Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

oh, no, i am 16 min late. sorry, amanda. it's still dark here and i am the only one awake.,

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

I'm awake! Not unusual. Been going to bed early and getting up early. Not sure I'm keen on the last part, OR the first part, but interestingly enough, I tend NOT to wake up with bags under my eyes. All these years . . . who knew?!

hope all's well out there in la la land.

Now back to mine - and hope to find a cup of coffee in my path in the near future!!!

p.s. don't forget to change your preference on DG (because the site's too stupid to do it for you) from Eastern Standard Time to Eastern Daylight Time, or the time for whatever Zone you are in!

Just checking in. Anybdy else up?;

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

I am up but then I seem to be up at night and nap during the day.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I had a good workout at PT on my shoulder nd came home in pain so I took a pain pill and fell asleep for 3 hrs had dinner at 6pm & went to bed at 10pm. Now I am wide awake!! Everyone else is asleep. But CSI Miami is on, so I have something to watch.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Valetine's Day, and Happy Birthday to everyone I have missed during these past few months. I'm working more hours than ever, trying to get $$$ together to pay off debt so I can retire , and be the GRANDMA I always wanted to be but wasn't, this coming June.
Subzero weather, spiking up and down, Havn't spent much time doing anything but work, eat, eat, eat, and sleep.
I have gained 20 lbs., none of my work pants fit right, and my husband has been retired since October, I never got insurance, so I am trying to stay healthy for at least a year.
I hope all of you get some sleep. I'm taking two valarion root caps now, goodnight. ;)
( The trick is to set a goal for sleep time, and take the sleep root stuff 20 minutes before? )
The goodnews is, I am not going to work until 1pm for a change, and Joe has to get up and take outr 25 yr old to work at 7 am. HAHA.. I did that for 9 years, then went to work.. his turn now. She doesn't drive. It is called Fear Of Driving. rather Fear of dying. Can't wait until she can ride her dang 400 dolla peewee herman bike wherever she wants to go. Wish some guy would come thru her line at work and sweep her off her feet. I am ready for her to move out.. we never see her , and all she does is stay holed up in her, or rather my spare room. Joe has been cleaning cooking, ironing, handymanning and grocery shopping. So nice to sleep until 7:30 am now duting the week. Problem is, I have NO ALONE TIME unless everyone is already asleep. Joanna is an insomiac anyways, like me, Joe says up till midnight or even later now, and I am feeling so smothered sometimes, I can't wait to get to work. *sigh* I find myself hissing under my reath when I hear him say, Honey CSI starts in 5 minutes, right when I am starting a project. But no, I do not let him know I am tired of sitting with him at night watching tv.
Normally, I stay up and work down in the basement gardens at night. Not this year. Normally I never sit in my recliner. Now, I pass out as soon as he has fed me and wake up intime to watch one of "our" shows. I did laff tonight at the Conan Obrian show cuz it was a funny thing. I managed to pout up 50 cuttings I have rooted, this couple from Bartlesville , Oklahoma are driving up to get 50 mexcian petunia plants. Now to get rid of the next 50. Proud of myself that I actually can make things grow from cuttings, finally. Amanda, I hope you and Court are doing fantastic. Marti... (((( hugs)))) hi Sally, eweed, I have been sneaking out and throwing all kinds of seeds out before and after it snows. I have my winter sown jugs outside, and my waterbottle planters lined up on the windwo sill, and my seedling trays all going good downstairs. I like to experiment. I went thru my purchase of seeds for the past 5 years. I might see some penstamons this year from three years ago, I heard it takes that long for them sometimes. Curious to see of the triloba seeds, arum seeds, and snowberry seeds do anything.
I figure if tomatoes come back from seeds dropped the year before, I can throw them around too. I am maing seed balls tommorrow night instead of watching sports or blueblood. There. I'm done, I am twping funnie now.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Dear Debra, Good to hear from you! And that you are getting some seeds planted Don't know how I will get my garden done this yr.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Good morning and goodnight both. I took my sleepy stuff too. Debra so goo to SEE you. FYI, Court gets on my last nerve too. ;)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

well, here I am again, I did not make seed balls, but planted up the cannas, dahlias, sweet potatoe plants and gloriosa lillies , all were in the tuber tub. Also made bunch of cuttings from hibiscus and jessimine and syngonium. Felt pretty good gardening tonight. I made a big mess.
I am glad Joe doesn't care about spilt dirt and leaves everywhere... Part of the basement right now..

carrielamont,
I know how u feel. I have only my left hand to type with because of the surgery on my right shoulder. I will be happy in 6 weeks when I have use of my right arm again.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

I seem to have insomnia when it snows this year and that has been a lot this winter.

the plane thing is really strange, and we've also been trying to sort through news to get the few facts there are. DH has a private pilot license so we can see some of the mistakes in the news.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Looks like my sleep patterns are shifting. Falling asleep early now (when I'm working on my project) and waking up around 5 or 6. Good to see the morning sometimes. :)

We have another ice storm predicted for today. There was SO much damage from the last one many people and businesses were without power for almost a week!

I was not following the news about the plane until a couple of days ago when a news channel said the communication/radar gadgets were deliberately turned off before the plane reached the coast, and that military satellites were trying to track the plane. Terrorism?

If it was a jet full of people with gadgets, someone must have sent an email or text or something to somebody! What a shame. :/

Have a great day, all. Better get some coffee started!

A.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Oooops. Spoke tooo soon. Too many cups of coffee and here I am burning the midnight oil.

that's okay - been wanting to see this side of midnight for a while. heh - NOT.

My brain is so addled lately. Covered with a stack of papers and even sleeping with them under my pillow doesn't help. :D

Hope everyone else is doing well. Some of us have fallen off this thread. If I had your phone numbers I'd call and wake you up!

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Bad joke ; Things still grow for me , some I want some I don't ...
I'm always too weird ,,,

Amanda , it is difficult to talk about snow , first time in 2 or 3 decades I can actually say I have seen and had

Try to keep from being too rattled, only everything shaking around to fall back into place ,, hopefully ..

Saw the Surgeon yesterday for post op check up on my shoulder. He says he is pleases with my progress & healing well. I am still to continue passive PT and to come back to see him on April 15th. At that time, he says I should be ready to move up to active PT. I also saw my Primarycare MD yesterday and we changed some of my med dosages. I wil see her again on May 22. to see how I'm doing with the changes.
I am moving some of my plants out of the bathroom to the back patio to get them used to being outside so they can be planted.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Glad to read that you are healing well, marti. :)

I'm just poking around here, trying to decide whether i am awake or not. Will have to do some checking and get back to all of you.

Project is moving along. Feel like I've got to push thru my writer's block, so I will submerge again and check in again soon.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Amanda, thanks for the thought! I go to PT 3x a week and have a list of passive exercises I do at home. I have to remind myself not to over du as I am impatient to get gardening, but am under DR's orders not to use my right arm.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

marti, pt is a wnderful inventin, as you know.

I've been really sick. dctor called it something like "pernicius brnchitis." i've been up all night cughing for a week. last night i took some revolting cough suppressant which wrked, as well as being utterly disgusting. tomrrow is the last antibitic. plus i'm starting a med for high blood pressure. fun fun fun.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

3 am & I can't get to sleep. I have to drive to Lexington this morning. /we leave here at 6 am. My alarm will go off at 5am, so I think I'll lay down & see if I can;t at least get a nap.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

So Marti, were you sblev to get to sleep?
I
last week, I had really bad btonchitis, and slept horribly what with the wheezing and coughing etc. Finally one night I took a cough suppressant so I could sleep. Then there were a few days when I slept very well. Now I'm all caught up on sleep and I'm back to not sleeping.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

what a cruddy winter. four people called out sick today, DH and DS both got a nagging cough now.
carrie, that sounds pretty rough.
marti I have had nights like that- laying awake for hours and just when you think you might as well get up, you fall asleep for an hour.

I think I'm just awake because I worked 1 to 9 pm ad go back 9 am so kind of like my brain decids to just stay in work mode.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Well, I had a good night Monday until I was jerked outof a sound sleep with the feeling that I was falling. I hurt my right arm when I tried to grab on to something that wasn't there. I'm hurting still. PT says to only do my exerises once today and not push them. I have PT again on Thursday and hopefully by taking it easy for a couple of days my arm will be better. They think I just pulled the tendon. Whatever I did it has me worried and having trouble sleeping for fear of a repeat nightmare.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

My shoulder is doing better and hurting less. PT says to only do my at home exercises once a day between PT appointments.
Went out to dinner at the china buffet, came home and threw everything up. Dinner did not set well. I ate a little ice cream a little bit ago and it seems to be doing ok. I think I'll stay away from that buffet for awhile.
I don't have to go to the flea market for a couple of weeks, so I can try and sleep in, in the mornings. That is if I get to sleep. I'm wide awake and its 12:26 am.
We had a heck of a thunder storm Friday morning, it lasted about 1/2 hr and than cleared off and we got a little sun with some clouds. All my plants loved the rain, but I think I lost a couple of plants tothe cold weather and snow we had earlier in the yr. I'm not dumping them yet, just going to wait and hope that the roots survived and someof my mini roses will grow back. They are all in pots.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

That's pretty strange about the buffet. There are no foodborne illnesses that I know of that happen that fast.

Spring is coming slowly to this area. A week ago it rained all weekend topped off with dropping to 37 degrees Sunday afternoon and snowing. BRRRR.
So finally daffodils are starting to bloom, forsythia is just beginning to pop open, and things are finally emerging from the ground. I have to be careful in the garden because there are thing I have totally forgotten I had in there, and still hidden.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Here it is, 3:48 am and I've been up since about 1am. Can't sleep!! I have PT this afternoon and I've done my home exercises and am now bored. Maybe I should get my seeds out and start figuring what to put where. I bought 2 azallas(?) today for $2.99 ea. They need some TLC but one is white with a touch of pink and the other on is dark pink. I'm going to use them in my sisters memorial garden area. She loved them and they will go well with the Mock Orange I'm getting for her garden.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

The azaleas sound very pretty, and Mock orange is one of my favorites, had one growing up, and have a baby here that I grew from rooted stems from my home.

My baby just left to drive over to school (HS senior retreat) by himself and be gone for a week of senior trip with his class. I don't think I really slept before three AM when he needed to get up and get ready, and then after making sure he was up, and double checking a couple details, I have been messing around here. Listened to a couple music videos, the last one was Wide Awake by Katy Perry. LOL I'm ready to try bed now.

Rancho Santa Rita, TX(Zone 8a)

Just found yall- will be back during opening hours.

Hey Amanda, happy belated birthday !

I sent you a dmail yesterday ...

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Welcome aboard, BajaBlue. Well, I've had my 3 hours of sleep and am now up for awhile. I have PT this afternoon and will see the Ortho Md on Monday. Hopefully he will OK me for active ROM on my right shoulder and I can get on with my life and garden.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I am sitting up recovering from a cystoscopy on Monday , The thing is ,, no more pain meds post operative because of new DEA regulation ,, ouch ,,
If you find no tylenol , no advil , no alleve , no AVO , on your drugstore shelves , you know I have been there ..
When I was 9 yrs young ,, the process was steel tubing followed by aquarium tubing , then fluoroscope with dye , and pictures , with the device that is now used with and for ultra sound ..
Info over load you say ? Me too !!!
^_^ you all take care

Rancho Santa Rita, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi, I am so glad I found this litttle sitting room, its so much
better than CNN warmed0over non-news about the lost plane !

Have you ever noticed when you are tired how many more
typos are made ?

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Made a little 80 mile round trip to a Costco store and 6 Rhodies jumped on the flat cart I had. I paid 24.99 each and it was a very good deal. Good thing the flat cart wasn't any bigger because the plants almost filled my truck. The only reason they did fit was because half of them we tied up for shipping. My truck isn't big it's a ford ranger. Still I was the envy of quite a few people.

It was sunny and warm and a great day to drive and have a little ride. On the way home I came back along the bay on a winding road about 300 to 500 feet up. It was just the way it was almost 50 years ago when we raced those big wheeled boats we called cars lol.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

My niece, the one that lives next door to me and refuses to talk to me, has gone and done it again, cut her wrists from the wrist up to the elbow. This is the second time in 6 months she has done this. Maybe this time they will keep her for more than 3 days. Her 18 yr old son found her again, just like last time. At least the 13 yr old is visiting with his father this weekend and will not know about this until he gets home on Sunday. Than his brother can fill him in.
We will have a problem starting Monday. Uncle Ray needs to be watched and my nephew has to go to school. That leaves Uncle Ray alone in the house before the Active Day Care bus picks him up and than drops him off in the afternoon. If I'm going to be put in the position of watching him again, I will get paid for it. I'm not watching him for free.

Loudonville , OH(Zone 5b)

Ah ha.! I knew there must be a bunch of night owls somewhere on DG. I worked night shift for 40 years and retired in 2009 but my body still is on night shift about 4 nights a week. :-)
