Oh Liz, my condolences to you and your family..she sure was spunky though, seems like it's almost a decade since you were concerned about her health. Speaking of paperwork did you ever get all the paperwork done? Isn't it ironic she would pass on say day as dh

As for your boarder, oh Lordy that could have had a deadly endings or all of you, bet you are thamkful you were able to help him in his time of need nut more thankful he is now gone.

Sue, husqvarna is a great machine, out of th box it comes

Sorry to hear of your Grandmother passing Liz! Glad to hear you got to the fire before it got too bad!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Liz - truly sorry to hear of your grandmother's passing. How strange that it's the same day / anniversary........ wonder if she was thinking of this....it's not unlikely

Poor Anne - she called me at suppertime, in a terrible flap. She's spoke to the administrator (Polly) of the care home she's moving to on Saturday. Polly told her it was easy to switch over to new address - just call the provider and tell them she's moving. Anne's wondering why she has to fuss and worry about calling the provider when she's moving out. I explained, over and over and over and over again, that yes, moving in is easy - all WiFi. But...... moving out is a different exercise (equipment to be returned, some in the equipment room in the condo block), and Polly isn't talking about that - she's only concerned with the move-in. Anne & her family (sons & DILs) have to deal with the move-out. Took 3/4 of an hour to settle Anne down to where she realized they were 2 different issues. She just wants it as easy to move out as Polly says it is for the move in........
Apparently I'm not needed tomorrow - one son & DIL are going to take over and get the move "moved along". Anne doesn't seem to realize how much work to actually DO in a move. She spends most of the time socializing with me - so actually we're not getting much done, but it's what Anne needs - she's so turned upside down about this. She's lived in this condo for 14 years, and she's 84 - losing autonomy is tough..... and she's confused.

A belated Happy New Year to everyone. I wish you all good health, peace and happiness in 2015.

Many thanks for the birthday greetings. I spent my BD in the bathroom. Wicked case of the flu hit me and decided to stay for a few days. I am still really tired so am only doing what I can manage. My cleaning lady was here yesterday so the house is sparkling.

It is bitter cold here. The dogs are not asking to go outside to play, that is for sure. Diesel and Duke look at me like I am crazy when I bring wood inside. They usually can't wait for a chance to get outside. This will tell you how sick I was... I let the fire burn out and turned on the oil furnace. I have never ever done that in the last 30 years. You all know how much I enjoy doing the wood but I just couldn't.

Jean I am sending you my sincere sympathy in the loss of your brother - waaay too young to go. I am going to listen to Leonard Cohen's version of Halleulah (sp) I really butchered the spelling of the song but you will know what I mean.

Liz condolences on the loss of your grandmother.

I'll be back in a bit. Safe driving Debbie into Rochester.
Dianne

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Geez, that is like 20 below zero here..our low tonight is supposed to be 21F (-6C) Had hoped we might miss the really cold weather a bit longer...

Y'all stay warm and be safe.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for checking in Dianne, we were asking about you. Sorry to hear you had the flu! Lots of rest and hot soup.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks so much Dianne. So sorry you are under the weather...do stay warm and feel better soon.(Hugs)

Sometimes the animals have a better sense of things than we do. Diesel and Duke know it is better inside..grin. Our current cold snap is only supposed to be around for 3 days, then the lows will be back up in the mid-40'sF (6 to 8C)

Been listening to Stevie Ray, Traffic and Small Faces.....all favorites my brother and I had in common.

Debbie, hope all goes well for Paul...(Hugs)

LK are you getting much from this latest cold front?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It was in the mid 50's yesterday, today it is supposed to reach 53, but will drop to 28 tonight. Cold for us, but nothing like Canada, and northern states are getting.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean, bet a few tears ar falling, hugs

Dianne, heart goes out to you, sure is a wicked cold/ flu..hard part is your being alone, that is what I miss most, having someone around to check in on me.

Think with the'd eat on you still feel cold in these. Temps..see Toronto and area are opening beds in. Shelters, lost 2 homeless men in the last few days from sleeping in the cold.god bless those who work these shelters and yet some refuse to go inside to warm beds??

Diesel and duke are on the right track, best to stay inside..bet they stayed close to you while you were under the weather, anyone calling or checking in on you? Sure hope so

Hated to go out and shovel this morning , weatherman said wasn't likely going to warm up any time soon so braved the cold. Brrr

Head isn't as bad,out of bed and playing around with a binding, figure I could sit in bed and hand sew

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Toss me a FIREBALL .. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr .. -44 here (F & C )
Lorna had a docs apt and we about perished walking from the car into the building, we were walking INTO a wicked west wind that felt like knives smackin ya in the face !!
We were going to shopping after her apt, but, we went to Timmies drive thru and came on home .. no sign of a let up, and, 2 more appts tomorrow .. dental in the morning for Lorna, and I see the rheumatologist in the early afternoon, not an apt I want to miss .. need to go back on the chemo drug I guess, I'll take 36 hours of feeling 'ikky', as opposed to weeks with this miserable arthritic pain !
I can opt for weekly injection if I want instead of the pills .. and, I think I can have it IV every 3 weeks .. but, that would mean having to go into ambulatory day care at the hospital for a couple of hours.

HEY HEY Dianne, so good to se you posting :-)
Awww jeeze, you had the 'crud' too! I am crossing my fingers and using MEGA amounts of hand sanitizer ..
Poor puppers, best they just do 'whizz breaks' .. and QUICK .. our 3 are devastated, but, they still take time to roll in the snow, crazy guys ..

Betty .. shovelling SNOW!!! in that cold, not a good thing to do ..especially when you have a bad chest .. hope you feel OK ..

Hope all is well with both Liz and Jean...

Thoughts and prayers and tons of hugs for everyone ..

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lordy "M" know you can help it with these appts but it sure feels good just to stay inside!so many decisions as to what treatment you can take, this cold isn't helping matters is it

-31. With wind chill, what ever happened to saying the temp that they now add wind chill..you win, but I think after -25 you don't much feel it getting colder

As for shoveling, it was a quick shovel, left some for after, did three out of 8 steps, do a few this aft and the rest early evening, toooo cold to snow

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

brrrr you ladies are getting it COLD there....... It's +19F / -7c here.....

Today is a "free" day - I was supposed to go to Anne's to help, but her son & DIL have decided it's too nasty to drive (asked Anne if they were now mothering ME..... guess so, she says), and that they don't need our assistance. I'm sure they see the amount of packing done and figure we've not done much. They're RIGHT there....... I think Anne just wanted my company more than my help, tbh........ yes, we packed 6 boxes and took them to the MCC Thrift Shop, but that was spread out over 3 visits of mine...... could have done it in one visit. She was too confused and too weary to do anymore, and she insisted that she drive, so I was only along for the ride, and to take the boxes from the car to the loading dock door (for donations). I think they must figure I'm not much younger than Anne, but I'm about their age lol Anne's 84, to my 60 :-)
Anyway, Bob's fixed my sewing machine table (it was about to collapse), so I can "get to it" - Have MEGA projects to get done!!

Glenview, IL

Offering you all big Armwraps and lost of prayers.

I am so sorry to hear of the many losses, Moonbeam and Liz sending prayers.

Wow, Karen, I was so glad that your Dh was home and you got to the hospital so quickly.
Hope you are home and feeling better.

Katie, Was very happy to see you got home and all went so well with the treatments. Quite the time getting home, but Thank God for those nice people. it will take a little bit to get in the swing of normal routine, take your time...yes, please d-mail your address.

Crissy!!! Well hello there, yikes so sorry to hear about your job. I hope you'll get the appeal.

Hiya Sue, Yikes another snow day, lol geesh, we have very little snow, not that I am complaining but it is frigid cold, below 10*. Up on the Rez, it's so cold my brothers project was shut down, he is going bonkers!
Was contemplating on running away to my house, but the reality he wasn't able to. Oh golly sorry you had to give up Bella.

Susan, I was glad you like my pressies! I had a bit of a time in shipping to you, lol it took a couple of tries.
But I was really glad to see you actually got it a day early.

Linda kay, how you been? How fun you got to play photographer!! Saw your photos in the SI thread. Very nice...

Debbie, You doing ok? wow, was sorry to hear all that's been up in your world. I say go get yourself a puppy!! Well i was really glad your Son(s) are there to help, even if just for the sense added Support.
Sure hope Paul is on the road to recovery.

Hey Sunshine, woah, was glad to see your DH is much better. Awe sure enjoyed seeing you and Sherry had some nice shopping days...I smiled at your to do's, glad you got them out of the way.

Dianne, so good to see you post too! Was getting a bit worried. Wow, you must have been out of it to not have your fire. But thank goodness you have back up. Omg, poor pups not wanting to go out in the cold, brrr me either, best they stay snuggly warm next to you...

Betty, Maan, big bummer you now have the flu!! Well, I am glad you are taking the time to rest and get better. lol, i can't imagine you, not doing anything. LOL, leave it to you to have some hand sewing to keep you occupied. Wow, nice new furniture! We've been moving couches around.
Sorry to hear you have been so sick, sending healing thoughts to you and everyone.

Well, My DH has been home and driving me insane. Today he went to the jobsite to retrieve his tools and stuff. Not sure when they will be able to resume. Hopefully sooner then later, lol.

I've had a crazy busy week! Not sure if i told you, I was Bird sitting for almost 2 weeks. I am exhausted!!
Good gosh, poor baby looked out the window several times a day searching for Jake and Emily. it was a little tough keep him occupied, but we finally got it together. LOL and feeding time was quite the experience. Haha after a few chase around the kitchen events, I decided to feed him in his cage where he couldn't run around as much. I finally figured that one out after his eyeball feeding! ROFLOL, what a mess we made of each other...Well then there is the day I decided he needed a shower, Ohhh this was worse then feeding and I do believe I took on most of the water, yikes and a few new talon holes, as he ran up my arm trying to escape. LOL now i understand why Jake bathing suite is a always on the drying rack. Well, I stuck to the Feeding schedule and we developed a play time. LOL, I was so very good at it, lol, didn't want Jake yelling at me for spoiling him. Playtime was entertaining and fun but pretty nerve wracking. Got to watch this guy. But i found a few things he could play with. We had good listening skills after a few no no's and the ultimate now you gotta go home episodes. Now I just make the uh uh sound and he gets into different mischif. All in all it went rather well. He really missed the kids and when they finally got home at 9:30 P.M...He was so quiet, He was either really mad at them or maybe thought he was dreaming, lol. Well they are all back to there old routine and Pegasus comes hopping out of the room to visit and say Hi!! DH and and Breenie were great about helping with him too.
Those two little ones a handful too and oh gosh they are on a screeching fest! Flowie is quite the instigator and big bully to Petrie. She gets caged quite a bit for going after P, oh and Pegasus too! For a little bitty thing she is a Big terrorizer.
Last couple of days, I've got most all the decorations put away. I just have the village left. DH enjoys seeing it still so It's will be put away by the end of the month.
Lets See, We had visitors from out of State. Our friends Don and Karla came to spend time with their kids and grands. We had a nice breakfast with them on there way back to Wisconsin. We also had a nice gathering with my friend Diane and her husband Bill...She has been really ill with heart problems.
Pamm is doing ok. She had her sister Gail cut her hair really short. With the hair she cut off and is creating a wig for her. Pretty cool. Pammy is in good Spirits.

Oh yeah, I can add my DH to the injury list...Shaking my head, as he was sorting scrap, he wasw cutting some of the pieces with a grinder. Yep he slipped and caught his thumb! Cut right through the nail too. So, had to get that cleaned and bandaged. Looks like it healing pretty good.

So i got a new camera from Jacob for Christmas. LOL, as soon as i get a card reader i can post some pics...Tabby bit the dust! I'm going to get a new cord and see if that helps, it just wont take a charge.
Trust me when I say, I really miss it, sigh. With DH home, he has been spending a good amount of time on the PC so i have been getting behind.

Well my Friends, I Sure hope the New Year goes a bit smoother for all. Seems like it's been off to rocky start for everyone...ok, DH home and soup is on.

Waiving Hi to Thunder, Barbara, Susan/101 be back in a bit to chat some more.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Yes, thank you, Judy.......... now, if I can only get katie's address, I'll send her her pressies.... so far no answer from her as to the address.... I just know that the kiddie she gives the present to will love it :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

There you are Judy, wondered where you went off to

so laughing, your bird sitting episodes would make a t.v. show

Yikes on Steve's thumb, must be terribly sore..when you say he went and got the tools is that because the project was shut down and not likely going to continue? That wouldn't be good!

Bet Jacob got a big kiss/hug for getting you a camera..he knows how much you love snapping.

As for being ill Judy, this time its more a cold, can't keep warm..sure glad I have a plug in blanket, even with it on high I'm chilled..should be at a beach in Florida I say..that's ok going April 3rd. but
by then winter will be over or at least I hope so

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Judy, I can see the whirlwind your in just from reading y our post! I have one bird to take care of, and you have 3? That is a job! I hope those talon holes in your arm heal quickly. I hope Steve's thumb heals quickly too. Did he have to have stitches?

I have one of those electric plug in lap blankets too, and they're awesome!
Enjoy losing yourself in a good magazine - paper piecing...... I did that once - really nice, and really easy. Little time consuming, but it's nice all the same.

Morning all

Sue, here is hoping you got some 'adult time'😄

Crissy, sending positive energy your way, here is hoping you will shine in this interview..may it be the answer o our prayers.

Heat wave here today -15c

Not much happening, went through my totes, hadn't finished Julie's Christmas wallhanging that light up, might play with it while I'm still in the Christmas mood, that and naps should fill in my day

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

-15 is better than -30! Lol!! Still no shoveling snow! Lol!!

My mom had another surgery! This one was done by the doc that found the meshes. She had a nerve stuck to her hipbone, 2 bands of scar tissue, and a neuroma of another nerve. I'm not sure what a neuroma is but he took it out. She should start feeling a ton better when her cuts heal. Everything she was complaining about he took care of. Here's a lesson to all of us. He does not work with any insurance company. He said that if he did he would not have been allowed to go as deep as he did to find the meshes, nor would he have been allowed to move nerves around to the correct locations and remove scar tissue. That is what our medical insurance has turned into. Very sad.

I'm up and studying, I get the pivot tables and summary report, but I can't get a graph to work. Ggggrrrrr

Victoria Harbour, ON

hope your mom will be in less pain Crissy, long haul for her!

sure wish I could help you with graph, nope, I'd lead you astray, not computer savy

snowing lightly but wind is up, all comes with winter right..best news is once January is in we're about 1/2 way through winter and then comes spring

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.

Sue, Jaye has the crud, she will be back posting on her thread when she is feeling better.

Crissy, I can't help with graph's either, so sorry.

goodness LindaKay, that's terrible weather for you
do you have all the staples you need inhouse..one time I won't brave out when they call for freezing rain

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thank God we have all we need. I refuse to drive in it too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

do you have something to work on?

fabricland flyer came in today
75% off most items, think it might be worth a drive

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have some snowman panels for pillows, I am working on. I ordered them from ebay for a Christmas gift for my daughter in law, but it was not delivered till the day before Christmas. So I showed her the panels, and told her I will bring them to her when I go over on the 22nd, for a Dr. follow up. Problem is they are 18 X 20", and I can't find a pillow form to fit, so I will have to buy them 20 X 20", and cram them in or trim them to fit? I wonder if layers of batting will work?

Thumbnail by taters55
Victoria Harbour, ON

how cute

wouldn't use the layers and yes you could cut down a pillow, push the packing to one side as best you can and sew off the size you want and double stitch then cut extra off

she will love them

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the info Betty, that helps a lot.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Here I Am!!! I lost this thread and just found it again. Oh Mercy, hugs and arm wraps to all needing them. Thanks for the many good wishes.

I'm feeling pretty good, first thing I did when I got home was take a 6 hour uninterrupted nap. We had stopped on the way home and hubby ran into our fav. Greek hole in the wall to get me some lemon rice soup. They were so sweet and said it was their treat for me, no charge. After I had a bit of soup, I went back to bed and slept the night through. Still have the weeble wobbles if I try to do too much but better every day.

Bitter, bitter cold up here so no plans to go out. I had planned to get a haircut before the crap started and it will wait a while longer. Have appointments set up for later this month.

I have to say all the personnel at the hospital were wonderful and I had great care, but the kitchen is horrid and has been for a very long time. My last stay it was in-edible...not just my opinion, nurses even told my they bring in their lunch rather than eat the food there. This trip was no better. Good place to go to lose weight. LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you are on the mend Karen and not doing anything you shouldn't be doing.

I have had no appetite and like you can't understand why I'm not thin..don't think I lost an ounce

Victoria Harbour, ON

Fabricland was a wasted trip, packed, couldn't move in it, they likely had 2 items on for 75% then all 50%..well 50% off $24-$28 a meter (39") isn't a great value is it.

Bought a spool of thread..reg $14, pd $7+13% tax
Darlene paid about $3-$4 for same taking in discount then 25% off everything
bought 1 as I did need white but walked out with nothing else as I'm not throwing away money.

Rita just called, said she had a gift certificate for Joanns for me as xmas gift, hadn't dropped it off as I had said not to come because I was ill, said she made a pot of soup today and would come over later this aft...told her I made a big pot of soup last night so to freeze hers and thanked her..she's leaving later tonight for Detroit(meeting) so we'll get together next week and perhaps the following week if weather permits we'll go to Buffalo for the weekend. That way I can spend Linda's gift card her Rita's gift card and buy mega fabric lol

starting to snow again..not going to give up, Aunt Muriel was going to drive mom home today but they decided to leave in the morning..not pleased with my sister, to tell you the truth I find her cold, all about her, she hasn't even checked up on mom for weeks. She called over the holiday because in an email I mentioned I had called, Bernie and Mike had called..she called then

Sure is true, can pick your friend not your family so I've picked my friends to be my family..that includes all you wonderful people

a bit of a headache today. will get back to you all later tonight.
Tom is heading home. We are watching House OF Cards. I got a bit addicted to it. he is such a bad influence LOL .
kids have no school again. I m sure tomorrow will be the same. :( uhg.
