Cookie, congrats on all those ribbons. Please post pictures?

Hey Sue, nice to see you posting. Congrats on getting the looms!

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Spray a deep glass baking dish about 10x14 2&1/2 or so with kitchen spray.
Peel and slice enough potatoes to fill the pan after you add the chops.
I slice them about 3/16ths thick.

Peel and slice onions to your liking.
Peel 1lg head garlic.
Trim as much fat from the chops as you can without making a project out of it.

Lightly salt the bottom of the pan with garlic salt or salt of your choice. Save some for the potatoes.
Stagger a flat single layer of potato slices on the bottom of the pan. On the next row bridge the gaps on top of the bottom layer after four layers are reached.

Open 1 lg can mushrooms add liquid to pan, spread contents evenly to the top of the potatoes.
Open a can of mushroom soup mix with evaporated milk' Stir well and pour on top of potatoes.
Place chops on potatoes add enough potatoes to make them level with top of chops.

Press garlic and distrubite it to top layer of potatoes.
Add onion to top of chops.
Cover with enough potatoes to fill pan.

Open second can of soup and mix as above pour into and around top layer.
Lightly salt again as above and add some pepper if you wish.
Now here is the good part you can add some root veggies such as parsnips and sweet young carrots.

I also love fresh garden peas either sugar snaps or shelled but the key for me is fresh not frozen.

The choice is yours experiment a little in the 45 years I have cooked this I have never used beets but why not?

Cover loosely with foil and place in a preheated 375 degree oven. It may boil over so do your foil under thing. Cook for approx. 1:15 min or until potatoes and meat feel done.

You know it is funny it just occurred to me the concoction is really mostly just a stew.

Sorry if I didn't write this more clearly but I tried. Hope you try this and also hope you like it.

Kathy the dr gave you good advice I am surprised he did not tell you to take an asprin? You should prolly have someone take you to the hospital.

Oh Susan, your friend will have to get rid of a lot of things. Wow, 64 years in one house is a very long time. The looms sound great, now another hobby to take up. I think my sister gave up her quilt making loom. Another thing that took up a lot of space, and now that they have downsized she gave away a lot of things, the things her kids didn't want.

I finally am going to pick up the certificates from the Neptune Society on Friday. My son had asked if I heard from them yet so now I can put closure on this, I hope.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Sissy, please show us pictures of your stuffs. easy day today, potatoe salad, baked beans, off to chuch to make spaghetti for high school band, needs to be there by 1, then home to vacume, spinach dip, and start dinner. then i will work on the afghan i am making

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning familia! This morning I prepare for you DD coffee and flaky buttery croissants!!

Congratulations Cookie!! That many blue ribbons, you need to make a shadow box! Amazing! What categories did you win? Pictures will be better.
Next time I'll try Cheezits in my meatloaf. Can't go wrong with some cheese flavor!

And am happy for our Susan here for inheriting a loom. Soon you'd be able to make your own tartan cloth!

That recipe sounds good, Ernie. Think I'll avoid beets, for Kel won't touch that. The mushroom soup sold me and I'll add fresh broccoli instead. Wow, the man can cook!

We love slimy potatoes too Karen. Dang, I miss cooking that, with diabetes, I have to make sure we don't overindulge in dairy nor too much carbos.

Marion, I pray that the doctor can uncover Kim's mysterious illness tomorrow. Hope it's something that can be prevented from recurring.
I hope Sue hasn't enlarge her cat family. She needs her human family more than her furries. Yes, if I had to make a choice, I'd be willing to give up all my babies, and move on..

Sis Kathy, you got to watch your ticker!! You're really a time bomb waiting to explode. Your kids, Michael, diet, furkids, garden, church... church.. Goodness, just like the others here, I beg you to please slow down!! You may not think it's too much for you, but you are the only one amongst us here that is a familiar face at a hospital.

Not too much going on, Kel is off for a 3 hour meeting at work this morning. Again another off day spent at the office.
Poor guy had to show me the memo to reassure me that he's not having an affair!!
All because I woke him up last night as he was smiling and laughing in his sleep!!
Told him that if he's dreaming of 72 virgins, I sure can make that a reality!!!

Jaye

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

(((((Pegi)))))
Hope your son goes with you.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Told him that if he's dreaming of 72 virgins, I sure can make that a reality!!! :)

Jaye, if he is called in for a meeting he should be paid for those hours!

Morning everyone! Thanks for the coffee Jaye. What flavor is today's coffee?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I just talked to my Sis and she said Dad is doing really good at the nursing home. She said he gets tired easily, but that is normal when one looses so much blood like he did!

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

LK I have all my blood and tire easy. Even so I just came back from fishing in Alaska. I spent a week on a sailboat the fishing was great the catching was poor. I was not alone going fishless just were none any place close. The halibut I caught saved the day though.

Pegi I can only imagine how much stuff she will have to get rid of. We have been here for 42 years and we have stuff. A lot of it is to good to toss but not worth selling or I might need it again lol. I did make a start I gave my ex bil two fishing rods and a nice reel. Now if I could just get Linda to toss her childhood early American maple stero and a truck load of exter quilts lol. You see it is mostly her extra that causes her to bring HER STUFF to my shop for storage xmas bah humbug lol.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ernie, if she has extra quilts she can donate them to a church or a hospital. Lots of people in the hospital would love to get a quilt! Do you have any pictures of them? Are they handmade by someone?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Just regular DD LK! The muslims believe that if you die fighting for Allah, you'd get treated to 72 virgins in their afterlife. I told Kel, with the increasing amount of terrorists killed, he might get 72 virgin men!!! Lolol!!!
Yes he's getting paid for the hours, and maybe I'll reward myself with more fabric!!!

So glad your dad's back to his regular self though tired. He'd be that way for a while since he lost so much blood.

Oh Ernie, don't you know that what's HERS is hers, but what's yours is HERS as well?
Are those quilts traditional ones? I can gladly take some off her hands! Always wanted an old home made quilt.
My ex was a fishing enthusiast until I started fishing with him. I'd be the one catching the biggest and the most. With this 'young' man now, only way he'd go fishing is unless he can bring his ac along!

Cross posted. Yes I agree with LK. She could donate them too.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i am slowing down. i have to go visit SOMEONE in the hospital today, so don't worry it's not me being sick, it's my tax lady.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Sis Jaye, am I alowed to shoot up my turkey today? thats not to strenuous

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Good afternoon everyone. Kim and I both had doctor's appointments this morning. I was in and out and Kim had to wait as her doctor's office failed to fax the orders over! Talk about being one mad person!!! I had my Nook so I continued reading the second book in the Outlander Series.

Jaye, just love those "Highland Gingers!" :-) WEll Karen too, for that matter...

Ernie, your recipe sounds really good but I do have one question: you use condensed milk or should that be evaporated milk? Wouldn't the condensed milk make it sweet? Definitely will try the recipe though.

Great news about your dad, LK.

Kathy!!! I am just shaking my head. Woman, whatever are we going to do about you? Slow down doesn't mean cook for an army!!!!

Congratulations Joyce. I can see the smiling (actually I think it might be a grin) from here. Good job indeed.

Well need to go finish a few things before the day ends and I just vegetate for the evening.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

JKJ shoot up the turkey. I guess you are talking about getting a turkey ready to cook. We soak our turkey overnight in a brine made with 1cup salt and 1cup granulated sugar in 16 quarts water. That draws a lot of blood out of the little vessels and helps clean up the body cavity.

Lk yep and she donates some to the relay for life benefits and gives them to friends children's weddings and special occasions. They are machine sewed not hand stitched like my mother made but very pretty none the less. No pics comp crashed I got a new camera a week ago and a new computer two nights ago and am not ready yet to transfer pics yet. Me thinks Allaha is kidding a HS I miss my mother but that's another story.

Jaye 72 virgins surely not so.

Marion your right evaporated is the one I lost my head should have looked in the pantry.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

yes ernie, i'm getting a turkey ready to fry, and i am marinading 2 boston butts to be smoked, and i stilol have a half a bushel of peashes i need to can tonite.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks Ernie. I will definitely be trying the recipe as it sounds really good...my favorite things pork cops and potatoes. We usually have sweet potatoes as my daughter (Kim) is diabetic.

There you go Kathy, bustin' your butt again!!!! Although the food you are preparing sounds so gooooooood. Not sure what the menu will be at this household this weekend....wait! Major decision here: Saturday night is the first football game and all so an episode of Outlander...hummmm. Me thinks the football game might win out! Outlander will be taped.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Here Outlander plays again after the first run.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Mix with how much evaporated milk? Did I miss the ingredients list somewhere?

The flowers/leaves are still on display at the fair. If they're in decent shape on Friday night, ill try to get pictures. Only one blue ribbon, Jaye for my medium Hosta leaf, Touch of Class.

Big day today. Went with two friends to the Plant Trial Day at the Cincinnati Zoo. Hitting the couch!!

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Linda Kay so so so happy your dad is doing better !!!
Kathy hope you are doing better ,chest pains are so scary !
Sweet Potatoes ,Meatloaf all this great stuff ....YUMMY !!!
Ernie you make me feel like a slug .......with this fibromyalgia my wants to do and able to do have quite a battle and the not able seems to always win :(

Here is how my day started ........did not sleep at all last night ,Rick (husband) got up for work at 6am and left by 7am ,I decided to go get me coffee and in the middle of doing that I had this urge to go and call for my sweet girl Jack (female cat) .Called and called to no avail , so came back inside ,talked to the Lord and myself while fixing my coffee .Came back in the bedroom to wait for Ryan (son) to get home from work and then hit the sheets ! I like to talk to him when he gets home to see how his night went and to see what he wants to take for lunch again this night .Well Ryan went grocery shopping so he was about an hour and a half late getting home .He came in put down what he had carried in and came into the bedroom to tell me Jack was on the front porch !!! Took a little doing ,but caught her and brought her inside the house !
I have never seen that look of fear in her eyes before ! She instantly ran to my bedroom and under the bed and has yet to come out that was 11 hours ago . Hope she isn't sick ,I'm sure she has fleas and maybe a tick or two (yuck) .But I will let her take her time to come out .I just Thank The Lord a Hundred Times Over that she is home and safe !

Synda I am so glad to hear she is back home.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Glad to hear Jack is home. I know how you worried about her. It's a scary world out there and bet she was glad to be under the bed where it is safe.

In the 90's here and can't seem to get anything accomplished. Every move I make the sweat runs into my eyes. Come on cooler days and lots of rain!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good day everyone, as the room's quiet, I hope NONE of you have what I have.

Intestinal virus... :(( No fun.

And Marion, I'd get the series from Netflix when it's available :P

Have a better day than me sistahs and brother Ernie.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

just running threw to say hi. pt this morning, she said i messed my hip up yeserday being on my feet vall day. she had me yelling it hurt so muchback to making lasagna, and backed beans
daughter and grand son leaving for al. on the 14h. i'll be a nervous wreck until they get here

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Just had lunch smoked fish and some cheddar cheese. I love smoked fish when it is done right. Most people who smoke fish don't do it right. I can almost tell by looking at it if I want to eat it . Once in a while when smoking fish I have a train wreck. Twice in my lifetime I have burned the smokehouse to the ground. The smoked fish I just ate was very good

Synda how funny we both have critters named Jack yours is Miss Kitty Cat mine is a cockatiel of which I have five.

Pegi I have the weather you want although it's not raining hard yet.

Joycet mix milk with water 1 to 1 mix milk mix to soup 1 to 1, Cover top layer of potatoes whith soup, If you still need more liquid add a little more water.

It is very important to start by having it all covered with liquid to keep it from burning. Enjoy

Marion I am a diabetic so I totally get the carb thing but you know since my stomach bypass I have lost 95 pounds and am off insulin of any kind . My A 1 C was 10.5 and for the last year it has been 6.2 to 6.4. Not preaching a thing just saying what helped me.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

It was a very different day as my son and I went down to the Neptune Society to pick up the certificates and Darwin's ashes. They were really nice and we we sat in a very nice room while waiting for them to transfer the ashes into a cherry wood box/urn I brought with me. When he brought it back I finally realized that he is no more and eyes filled up with tears. When we left there my son took me to Cabrillo Beach, a place I hadn't been to in many many years. Earthquakes in 1971 destroyed most of the beach and it is all fenced off. But it is still beautiful. Then he pointed out the bunkers where they had guns during WW11 in case the Japanese attacked the coastline. That little side trip did me a lot of good, I relaxed a lot there before we made our way back home. I really wish we had made it down there during all those lost years. I'm really not much of a beach person but did love seeing all the shells and rocks along the coastline. I think I have closure now.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hugs Pegi.

Love the garden Sue. I can feel the love there......
Gentle hugs today Pegi......

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning.
I don't think it's a virus as it was only for a day. Think my colons had a good flushing from all the pico de gallo I've been consuming almost daily! Yesterday it was pico de gallo with pineapples and black beans added. So that helped expedite whatever trash that had been clinging on to the colon walls!! Lolol.. thanks LK.

Pegi, here's my hugs. You can go back to the to good times and know that he is in his former glory self, walking the streets of Heaven.

Lovely garden there Sue. You've always have a green thumb and an eye for design.

Ernie, I will have to stay on insulin as my pancreas is hardly producing. Congrats on your weight loss. Last A1C test for me, it was 6.4. Highest was 11, needless to say diet play an important part in those high numbers. Rice, white bread and potatoes aren't my staples anymore. I'm taking 2 kinds of insulin, along with glimepride.

Barb, how is Norm's diabetes? He's doing a good job in controlling it, I hope he can get off the insulin.

Marion, Kim's strange malady must have wreaked havoc on her diabetes. Did she discover the cause of her illness?

Karen, I think you had mentioned needing a gastric bypass surgery. Is this so? If that will see you be in better health, I'd say, by all means go for it.

Sis Kathy, stay off your feet means being horizontal or sitting down often. You are one stubborn sistah..

Waving `` Susan, lurkers.
No plans for today, the usual grab fur kids food and maybe kill a few fleas!!
DD coffee and croissants for all.
Have a great Saturday everyone.

Jaye

Jaye, I had the surgery scheduled when leukemia reared it's ugly head. The Dr. who discovered it, was the one doing my pre-op exam. He walked in said my white cell count was elevated. I asked if it would affect the surgery, his reply? Lady with a count like this you aren't going to need surgery ( in other words, go home and die)...and turned around and walked out and never returned. In a while a nurse came in and said I could go. I had to drive nearly an hour alone to get home with all this preying on my mind. I called my own Dr as soon as I got home and she had me come right in. She said the other Dr was a jerk, did confirm the diagnosis and made an appointment with an Oncologist for the next day.
As it turns out, I didn't die and am not likely to from this. It's called CML The first word is Chronic. means I'll always have it but a pill controls it. That's the one I take which is over $8000. per month. Between my insurance and a grant, all the cost is covered. It is a chemo drug, but I handle it with a minimum of side effects.
At the present time, I show no signs of the disease, my blood tests are perfect and have been for a couple years. Drs. are cautiously talking of cures now but so far mine isn't.
This is a fairly rare disease and more common to men, however my first cousin has it as does the sister of my best friend. There are different causes for the mutation to happen. Mine just did, my cousins is a result of her treatment for breast cancer.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Karen, I'm so glad you have that under control and financial help's given.
That doctor should be crowned King Jerk!!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I've said from the beginning, if I have to have one, this is the one to have. The one thing I like about living up here is, I just love my Oncologist. She's like a good friend and always tells me exactly what's going on.

Karen scary that there are Dr's who are like that ! . So glad your doing good
not much going on here today. Tom is watching football.
buckeyes are playing Navy.
thanks for all the warm hugs.
Jaye glad your feeling better.
I have to get Lucy dog food sometime today LOL

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Good afternoon everyone. Today got off with a wonderful start...had breakfast with some very dear friends I haven't seen in quite sometime. We stay in touch but our lives have been so we haven't been able to actually met in person. They moved in next door to us 47 years ago and oh the things we all did together. Their oldest child is my son's age and they have one younger daughter.......it was so much fun and I really needed today after the past 2 days.

Jaye, no they have not found the causes for Kim's problems but have ruled out many other things it might be. She had a colonoscopy and after reassuring her she wouldn't remember a thing..they would sedate her into a sleep..found it due to her sleep apnea they could only lightly sedate her. Much to risky to put her to sleep completely. Ouch at the looks and words she had for mom when I was allowed to go back. That ruled out some of the possibilities. She is doing great but the left over effect from the sedate has her slowed today.

I picked up the GDs after school and kept them until about 7 last night as their mom was having surgery. I had not mentioned anything as I was more or less waiting a little longer but we lost another grandbaby to be yesterday. It just breaks my heart and needless to say my DIL and son are so disappointed. She is doing okay but will be restricted for a while. Had a blast with the girls in spite of the circumstances.

Today I am drained!! Happy from my earlier visit with friends but 2 having procedures yesterday was emotionally draining. I am strong though and will be okay. Nothing that a nice nap won't fix so off I go........................
