Betty, You can check the USPS site for rates. I don't think it's illegal to send my meds; they are prescribed for me and I bring tehm accross the border whne I go to and from Ca. However, I don't inquire to closely. Packages get labeled innocuously; e.g. "collectibles" and come through fine. I think my niece is concerned paprtly because becauses she was born in Canada and partly because she's had government jobs and just doesn't want and possible problem. I finally got it and told her so and she thanked me and we're fine now - I think.

Debbie, sound like you are handling the "friend" situation well. A gradual retreat with a good explanation. And if you enjoy the work that's great.

My ankle is still a little sore and swollen but almost all better. I have gone back to babying it after my very emotional reaction to neighbor Tom's usual lack of consideration on Saturday.

Oh, I almost forgot I was going to share my "six month" rule for looking at a problem like Debbies. If something is going on that I know is bothering me but I don't want to deal with it or don't know how, I prettend it's six months from now. Then I say to myself, OK, looking back - what should you have done six months ago? From that perspective it's often quite clear. Not comfortable, necessarily, but it can short circuit drawing out a problem that needs to be addressed.

Katie, it is illegal for anyone to mail prescription drugs. A pharmacy can mail them, but not a private individual.

Mailing meds, I have a story, not a GOOD one either :-(
Gord went deer hunting in WI one November.
Calls me, he'd not brought enough of his diabetic meds (pills) .. I say, 'no prob' .. since you have 5 days worth, I'll express post you a weeks more'.
Now. instead of mailing the bottle, I TAPED the tabs to an 8x10 sheet of paper, put it in a bubble wrap envelope, paid $15.00 and off it went UPS.
Two days later I get a phonecall from a DEA officer in KENTUCKY !!! A very nice lady who wanted to know if I had sent anything to WI via UPS, I was frantic, explained I had, and, that it was metformin (diabetic meds) for my hubby, he had forgotten them ..
WELL .. she read me the riot act, nicely, told me the meds had been tested and found to be what I said they were, and, that they would be forwarded to WI .. seems the package got xrayed in the US and the bells and whistles all went off when a sheet of PILLS showed up!
Lesson learned.

Katie, don't know what your neighbour did, but feel bad it has upset you so.
LOVE your 6 month rule .. and, usually use it when I'm having to do something I don't want to do .. ie, go to the dentist or have surgery ..

Betty, Canada Post is surely not a cheap way to go! I try to use UPS whenever I can.
Lorna sends parcels off to her parents several times a year, and, we have never had a problem.

WELL .. I ORDERED a Mrs Claus outfit today .. I had had offers of 2, but, got to thinking , what if I rip it, spill something on it etc .. so .. I went to 'The Woman Within' , a site I order from for full figured wome, and, sure enough, there was a GORGEOUS Mrs Claus outfit .. pic attached.
So .. I am a happy camper!

Everyone - bless you all for being my dear dear dear friends. You're truly earthly angels and blessed by Him! I'm blessed by knowing you all, and wish you firm or gentle hugs (whichever you can take, cuz I'm a good hug-ger!!) and lots of prayers and hopes for the best!

Well, went on one interview today, and they found TWO jobs they wanted to interview me for lol
One (that I expected) was for an administrative/Executive assistant, and the other one was for Service Coordinator (within their computer tech support area). I believe the interview(s) went well :-) They'll let me know before Friday which position I'm being considered for. One starts on the 18th, and the other starts on the 25th.
Pray for me, my sisters........

I love, love, love Christmas Eve. It has always been a magical time for me. Santa Warren and I always had that night to ourselves. We made Clam Chowder with crab meat , boiled lobsters, stuffed our stockings and enjoyed a nice wine. Lots of good memories I will always treasure.

The drive into and out of Kingston was uneventful - woo hooo. Doc was able to fix 1 problem while I was there. My first appointment is Nov 26 for 3 hours. First of many but he feels he can fix up what ails me. I have 3 abscesses that need to be attended to as well as other work. Root canals again. My dental plan is going to be shaking their fingers at me again. You are right M about part of the dental work being covered because it is a health related problem. They are very sticky about what they will and will not cover.I actually was able to get t WM, Pet Smart and Food Basics before I went to the dentist so it was a productive day. I buy these huge rawhides for DIesel and they don't always have them at Pet Smart so I bought 6 when I found them today. One of the clerks asked me if I had a kennel. lol

Debbie it sounds like you have a plan and now if you can just keep to it. I understand about the creative part and letting yourself feel it. Stick to your guns girl we are behind you 110 %.

Katie you baby that ankle as much as you need to if not more. How is Max - still biting occasionally when surprised at night?

Anyone heard from Crissy? I still haven't heard back from her about the gift exchange.

Need to poke around the kitchen and find something for dinner.Since I grocery shopped today it shouldn't be too challenging although I would be up for pizza with M.

We just got wind and cold temps last night which I can handle just fine. Lots of black ice around early this am and apparently now on the roads.

So glad the day went as well as it did Dianne. You were able to get a lot done and then to have a "not as bad as I feared" drive and dental appointment was a bonus.

I haven't seen Crissy post in quite a while now. Last I heard she was looking at a house. and I never did hear if she got it.

Nothing earth shattering going on here. Supper (Pizza night) was nice last night .. just that the restaurant was noisy (muzak wise)

Have to do some furniture/plant re arranging in the living room to make room for the tree .. I did take a pic of it, but it looks horrid in the pic, looks like a 'Charlie Brown tree' LoL
Guess it's because the sun was on a portion of it and the camera caught the glare ..

About half an hour ago, the Blue Jays couldn't stand it anymore, and, 2 of them flew onto the table by the backdoor and knocked the container over and the peanuts spilled out .. they were everso happy with their booty LoL

Happy birthday 'Shannon' may today be filled with sunshine!

Just called my brother Mike to see what's going on..SIL Kim was with mom and Jim all day yesterday..was difficult understanding what mom was saying last night as I had to fill in many of the words as she couldn't remember what they were.

Jim has not been feeling well for several months

he has been dealing with diverticulitis for decades but has been in a tremendous amount of pain this past month..at Thanksgiving I could clearly see he wasnt himself..took it as he was embarrased by my mom's antics but likely just not well.

He had test done early October and then went for update, his Doctor who has to be 85 just isn't with it..told him nothing was wrong and gave him percocet for pain, Jim who never ever complains nor does he take meds actually took it, that is the major clue he is not well.

last 2 weeks he's been putting his head between his legs, tears in his eyes, head pounding beyond reason..finally yesterday and was heading to emerge when Kim called to see how everyone was doing..when she heard Jim was too sick to work and heading to the hospital she drove over and said he'd not go alone, mom had to be at the hospital for pre-op (operation Tuesday) so they all headed out

Jim saw a doctor who ordered an MRI..didn't see anything, Kim was there when Jim and Doctor were talking and she mentioned his last tests early October...Doctor looked them up, looked at them and asked had his doctor not start the process..found large mass on his pancreas and lung, also heart damage??? Jim said the doctor had told him all was well, just the diverticulitis acting up..

so Kim took him immediately to his Doctor, insisted on seeing him, showed paperwork they had from the hospital, doctor goes in his file and says he's never seen these reports..Jim said then what reports did you base my being 'ok' on??

So now many tests MRI/Catscan etc are being ordered ASAP

update on Addy/Alex

4 months old yesterday

Alex is doing great, loves to be cuddled..heart skipping beat, going next Tuesday to be sedated for an echogram then to cardiologist..Ann was so excited, she got to grandma sit for 3 hrs last week while Addy needed mom/dad

I asked how much of the 3 hrs. he spend in her arms...said all of it lol

Addy had her bowel reconnection, had major issues, was touch and go
had to have blood transfusions, bleeding internally

now back on oxygen
it was happy days that she pooped 3 little grains of waste, shows her bowel is working so far
they've started to feed her 1 tsp every 3 hrs in hopes the bowel contiues to function


she will send me photo's later today

Do hope another Dr. will be taking over Jim's case. I know it's hard to make a change but it seems necessary now.

YAY! So glad to hear little Alex is doing well, and Grandma got to have some time with the little guy.

Good news on Addy! Praying for more poopie!!

Joyce, Jim is my stepfather who should have his wings living with my mom. (sorry)
Mike my brother and his wife Kim live blocks away from them, Kim because she doesn't work is at mom's mercy. I also got the 'I need help'..explained how difficult it is when I work but would try to find time to call more often and drop in to help clean.

I'm so sad to read all this about Jim. I know this is late but maybe second opinions ought to be more prevalent. Maybe this could have been caught a lot sooner. He will be in my most urgent prayers.

I'm thrilled about Addy. In this case, poop is a wonderful thing!!! My prayers for this angel continue.

Today is DS birthday too!!! My son was born on Friday the 13th. How about you others/???

Betty .. my goodness .. what a situation for Jim to be in, I think now that he's out of the hands of his geriatric physician and into the care of someone who DOES care, things will move swiftly!

POO!! Gotta love the fact Addy has a functioning bowel, but, as for the reluctance to be touched, well, I guess it's only natural, perhaps things will turn around for her.

Made some PNut butter cookies, DH has been hinting for some for awhile.
Have a meat loaf (moose loaf) ready to go into the oven.

sounds delicious..I just went down to metro and bought cabbage rolls they just took ot of oven for tonight's supper..Rita went to the Seniors luncheon, she helps cook, am sure she's tasted their goodies and won't be hungry, if she's not then freezer they will go.

Shannon was born at 7:27 a.m. on a Thursday morning. I had to rush it because the girls left
for school at 7:40 and wanted to know if they had a brother or a sister. lol

Can't believe this little baby turned into a blonde!!! Such dark hair. Second picture is during chemotherapy and first day of kindergarden. And now.

Prayers for Jim & Addy....sigh.

OMG Debbie! She looks so much like you!!! There is no denying her that's for sure. I teared up when I saw her kindergarten picture. Norm and I saw so many little ones looking just like that. That is why I was making all those totes. It may be time to start again.....
