, which according to records should not have. Thus, Dh sprung into cautious mode! Getting on the Checking account, hello we never thought it...Afeter some further investigation in the numbers, we (DH) decided to notify the board and confront Mgmt.

Your thining reallly? lol I did too, shrug lets see what happens...

BIG HAIRY DEAL...DH, very tall, angry, straight lipped, looking down, What did you do???
Mngmnt admitted it!!! He stole the money.
Between Dh and him it was left with...Mgmnt will pay back the money, through a sale on a piece of property mgmt has, including the thousands in late charges that occurred, the pay the additional attorney fee...And so said, it is really up to the board weather to file charges...Meeting soon.
Big heavy sigh, this has been an experience and a half.

LOL, Our experience with this today was a pretty big deal too. LOL, between the 2 of us, 11 hours!
Oh yah...celebrate something!

So glad you were able to ferret out the problem ..

Have been sparse on here as Gordon is not feeling well, and I am concerned .... he fluffs it off, but, I personally think his abdomen is swollen .. he has a 'little pot' sometimes, most times though, he has no paunch .. his weight is USUALLY 190lbs (he's 6'2") .. it has fallen to 180 ..of course, we still are WAITING for appointments happening at the end of Jan .. one of them being an ultra sound of his abdomen the day before we see the oncologist .. I detest waiting !!

Afraid I am a lazy bones, Linda. Not sure why but I just don't feel up to snuff. Spent most of yesterday snoozing. Still have a bit of chest pains but don't think it's my heart seems to be more gas and indigestion related. Mentioned it to my Dr. and she seemed unconcerned said to take Prilosec. Guess I'll give it a try. Thinking maybe tomorrow hubby and I will go to mall for a bit of walking, feel like a slug.

Yep, it's been a crazy 4 weeks! Dh is always worried during down time, but with all this happening, it must have been meant9the down time) All concentration and time have been spent working on this. Geesh, I forgot how tell a story...
One of the major questions was Do we have insurance for this? DH made an appointment with the insurance guy. Turns out insurance guy knows the management well!! He was so shocked and full of disbelief. But he is bound by the client and cannot repeat what's going on.
Anyway building is not covered for Management stealing only by board. Something we will be checking into. For now we resume management until we hire a new Mgmt. He looked at the records of Dh's finding and said in fact we have a case...The next day DH had set up a meeting with Mgmt...He must have known DH knew something because he came out of the office with some paper trying to tell DH he relized he was overpaid a few time by some computer glitch! That's when DH nailed him. He said the man began to shake and revealed all. He even called DH later and left a message apologizing again. I listened to the message too.
He sounded pretty remorseful and ragged. And maybe relief. But yes we will get the return as Our lawyers were getting together to put a Lien on his property sold.
...This Board meeting, we will be presenting the new budget and discuss the situation.

Dh was going to do all this himself, I said why don't you let me do some of the checking. And I'll set up an excel program for it. LOL, our lawyer tried to figure it out but was lost. I at least know enough of the program to get us going for now. So that was the hour and hours it took to get it right.
I have forgotten how fun excel is to work with...Just an example, Management paid himself 17 times in 2014!! Our Lawyer was really impressed with the speed Dh had taken to find this out. He did so in 4 weeks!! And I guess now I'm finished with the story.
Tonight we finish our final work on the budget.

Judy, no one should ever be allowed to pay himself with a business like that. Even at the base where there are thousands getting paid every two weeks, it all goes through accounting and payroll, and those working in payroll, are not allowed to submit their own time cards.

Judy, that was worth the hours 11x2, Lordy what a find. That is more than a little theft, he should be charged and likely the board will agree. Hard to believe..guess with nobody noticing he thought he was free to spend.congrats on being so watchful

Well, When this Mgmt. was hired, they had a full office, which did include accounting and payroll. Today only the accountant remains which leaves us question that persons involvement.

Steve's last word to Mgmt, was it is now out of his hands, the rest is up to the board and the lawyers.

Yikes...now you got me questioning my weight too...I notice my muscles are on the loose again, mostly from sitting around. Decided as soon as weather gets a bit nicer, I'll take up walking again.

We are bird sitting again. just an overnight deal. So had a bit of playtime, whew they are all finally settled for the day...hear that? It's quiet.

I am overweight too, 182 at 5'7" 3/4 lol I was measured last fall and I have shrunk almost 2"!!! I'm only 42!!!! WHY OH WHY????

I had my phone interview with JB Hunt and I NAILED IT!!!! They want to see me in person on Wednesday at 10am!!!!!

They said the job starts low pay, at 23 or 25k a year, but I would be put in training for a year and every three months if I pass the test I will get a raise, at the end of the year I would be making almost 30k. At that point I can choose to stay where I'm at or promote to another position, if one I like is open, and that would start another year long training process where I would get raises every 3 months. I could keep doing this until I found the position I want to stay at. At that point I would just quit asking for promotions and would get annual raises.

Ok, I'm in. When do we start, Betty? I just brought stuff home to make a lemon blueberry filled cake. I'm having a birthday party for a friend in March and I want to serve this cake. The problem is I've lost the recipe so I have to try to recreate it from memory. It's not going to be easy. So this is my first try. I got a lemon cake mix, but I'm going to put a vanilla pudding in the batter. I don't want the lemon to overpower the blueberries. So it's gonna be trial and error. Wish me luck.

Now on the down turn, Joel called at lunch and said he feels worse than he has ever felt in his life. He has gotten physically ill from coughing 3 times this morning and we have a date to meet at an Urgent Care when he gets off work. He has insurance, thank God, but with no income we have to go the cheapest way possible and he can't get to the doc until the end of the week. If he gets off too late we will be going to ER. This is scaring me bad.

I have another job interview in 45 minutes, not too excited about it now as it's for a staffing company that has one job for a small company that pays $12 an hr. BLAH!

DH is pretty overweight. He stopped eating fast foods and that has brought his weight down.
Pop has an enormous amount of sugar...And instead of his heavy drinks he changed to drinking wine! lol.

I did that once...watched my sister Sylvia make her family famous potato salad. LOL actually at the building! She said she was only letting me see because I'ld never remember the recipe...hahaha, she was right, back then I could boil water for Mac and cheese, roflol from a box, Velveeta, thank you very much, lolol. Anyway, Years laters I through a very cool birthday bash for DH...It was an all day event. I literally served breakfast lunch and dinner. And as I began I closed my eyes and watched her in my mind, low and behold..it was right on and that was confirmed by Sister Bear, who wanted to know how come I had Sylvia's PS recipe! We laughed when I told her how I had to remember...

Ohhh Crissy, know my brother in law Robert had to be hospitalized just before Christmas, broke some ribs and blood vessels, Lordy his stomach/sides and legs were black, all from coughing with this cold so off to the doctors Joel must go. You are up on JB Hunt now Crissy, other job won't get you excited, maybe keep it on back burner until you hear.

Oh M I am right there with you - the waiting is soooo hard. We found once Warren had his first apptment with the oncologist things moved quickly and we never had to wait longer than a day for the next step. Often he was sent for an xray, Cscan or MRI and his new treatment plan began that day. After the first CC apptment I made sure I packed a lunch as we never knew how long we would be there. It was decided on Dec 23 that my guy would have to begin another round of radiation immediately. They kept him warm and comfy in the Chemo room making sure he had as many of the Christmas treats that were there as he wanted. We had arrived at the CC for an 8 am apptment and were finally able to leave at 5:30 - they squeezed him in the radiation rotation as soon as they could. Not only that they opened up Dec 24(Sat) and then again on Dec 26, 27 just so Warren could have his treatment. I am sure your CC will be just as great. Huge hugs for you and Gord and for Lorna too as I know she is taking every step of this journey with you both. I just know being a nurse and "in the know" has to be weighing heavily on you M. We are all here for you. So many of us have walked this journey with our loved ones so know what you are feeling and going through. Rely on us.... we won't let you down.

Had a friend who rode a bike to Sturgis, likely in her 30'sshe spent some time doing men's hairdo's, not quite sure how that worked. Think with the excitement of going the riding wasn't bad, it's the long ride home..if I remember correctly they had a lot of rain.

Shane came over and kept me company for awhile and I totally needed and enjoyed that.

BUT....to tell you how bad these last few weeks have been.
