~M~
If I was any closer...I would be there for pie!!! Definitely you need a piece.
You don't want my diet, trust me. Its a killer. I really do not recommend it
for anyone.
Oh Bev, So very sorry, Now she is at peace but it was terrible to not notify you, Gentle Hugs
Bev - yes, was it family, or hospital staff that didn't let you know?
Crissy - you & me, bud - hope we both get jobs we want.......
Betty - no pie for me - had enough baked goods over Christmas.......
Marilyn - knee's fine and the swelling from the Ibuprofen's gone down too. Going bowling tonight.
Now that the den is free of the "extra stuff" as in the loom pieces and the bench to go with it, my sewing machine table is able to open up (and now that Bob fixed the table which broke when I tried to open the table and the loom pieces were in the way......), I can do some quilting that's been waiting to be done for a long time.
Marlene says, for the weaving, that I need to start with something small, and simple.
The toughest part she says, is to keep the selvage edges straight. Have to tie them off as I go along, with the weaving.....
(((Bev))) I'm so sorry for your loss.
When lil injun came here for the get together in 2010, she got DH hooked on it for awhile!
Thank you Thank you THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!
Bev I am so sorry they didn't notify you, I would be chewing some people out!!
Yes Susan, it's us against the world!!! LOL!! Glad you got that out of the way so you can sew again! WHEW!
Katie... Katie... Where are thou Katie???
Debbie I'm so glad Shane is back to his 'normal' self, if there is such a thing as 'normal' LOL!
Here's an update on Joel:
Joel is very good about going to the doc, he doesn't fight with me about it especially respiratory issues, I'm asthmatic so I know all about how it plays out and he doesn't. He text me this afternoon and said he had to be at work at 8pm. I asked him if he was going to get off work at 4 then go back at 8, or if he was going to have to work straight through. He didn't know at the time, but it played out where I picked him up at today's jobsite (thank God it was local) and took him to Urgent Care. His co-worker said Yes please take him to the doctor, I just need him back this evening LOL! So my favorite doc there, Mr. Boom, wasn't there and he saw Dr. Barry. I don't know who that is, but this guy told Joel that he just is having a bad allergy to something. Then he decided to take chest x-rays. After looking at them for 5 good minutes he came back and said that his lungs don't look very good and prescribed:
Montelukast 10mg (pill form of Singular)
Benzonatate capsules 100mg (daytime cough pills, like DayQuil but stronger)
Liquid cough syrup with Codeine AND
a 5 day steroid z-pack.
We got to the pharmacy and Joel told our Pharmacist, Chris, that the Dr. Barry at Urgent Care across the street told him that he would have to go to WalGreens (next door) to fill the z-pack because it's too expensive anywhere else. Chris said, "But you have insurance." Joel said, "Yeah, I do." Chris said, "Then it doesn't matter where you get it filled AND him referring my people to Walgreens will cost him his Christmas present this year!" HA!! I piped up and said, "He also told Joel that he has nothing but allergies, BUT every single one of these meds is used to treat bronchitis and asthma!" Chris looked up from his filling job and smiled and said, "I'm noticing this!" LOL!!
I am glad to hear Joel went to the Dr. and got some meds.
Bev, I too am sorry to hear no one told you about your Sister passing. That is not good at all.
Betty, did you go to the Dr. today and get your meds?
well, it was an outing tonight, anyway........
I went bowling, and managed to get through 2 of the 3 games..... It's league and our 2nd night.
If you remember - my 1st night last Monday, I fell on the new lanes twice....
Then Wed fell to the pavement at home. Well, my knee's been doing pretty well, and I took a T3 at 3pm today, then another one at 6:15 before we left for bowling.
Wouldn't you know it...... my 1st ball (a strike, btw), I pulled a muscle in my left leg, well above the knee...... I"m a hurtin' unit now!! The T3's weren't working at this point, so Bob gave me a codeine pill - start of the 2nd game and he gave me another....... so, between 3pm and 8:30 I'd had 2 T3's and 3 codeine pills. They're not working!!!!!!
I finished the 2nd game, but sat out the 3rd.......
It's a certain way that you use your legs when you bowl, that causes me pain..... ouch, ouch, ouch.
We'll see how next week goes.......
Morning all
We will be looking for updates on jobs and health issues and those MIA's this morning
Saying prayers, best we can do other than holding each other's hands..
Susan, should you have even tried bowling? Seems excessive to me with a recent injury..
LindaKay I did go to the doc's
Said there wasn't much he could do except give a script for coughing
We talked about my hip, the said no doubt with all the arthritis in them, left worse than right
Gave me X-ray slip, wants to check my knees as well
After that I went shopping and bought 3 lovely tops, not that I needed clothing but thought it would be a change from from craft supplies
Did a wash/ironing already, shined my zinc and managed to get some projects lined up to work on..going to do another snowman quilt, need another tote for a swap and had so many Christmas blocks, most done, some 1/2 finished so surely they can become a project..not all for today, just organizing things
Best I get the garbage by the roadside
.
Oh my - I read yesterday for a while and had no idea how chatty you all were. I have a lot to catch up on.
First - please accept my sincere condolences Bev. I'm so sorry and even more so considering how thoughtless of them not to notify you.
Second - "M"s Gord and Karen and Crissy's Joel and Susan - sending healing prayers for all of you and any others I may have missed. Please take care and I pray you feel better quickly.
Third - Judy OMG! Thank heaven you and Steve have each other and could work together to find what was happening. I'm really proud of you. Please let us know how things go.
Fourth - Debbie, my heart is with you. I'll try to find an RC so I can raise a glass with you!!!
Hang in there girl, I'm in the same spot as you most of the time......
Fifth - Betty dear, did the doctor tell you to rest at all? That is what cures the body and don't seem to let yours rest at all. Love all your goodies but please slow down and make them last at least a couple of weeks.
And Finally, I once again thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my David. He did not go home yesterday because he spiked a fever Sunday night. Maybe today?? Haven't heard from him yet.
Please know I think of you all the time. Today is Dr day for me so off to make myself beautiful, Right!!!! Hope it is a good one for everyone
OH and Good luck on the job front for those looking!!!!!!
Morning everyone!
Betty, glad to hear you got some cough meds. Like Barb said get some rest, slow down.
Susan, sorry to hear about your pain, but I think you over did it with the pain pills, that much is not good for you.
Barb, thanks for the update, I pray that David drops that fever, so he can go home today.
Few more days Barb won't hurt David, sure he's getting antsy..how long with such an operation would he have to stay home from work?
Good luck at the doctor's Barb, hope it's a regular check up and you get an A+
so laughing, I do take it easy, you know how relaxing sitting and sewing
Just called mom, she must be out, told her I'd take her to Buffalo Saturday, know she needs to exchange her coat before she can't..the ones in the city could take her, only an hour's drive but no, I have to drive almost 2 hrs to pick her up and then drive her..sibblings..not the nicest
did say ONLY if good weather
Bitter cold out there,-24 without wind chill
I was a good girl, got the garbage ready, walked downstairs and went out basement door as the steps from the kitchen were all ice..aren't you proud of me
how are you feeling LindaKay, another trip this week to SanAntonio..sure wish I could meet you there..
Yes, I go back for my MRI result at the arthritis Dr. Then order a new pair of glasses. These are 3 years old, and things are getting to be a bit blurry at times.
Wish you could meet up with me too.

Good Morning!!
Betty glad you got the pain meds. I guess I'm happy that you're sitting sewing and not out running a muck all over town! LOL!!!
I have a phone interview this morning at 10 and I forgot who it is for. Oh well, they're calling me so I guess that it doesn't matter.
Oh Shoot, I have some assessment tests to take! See y'all later!!
Surely Crissy one of these positions will pan out..
is that the norm now Crissy to do telephone interviews? Through Skype or just telephone?
Been up for what seems like forever!!
COLD here as well Betty, but not quite as cold as you are, and, THAT is very unusual !
Our pusser, Smokey, has not been doing well the last 2 days, not eating , diarrhea , he DID drink this morning, and, it stayed down. So hoping he hangs in there, but, he IS 20yrs old .. it'd break our hearts to lose him ..
Gord is kinda staus quo ..
Susan, your bowels are gonna be hating you for taking all that codeine, better find some bran ..
Do hope the thigh and knee start to feel better ..
Crissy .. best wishes on the interview ..
Barb, hope David is released soon .. hospitals are 'buggie' places which is why they want you out asap.
Getting the day in order here .. kinda disjointed right now ..

Betty, it's just telephone, I don't have Skype. Some companies do interview over Skype, mainly ones who are hiring from out of the area. Some companies like doing telephone interviews first, especially for positions that require a lot of phone time, so they can see what a person's personality is over the phone. If someone is going to be on the phone 90% of the time at the job, they don't want someone who is shy and won't talk on the phone. I have only done a few phone interviews in the past couple years, most companies don't use them.
Barb I hope he can come home today, but I am glad he was in the hospital when he spiked that fever.
Bev prayers are being sent to you and your family,
I had several phone interviews while job searching. I hate them. I'm just not good on the phone. I had one in person interview in the 4 years I was looking. I thought I nailed that one. However the majority of the people there were black. They hired a black woman. Anyway, I survived. Didn't starve to death.
I'm wondering about Katie, too. Hope she's ok.
M, sorry that your Smokey isn't feeling well. I have a smokey, too. He's only a couple years old.
Betty - lots of telephone interviews nowadays - they don't want to waste their time away from their regular job and emails lol seriously........
My bowels are not bothering me from all the meds - just fine, that way.
I am stiff and sore today though. maybe in a good way? Had lots of ice on my sore parts.
All the housework I planned on doing this week isn't getting done. I will be able to sort through some quilting stuff today though
My friend / neighbour is taking me out for Chinese lunch tomorrow, for attempting to fix her WiFi printer issue. Likely give her a WiFi printer we have, because hers is Not working......
Interresting Crissy, you've yet to have yours this morning right?
Barb any news on David's condition, getting to go home?
Bev, thinking of you big time, drats, still can't believe it.
"M" 20 yrs old is quite aged for a cat right? here is hoping Smokey is on the mend. Bet you are on the countdown re Gord's appt. on the 28th
hmmmm, Susan, does Katie frequent any other threads that you know of? do you have an e-mail address?
that will be nice Susan, love a fest of chinese..haven't had any since we had our family Christmas.
Now I want Chinese instead of cold fried chicken!
No, they haven't called me yet, guess I got so excited over JB Hunt I forgot what time. Now I'm wondering if I had an interview anywhere at 10, I don't think so. I know JB Hunt's is tomorrow at 10.
I don't know how true this is, but a vet told me that cats age like dogs, and the bigger the breed the shorter the lifespan, normally they average around 15 years. It depends upon how they live too, and how they're fed.
then "M" is lucky to have hers with her.
Darlene had a cat that was 24 years old..
think Missy and Riley are about 10..
Boy is it nice out today. 78 degrees.
LindaKay, LindaKay....12F and sunshine lol
want to trade?
Yes it was her daughter but I knew she would not let me know but the nursing home did not. They sent me some beautiful flowers. Shamed I guess. I was there three times a week and her D never came to see her. Me and my man are going in a few weeks to let me have some time with my last sis Phyllis. I can't wait. After that we are going to Denver to see his son. Thank you for all the prayers. They do help so much. Love you all. BEV
I will keep my temps Betty!
Bev, enjoy your trip!
Oh Bev, he sounds like a wonderful man..she glad he found you!!!
for him to think you would like time with Phyllis shows what a kind soul he is..
give him a hug
Have you been to Denver before?
So much going on. Prayers being said for all those in need. So sad that your niece wouldn't let you know about your sister, Bev. Enjoy your trip!
I'm heading out to Colorado this weekend to pick up a puppy. Excited to see the pups, not real excited about the drive, praying for sunshine and clear roads!
I may not be back, my membership runs out this Saturday, and I'm really undecided about renewing. Other than lurking here, on this thread, I don't spend much time on DG anymore. Though I think I will miss hearing about everything going on, and seeing all the wonderful things that you ladies create.
Take care,
Deb
Oh Deb, do hope you renew
Always a place in our hearts and thread for you..
safe travels, worry about you being on the roads with it being winter but am sure you will check the extended weather forecast and not venture out or back should they say it's bad..
You must be so excited, a pup you'll not bring home, what a size last time we saw photo's
Dang, now I'm hungry for Chinese, and just had Greek for lunch. Felt good to go out for a bit. Had to pick up a few things and did some extra walking around the store just to get in a bit of exercise. Beautiful day not warm by any means but sunshine and no wind so felt good. Walked into the Greek restaurant and got hugs. I missed them too. Hubby ran in when he was bringing me home from hospital as I wanted lemon rice soup. They said it was on them and wished me a speedy recovery.
Bev that's so nice, glad you're going to get to go traveling and seeing family. You more than deserve it!
Deb I hope you renew also! I pay just to chat here and on another thread! No time for anything else, and even with no income here $20 a year is really pennies. No pressure of course LOL
Karen how sweet of them! Its so nice to go where you know you're loved!
Home again, home again ..
Yikers, never did make the walking thing at the BUBBLE .. we ran around Superstore for an hour and that wore us out .. Lorna's prosthetic leg is bugging her anyway, she sees the prosthetist tomorrow ..
Met one of DS friends from his teen years in the grocery store .. what a high .. all grown up, and SO handsome, and giving me major hugs ..
Chris was a troubled teen .. in fact, he lived with us for a couple of months when he was 15 going into 16 as he and his Dad did NOT see eye to eye .. he did move home, but, as fate would have it, and, not nicely ... he got in with the wrong crowd, made some poor decisions and ended up in trouble .. water under the bridge now .. he's about 40, divorced and, a NURSE !!! Made my year to see him .. texted Murray (my son) when I got outside and told him, he was blown away .. hasn't seen Chris in 15 years ..
Yeah, old Smokey .. he's lookin better. drinking water now, gave him a wee bit of cooked chicken too .. he's gonna be with us longer .. if just to torment the dogs ..
Just so curious about the telephone interviews, but, I can see the reasoning, were I a prospective employer, I'd like to SEE the person I'm hiring ..old school I guess.
Good to hear your doing better Susan ..
Is Katie's email on the site somewhere ?MAKING Chinese for supper .. ambitiois chickie huh LoL
TTFN
~M~
Attaching a pic of our Smokey :-) Joyce, your Smokey is stellar ~~~
HA! Only pic I could find was this one of the whole gang with Gord in the recliner ..
you have me smiling "M" look at that crew, can life get any better..
let's hope they get Lorna's prosthetic leg where it doesn't bother her..is she going back to do maintenance at the cemetery? won't be long will it and her holiday will be over.
What a day you meeting up with Chris
gives me hope that Noah can take the right path..here's hoping
speaking of Noah, must call him, have the ipad I had ready for him if he still wants it.
girls are getting ready to leave, I'm not the only one getting ready for Christmas..they are doing floormats, black tones, christmas trees with red balls..small crew, Aline is in Florida for another couple of weeks and they rushed Pat by ambulance into the hospital..she's now home..couldn't breathe..think it was a bloodclot..if they leave the matts I'll take a photo
I finished all the squares, about 224 to make a throw, now I just have to cut out a snowman to put ontop of it AND had a bunch of christmas squares, some big, some small, some unfinished, some finished so I worked on that..yippee, now I can quilt it, add some stars and nobody will know it was pieces ready for the trash can
Looks like Bev and Deb are traveling to Colorado! Please be careful, the weather can change quickly out that way in the mountains.
Asian food sounds good, wonder if I could convince hubby to run and gt some for dinner?
