receptionist told me that Dr. has had it for 7 weeks and unable to rid himself of it, nothing helps, just let it run its course..I said why make the apppointment then, she said perhaps I can get something that will ease the coughing and maybe make me stronger not to get it again..who knows

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh gosh! So much going on! Prayers for you all. Hope Barb checks in soon so we can stop worrying so much!

Hi,
Well geesh, what a start off for the New Year!!
I am so very sorry to hear of all the Illness going on.

Sending up prayer and Good Healthy vibes for all.

Barbara, I am so glad you'll get to see your Son. I sure hope all goes well with him.
Yes, your Norm is truly a Gem. I hope that you will use both mask and scarf for added protection from the cold.

So glad to here Gord's friends are coming to visit. Sure hope Lorna's appointments went well.
And how are you holding up? Sounds pretty busy, sometimes a good busy. I hope you are taking some M time too.

Sue, glad you are enjoying the fireplace. Did you and Sunshine get to meet up? Oh yeah, awesome machine! Hope you will be able to sell it for a nice return. We have always used Craigslist to sell our Autos anyway. Just however you sell it do be careful.

OMG, Linda Kay, so sorry to hear about Heather! Keeping her in my prayers.
What a horrific thing for a Medical person to say!!! Really just disgusting.

Thanks about DHs finger...No he thankfully didn't need stitches! Well, I bet they would have stitched it had he gone to emergency, but he felt it wasn't that deep...so cleaned it really well and butterfly bandaged it up. So far healing well. Will have a pretty ugly scar.

Betty, So did make an appointment anyway? Yikes, Hope your Dr. shakes that, and you too!
Yuck nothing like having the crud linger, so glad you're being sure to rest up. Although I'm not sure how digging your car out is resting, lol.
Oh, how pretty the quilt top is!
Well, Steve is still not back to that job site, hopefully soon. He actually ended up not bringing his tools. He locked them up in the basement of the site. He has duplicate upon duplicates of tools. Tomorrow he has a full day of "Honey Do" jobs....woohoo, and I ain't the honey! Yippy, I'll load your available tools even. LOL. He, very much like you, never stops. The up side is that This Honey, has gotten a lot accomplished since he's been "forced" to be grounded. Sometimes you just have to be thankful for a lull in projects, well that and a bunch of threats to cancel plans...You bet I would cancel in a heartbeat, the way it was.

Since he has been home, furniture has been shifted out or rearranged, he has purged most of his paper stuff, fixed out kitchen faucet that caused a small flood under the sink....Well and We had I think the last of our visitors! Our friends/cleaning gals Jen and Stepanie went to the Hawks Game with Steve last night, just left. I was glad Hawks won. Anyway we had a ball while they were here. And as promised, I made Jen breakfast! She has waited on us for years and it was nice to be able to wait on her. They had a Restful visit while here.

So I sure hope my routine resume to normal soon.

eye brow raise, should be a lot easier to get on line, Jake has loaned me his laptop!! Just hooked it up to wifi. Oh yes Betty, also wanted to tell you, about getting my Camera...
lol, we use boxes of any kind to wrap even a just a gift card. LOL, when I opened the gift and found that I actually in fact received a Cannon EOS RebelT3l!! I was literally shaking and burst into tears! All the kids the next day wished they recorded my reaction, hahaha. So my new subjects are the birds. What is super neato, Breenie has a fabulous Zoom lens and hers is a way better Canon but the lenses are compatible! So DH took it last night to the game...
So, I have been trying to type for a while, while getting used to this. Hmmm, I do like it. I can get used to it. He has one of the new 360 type! It can be a tablet as well as a laptop.

Ok, thought I lost my post, so hitting send.
Good thoughts with everyone.
Susan, crossing fingers on the job.

This part of the Hippocratic oath is the most "telling" paragraph which was ignored:
"I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick."

I've been having "fun" pulling pieces of the floor loom I was given, out from under my bed, to set it up.... yikes there's a lot of pieces!

I posted about my opinion on the other thread with the Obama Care. Yes it is crazy i do admit. I have to have it. :( i can't afford insurance,
Lk i m sorry to hear about her situation. that is crazy ! to not do something about it when they were in there ? uhg.
I remember when i was on welfare back way back in the day when i was pregnant with Jessica. The nurses at the hospital were not nice to me. Just because i had welfare. I was also a full time student and i worked part time.
Judy waving hi !!!! ~~~~~ how are your birds ?
wow Susan that is a project !

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Got home from the hospital a bit ago. My son needs a quadruple bypass!!! I sure wasn't expecting to hear that!!! No day scheduled yet but it will be this week. I guess from what we heard, he is one lucky young man. I wasn't sure what I would find when I got there but he is very upbeat about it all. Said he is tired of feeling punk all the time and is looking forward to feeling so much better. So I will ask for your prayers. Thanks dear friends...

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Wow that is a surprise Barb. Sounds like he's up for it and looking forward to feeling better. I was feeling pretty punk too, wasn't really surprised when the attack hit. Once he gets this behind him, it will make a huge difference for him.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

OMG! Barb, I'm floored! How old is your son? My dad had a single bypass and it went fine and he had many, many years after it as well. I'm praying for your son big time!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

David is 50 and he really is looking forward to this. Says he just wants to feel "good" again.....
Yes Joyce, hit me right between the eyes. I sure wasn't expecting this. But with everyone's prayers and the good Lord on his side he will do just fine. I can feel it.......

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Me, too!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks Joyce...

Glenview, IL

Oh Barbara, Prayers continue...
My goodness David is so young. I'm glad he is upbeat. That by itself must give you some relief. I hope they will schedule the surgery quickly. Big gentle Armwraps...

sending healing energy to your son Barb.
not much going on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Fell asleep on you all but here I am, checking in for an update and tummy churning after reading your post Barb.
what a shocker, even though David is up for it know you are terribly worried.
We will be here holding hands and praying.
Do hope it's scheduled quickly so the healing can begin.
We're you there all day? Don't overdo, he needs his mom not to be ill herself.
Relieved you have the Lord and Norm to watch over you.

Joyce, how is Bill?

Sue, sorry to hear you had such an experience

Judy, there you are girl, glad you will have Internet access and can visit more often, we've missed your posts. Jacob sure knew what would make you happy.
Sorry to hear Steve still isn't back on the job, didn't need that even though he is doing honey do chores

Liz, how are you faring since grannies death..struggling with it I'm sure...hugs

Well let's see if I can doze off again

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Judy. Sounds like you are staying busy. Barb, sending prayers.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Barb - wonderful that your son is so upbeat! Gosh, he's young to be having a quadruple bypass! But, maybe it's better that he IS young - will bounce back more easily than if he were a frail senior, I'm sure.

re: my new-to-me Loom
Spoke to my friend (Marlene) who gave it to me, and the Weaving Guild that she belonged to called her about it, and she told them that she gave it to a friend. They told her to have me call them. I told her that I couldn't afford to join the guild (no job......) and she said to call them, and explain my situation - they may be able to help somehow. So, I put a call in to them today - they were closed, so should hear from them another day.
I've gotten all the pieces for the loom in my dining area (took down the dining room table and put it away) and it should fit comfortably in that space. I will post pics of it as I get it partly assembled.
For my first project - I'd like to do a shawl......... that may be too ambitious, but we shall see - it's basically a long scarf, with fringes - those are added by knotting them on so that's an easy part lol
I saw instructions that said putting the loom together could be done with 2 people, but recommend 3 people.

Just back from bowling - my bowling was AWFUL lol
New lanes (they moved, and of course the new lanes are slippery, so I fell twice), favoured my injured left knee, and I haven't been bowling for about 3 years.....
3 games - 88, 92, 96, and me with a usual average of 172 LOL Oh well, I was getting better each game.......

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I just got an email asking me back for a 2nd interview on that job I interviewed at on Saturday!
6:00pm this Thursday. I have Choir practice same night there, at 7:30pm
If the interview is long, I may just stay at the church for choir practice lol
woooooo hooooooo!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, where's my long johns??
-38 this morning..started my car just to make sure it would start, did without hesitation

starting my morning with prayer for Barb/her son and family as well as for all of you, difficult times for sure..here I am complaining about flu/cold and on the scheme of things doesn't deserve mentioning.

Susan, that's great news, you just might be setting up that loom for nada, you'll be so busy at work you won't have time to play. yikes on the falling, you will be slow moving today..I never was any good at bowling

Wondering how Susan 101 is doing, been awhile since she's posted..I received a lovely note of thank you for the gift I sent her, was lovely to read!

just getting a piece out to work on today..had started a Christmas tree panel that you inserted lights in, made one for me and one for Melanie, didn't finish Julie's so think today is the day.

Rita called last night, we're thinking of driving to Buffalo Saturday should the weather co-operate, only for the day, just long enough to purchase supplies at Joanns so here is hoping.
think I need an outing

hope it's nice and toasty in your neck of the woods..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh man, that is cold! Better put two pair of long johns on! It is 39 here this morning, supposed to be 45 for the high today.

Good luck on your 2nd interview Susan! I hope your not too sore today!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Catching up here ..
Jumpin Jiminee LindaK .. get that surgeons name and REPORT him asap !!
It's 'common practice' during a surgery to have a look around to see that things are looking OK, if they aren't .. they sometimes will fix'em, or, definitely schedule someone who will do it soon after ..
Feel like giving that doc a smack on the backside !!!!

Dear Barb .. OMG!! .. what a flippin shock it must have been for you to hear the word 'quadruple' .. and then see David taking it in stride ..
If he is feeling confident, then I think all will be well ..
My prayers and thoughts are with you..

-40 here this morning, honestly, I think by SUMMER ( I think I remember summer), none of us will be able to tolerate the heat .. when 50F comes along we'll be turning on the A/C !!

Doing a bit of baking .. Gord informed my 'banana ranch ' in the freezer was getting out of hand, so, a banana loaf is on the agenda, then, I think, Lorna and I and our oldest Westie, Lilly, may be going to the dump/landfill to toss a few bags in ..
I may take a pic to show you all just how majorly 'groody' this place is, a total ecological disaster, AND, legal!!!

Hugs to all .. in your corner .. (feed me peanuts) LoL

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!
yippy here I sit in the Sunroom, coffee and smoke at my side.
hehe, I could get used to this.

Geesh, our guests had a 2:38 train yesterday. Want to take a guess what time they finally boarded? ---8:30 P.M.!! I guess their train had problems. I know Jen had to work today so I hope they got home without further issues.

Oh Betty, Those light up panels you did were pretty cool. Should be a fun project.
I'm not sure what I'll sink my hands into. lol I just know I need a break from all the cleaning.
Steve has a couple of proposals for me, so if he has them ready I'll do those early.

Sue, I am typing very quietly so not to wake the birds! oops too late I hear Petrie hopping around. Other wise they are good. Need to take them for a wing/nail clipping.
Oh yayyy, Flowie said good morning the other day!! That was a cute surprise. She's just the Queen bird, brat for sure, thinks she owns Petries cage. Have to keep chasing her out.
All three birds were in Brat mode all day yesterday! Even Pegasus didn't want to listen.
Usually while in the main house he listens pretty good, not yesterday...So he ended back in his cage and lol sqaucked around all day! Petrie and Flowie, going at each other all day.
Yikes!! Oh and Pegasus said Hilo!! LOL, they have been trying to get him to say Hello, he picked it up as Hilo, I think just because he was already saying hi, lol who knows but its so adorable to hear them talk...Oh my gosh they are messy, messy.
Well when they get really obnoxious, We put them (the 2 little ones) in the bathroom.
Usually for about ten minutes, they quiet down and can come back. this is pretty helpful.
Well, the other day DH had Petrie in there, I didn't know...So went in the room and good gosh he was swimming in the toilet!! Poor thing! So now have to make sure seat is closed.
and that is the bird tales I have to tell, lolol.

So are the kids back in school?

Well, I should probably get ready for the day. Waiving Hi to all, hope you stay warm and cozy.
Will check in in a bit.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my, the bird was swimming in the toilet? When my parrot gets noisy like that, I just cover his cage for about 20 minutes. That quiets him down pretty good.
Do you cover yours at night? They need the dark time to get their rest.
Glad to hear your friends train finally took off.

Linda has the PJ swap open.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE :-)

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

In the deep freeze here -11 F. I'm sure not going out.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Happy Birthday, Katie!!

birds swimming in the toilet lol Glad to hear it was swimming, and not flipping up & down...... suppose he enjoyed it?

It's -23F here..... brrrrrrr

Boy, what a busy week this will be.....today - reg check up with Dr, tomorrow - estimate to be done on car 8am and luncheon with UCW ladies in aft, Thurs suppertime - interview followed by Choir practice ....
I'm not used to doing so much running around, and excitement, and interview is excitement lol
Add to that, hopefully getting my car to be worked on hopefully this week?!?! dunno

Bob wants me to call the Heritage Weaving Guild and find out if someone could help him put the loom together - I dunno about that - their classes are $250 each one, so they'd likely charge for help putting it together - not a cost I'd want to incur......

boy, so used to a sedentary life, and now?!?!
I"m going to ask my Dr about a cortisone shot for my knee - it may help. Took 2 weeks to take effect last time. Knee's not that bad today - it could be much worse. I slept well, and I don't have to use a cane or anything - just being a whiny little person, I am lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, have you checked you tube for assembly instructions on your loom?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I have an instruction book that came with it. Bob's taken it to work to peruse it. Still, it needs 2 to 3 people to do it, and he's thinking........ they've done it before and understand it.

Lyndonville, NY

Happy Birthday Katie!!! I hope you are going to have a wonderful day, and I pray
this year is going to be much happier and healthier all the way around!!!

LindaKay, thanks for keeping me company last night. lol Went to bed at 11:30, and was
awake at 4:30. Sigh.

DH is back at work, full time and no restrictions.

Betty, let me know if your coming up, I have two boxes here for you.

Barb, continued prayers and hugs. All I can say is "thank God they found it before a big
issue they couldn't fix happened".

Waving to everyone. Making myself go outside just for a quick walk (at 5 degrees) to bet
the blood flowing.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy birthday Katie!! Hope it is the best ever....

Thank you all for your prayers. Still haven't heard what day surgery is planned. I hate waiting!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debbie, I enjoyed keeping you company on FB last night. I loved the photo's you were posting.

Barb, let us know when you hear anything please?

Betty, that is too cold for anyone to be out in!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Anyone for homemade soup, got enough for all of us?

Happy Happy birthday Katie, if you are hearing someone off key in this group singing happy birthday it's ME!!! Debbie, you sure know how to make those cakes.

Do hope this year will be the best year ever, healthy, prosperous and above all a long line of friends

There you go LindaKay and Debbie, I never think of facebook, it's always DG I hand out in..wish I'd known

Debbie, with all your troubles, would hate to bother you, you've enough on your plate without venturing out to meet me an hour away..boxes can wait.

Susan, that's one heck of a piece of equipment to be sitting in your home..wow..know you are anxious to get it set up so hope Bob brings home a few friends. Just maybe it would be worth saving your pennies and having the guild put it together, less frustrating..maybe your 1st paycheck could be used for that purpose.

Judy, sounds like one heck of a lot of screaching (chirping) going on
glad you are able to spend time sitting in the sunroom but did I hear you say you'd be doing it with a packet of cigs by your side..shaking my finger little Mrs.

Think you should get those quotes typed up for Steve otherwise you might just be having him around the house a little longer than you want to.

"M" save courage, spring will be here before we know it and we'll be saying, there that wasn't so bad now was it...then it will be the southern gals telling us all about their heat.

worked a bit more on my 2015 Roadtrip, won't be as hot/humid this year as it was for us last year.
Looking forward to doing the east coast

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

hahaha Betty - you have me hired, paid, gotten a raise in my first week, etc.........
Boy, if all the positive energy and prayers in this room are to be put together in one bundle, I'll Surely get that job.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm pulling for you, too, Susan's!

Happy birthday, Katie! Hope it's a great one!

Bill is doing much better now, Betty, thanks for asking. He's just complaining about how cold he is all the time. The blood thinner really does keep him freezing a lot! We're supposed to get in the high 40s on Saturday. Can't wait! It'll be a heat wave!!

I made a fresh batch of suet for my birds today. Gosh they love that stuff!!

Have au gratin potatoes and a meat loaf in the oven. Along with a broccoli salad, that will be dinner. I made 3 loaves of pumpkin bread earlier so a slice of that later will serve as dessert.

Barb, still praying for your son. I'm not sure if you told us his name. Im praying for "Barb's son", but I'd like to add his name.

Verona, ON

Happy Birthday Katie. Wishing you good health, peace and happiness.
D

Victoria Harbour, ON

Joyce, can I come for supper, beats left over stew...

If I go to buffalo Saturday I'll pick some up at the Christmas tree store, they always have them on sale

Thought I'd finish hand sewing lights to the panel I'm doing but that part takes forever, worked all afternoon and only got 11 done.,another 9 to go
