Best/Worse/What did I Learn today?chat with friends old/new

I am glad to be part of the family Betty. I hear ya about family members being cold.

Betty, what kind of thread do you use? I mainly use thread from connecting threads, as it is cheap, but a really nice thread too. 1,200 yard spools for just $2.79 each! If you have friends get together and combine your order, if it is over $100.00 your shipping to Canada is free.

no name on it , usually found in the machine quilting section of threads...you can get solid or variegated..I like it
when doing my quilts I use it in the bobbin and aurafil (?) on top..like how the finish is

Have to check your link

it's reasonable when I buy it at Joanns but did soooo much quilting the last few months before christmas that I ran out of the white

I will buy a lg order when next at joanns..white/red,variegated green
have to check with Darlene to see exactly what she bought, regardless it won't go to waste.

Betty i was doing the same thing LOL.
ok so i m selling my sewing machine. Husqvarna viking platinum 735 only used 2 time.
but i m not having much luck finding any online to price compare ? .
I m asking you if $400 is a fair price ? what is your opinion ?

Looks like a great machine, not sure what it would be worth without any type of guarantee, if I lived closer I might be tempted

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

There is one listed on Ebay for $400 shipping included. Most likely not in as good a shape as yours. Pretty sure your price is good. It is sold by the way. What is included with yours? If it hasn't been used in quite a while, it might need a good cleaning & oiling maybe even professionally. They sometimes build up some corrosion just sitting.

ok Karen good to know. I was thinking of taking it to a store and having someone look at it and make sure its in working condition.
Nothing comes with it but some spools of thread ? and a fabric cutter .
I may check and see what shipping would cost.
I have no idea how to do ebay or any of those other sale sites. Guess its time to learn . Seems that will be my best bet.
thank you for your inputs.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

You would need to put it in a box with the packaging & weigh it all to get postage.
You might be better listing it on Craigs List which is local or there are a couple quilting sales forums too.

If you list on Craig's List, be sure to have someone with you when you meet with buyer. Not a good idea to let them come to your home or vice versa. Although I bought an embroidery machine from a woman on there and she delivered it and spent the entire afternoon showing me how to use it, while her hubby had a great time with mine discussing all sorts of things. We are in a rural area though so that makes a difference.

On Ebay decide on if you will allow return and on what terms. Make sure machine works as it should.

You are so knowledgeable on this Karen.

Agree about Craigslist & similar, must be wary

Man last year put his truck on it, two men came to his home, wanted to try it out, he went with them

They did find the two men after a bit and charged them with murder..

i tried craigs list a couple times. no luck. Not really comftable doing craigs list. I have sold things on CL but was always worried about it.
I may learn to do ebay.

Betty - I went to Fabricland today (didn't know about the sales, but figured there would be some). I got a gift cert from Bob for Christmas & it couldn't be used until Jan 4th... been busy ever since, so today was my first opportunity. I got some very cloud soft fabric (not the name, just my description) - it was fluffy, and sooooooo soft. Had to have a piece of it for my new grandson. No idea what I'll make with it, but got a metre ($27/metre, 30% off), plus a meter of Christmas fabric (65% off) and 2 packages of fat quarters - Christmas patterns ($7.50 ea). There Had to be something wrong with the clerk's calculations - ended up costing me $14.24. I gave her a $50 gift cert, used $30 of it for a Fabricland discount card, which left $20 plus the $14.24....... guess what I bought was $34.24. Typing this, I guess they were right in the charges - it just seemed awfully cheap lol

I first used Kijiji.com for selling / buying items from people, here in Calgary. I'd never thought of danger, but - guess there are weirdos out there - dangerous ones........ I'm so naive......

Going to Choir practice for the first time in what seems to be our new church - been a long tiring day. If this wasn't our first time, and we promised we'd come, I'd give it a miss...... been a Very Long Day, and I'm tired........
I'll fill you in later, if I don't fall asleep at my keyboard.......

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Morning LK>
Got up late so late getting to the breathing machine this morning. Snow is falling and is it about 18* here. I love to watch it but I am so grateful to be inside and warm!!! Wearing leggings under my jeans most days days. It is a circulation thing - I have plenty of heat here.

Hope to do some sewing today. Plan to make Christmas stockings for my siblings for next year. Taking a page from Betty!!!!

Norm is off to the north country today. Got new snow tires with studs on his van so I'm a bit less worried. Snow is light and fluffy and is to end soon. Need to go to lab for a blood draw later today. He will be home to drive....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Barb, sounds pretty cold up there? It is about 40 here, and that will be the high for today a well. I am so glad there is no wind to make it even colder.
Bundle up when you go out later.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, was up early, posted and drats must have gone to check something without pressing send. Grrr

Barb, like you enjoyed making those Xmas stockings, yep, feels good not having to rush end of year..good snowtiresmake the difference in winter driving, a must

Susan, those are indeed great buys..problem is I needed massive yardage for backing..hope you post photos of what you make with your stash

-19, buses cancelled, rather stormy but it's clearnow, see neighbors out with their snowblowers, no Andrew yet, should really go clear off my car and shovel pathway so Andrew can properly lean, lordy those snow banks are high

Just did vacuuming and dusting, making another cup of coffee and toast then can go play downstairs

Watching BT television and they had a questionair , posting just for fun. 😊

How long do you wear your bra before washing

Question

49% -2 or 3 days

44%. 4 or 5 days

7%. 1 day

Suggestion was to wash your bra while you shower with your shampoo, hand and dry and it's ready for next morning

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Interesting question!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I would say I wash mine every day as I do a wash every morning
perhaps that's why they look like rags..wash far too often

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I wash mine by hand, as they cost about $50.00 each. Too expensive to ruin in the wash machine.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I do wash in the machine as I have a front loader, but I never put in the dryer.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm with the 49% - every 3 days - wash & dry by machine. And I trade off - have 3 bras.
I probably shouldn't wash & dry by machine, but..... oh what the heck lol

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

For me it depends on the level of activity. Working in the garden almost always means sweaty and that means into to laundry bag. Summertime out of the garden....maybe twice. A good bra is worth a bit of a splurge, so mine get washed in a lingerie bag, cool wash, delicate cycle and line dried.

Betty, if you wanted a southern winter home, afraid you would have to go further south than here. It was in 20's in New Orleans.... this is our forecast:

http://www.wafb.com/weather

welp my car is stuck in my driveway , hit a area to deep for it :( snow drifts suck. I didn't think it was that bad.
I m very angry at Tim. All i could think of is what kind of man leaves his ex and children in the middle of nowhere with a small car, no firewood. no way to get out of a sticky situation if one comes about ect... . I have been so distracted with so many other things in life, i just can't do it all ?
He never once asked if we needed anything, not even a snow shovel !!! or extra money to get the driveway plowed, no firewood if electric goes out. nothing. Could i have done this on my own ? yes but with my income and dealing with other issues of life, kids, school ect... uhg.
He had the nerve to say " you had a tractor and a truck " ooohhhhh Lawdy Lawdy ... you just didn't say that to me ?
spent two hrs digging it out. still stuck ! waiting on my neighbor with a truck when he gets home from work.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Blizzard out there again tonight so even your neighborhood look good..doesn't last 5 months 😉

Sue, you've every right to be angry, if not for you at least make it safe for his children..what would happen if they needed emergency care and ambulance couldn't get in..think you should have negotiated that..

Sue, I throw mine in those mesh bags, doesn't take as bad a beating

"M" hasn't posted today, here is hoping all ok

Katie, you feeling better?

Bath time then going to do some word search games till I fall asleep

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I got a call for a job interview - tomorrow at 12:15, for an Administrative Assistant position, at the church Bob & I have gone to a few times :-)
Bit nervous, but I'm sure I'll do fine!
Asking for prayers that it's "the" job for me, and that I get it

Victoria Harbour, ON

Here's hoping Susan, at least you are making the final pick so that is positive..

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good thoughts and positive energy for you Susan.

mulege, Mexico

Hi Everyone.

Good luck, Susan. New church and new job should go together well.

I'm OK. Still very tired with occasional hot flashes. Gradually improving, I think.

Tony's mother will get the wheelchair I found in San Diego.

back to bed. thought I'd be done when the treatments were over. wrong.

hugs, katie

Ms.Jaye got her package and i want to thank you all for your donations. Those who gave special prayers those were felt and are so much appreciated.

Betty - the "final pick"? I don't know that they've done any interviews before..........
All I know is - the application had to be in by Jan 5th, and they called me today.

Thank you, Betty, Jean, and Katie - I'll try to do everyone proud!

Yaaaaay - Ms Jaye got her package :-)
My prayers were definitely in that package, and continue to be sent "across the miles/smiles" :-)

Drats, was sound asleep and phone rang twice, no one there, I.d. Said it was Greg, called, said he pocket dialed., so now I'm wide awake

Katie, Tony's mom will be so appreciative getting the wheelchair..are the hot flashes due to meds?

Ahhhh Karen, looking at your posting time, should you not be sound asleep resting?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
