Well, we're having rain this morning. Radar shows that it might be passed us for a while. Thought I'd take the forced inside to do some laundry. Fixed myself two dippy eggs with toast and had my shower. I'm good to go!
I'd love to see the baby turtles. While working in the dirt yesterday I saw about 10 of the cutest 1/3 inch baby toads (or frogs). They can really move for being so teeny!
Mary if you have to put in a little of your $$ in the beginning, no worries. BUT if like us with the laundromat, when you have to add money month after month, it's time to bite the bullet and close. We did. I'm sure being the type place you have AND where you have it, you're going to be just fine.
Please be careful Dianne!
Betty....take good care of yourself! I'm praying for all those in need of what ever kind.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today!chat with friends old/new
Joyce, I did not know you owned a laundromat!
I owned a tattoo shop for a few years. I opened it for my boys to have a job, and like most brothers, they could not agree on how to run things, then the girlfriends got involved and it went downhill quickly. So it was shut down. I lost a lot of money! Hopefully one day it will be repaid? Not holding my breath!
Oh yeah, LK. Surely was a learning experience!!
Imagine Joyce in that industry you would have to be available at all hours.
Remember you saying you had Tatoo Shop LindaKay..your son works in one at present doesn't he?
It only takes one employee to ruin it for everyone.
Joyce that is so true!
Yes, both of my boys are tattoo artist. Joe, my oldest owns his own shop in Amarillo Texas, and Andy works for someone in San Antonio. So if anyone is in the area, look them up, they will give you a good deal! Tell them Mom sent ya!
Carl was here today and minded his p's and q's. He brought a load of excellent black earth from a local farmer and spread it around in a couple of the gardens I am keeping. I am very cautious with him but thanks for all the concern. He is not allowed in the house and Diesel has already scared the cwap out of him. I told him not to move quickly around me or Diesel will react - he found out the hard way with Diesel rearing up on his hind legs, front paws on the guy's shoulders and teeth bared. I have never heard such a growl and bark out of my little boy. Duke is just as protective. I've locked the sheds so he has no reason to go into them. Just a few more days work and I will not need him again.
Mary keep that positive attitude. It is so hard to get a business up and running. You and Lance can do it - you are both people persons and that is exactly what you need in your area of business. I can't tell you the number of times I pasted a smile on my face and forced myself to talk to customers as they passed by my booth. Almost always paid off! Love the idea of the GC for the day care centers.
Another glorious day here with a nice breeze off of the lake. Pups and I spent most of the day outside providing fodder for the skeeters.Deer flies are here too!
Betty did you get rain? We are supposed to get some tomorrow.
Pups are here with their food bowls in their mouth so I best feed the poor starving devils.
Dianne
No rain here Dianne, calling for some tomorrow..going to have to remember to cut grass on #4, did it and is drying out with no rain. Glad that Diesel and Duke made him cautious, likely if he had any bad interaction with them he'll not be stupid enough to come back. Sad really as he sounds as tough he is a good worker. I'm in need of good top soil, should phone Andrew.
Not into tattoos but you never know. Lol
Me and my talking to men
Blackbirds/crows got into my garbage, licked it up and saw the truck, wasn't garbage but recycle, man said 'ma'am, you know how to stop crows from getting in your garbage!". Said 'yes, put it in a proper container' he smiled "my dad said to get a couple slices of bread, mush up some eno (drats forgot already..what you take for upset stomach, fizzles) crush it and put it inside the bread then set it ontop of the bag, they eat it, froth at the mouth, doesn't hurt them but they remember your place and think not going there'
Just what we were talking about , crows talk to other crows and remember
Ouch ouch ouch
I think I'd rather have my snow than heat like that..
You are scaring me away from Texas LindaKay
If its that temp now hate to think what end of July will be like
It is going to be warm!
Big sigh
Bigger sigh
Greg just dropped in to put towel rack, mirror and lights up
Got towel rack on, took old light down, what kind of idiot puts up pine, boxes in where the light will be, doesn't put pine there..so now I have to return the light, get one with a long long wide base so it covers the area..he didn't put light up because he said he needed to know how the new light will hang. Grrrrr
Gong to stop this renovating.
Need new ceiling in basement, before I do that Greg advises me all the duct work should be replaced to make it more efficient, then then then. So not so sure I want to undertake such a project.
No wonder blood pressure is high. Lol
Sounds a lot like my life, Betty. Sometimes I just have to put on my mental blinders and enjoy what is done. If there are no emergencies, that is. Any renovation seems to take longer and cost more and involve more changes than you would have thought possible.
Know that you are not alone and when this is done take a brreak before starting something else, no matter how simple you think it is going to be.
More car trouble this morning. Tony knows of a van which is already licensed in the US that is for sale. I may check it out.
Everything caught up with me and I crashed and slept all afternoon.
Feeling better now. One step at a time.
hugs, katie
Glad you got to rest Katie, no doubt the car issue is playing heavily on your mind.
Checked Canadian tire listing for bathroom lighting, have to get something a little larger and more expensive..will go tomorrow to see if they have one in stock.
Meant to tell you I got heck, real good ( grin)
Greg asked me who cut the grass, I said someone..he knew
I told asked him if over the weekend he could bring the push mower for repair?? Why?? Ooops had to say I hit a rock and it's pinging
Got
That's karma mom, you were told how many times by everyone to rest, you just had to cut grass..looks good on you.
He is his dad's son, that he is
Perm tomorrow and do I need one
Well Betty, at least you'll have to sit for the perm.
Wish I could share my low blood pressure with you. Mine goes so low sometimes, it makes people nervous. Normal for me is 90-100 over 60. One good thing I got in my genes.
Morning all,
Big smile Karen..yes, means a few hours of rest!
The sky is dark, doubt it's possible to miss my region today but that would be a good thing, do so need rain.
Have a few priorities today, must finish the canvas for the wedding, hard to enjoy painting a leafless tree, no way of making it look good, then frame the poem that goes with it. Out to look for new light fixture then perm..that ought to take me out of mischief.
LindaKay, know you will be in an oven, no chain pace of playing outside, likely Jean and Mary as well.
We know where Joyce will be, gardens for sure
And the rest of you, what do you have planned?
Coffee and porridge waiting for me, hungry this morning
Hopefully getting out this morning to do some Father's Day shopping for Norm. He is soooo good to me and deserves so much more than we can afford but I know he will love whatever I get for him....
Might check out a yarn store too. I thought I might make lace scarves for the older granddaughters for Christmas.....They already have quilts from Gram....
44F here .. maybe 75F expected later .. sunny with perhaps a thunder storm later in the day ..
Busy sprucing up the place for the visitors arriving on Sunday, but, at the same time, so worried about Lorna!
LOTS of aches and pains after going back to back, and, BUG BITES galore :-(
Despite extra effective Watkins bug repellent.
She most certainly has a tremendous amount of work to do ..
Katie hope things come together re a vehicle ..
Enjoy your perm Betty .. Home Depot has LOTS of light fixtures ^_^
LindaK .. try and stay cool !!!!!
TooDLES
~M~
A bit more to do to get this place ready to list. Just really not up for it this time.
Lab called they forgot to do one of the tests requested with my blood draw. Sigh, have to go back to town tomorrow any how, go a bit early and let em poke again.
Supposed to meet a friend for lunch today, She lives on other side of the state and we just reconnected from in the 70s when we were neighbors. BUT both grands were called into work so we have to postpone until next week.
Pouring here, need Noah's arc but that's good, grass and flowers will benefit.
Barb, any ideas on what you might get for Norm and yes he is a special fella, so enjoyed your visit, lordy he was up and at it getting us Timmies (or was that because he wanted Timmies and likely we'd not have gone) lol The lace scarves are perfect for Christmas gifts..I usually go gung ho and buy the extra skein as I find one skein just isn't enough, then I think if I bought 3 I'd get 2 perfect scarves.
Karen, you aren't changing your mind are you about listing? New agent, this time will be the charm! Sorry you will miss out visiting with your friend.
"M" do you think once the catch up on all the landscaping/trimming etc is done she'll be able to relax more..is there not a young fella helping her. Is it Lorna's parents arriving?
with rain coming down I decided to run into town, Home Depot wasn't open yet but Home Hardware was, got the fixture, was on sale, saved $50 so that was good, not as ultra modern as the one I had but got to hide that mess so I'm happy again. Greg said he'd try to drop in after work, told him I'd be getting perm but I'd leave everything he needs in the washroom.
Danielle e-mailed me, had sent her photo's of the tree with no leaves and the wording painted
Blessed in Marriage on June 13, 2014
Danielle and Jason
Thing is with head a pounding these past few weeks and eyesight the pitz not the best I do but best I could do at this time
I'm sure they will love the tree Betty. It will be a special ever after momento of their day.
sitting here spritzing black tea to take away the whiteness of the paper..will iron and see if it will go through photocopier, here's hoping
poem reads
OUR ROOTS
Instead of a Guest Book,
We thought for a change
We’d have something different
When signing your name.
This is our tree
With no leaves on, and so ….
We’d like our guests
To help make our tree grow.
It’s easy, it’s fun
Grab an ink pad and then,
Make leaves with your finger
Sign your name with a pen.
When everyone’s finished,
And you’ve all been so clever
Our tree will be framed
And we’ll keep it FOREVER!!!!
Thread getting long,
moving us over
