Bleeding Hearts are another of the plants I miss so much. They were one of my grandmother's favorites too. I tend to love what she did.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today!chat with friends old/new
Katie, do most of your neighbors go home for the summer?
Poor Max, everyone trying to befriend and just not ready for it yet..must have been abused.
Bessie Lou, you had better not be going to Buffalo this weekend!!!!
Echoing Debbie "Bessie Lou, you had better not be going to Buffalo this weekend!!!" Please Betty no matter how much your mam will be disappointed or whine please do not strike off for Buffalo. Remember you are as much a danger to yourself as you are to others on the road until you get this BP under control. Two days of new meds will not make things AOK...... you need a bit longer for them to do their magic.
Duke and I saw the vet this afternoon. Not sure her office will ever be the same. Dr. Heather got to see him totally out of control while she attempted to trim his nails. Poor little Duke was so scared he peed, he pooped and he puked. Within all of his struggles he managed to give the most wonderful vet tech a nasty scratch on her arm. I am to increase his daily meds when I know he will be facing stressors. I have someone coming to work here next week so will try the increase then. I am thinking Katie's Max and little Duke have a lot in common.
Believe it or not I could have had a fire today. It is very chilly, colder inside than it is out. It rained almost all day.
Katie I am so happy to read things continue to fall into place for you.Are you still playing online poker?
M how wonderful that Lorna's guy would make a 'pit' stop. Sure hopes this helps her. We are all cheering her on!!
Dishes are calling my name. Wish the guy would get here to fix the dishwasher. Fortunately 1 person doesn't dirty too many dishes - just glasses.
Dianne
Evening,
Opened this page as Rita was leaving, telling me as she shook her finger "no Buffalo" and here you are with same.
I will call mom in the morning and tell her as much as I want to take her I no can go..maybe I will call her now.
I've been in bed since 5:00pm, was sleeping, woke to Rita coming to check up on me, wants to have a sleepover but I said I said no
Then Linda called
Then Suzanne called
Then Sharon called
Nice I've got them checking on me but one can't sleep with all the going on's
Promised all I'd call them if I need them during night
Had to cross my heart I would
Think I will phone mom
You really should have a blood pressure cuff at home so you can check it at intervals.
Morning
Called mom last night, she understood about no Buffalo..I really did feel bad.
Hard weekend ahead of her.
Going to make toast/coffee and not do much today
Titan says she is making homemade soup and bringing me lunch..
Darlene stays she has Mike's machine and will bring it when able to
Overcast out there nut are calling for a sunshine day.
Good morning
Popping in quickly this morning as it is knitting day. And since it takes me almost a full hour to shower and then I need to do the hair, I don't plan too much now on a Friday morning.
But I'm hoping you are not upset with me Betty for "talking" to you as I did yesterday. BP is nothing to fool with and is just as serious as your blood sugar levels. Both can be catastrophic if not paid attention to and deadly at worst. We all love you dear heart.......
Have a great time at the knitting bee Barb ..
Many have tried, and failed trying to teach me how to knit ..
Nice of Darlene to give you Mike's BP machine Betty .. they come in handy !!
Bleeding Heart does VERY well here in the North .. see a lot of it around.
Out for lunch with my BFF, Jo, doubtless it'll be a 2 hour meal .. always is .. good thing the restaurant overlooks gabby ladies ^_^
Dianne .. feel bad for poor Duke !!!!!!!!!! Hope he has settled down ..
Off n running
~M~
You are enjoying your knitting group Barb, that is wonderful!! Project of mitts for kids is very worthwhile.maybe while you are out you can be lookng for a plant stand. Is it more a town or a city where you now live?
Never upset with anything you all say, as with me it's done out of concern and love.
Suzanne just dropped in on her way to work, wanted to check up incase I need anything so all is well in my world.
Wondering how Darlene's mom passed the night, anxious to hear.
So it's a rest day for me...
Now you know I'll not be able to just sit and do nothing for the next 3 days, little things can fill my day right..as long as I take lots of breaks..
Off to walk the gardens, sun is shinning and I see it filtering through the trees, yikes, didn't realize just how shaded back gardens are since I've planted trees all over, they sure must like sand as they are growing like crazy.
Betty, My BP was 194 over 111 when I had my heart attack three yrs ago. Nothing to take lightly. I take Norvasc which is generic for Amlodipine along with all my other drugs but am doing good. Take care and do as you are told. Love you. BEV
Nice to go out "M" with old friends and share laughs. Bet you are missing Lorna!
I will get a photo of my poor white bleeding heart, I little stem. Lol
Dianne, is duke over the trauma of yesterday? Poor thing..he's come a long way though hasn't he.
I also turned up the heat, the wind was strong and body just chilled, guess we are getting used to heat and can't take the cold. Did you get all your doors done?
Was looking this morning on how many hours to Trenton it is..must try to find wedding invitation to know where the closest hotel/motel is to it. Been awhile since I've been in that direction. Thought it might be good to not take 401 but back roads from here ending near Port Hope..which did you find the best way to travel when you were doing sows in this area?
Morning everyone!
Betty, glad to hear your not crossing the border this week end! Hard to believe you did not have a blood pressure machine before now! That was one of the first things the Dr. told Todd to get when he was told he has high blood pressure. Try not to eat too many salty things, that is a no no.
Enjoy your lunch "M"!
Well, today is last day of school for all the Grand kids here in Texas. They are all looking forward to summer vacation!
Will do Bev..maybe just needed meds tweaked.
How are the gardens coming..I often think of Debbie and our visit with you, your memorial area made one feel so at peace.is your son still staying with you?
Debbie needs a laugh so I'll say remember corn fields and Route 66
Suzanne had brought over Lenny's last time then he needed it so if Darlene can't find mike'ss I will go buy one.
Your school gets out so early LindaKay, but then they must go back in August right. The grands will visit you more often?
Only think about not going to Buffalo is I had packages to mail out, seed promised, RWB swap package, another package sooo guess on Monday I will mail from Barrie..mailing from here takes forever and a day to get anywhere..july4th is fast coming fast, hate for my package not to make it on time.
Betty, your partners will understand! Your health comes first! Today is only the 6th. Maybe by next week end you will be up to a trip!
Yes, school starts back up towards the end of August here.
Actually weekends in June are all gone, weddings
So I will mail Monday and hooe for the best.
Last 2 pkgs mailed from here arrived within a week so hope there is that they will make it on time.
Gabbed with Greg, he and Mel are leaving for a Spidder Ralley, 6 hr drive Orth, will be back late Sunday. Mel had sent me photo's this am, caption 'I did this all by myself last night'. Was 2 lounge hammock chairs she made cover and cushion for..she is getting mighty handy with sewing..maybe I am rubbing off on her. Lol
Decided to go through my box of seed for something to do, wow I saved a loot, should scatter in the gardens and if they take hurrah, if not oh well
Hi everyone.
Ohhh Betty!! Bells and Whistles exploding, so very glad you are not traveling.
All the swaps and mail can wait, I am very sure people would rather wait and know you are taking care of your health oppose to stressing over the delivery...
Applauding, what everyone has said and I do hope you heed the advise and get to the doc, not just a phone call. You do realize the other side of the coin here, Stroke, Heart attack, ??? or worse DEATH!
While i understand your concern of Suzannes schedule, Uhhh, I would think those numbers would have trumped all and why is she the only person able to drive you to emergency??
OMG, and now while my #'s are going up, i am going to ask, why is it your kids don't "make/take" you...
i'M GOING TO BE QUIET now.
And Yes, I am in that same line kicking your butte because I Love you too Betty!
My greats in TN had their last day May 19th. They go back the beginning of August. I had heard they were talking of changing to get more in line with the rest of the country.
Kids didnt know I've not been well, Jeff's in NYC this week,I did tell Greg this morning only because I'm sure someone will or ask how I'm doing and he be angry. Got ,you are to do nothing but lay on the couch' told him grass doesn't cut itself.
Am being good though, did a bit and head pounding so couch it is for a bit.
Been looking out and see a few flowers have bloomed, why of why do weeds grow taller than flowers?
You would think Karen that it would be better to be off during hottest months..ours are July/August . Talk here of changing it to six weeks school, 2 off, six weekens on 2 off etc ..few trial areas but don't see them following through.
Well, I have been a busy, busy bee...actually We, Jake and I.
He has taken some time off from school! HE GOES back in August.
Well while he is here I am taking every advantage of his help.
He has me working every waking moment! Lol yep do get some breaks.
But the cool thing is he recognizes just how much work gardenin is, And why it is taking me so long.
So, finally took some photos...
#1. Entrance to the garden walk. Jumanji sporting her new do for the season.
This is a cool plant called the Bat Plant...Hummers love them.(I have a close up on phone.)
#2. My fairy garden!! SO smiling, Got the little pieces from Sistah gathering. SUnshine/ Joyce took me to the nursey specifically for fairy garden pieces... I also got the tall plant in the back fromTn. Sistah gathering...iy should grow to about 3 ft. Will have a beautiful yellow/ white flower. I named Blondie... big smiles and hello to Sherry.
And the last is my tiny fairy garden.
also from istah gathering! These chicks and hens are from Sunshines garden.
and the big cuppa from Tn S
G. My pretty little fairy and tiny mushroom from my Sunshine.
Ok be back in a few!
Love your gardens Judy! Glad to hear Jake is home helping!
Hi Linda kay, thanks!! I just love them too!
So this past Monday/ tuesday...we worked on the green house.
Pulled everything out and reorganized and hosed down.
OMG...Was more a shed and not a greenhouse!
Work with Jake can be kinda tiresome. He's got lots of ideas and we tend to jump from one project to another on a simple thought! Like oh I wish I had a tool stand.
...dad came home with a truck load for the dump!
And so not spending a penny, my trash (old decking) To treasure tool stand.
Big smiles, He used my tools! No plans, built as we went!
Wonderful gardens Judy, love the ducks, for some reason they just catch my fancy.
Judy that is great tool stand! Nice job!
Thank you Karen!
I fell in love with them too. Got them from Sunshine gathering at this amazing Jungle jims.
lol passed them up Twice and went back for them last minute!
Also this week, i know Im late again! But we planted seeds....tomatoe, corn, beans, peas, radish, lettuce, green peppers. Peas and have pumpkin somewhere and corn too!
But first had to dig this clean!
My project for today weed the big bed and wood stacking!
Also have been yancking poison ivy!! A stick and a pair of long nose pliers keeps me well away from the evil leaves!! For the big one, cutting all the leaves off directly into garbage. In early still cold I got rid of the big ones 3! Two big ones left!
Be careful of that poison ivy Judy!
Oh Judy you've done so much in the gardens, I absolutely love the miniatures. Made some hypertufa containers that are just sitting here, should look for mini's for them. What a great idea for tool stand, think I've lumber around here I could use to make one. In fact Jason when cleaning from washroom reno's put some in the fire pit, best I not burn. Lol
Bet you are loving sitting in the back yard. Isn't sherry a sweetie.
I'm almost sure Judy Jake would love to visit Canada..
Quite a morning, everyone wants me to rest, rest I must as head is pounding, even dozed off a few times
Linda called, Darlene called, will make a side trip when going to Barrie to see her mom, wants to bring me blood pressure monitor
Rita called, soups cooking, she will be over in a bit
June called, hubby suggested coming over to cut grass
I feel mothered and loved but heck how does one sleep
Darned ole poison ivy is a real bugger to get rid of. Do you have critters that get your garden? I noticed the tall fencing. We have a lot of deer here also the raccoons mess with the hummingbird feeders from time to time.
Oh Judy regardless how you think you are avoiding poisin ivy you will be sure to get it..think it gets airborn, at least it feels as though it does. Sailor early morning would take walks, I'd pet her and there I'd have it so she must have been walking through it.
Judy lives in a quite populated area but when we were leaving her house to go into Chicago there were two beautiful deer on the lawn down the street, I've photo's somewhere
Yikes, i know...last season when i discovered the fact they were poisonivy...
Moonbeam/Jean explained how to dress while working with the evil plant...
It was my thought to add the long nose pliers! They work really well for those little runners.
I am seriousl as a fire in the forest at pulling weeds one at a time, and now that i know what the plant looks like, and when this is all yanked everything is tossed in plastic including tools taped and trashed!! Oh betty, yep my neibor is highly allergic she stays well away. In fact she has given up planting...her dh does all that now and she just waters.
Thanks about tool stand. Imma just grinning away too. Yeppers go salvage the lumber!
Oh Karen! Do we ever have critters! We live by the woods. Got it all, raccoons, deer, skunk, and it they dont get at it the wicked alley cat makes a big mess too!
And yes Betty i Love, love sitting pondering on the deck! Roflol, sometimes ponder on what needs to be done too much! But i just love listening to nature. Petrie has been keeping me company nd chatters away with the birds. Yesterday, she told a cardinal, hey commere!
Laughing at the sitting and pondering too much then doing little..happens that way! Sometimes we spend more time a thinking than it takes to do
Well if that's all Petrie told them. Lol
Oooh lunch just drove in
Yep Betty is right, I used to laugh all the time saying who needs lawn ornements when you got the real deal. We once had an injured deer sitting in the shade behind compost bin. Wished i would have taken a camera, but decided to give it water...it got scared and jumped the fence!
My neighbor grows a couple apple trees and the deef always feed off them!
Alright Betty! Just be the queen bee until you see the Dr.
What a great use of that lamp shade Judy! Talk about being creative? Now the work begins in keeping it up.
Rita forgot something at her house so Darlene and she went to fetch it..Dar hasn't seen Rita's place yet so it will be nice for her to do so.
Dar brought me a rapid resizer 2 for use in stained glass. I can take a pattern, scan a photo and resize it, pick glass & color from its file and see how my stained glass piece will look.
Also 2 quilt books to look at..Fons & Porter quilts and love of quilting.
Girls say its cool even with the sun out
Good morning all, It's a one step forward and two back kind of day. I had lots of pain and didn't sleep well. Then Maria arrived and told me she and Tony had not gotten the papers for me to drive the car. And I need a different Mexican driver's license - mine is for a half ton vehicle and mine is 3/4's of a ton. Not the best news to wake up to after a fefw hours of sleep but the three of us talked and planned and Tony telephoned an attorney and all is going well for now.
Whether I will be able to leave for Ca. in time to see Amma in LA is still up in the air. I'm working on acceptance and surrrender.
Maria has been a huge help to me. Both with information and taking me places. Most important, lots of emotional support. She needs to get a birth certificate from Ca. I told her I have a mail service ther if she needs it. Or, if she needs to go in person, we can have a road trip. She was quite surprised and delighted. I assurred her that I do give back - sometimes!! It was funny, as I see a lot of myself in her - willing to help but not used to having it come back. One of the many nice changes in my life. And now in hers.
We will go back to Santa Rosalia for the improved driver's license tis afternoon and maybe have another roast chicken while overlooking the Sea of Cortez.
I'm tired but the pain is receeding and I'm so happy to have both Tony and Maria as helpers that I'm overwhelmed.
Big hugs to all, katie
