Morning all

-18 and snowing/blowing, pretty out there trees so laden with snow, can hear plows in the distance, should go out and do walkway and steps before Andrew gets here. Other than a quick trip to Foodland it will be a stay in day for sure!

What plans do you all have to fill your day/weekend?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning!

Not doing much here. 33 and raining. If it gets any colder things will freeze, and I won't go out it in.

Susan, let us know when you get the job.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Went out, cleared off the car, knee deep in snow, got the steps done and1/4 of the walkway, don't wantto overdo, cant even feel my fingers ..municipal plow just went by and Andrew is usually just afte

I'll go to Foodland when he comes, with car out of the way he can do a good clean up

Guess I will be playing in the sewing room, nothing else to do

That's cold for you lindakay, stay in and be safe

Wanted to ask, you said you had rolls and rolls of batting, how did you get so many??

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

((((Susan))))

((((Pegi))))

3 here this morning. I'm off to clean a house. Stay warm all!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Up, dressed and already been to the vampires!! Had to have a blood draw this morning. It was 10* then and only 11* now. A tad chilly.

Made Norm a new pocket wallet yesterday. He loves the little fabric ones as they hold his cards for work much better than a conventional one. And then I surfed for a while and then downloaded a book. So we know what I'll be doing today. I need to get backing fabrics for the eight stockings I have the patchwork done on. Maybe I'll take a chance and go out tomorrow. I do have to laugh about this though. Doc says not to go out unless temps are above 35 and then sends me for blood draws when the temps are so low. They aren't supposed to go above 25 all week!!!!LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, you could if you've a lot of scraps make the backing out of squares as well..I did that on one because I have far too many scraps, was a good way to rid myself of them..

picture of Norm's cc holder please..he must love getting homemade goodies from you.

I'm still waiting for Andrew..people don't seem to get up early anymore lol

I did a throw top, 2 more rows to it and I can quilt it..said I had best start quilting and not making, well, cleaning up my mess from yesterday, I pretty well have enough to make another because when you cut your trips you end up with a 2nd set

an extra throw will come in handy for Christmas..giving my heat a shake

Seems that would make a tree skirt Betty with the corners cut off to make an octagon. LOL you know how I look at everything.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Have you seen the video Karen? She shows this one here and then another really big quilt as well. I guess you just make more of those quarter blocks and then play with them for a layout. Are you looking to make some smaller tree skirts?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I did see the video Barb. I'm hoping she puts it in the next BLOCK because I really like the larger one she showed. I've been waiting for one to make for myself and I think this just might be it.

No I don't want to make smaller tree skirts but I was thinking maybe another row of the block would make it big enough or even somehow making the center block bigger as it really doesn't show in a tree skirt and then building on it. Got my head working on it just not sure yet where to go with it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, that is beautiful.

Last summer I was shopting at Joann's and they had it on sale for half price, so bought about 10 of them, then I had the 25% off my order. So I think I paid like $12.00 for each one. Normally they are like $30.00. I gave a few to my DiL.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great buys Linda kay, I buy the rolls when on sale, you get about 5 queen/king out of hem

Karen, this is larger than th tree skirts I did, you could cut it down a few inches by cutting down the patched border and I did think with a smile yesterday that you would see a tree skirt n it. Lol

I will tree the larger one but don't want Xmas so put what I need on my list for Joann's

Waiting to be plowed out

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

What are the measurements Betty?

mulege, Mexico

Woke up this morning a little later than usual (8am) feeling good!!!! No pain, no hot flashes (which are a side effect of radiation) and not exhausted. Wow. I may backslide again but this is wonderful.

There are lots of flu/cold things around. Tony is also up and down so I tell him to take it easy.

For the moment, the brain fog has also lifted.

Of course, now I think I should be able to deal with months of clutter and dirt in a few minutes or hours!!! I won't overdo but I can't tell you all how grateful I am to be having some up time.

hugs, katie

good morning.
Katie sending you hugs
No plans. Austin has a basketball game. not until 530 , don't like those times . Driving in the dark i hate in cold and snow. Good thing Tom is here.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear your'e having a good day Katie!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

hahahaha LK - "when I get the job"...... thanks for the positive vibes!
1 1/2 hours from now, I"ll be in the interview.
Just getting ready now - only 10 min drive from here........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Karen, I just watched the video again, she said each section is 16 inches, so if my math is correct, the 4 center pieces would finish at 15 & 1/2, a 2 & 1/2 inch border, plus the keyboard border would add 4 & 1/2 on each side. That makes it about 45 inches?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yep, I just measured mine, with the white borders on its about 48" so wouldn't take much to make the pieced border larger and a final border an inch bigger and there you'd have 54"

Because I'm rNdomly giving these pieces as I'd have way too much and I do them to pass my time I went through my stash and found pieces that I sewed to make the backing..front is what you show so why not..

Stew is simmering, going to have a nap then put the piece on the frame and quilt it, not large so should take no time at all

Victoria Harbour, ON

Brrr

Susan, positive thoughts, let us know which day you start

Verona, ON

We got some snow but not like you have received. Bitter cold here with high winds. It is mid -20's outside. I was concerned the Escape wouldn't start as I didn't plug in the block heater but she turned over first try.

Katie I have always found after radiation. that I don't get really tired until about 2 weeks after the radiation was over. So glad you got to ring the bell!

Sending positive thoughts Susan that your interview will go well.

Need to put on my doorman cap and let these pups out. Remember to do something nice for yourselves ladies.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Those block heaters are wonderful things Dianne, haven't used mine yet but am sure the day will come.
Kitties haven't wanted to go out, likely diesel and duke are quick about their business, doorman doesn't have to wait too long

Wind is up here as well, doesn't make for good visibility for those having to go out..got to say Greg is loving it, he is out with my brother Mike enjoying a day of snowmobiling, remember doing same out in cold snowy weather and enjoying every minute of it!

Should soon hear from Susan

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Job interview went well, I'm one of 6 candidates, and they said I am well qualified.
Decision date is Jan 22nd, with training start date of Jan 27th.
They also said the selection will be a tough one.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well the comment that you are very well qualified is a plus Susan! Praying you will have good news jan 22nd

Ate supper, had a hot bath, feet up
Feeling I'm lazy

Sure hope we hear from "M" tomorrow

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Betty, that throw is gorgeous. think I have to find the video. check it out.

I don't have any kind of binding tool. can I cut angles with a regular ruler? 45* ?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes you could,a cutting fron 2 1/2" strips

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, that is pretty cold, I too hope the doorman does not have to wait long.

Susan, I hope you are called for the job!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Fingers crossed for you Susan. Got to believe things happen for a reason...perhaps for you, it is a new church and a new job.

Has anyone heard from Marion? Surely the cruise is over and school has started? Do hope all is well with her sister and family.

Hope M checks in soon. Weather man said the lake areas were due some heavy snow, and a friend just outside Buffalo was snowed in yesterday.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Marion posted a few days ago, she has to get Kim's vehicle repaired. Someone hit her, and took off. No one was hurt.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thunder, I posted the binding tool measurements on the sewing thread. That should help you....

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks LK. That must have been in the last thread. Glad no one was hurt. It can take a long time for insurance/repairs to get done.

We finally called our insurance company and turned our claim over to them. The woman who turned in front of DH had not even notified her insurance a week after the accident. DH called and they said someone would get in touch with him...The wreck was on the 9th of December.

I called our insurance company on Wednesday, the 7th. The adjuster called us on Thursday so we could sign off on the paperwork. DH will have a check on Monday.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

poor Kim - the other guy driving off, and all............. I wonder if Kim got his license plate #?

Our car accident was Jan 4, we reported it to the police right away, then to the insurance company Monday the 5th. Got a call from the adjuster on Tues 6th, and I called the service station on Thurs 8th - got an app't for an estimate on Wed 14th at 8am........ then I send the estimate into the insurance co. Hope it's quick........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

-16' been out and got my shoveling done, load of wash done, full tummy ..i will finish my coffee, have my bath then will have the entire day to play!

Thankfully there was only a few inches of snow, was easy going..

Jean, isn't it illegal not to report such things to the insurance company? Am sure you said, was it a write off..DH was a lucky man.what kind of vehicle are you looking for?

Susan, let's hope yours is repaired quickly as well.

With being under the weather this past month has made a dull existence..be glad when I can be doing something and enjoying myself, perhaps next month

Smiling, imagine I've gift certificates for Joanna and haven't even made it there to buy supplies 😥

good morning.
brrr still cold here.
Austin had a game last night and we decided to go out to eat. We found a hibachi/sushi restaurant and it was good. But we waited a long time for our table :( . We finaly got home at 1030 last night and i had to many beers LOL. well two beers.

She tries to get up on her own and falls has big black eye. She will be my 10th sibling to lose. There will be only two left. Me and my sis in Kansas who I never see. I have lost so many like 4 grandchildren and 3 G grands. I don't have anyone to talk to any more. LOVE BEV
