I only have 4 tomato plants in a barrel planter on the deck. Only hubby and I eat them except Amelia likes the cherry tomatoes so one I planted is for her so she can pick her own. We are in the woods and just have sand so don't garden. Miss it terribly though.

I still can't get my new picture to go on my page. I thought I did exactly what you said Karen. I'm going to play around a little and see what I'm doing wrong.
Darn Pegi, maybe I explained it wrong. Let me go back and check.
Click on your name in the above post. On Member Page scroll down and click on Manage your Preferences. Under My Preferences, Click on Your Picture. First Choose File box is for your Picture, second is for Avatar. Actually either one will do. Click on Choose File, select photo you are using, I usually just double click on photo and it will up-load. When it is finished, click Send File or Send Avatar whichever you have used.
Hope this works for you.
bloosom end rot is caused by lack of calcium. put calcium phosphate in the soil this fall, with a good fetilizer
well, off to get ready for church
good morning
well not much going on here but cleaning and organizing.
may do some gardening today and may go to the gym.
OMG. Ok Savannah will kill me but.
we are at the Craft 2000 store getting her some supplies. She wanted a Stack Rack Shelf for her school locker. ITs pink very cute and pretty.
we are at the check out and she has it around her bust and says . " hey ,look at my nice rack " !!!!!!!!!!!!!
the women at the check out were crying they were laughing so hard. !
I looked at savannah and said " thats my girl "
A good Sunday morning to my family.
Thanks for that Sis Kathy, Sister Carolyn did some research at the library, and that's when she found out about the calcium deficiency, add milk powder and Tums, having lots of calcium. She did manage to harvest some unblemished ones and had as usual kindly share with me. Just that her DH really believed they got some bad seeds!! I'll tell her to try straight calcium phosphate.
Karen, when my nieces and nephew were here for a summer holiday, they raided the cherry tomato plants daily. I grew both the yellow pear shape and the red round ones, and being from the city, they had never tasted fresh from the vines, They kept saying "Bon, tante!"
Amelia will remember the things you do for her, especially growing a plant just for her.
Jaye
SAVANNAH thanks for the laughs!!!!
Morning everyone.
Ladies in California, please check in and let us know your OK, from the earthquake that hit this morning?
You should plant a cherry tomato called Sunsugar. It's like eating candy.
Your instructions were right Karen, but for some reason my picture isn't getting on my member page. Maybe I'll have to ask DG what is going on. When I first go on my computer my picture shows up, don't know how I did that.
Please keep the prayers coming for Dad. I just talked to Kathy, and she said he is having a hard time breathing. His heart rate has dropped really low, and he has a lot of fluid built up on his heart, so they have increased the lasix, and put him on a full time breathing mask, I think she said is is a cpap? He still can't urinate by himself, so they keep putting a catheter in every few hours, and that is affecting his UTI infection, so they are calling in specialist to see if he is strong enough to have a catheter put in surgically.
Prayers for you dad Linda Kay, he sure is going through some rough times.
Karen, don't know why I'm having such a hard time with pictures. Think I will just delete the ones I just put in and start over. Never did figure the picture thing when I had XP, now another all new ball game. I'll just have to play around a little.
Prayers said for your dad, LK. I pray that the specialist would find a solution. It must be terrible for you.. I bet you paced the floor waiting for Kathy's calls. ((((HUGS SISTAH))))),
I asked the Lord to keep your dad's mind calm too.
Thanks everyone!
Prayers needed for people in Northern California. 6.0 earthquake hit near the Bay Area (San Francisco) destroying a lot of people and injuring many people. This is the Napa Valley wine county where most damage was done.
Karen, I love that picture!
Cindy Davis lives in Northern California. Don't know how close she is to the earthquake, but I'm sure she felt it. Haven't heard from anyone in that part of California.
Lk, sending prayers for your dad and your family. I hope today brings much better news.
Coffee is ready....DD for those who love it!!
thanks for the coffee marion. i wish someone would tell me where the sun is
No sun here neither, Sis.
Good morning everyone. Such a cute picture of Caroline, Karen. It's a wonder she didn't grab any jewelry. Fashionista there!
Pegi, I posted on Cindy's FB page minutes ago. Hope she's spared from any calamaties.
Thanks for coffee Marion. At the Goodwill shop, did you see a red couch, all covered in cats' hair? Sorry Marion, I had to get rid of it, allergies you know. Anyway, I promise to find you a leather one for this room..
LK, what's the latest on your dad?
Ernie, you really have this 'hotel' all wound up on tomatoes! Are there any other veges or fruits that Linda lets you grow?
Having one of those "I wish today ain't happening" days..
But it's here and with what's negative surrounding in real time, I might as well start the sewing machine and continue with my chicken quilt if not I'll be wearing Thunder's shirt!!!
Have a blessed week sistahs and brother,
Jaye
If mom wore jewelry, I'm sure Sweet Caroline would have had it on. Funny thing is, we have such similar pics of mom at that age.
How precocious!! Little girls playing adult dress up are always too cute!!
Morning everyone!
Dad is doing better this morning. Kathy just called and said he is in not too much pain, and is eating breakfast.
Ernie, all those veggies look yummy!
Ooooh I love every kind of squash.
A bit of good news there, LK. Next call will be no more infections!!
Ernie, I should have known. You're a one man farmer's market. For sure your family won't starve.
Not too much of a squash person, but I'd love to snack on some fresh broccoli and green beans.
I meant to ask you, why don't you convince Linda to either sell the old washer or sell it for scraps, if it's out of commission. That would be seed money.
Cindy did reply and she said she didn't feel a thing whereas some of her biker friends did.
Jaye
LK great on the improvement and feeling better.
Jaye some more garden shots for you.
raspberries and cherries. and cauliflower and more onions and garlic and sweet peppers to go with the rest of the salsa makings.
I have grown a lot of things but next year it will be greatly reduced it's just to much work. We have built a monster on this two acres and at 71 pushing 72 I want to retire some. Maybe build a nice quail pen and get a hundred Bob White quail so I can turn about 20 loose in the yard and listen to them calling each other. They will go back in their pen ,This works in the late summer to early spring. If you turn them out during nesting season those darn little girls toll those poor little boys across the road to the woods,
Jaye I am not much of a person to sell stuff .We are getting ready for a major remodel to our kitchen and I have a perfectly good set of cabinets that I should have pre sold but I don't have the time it takes to sit and wait for no shows. Besides the first prospective buyer that showed up in a beat up old car with three kids I would say if you want them you can have them lol some salesman I would be fired the first day.
LK yes but I cannot grow pecans .I have some sweet potatoes planted though. I hope they make some potatoes. Do they flower to signal the start of potato growing like regular potatoes.
Peppers on the rack for the dehydrater. Tomatillas. Sweet peppers. Dried peppers and onions, garlic
Cherries!! Oh my, now those I can do some damage with.....I love cherries. In fact, I love all the veggies you go with the exception of the tomatillas..they just don't like me.
Great news about your dad, LK.
Ernie, I sure don't envy you the remodeling. I am just getting some finished up that was started longer ago than I care to tell. New over/cabinet is in the process of being installed now. It will be so nice after 4 months to be able to bake again.
I need to get reaquainted with my sewing machine Jaye. Think it will remember me? :-)
Like riding a bike Marion, you'll slide right back into it.
This is a good recipe for salsa verde, if you like things like this?
Tomatillo Salsa Verde
1 pound tomatillos, husked
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 serrano chile peppers, minced
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1&1/2 teaspoons salt, or to taste
2 cups water
DIRECTIONS:
Place tomatillos, onion, garlic, and chile pepper into a saucepan. Season with cilantro, oregano, cumin, and salt; pour in water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until the tomatillos are soft, 10 to 15 minutes. Boiling too much will make the tomatillos bitter.
Pour all into a blender, carefully puree until smooth.
WE HAVE AN OVEN!!!!! Yes, I know it is rude to shout but after this long I needed to do that. :-)
It is so nice, clean and shiny that I don't want to use it.
YEAH!!!! Whats the first thing your cooking? I know Kim will be anxious to get a cake in the oven!
Cook? Shoot no. I am just gonna sit and look at it while it is all shiny and new. :-)
Oh Marion - how you make me chuckle. That's probably what I would do too!!!!! Just sit and look at it!!!! LOLOLOL
Too darned hot to cook Marion.
Warning for anyone on Facebook!
If anyone gets a private message from anyone that says they work for Facebook, and that you have won the lottery, don't believe it. Delete that person immediately, and report them! It is a SCAM!!!
I got a private message from a Mary Collins, and she said she worked for Facebook. Then she said I won part of a Facebook lottery with 20 other persons. I told her there is no such thing, and that I would report her, which I did! PLEASE DON'T FALL FOR THIS!
Thanks for recipe for salsa LK. Don't know just when but I'm going to try it.
Glad you finally got your oven, Marion. Cooking and baking will just make it dirty. I don't know how to cook without making a big mess.
