Linda Kay Prayers for your dad ! Mom would lose blood and they could never figure out why or where it went .
Jaye have you been keeping an eye on your BP ? Hope you feel better soon !
All this gardening going on ....... God knows how bad I miss fresh veggies ,zucchini ,tomatoes ,green tomatoes ,cucumbers ,green beans......I could go on and on ,but those are what we miss the most ! I hate what this fibro has taken away from me !!!!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh My, I go downstate for a day and just look at all that goes on.
Hubby was a buyer for many many years at what was once the largest special machine tool building company in the world. It has been bought and for all practical purposes no longer exists. Many of the old geezers get together once a year for a reunion luncheon...mostly to see who's still alive. That was yesterday so we drove down straight to lunch then went to visit with my aunt/best friend and spent the night there.
This morning we stopped in to see youngest DD and the drove across state so I could take DGD her memory quilt. Dropped off beef jerky for several of the greats and headed home.
Got a call on the road from our real estate co. that they had a showing tomorrow morning. Yikes! knew it would not be pretty here. Got home and been working our tails off putting things to rights. Did tell agent the I'm not leaving the house until the people actually show up this time.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

I am thinking of making some salsa and canning it, Can I thicken it with corn starch anyone know?

I also need to make a batch of roasted tomato sauce I have everything I need but energy. I put onions and garlic in and roast it all at once. Sometimes I put in mushrooms including the juice. I would like to add sweet peppers but someone in this house is not having any sweet peppers in HER tomato sauce lol. After the plants are all started in the spring and up potted and fertilized and planted and weeded and watered and picked. How come all of a sudden it is HER sauce/ LOL. She can't lay bragging rights to 007 sweet Jenny if I am around because she camps on me and is my shadow besides she has 2 boys she doesn't need mine.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ernie, I don't think corn starch will thicken the salsa. For thick tomato sauce, it is usually just simmered down till it is thick.

Morning everyone!

Karen, good luck at the house showing today!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Morning everyone, please pass the coffee, I have PT tis morning. Grrrrrr

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I am putting another pot of coffee on so there will be plenty for later. I hate days like I had yesterday. It so exhausting to me to run errands especially in the heat we are having now. Saturday is suppose to be horrible with temps hitting triple digets....news is already telling people to drink plenty of liquids and not go outside unless necessary. Okay so no working outside this weekend.

Karen good luck with the showing today...my this time be the charm!! BTW, how are you enjoying Outlander? Hanging head but Kim and I have watch each episode twice...kilts are nice. :-)

Likewise about the posting Jaye, Kim really enjoyed that. BTW, you might enjoy the shirt she wore today...it's jeans Friday. The front says "Spanish Teacher" the back says "Because freakin awesome isn't a job title". Hummm, wonder if they will send her home for improper dress? LOL

Dinner with the Juniors tonight and I can't wait to hear about Charlie's experiences while in the Tortugas. I do know he had a sea turtle that "fell in love" with him and kept coming to one of the sites he was measuring and mapping. Can't wait to hear more about this.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Ernie I try a can of tomato paste to thicken your salsa .

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

I was sitting here reading and went to sleep with a cup of coffee in my hand. I awoke to the sound of running water I woke up and realized my hand was tipped to the side so I brought the cup level and looked down to see my pants awash in coffee. Thankfully it was warm not hot so nothing is hurt but I use sugar so I am off to the shower lol it isn't Saturday yet.

But before I go I need to ask you all for something. Could you sign your real name at the end of your post to help me remember your names. For some reason I don't remember the screen names names as I do real names. Thanks and if you don't want to because of privacy reasons ok to ernie

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

No prob Ernie...I'm Karen, live in Traverse City, MI

BTW Photo is of granddaughter not me. I use the photo of which ever grand or great has the next birthday. Much better looking than I.

I am Linda from Texas, lots of heat, no rain, and scorpions and tarantulas!

Well, I was just talking to my Sis, and the Dr.'s are saying that Dad may have colon cancer, that could be the reason he is losing blood. They can't do any testing such as a colonoscopy, due to his frail condition and other health problems, So Sis is going to talk to the Dr. to see what options there are for him. Just asking for prayers please?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Linda, praying for your dad every day. My thoughts and love are with you

ernie, i'm Kathy, from alabama, where it don't rain, lots of snakes, black widows, and brown recluse.

Saying prayers for your dad Linda. Several years ago I needed two units of blood and they couldn't figure out why or where I was losing it. One doctor in ER wanted me to see a surgeon for bone marrow biopsy, but that surgeon said he wasn't going to do one as he felt it wasn't necessary. Went through some more testing and all they can figure out it was from the hiatal hernia which is large. Nothing more was done and no problems since. I know your dad is too frail to do this testing and I hope and pray the doctors are wrong.

Everyone has been talking about the Outlander series and I've become interested. What book do I start with? Can't do DVD's as my player isn't working so my old stand-by is the library book. They now have decided our library will be open 6 days a week instead of 4 started 2nd of Sept.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Diana Gabaldon's first book to start with is "Outlander". Pegi it can be downloaded onto your Kindle ,Nook or whatever reader you have. Just make sure you start with book #1.......that is very important. Second book is Dragonflies in Amber. My sister is now "hooked" on the series.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm really enjoying the series Marion. Didn't take me as long as I wanted to read the newest book. By the ending, there is sure to be another.

i finished Orange is the new Black.
really tired today
off to bed and will catch up in morning

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

morning everyone, coffee and studel are now being served

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning! Thanks for breakfast!

ah lawdy lawdy i just woke up !
i was up until 2 am with my BFF . She is the one who lost her mom aug 3. We have not talked like that in yrs. i called her around 10 pm my time . CA time was 7pm.
it was so nice reminising about her mom and life in general.
She was so close to her mom. They were best buddies.
i remember when we were kids around 8-9yrs old.
She would take us to the beach and we would collect mussels. Back then you could dig a fire pit in the sand and cooke them over a kettle on the beach. She instructed us to go get some seaweed off the beach. "fresh, not hard crappy " , So we , her , her sister and i would excitedly go look for seaweed as she prepared our meal.
We eaglerly got back with our prizes of seaweed. She had her concoction of spices . I was always so mesmerized by her cooking on the beach. She would tell us to pretend we were witches making a potion and then she had this great laugh.
BTW..... they were nude beaches !!!!!! LOL . To this day i don't think my mother knows of this little minor detail. We never were nude nor her mom. IT was just the beach with the greatest mussels . :)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks for the coffee and strudel Kathy. Mornin' everyone....gonna be a hot one today.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Thanks for strudel Kathy, I have a cup of coffee sitting here waiting. Jaye has me hooked on Dunkin Donuts coffee. Market had $1 off so when on sale must buy.

Thanks Marion for telling me about the first 2 books by Diana Gabaldon. Going to check and see about downloading it on my kindle. I usually have to be put on a waiting list, everyone must use e-readers. Off to check on it. Everyone had a good day.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I'm back to report it may be a long time before I can read Outlander on my kindle. I put it on hold and I'm 199 out of 199 in line. That's a long wait, but I have several books on hold now. I definitely want to read it so I'll have to wait. Hoping a lot of those people lose interest in waiting.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Yesterday was a sort of productive day I finished it up processing about 24 ears of corn and putting it in 2cup packages. When I finished that I cleaned 2 sockeye salmon and cut it into steaks then vacuum packed it so I have several nice meals for this winter.

Marion it always seems to be a hot day there don't you ever have cold days? cold enough to put on a big coat. I love my long johns lol.

Taynors as small boys we to went to the beach. I lived 3 blocks from the bay so there were many adventures there. Of coarse we weren't supposed to go there and we had to cross the train tracks . What a great place to play. There was a log raft and we walked the logs. We build rafts and played pirates. Oh my these are all other stories. Back to the mussels we also cooked them lol we found a old coffee can rusty or not and took bay water to cook the mussels in. We told ourselves they were good but not so much. We pulled them from the piling. The bay was far from clean at that time but we never got sick from them so all was good.

Kathy did I tell you it's easy for me to remember your name because I have been married to a Linda for 48 years this dec 29th. Sorry your having such a time with your dad. Hope he turns the corner so and gets BETTER.

Kathy I will pass on the strudel but bring on the coffee. Mine must be done by now brb. MMMUMMM that's good.

Someone in this house is crazy now she wants to put our old washer in my shop that's it no more crazy ideas. Why not well no hot water, no drain, and it will freeze there . I just don't want it there so there.

Ok enough of that off to do something even if it is wrong.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pegi, I'm sure it's because of all the extra interest in Outlander right now. Maybe your library or even a used book store. Our Barnes & Noble has a used book section and I bought the entire series there. Then I loaned it to my cousin, I think she must have loaned it out as she has no idea where it is. I most likely won't ever get them back as she has alzheimer's setting in and doesn't even remember having it.

welp i got the greenhouse cleared out. ! wow 3 hrs it took in this heat and humidity.
dumped it all in the barn LOL .
eweed what great memories. The beaches have so many for me.
well i need to go to wally and get a large bin for my decorations. I m looking forward to this years . I don't have to drag them all the way out to Jessica's garden . She is tucked in my gardens by my house in the back. Easy to decorate !

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Sue, I think Jessica is just fine with the garden so close to the house. She is close and will be a lot easier for you to take care of flowers & decorations.

Well library doesn't have books either, Karen, so I will check around. I just noticed so many were interested in the books that I'm sure I should read it too. Don't want to get Dragonfly in Amber until I read Outlander. I really love it that I can go on my library web site and look up what I am interested in. If this library doesn't have it they will bring it from another library.

Just got a call to remind me of my dental appointment Monday morning. Those 2 weeks seemed to go by so fast. Then a good cleaning and I'll be able to smile again. LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone.
Pegi, the books are very good reads. You won't be disappointed.

LK. I hope your daddy's blood level is stable.

Waving to sis Kathy, Sue, Thunder, Barb, Marion, Cookie and Susan.

Here's hoping this time it will be a charm, Karen.

Ernie, did I tell you that I'm glad you're here. We need a man's point of view as we tend to be quite in agreement when it comes to men's 'foibles'!! Lol!!
I love how you capitalize, Linda in "HER"! Understood..

Mosquitoes are in full force. I swore they have their own platoon. I forget to put on Vicks, and when I don't, my skin looks like it has mini colorless m&ms everwhere!!!

Been hunkering down and sewing. Lots of repairs that had to be done. Kel's very rough with his uniform. Or the thread used must be el cheapo variety. The buttons don't stay on his pants either. No such thing as shanks sewn around them. One tug and off flew the button!

Jaye

Coat? Ernie, surely you jest. On the serious side, yes it does get cold enough at times that a jacket is welcomed but it is usually really cold and wet before I put a coat on...for some odd reason I just don't get that cold. Yeap thick skinned, thick brain and blond...oops, grey. :-)

Jaye, use unwaxed dental floss to sew the buttons back on Kel's uniforms. I did that for my kids when they were growing up..very rarely lost buttons after that.

Off to help Kim in the kitchen...late dinner tonight as we have been busy hauling boxes of "stuff" to Goodwill.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Wohoo so excited finally got ripe tomatoes. Put the chicken away and we had BLTs for dinner. Yum Yum Yum. Even Amelia enjoyed...in a way. She ate bacon, toast, tomatoes, and some of the hillbilly beans I had simmering on the back burner. She said " That was delicious" Tickles me so much.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

hello Ernie - my name is Susan, and I'm in western Canada.

hello everyone. I know it's been a long time since I've been on.
let me just tell you that
1. Jaye, I bring "you" with me everytime we go camping - the butterfly table cloth you made sits on our RV table.
2. LK - I love the nightie you gave me, and I wear it at home & camping, to sleep. I love the feel of cotton on a hot night.
3. I love you all, and miss you, but with work, and trying to get stuff ready for the baby-to-be-born of my step-son & his wife in Dec.... well....... y'know.........

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Karen it's about time you are getting ripe tomatoes. Actually I didn't beat you by much. Mine were very late this year. I love growing tomatoes I have them a couple yellow beef steaks one ea from Russia and Germany that rate very high for me. I tried them because they are supposed to be a bit cold tolerant. I don't know if that's true or not but they are both fairly early and both are prolific. It takes warm days and warm nights to grow tomatoes consistently well.I gave up for many years before getting a green house. The late blight hit me about now every year so I said forget that lol. now lookie here.

Woohooo Karen. BLT Feast at the Kosche house.. let's go!!

Now Ernie, that's a lot of tomatoes for one couple! What a bounty!
I quit growing tomatoes as I depend heavily on my DH for any physical work. I used to grow them in strawbales.
Question: How do you prevent blossom end rots? That seems to be the problem my church sister is having. She tried the powder milk treatment and even tums. Her DH swore it must be a bad batch of seeds.

((((Susan)))) It would be better if it's me that's in your camper instead of the tablecloth!!! Aww.. nice to be remembered that way.

Thanks Marion. I was thinking of using quilting thread. But unwaxed dental floss would be much better.

Got some beef stew cooking on the stove. Cuke salad with pico de gallo. Kel will be home around midnight, and knowing him, he'd push that salad away! He's been working on his days off lately. Too many quit and he's not complaining. Think he rather be at work than spend time with me.
