Morning Betty. Hoe your feeling better today!
Just made hummer food, waiting on it to cool to feed the hummer. 12 feeders to clean and fill every 2 days keeps me busy! Now that it is hotter, they drink like little fishes! :)
Best/Worse/What did I learn today!chat with friends old/new
A/C peoples here to install the new unit for downstairs. Good thing as we are expecting 90s this week.
Betty! Surely you jest. Am I all caught up....never not at least for another couple of weeks or so. Kim has decided she wants to totally redo what she calls her office; so we have boxes of things packed and labeled as to their final "resting" place but still tons of work to be done. Unfortunately it is slowed down as she has in house workshop this week at school.
Barb, I love pansies but it gets so hot here so quickly, after they are available to buy, that it just isn't worth putting them on my list. I haven't figures out yet why we can't buy them in the winter months like we can petunias.
Waving to all...LK have hummer food cooling also.
Holy cow LindaK, we have 4 Hummie feeders, but, as it tends to be cool here .. only getting to maybe 60F the next few days, we change them every 4 days or so ..
Our mix is 3:1 .. will hike it up to 4:1 later ..
Betty, keep thinking about Christmas, your bathroom will look beautiful, and, FINISHED .. I know it'll be way BEFORE then, but, it's a goal ..
Lorna was sure tired when she got home from work last evening, but, she felt pretty good this morning, ready to get back to her power edging working in the beds to get them ready ..
I got this link in email this morning, Lorna watched it and left here feeling on top of the world ..

Heading for town to buy perogies from the Polish Legion, and, walk the dogs by the Lake
Have a wonderful day everyone
^_^
~M~
I've only had a couple LindaKay, wow Texas must be the home of hummers!
a few photo's from yesterday
1. not sure how the ladies get to work with Missy around
2.June is smart, keeps asking Pat (how do you do this) Pat sits and before you know it, quilting
done
3.Ann finished off 2 incubator covers, front back has panelts so mom's hand can touch baby
underneath is navy, they want dark colors so baby think they are still in the womb
4. Aline making placemats
hard to believe the age of some of the women, Pat and June turn 80 this month.
OMG, you can't help but wonder why we have anything to feel sorry about.
I'm sending that video to all I know. "M", I can surely imagine how Lorna felt after watching it. I shall not complain again..... I'm so lucky and so grateful to God.....
That video is awesome!
Oh wow! Bill and I watched it together. Were both sending it on. What an awesome guy! Love it that he seems to ALWAYS has a smile on his face!
Great videa, thanks for posting.
My Suburban is now registered and licensed!! Tomorrow we'll get notorized statements that I can drive it. Then insurance. Almost done. Registration was the biggie so we did a happy dance when we got the new plates.
Max is still cautious with other; he growled at Maria yesterday but didn't bit or even snap and she had tried to reach over his head to pet him. Can't do that with a dog who has been abused and she apologised. This morning Max and I woke up and PLAYED together - he was more relaxed than he's ever been before. Sometimes he takes a giant step.
Watched "A dog Year" on HBO this morning as my insides are still riled up about something. Very god movie and good timing.
The doctor is out of town. There is another one I could go to but I'm feeling better so probably won't.
aria knows a woman who takes care of foster kids; I'll meet her when I'm feeling better.
Big hugs, especially to Debbie. Group hug, OK?
hugs, katie
Wow M! Thanks so much for sharing - I too am sharing this video with friends. Won't catch me complaining or moaning about what I can't do now that I used to be able to do again for awhile. In fact I am going to bookmark the video so I can use it to remind me of how lucky I do have it. I am with you Joyce the smile on the fellow's face is something else!
Had 3 delicious weather days then rain all of yesterday.Today the mugginess has gone and it is much cooler with quite the breeze coming off of the lake. I'm loving it!
Went for my blood tests early this morning then came home and went to bed for a bit to get some sleep. Pups and I then went outside to see what damage we could do. I raked on the south side of the house where I am letting some gardens grow in. Lots of weeds, dead leaves and snakes there.Several baby rabbits to amuse Diesel. Fortunately there is so much brush the rabbits just tease Diesel and make him run around willy nilly while they find shelter. Duke surprised me just a bit ago. He has a very high prey instinct so I was shocked when I found him sitting beside a box at the front of the house. He was barking for me to come to him. When I got there I noticed a wee bird on the box but all Duke wanted to do was tell me it was there. We all came inside and about an hour later I noticed the wee bird had flown off. I went out and checked the ground around where the bird was just to make sure it wasn't there.
Katie I hope you have your pain under control by now and you have seen the local doc. It must feel very good to have so many things falling into place for you. Big weight off of your shoulders!
M at least it is fresh grass cuttings your pups like to roll in - mine prefer rather odious fish guts or some other repulsive thing they can find. I will be glad when I can bathe them in the lake again. Steve's DD and her friend swam in the lake on Sat - much braver than I. Of course they are 12 and not in their 60's.
Duke revisits the vet tomorrow. I think we are going to have to tweak his meds but overall I am very pleased. Hopefully they will cut his nails for me too. My ribs still don't want to co-operate and it is such a struggle to hold Duke down and then cut his nails.
Ladies look like they are really enjoying themselves Betty. How are you feeling today?
Barb are you able to get outside now and get a bit of exercise? Were you able to hang some flower baskets?
Mary how goes the battle?
Debbie have you heard from Crissy lately?
Feel like another dizzy spell might be coming so think I will go lay down and see if it will pass. Sometimes if I feel it coming and I take a couple of gravol then lay down I can minimize how bad the spell will be.
Dianne
Sending prayers that it passes quickly Dianne.
No, I haven't gotten permission to put a nail in the wood. So I will get a basket of some kind and place it under my window where I can see it. If it is not high enough, I will put something else under to lift it up. I WILL find a way!!!!
I know you will Barb. Will be nice to have a splash of colour out there. Back to lay down, Duke just needed a quick run outside.
D
Just ate 'b.b.q. pulled port on a bun, now I'd love to lay back and nap..not nauseated but in mega pain re shoulder and neck, bend down and get a sharp pain across the eye/forehead but not going to complain, it's minor in the grand scheme of things, keeping in mind the link we watched!
got to be a way Barb, even a little crate allowing you to set it at window length. perhaps you could go speak with the tenants of that apartment, tell them how much you miss your gardens.
Dianne, isn't it amazing how gentle Duke can be, poor birdie must have been terrified. Wind is up here as well, feel a lot cooler than it really is.hate to see you having these spells, scary isn't it? was
was looking at the calendar, going to be in Trenton on the 28th, guess I should be on the lookout for a hotel before I forget and mom/Aunt Muriel and I havel to sleep in the car. do you think it's about a 3 1/2 hr. drive?
Katie you really have come a long way this month..bet you are anxious to leave for California?
Hi Y'all.
We are doing the slow boil here. 90 daytime/high 70's at night and after a week+ of rain, the humidity is very high and very wet. Like walking through a heavy fog but you can see where you are going.
Saw Barb's post about hanging baskets from the deck above...check out these Shepherd's hooks. WalMart, Target, Lowe's, Home Depot and a number of garden centers have them for sale. Varying heights and designs for many sizes of hanging pots.

Hope you all have a lovely evening and a reason to smile.
Thanks Jean!!! I should have thought of that!!!! I will check those out. I know our Joanns has some of them too.
Jean, bet you are saving nice weather for me. Lol
Must be terribly uncomfortable.
Yes, some of those self standing flower units would be perfect..
I have talked to Crissy a few quick times on FB, she seems to be doing well but very busy.
I will have her come do an update if she can.
Katie, thank you for the hug, much needed.....and gladly one back for you!!!
Progress has been made! The new threshold has been done (brick design done with ceramic tile) and the most important: the new a/c unit has been installed and now the house is bearable again. Got a notice the wall even shipped earlier than I was told so here is hoping that will be installed soon.
Life is good!
Woo hooo on the new ac unit being installed Marion!!
Jean it is so good to see you post. You are in my thoughts every day as I listen to certain pieces of music.Hope your recovery is continuing at a steady pace..
Listening to a PBS special on 50's and 60's music - not exactly something that will lull me to sleep is it?
The gravol and wee nap did the trick - I managed to dodge a full blown attack of the dizzies.Woohoo. I wish this would work every time.
Betty how is your pain level now? I am hoping you are asleep . Does the pain wake you up sometimes?
Dianne
Mornimg,
Debbie, thanks for the update on Crissy, glad things are going well for her..sometimes busy is good!
Marion, bet you are overly thrilled to being on your way to having this project behind you. Can't do without a/c living in your temps. Don't need ours on often but is nice to have when you do, glad I had it installed last year. Hope there will be photo's, anxious to see..did you think of before and after photo's? Kim off for the summer?
Oh happy days Karen, put your feet up and relax today..always nice to be home..no more travel plans for the summer? How many did you bring home with you?
Dianne, watching BT, looking as to what the weather will be like this weekend, heard of the news in Moncton 3 RCMP officers were shot to death, 2 others with non life threatening injuries, so senseless..town in lockdown looking for a 28 year old man dressed in army fatigues carrying arms..so hope no more lives are lost.
Got to be the weather playing havoc with my head, was in bed just after 6, got a few calls, one Suzanne, told her we would have to talk today..as for the pain, yes often wakes me up. Mom called yesterday, as far as I know we will go to buffalo early Saturday morning but things can change.
Morning everyone! Nice to see Jean posting!
Karen, she is such a cutie pie!
Marion, glad to hear construction is going well!
Katie, nice to hear your transportation problems are getting fixed!
OH MY Karen .. SWEET CAROLINE is right, what a little charmer !! Look at those beautiful dimples .. just precious ..Glad you made it back ..
Marion ,,, and can only empathize with you and Betty and anyone else who is renovating to ANY degree .. were it me, I'd move out til it was done and everything put back in order !!
My kitchen was turned topsy turvy during renos of it, I thought I'd lose my mind .. couldn't find 'things', water off, water on, power off, power on .. arrrggghhhh .. was nice when completed, but I was a wreck !!
Betty, joining you re the pain deal .. my own fault, cleared off the patio yesterday .. moved tables, hoses, chairs carpeting, basically de cluttered it. Lorna's parents arrive on Fathers Day .. and, without her help, well, I'm pretty much on my own .. DH is good, but, like ANY man, he has NO focus and has to be told what to do .. yesterday I had dropped one of my reachers on the patio, now, there is NO way I can pick it up ..yet .. he walked OVER it 3 times .. that's when I blew a gasket !!!
Dianne, glad the gravol staved off a bout of vertigo!
Nice your weather, and the lake, are going well ..
Beautiful morning here ..
Lorna just left for work, I gotta tell ya .. it is NOT easy for her to get ready .. I make her lunch .. but, she has been having problems with 'the leg' :-(
Last night she had thought she had bit off more than she could chew re the job, and I told her that her ONLY problem was trying to go too FAST ..
She has a fella (Brody) who is her partner, he's a young man, with a small family .. and, very good to Lorna ..
I feel, once she gets 2 weeks under her belt, she'll be fine. Fingers crossed! Prayers appreciated ^_^
Yes Betty, I watched a video clip of the shootings in Moncton New Brunswick, holy cow .. unreal !!! How scary to have to lock yourself inside your HOME to protect yourself!
Will watch for updates during the day.
Have Dahila bulbs to plant, gifted by a friend, love Dahlias, have never grown them!
Also have a Mum to plant as well .. bought it 2 weeks ago, and, it's hurtin !!
Take care everyone Hugs all around
~M~
I saw those shootings on the news here. Sending prayers to all the families involved! I pray they catch him soon!
Sorry to hear that her leg is giving her problems.I hope it will be an easy fix!
Betty, it sounds like it is time for you to go back to the Dr.'s?
Thanks, Sweet Caroline is such a photogenic child just like her mama. It didn't matter what was going on every photo of Amanda looked like a magazine shot. SC says the funniest things, whenever I see her, which isn't real often, she says, "Grammy, you came back".
Meant to say Caroline is just too adorable, how you must love to be around those little ones.
Going to bed early and not answering my phone isn't good..
Darlene had called to say that they had just called, didn't think her mom would make it through the night, still haven't heard..not a very good friend am I
Had to come into Barrie today, Suzanne called early, after calling she said I'll be there in 1/2 hr. to pick you up, said I was fine but she was adament..then on our way she insisted I have blood pressure checked so went and got that done
systolic - 210 Diastolic + 99 and pulse 67
likely why my eyes are blurry and headaches right..will call Dr. and make an appointment.
be back to gab in a sec
Betty, that is not good numbers for blood pressure!
Sending prayers for Darlene!
thank you,
It was her mom's choice not to continue with blood transfusion or any other life support..hard for sure...keep waiting for her to call
"M" sorry to hear about Lorna, perhaps she thought she was stronger than she really is. She's probably going 'gung' ho to prove the point that she can do it, doesn't all have to have it tip top shape in one week, know she is trying though.
You as well are overdoing, listen who is talking right? Men lol he probably said why didn't you ask me to pick it up right?
Betty!!! That blood pressure reading id just not good. Do something about it...Now!!!
We need you around for a long time yet so take care of yourself, please.
spoke with Dr.'s office, of course Suzanne has appointments today so don't want to disturb her schedule, Dr's office said something has to be done, Dr. won't be in tomorrow and she doesn't want me leaving it over the weekend. She had the Dr. speak with me, a new perscription, think it's called Norvask is waiting for me at pharmacy, I'm to take it, rest and if not feeling any better to go to emerge until I go Monday at 3:45 for an appointment. He said if it was down he'd kick me in the butt and send me on home, if not, we'd be doing something about it..lol
leave it to Dr. Jilesen
told me not to be a martyr, from the sounds of it I've put it off too long, does he know me or what
I'm glad the doctor knows you so well Bessie Lou but I'm going to be the Dutch Uncle here and give you HE--!!! You are a grown woman who has always been the first one to tell others to take care of themselves and look at you!!!! Shame, shame, shame. Your body tells you when something is wrong and you ignore it. Shame, shame, shame. Why won't you listen to what it is telling you? You know I say this with love and Lord how I wish I were there to kick your butt!!! You are so important to so many of us. Please don't make me come up there as I really can't afford to do so BUT I WOULD IF I COULD!!!
We can all get in line to kick her butt.....
I agree with what Barb said, listen to your own advice! Do you have a blood pressure cuff at home? If not you need to get one today, and keep an eye on your blood pressure!
Getting in line behind Cookie!
No need, sitting watching a movie, comfiest as can be..am sure meds will help
Its Sandoz- amlodipine
Thanks Dianne, I too think of you often and do wish I lived closer. We would be great partners in mischief and music. ((HUGS) for you and the fine furry boys.
Betty....tsk tsk tsk....you lose your "mother hen fussing rights" when you don't heed those who are fussing for you to take care of yourself....it can be hard to admit that we are not invincible, but harder still for those who love us, to watch us slip away....too much chaos as we age, and it is so painful to know some of it was controllable.
Sending good thoughts for Darlene. It is never easy, no matter how prepared we think we are.
Katie, so happy for you...the small victories are sometimes the sweetest...I am sure you know that, but do know you are often in my thoughts.
LK, I hope to get to the Post Office Friday. I will let you know when the bulbs are sent.
M....perhaps it is the steel toed boot that is causing Lorna grief. She may be able to use a regular work boot with her prosthesis and the steel toed boot for her foot.. It would be well worth looking in to IMHO.
Barb....some times we think so long and hard on a problem the solution smacks us on the head. I don't know why I didn't think to post that sooner...I have used shepherd's hooks for baskets for years...duh!
Marion, Sue's learning to cope is wonderful news and a great relief for you. And getting a/c in the deep south is a joy and a blessing...not to mention an absolute necessity. GRIN.
Debbie...shame on children with selective memories...how easily they forget the things that caused us grief and worry.....I do agree with Betty...perhaps a little distance would be a good thing for you and a lesson for them.
Hugs and good thoughts to you all, and a bit of sunshine.
(it takes me a while to type left handed, I do not want to have this post evaporate like some of the others)
No hurry Jean! Thanks so much for the bulbs!
Temps in the 100's here yesterday and today. Maria has visited both days, enjoying my a/c and helping to get the van stuff in order. She heloed me with a roblem with Twink who tends to be always in a "oet me, reas withsure" mode. She tried to pet Max and he snapped at her - clearly a fear response. We diagnosed it as "has a screw loose" and accept that we have to be causious with him. He lived in the streets of town before i got him so who know if he's been hit by cars or beaten up or what. He has improved a lot but will probably be more jumpy and easily scared than the dogs I have had since they were puppies.
Maria and Tony will meet up in twon later today and get the notarized papers that say I can drive the car which is now in Tony's name. With insurance I'll be good to drive.
Too hot to stay on the puter.
Betty, take care of yourself.
hugs, katie
So much going on, as per usual, would be a dull day if there wasn't a busy thread sewing us all together ^_^
Betty .. I hope the Norvasc works .. it should, but, be cautious if your vision blurrs, or your headache remains .. 2 danger signs of STROKE .. there I said the WORD all of us are thinking ..
You are precious cargo to all of us dear lady ..
Well .. Lorna called the prosthetist from work .. he saw her STAT.. a bolt had come loose!!
No wonder she was having so much trouble!
So, he was waiting in the parking lot for her so she didn't even have to walk into the building .. lol, kinda like a PIT CREW stop !!
Went to a 'high end' greenhouse today, they put their topsoil on to get everyone there !!
Walked out with $2oo. worth of plants and veggies and soil .. I have a gorgeous hanging basket, and have made up a large square planter filled with pink and purple wave petunias and Sweet Potato Vine (3 types)
Am going to container plant a few of the Dahlia bulbs, d'ya think that'll be OK?
As always I have pics .. this years Bleeding heart .. yes, those are aluminum pie plates on sticks, they keep the deer away from the DayLilies .. you may also be able to see some of the pretty mulch in the tree pits.
One is a pic of DH with the dogs, we were walking at the Marina yesterday, and a pic of 2 ships in front of our world famous Sleeping Giant ^_^
Off to plant those Dahlias
~M~
"M" you have the aaSleeping Giant and we have Giants Tomb..love the peacefulness of the water, both have a story in folklore. Do you go to waterfront often? We all have concession waterfront, it's a few blocks away as is waterfront park but I never seem to take the tme to go sit..guess I should!
Lordy, shaking my head, and here Lorna worked in pain for something so simple. Linda who has been having her custom brace tweaked over past month just had it sent back to manufacturer as an entire piece was missing, wouldn't you think that the specialist who tweaked it week after week wouldn't have noticed it missing?
Your bleeding hearts are humongous "M" wish I could grow them.
Katie, glad to hear your getting everything in order. Will you be going to California soon?
"M", your gardens are beautiful!
