Morning,
REMEMBRANCE DAY..time for reflection and remembrance for all that our forces do to keep us safe, some losing what is most precious, their lives..
Omg, look at that turkey, I'm smilling from ear to ear! How those little ones have grown.
Must have been a special weekend for Todd having them there..yummy cake by the looks of it..decorated in ot rod theme, Todd did get spoilt. You will need a rest today..will they be back for thanksgiving?
Debbie, how are you feeling today? Maybe it should be a 'stay of your feet' knd of day. What did Paul think of all this. Know it's early but do you think we could meet up a week Saturday, think its the 23rd?
Well Mary, all I can say is the last days are the most overwhelming, deep. Take even a few seconds to sit and say our dream is coming through, nothing vpcan stop us now..it will all come together..
What excitement being accepted into the Disney Academy, I did think I heard a scream, must have been when you got the call.
Dreary day, bit of drizzle
Was up early, got all signs of woodworking cleaned up after I cut the leg dowels, need to stop at home depot on my way home to pick up thin wood for tie and signs, postage bags then the 7th dg snowman workshop will be behind me.
Not sure what I feel like dong today so have 2 or 3 projects to pick from
I so enjoyed Mel's visit last night, when she came in I said bet you think I've lost it having my Christmas decorations out already, she laughed and said I must be rubbing off on her as she did the same this weekend. As we went downstairs and she saw presents piled already wrapped she broke out laughing, yep I'm ahead of her.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends, new&old
Good WINDY morning from the north .. brrrrrrrrrrrr .. just 16F right now, but, the sun is out. Wind has blown all night.
Was a plane crash a few hundred miles west of here .. 5 people killed, small aircraft .. am hoping we don't know anyone on board, and feel awful for the families.
Smokey is still with us.. but .. definitely NOT himself, very sleepy .. breaks my heart.
Mary, best of all the Irish luck I can send your way !! Sounds as though everything is in place!
LindaK, awesome pics ^_^
Nice to have time with family.
Betty, I don't think I'd have answered the door LoL
Dianne, China Beach would have wakened me right up too .. hope Duke is doing better today.
Kinda busy here, must be on my way
Have an awesome week
Toodles
~M~
Betty, Paul said "you need to wean off and be done, no more of this". Has been hard on him too,
he really has pitched in to help me. Fixing meals when he gets home from work....or seeing me
totally wiped out and making me breakfast or tea or something. He also scolded about her problems and me having set back.
23rd works great!! I have Shannons birthday this week so is a bit busy and following week is Thanksgiving.
I am making a run for it, I need some me time and am going to do some errands (Book store) and
just get away before my phone rings.
Love the pictures. Sounds like a great weekend Linda!!!
"M" you are right...as is everyone else. You know, if those two kids (although 17 &19) weren't involved I could walk away....they work their fingers to the bone doing this also, along with college full time. Sigh.
OK, running away for a bit!!!
Have a good day
Andy will have thanksgiving with Heathers parents. They will be here for Christmas.
Love the turkey LK - great job and I'll bet she has the best dressed one!!!
Sorry about the plane crash "M". Hope it wasn't anyone you knew.
My best wishes and prayers are there Mary as you start this new adventure. I have every confidence that it will go well and you will be successful....
Betty - you must so tired. I can't believe you got all those snowmen cut out as well as the feet and dowels. You continually amaze me...
Too cute for "dressing" the turkey. She has a great eye for the right fabric. Looks like you all had a great time.
LindaKay, best time to be with kids is Christmas!
Guess you are all making Thanksgiving preparations, not so sure I'd like both major holidays within a month of each other.
Barb, wide awake..just printed off hockey photo's on printable fabric and staring my blocks..trying to be creative. It's either I'm wide awake or I'm keeping busy so I don't fall asleep .
drats, I will weigh a ton, that Suzanne said we had to have treats this a,m. I bought coffee and blt and didnt she bring me in candycane hot chocolate and a sweet than sweet treat..just asked me where want to go for lunch lol
Thinking of Bev, Shirley, Thea and Janice this morning..all have been on my mind
Off to do more figuring
Ok, which of you are sending me the weather..if going to have squalls make it good so I can stay home and play tomorrow
Snow squalls developing this evening.
An Arctic cold front currently over Georgian Bay will sweep through Southern Ontario today. In the wake of this front, northwesterly winds over the open waters of the Great Lakes will result in the development of snow squalls southeast of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. The squalls are forecast to develop early this evening and intensify overnight into Tuesday. The heaviest squalls could produce snowfall amounts of 10 cm or more by Tuesday morning and Environment Canada will probably issue snow squall warnings for many of the regions in the snow squall watch area. Current indications suggest that the Lake Huron snow squalls will begin developing in northwest flow and affect Huron County this evening. They will then shift southward overnight and become reoriented in a more north to south direction approximately over the Grand Bend to West Lorne corridor. This may result in snow squalls only temporarily moving through the City of London however visibilities could drop to near zero and travel conditions will be hazardous within the strongest squalls. Meanwhile, the Georgian Bay snow squalls are expected to set up this evening roughly between Collingwood and Midland and extend inland between Alliston and Barrie. The squalls could extend down through Newmarket and the snow squall watch has been extended. Motorists are urged to exercise caution as untreated roads become snow covered and slippery. Sudden reductions to visibility are also possible. These winter driving conditions are expected to last through Tuesday. Environment Canada meteorologists will continue to monitor this developing situation closely. Please monitor the latest forecasts and warnings from Environment Canada at www.weatheroffice.gc.ca.
That doesn't sound good!!!!
Be careful Betty.
If I get it then likely Dianne and Debbie will have the same.
"M" radio 1010 was raving about a school in Thunder Bay who had the youth take over a veterans grave, they were responsible for cleaning it, researching about the soldier and their families, where they fought etc.
Said it was such a worthwhile project!
Did you watch Ottawa memorial service this morning?
Paul just called, he's on the road and blizzard going on so homeward bound
Oh wow that blizzard better not come my way tomorrow. For the first time in months I was going to drive myself into Kingston for a consultation with my dentist. Need to find out if mortgaging the house is necessary to get this mess fixed up. I need major work done and am seriously thinking about having my top teeth pulled. I'll be tense enough about the visit without the added strain of worrying about the weather. That darn radiation for my pit tumour really did a number on the roots of my teeth - it just killed then right off.
No Betty I didn't watch the Ottawa service I went to our service here in the village at our cenotaph. It was very nice and the organizers also had a disabled vet speak. The PS was there in full force so it was good for them to see the ravages of war on a younger person. I think many of these young kids have no idea about WW1 and 2 , Korea or Vietnam. I was in university when the Nam war was at its height - I was surrounded by pacificists, draft dodgers and vets in my Poli Sci classes. Made for some very interesting and often heated discussions.
Love the turkey LK. Great idea for kids.
Debbie are you listening to us??????
Power on and off all day again. Never off long enough to start up the generator. I have taken down all the fire alarms so they wouldn't go off every time the power clicks off. Duke the poor little guy just starts racing through the house looking for a place to hide.
Drive safe Betty!
Dianne
Sure that storm does not develope.
Just be extra careful Dianne with no smoke alarms right now. I understand the need to disable but please be careful okay?????
WHOoooooooooooooooooooooooooosh >>>>>>> and off to Betty goes this persistent, bone chilling wind, but, SNOWLESS (for now)
Yes Betty, the school you heard about was well covered by our local media, I think there were approx 15 students, ages maybe 8-10, each chose a vetran, and, off the class went with toothbrushes and trowels to spruce up the grave site .. it was quite something, and, the children are so aware of what happened and the pain and suffering that occurred.
Dianne, (((hugs))) re the dentist .. I am NOT one who LIKES that appt. My dentist laughs about it, when I was in having my teeth cleaned, he popped his head in and said 'so, Marilynne, d;ya miss me" .. I replied, 'Iff having hip surgery is what it takes to AVOID you, so be it"! We both laughed, he hugged me and said "C U in December', brat LoL
I wish you all the best .. am wondering, since your dental probs are caused by radiation therapy, would OHIP not cover the pursuant dental work ? Just a thought.
Bought the pre lit tree today .. have it up and on in the kitchen right now until I clean the livingroom properly and find it a place, my, it looks beautiful .. couldn't get multi coloured lights, so, it's just plain white light .. will try for a pic ..just took one, haveta download it ..
Debbie, nice Paul spoke up and supported you , I hope you have a good YOU day :-)
OH .. smoke alarms and PETS, our Lilly goes just wild if the smoke alarm or carbon monoxide alarm goes off .. takes almost a day for her to get back to normal, she has to be held, it's really something !
Best get the spaghetti on the go.
Be safe in that wicked weather down southern ON way ..

Well, ya'll sent the weather this way. We have black ice warnings for tonight and tomorrow and
it is just starting to change from rain to a snow mix.
Went shopping for Shannons' birthday, but got ME some shirts and Izzy a new bone. lol
I avoided my phone all day, thankfully (whispering) it didn't go off for her!!!
Ya'll stay safe in this weather. Sure is cold!!
Debbie
"M" I prefer all white bulbs that way you can change color theme. You can be proud of the kids and the school for teaching them values..respect for our veterans! Wish more schools did the same
Dianne, here is hoping the storm stays in my neck of the woods, I want a Snowday besides I wouldn't want you to miss dentists appt.
About time adebbie you treated yourself
Took meds, bath, here typing and can barely keep my eyes open so best I rest them a bit
And then you sent the wind on to me!!! The temp dropped 9 degrees in the last hour!!!! It's not going to be a good day for Norm as some of his work is outside....
What do you hear about Addy and her operation? Did it help her? How is she doing? Please let Ann know our prayers continue.
Hoping to quilt a bit today...
Morning all,
No snow day for me, must be watchful of the freezing icy road conditions. Didn't mean to send bad weather Barb, hope Norm made it through his day without mishap.
Ann was away this weekend, usually she returns so she an be here with the girls on Tuesday so likely I will get an update and photo's
Was up moving snowman kits to another room so the girls if they come (might not like driving in this weather) need a place to work...now with all my housefly duties done I've an hour to sit and relax
Listening to Breakfast T.V. For news weather updates
And now it is snowing!! Not a lot - just flurries but I guess Autumn is done and Winter is knocking!!!
Hope you are having a day of rest Debbie.
Thinking of you Mary and hoping all the last minute things go smoothly.
How is Duke doing Dianne? Did this wind effect you?
Must remember to call for more 02 today. Got to keep the tanks full!!!
Morning everyone. Hope we get a good report about Addy as well.
Weather is turning here too. Supposed to be 39 tonight.
No snow here, sun again, BUT you do NOT want to know the temp.
Barb, don't let the O2 get too low .. especially in winter. The company that dies the 'home tanks' here is very good at arriving just before you need a refil ..
Happy Quilting!
Mary .. today is your NON inspection? The actual opening is the 15th? Good memory here, but, short !
Debbie, I hope you're feeling better .. hide the cell phone ..
Betty, Lorna's parents were expecting 10cm of snow overnight, not sure if they got it if you didn't. they call at 10 every morning, so, will find out then.
Black ice is far worse than snow !
Both Lorna and myself have blood work appts today at 1pm .. then tonight I am treating the whole family to a pizza night out .. one way to get to see them ALL at the same time!
Smokey is holding his own .. still sleepy but has moments of kittenish behaviour as well ..
Take care everyone

We got snowin' and blowin' last night but not as bad as it was supposed to be.
Hi I'm recovering from an emotionally rough few days. I'll spare you the details. It involves the neighbors. I really like Dana but havve had ongoing problems with her husband, Tom. Came to a head Saturday after Tony had left.
What I realized, painfully slowly, is that my desire to get along with them as blinded me to the stress it has put on my relationship with my niece. She lives in Oregon and has been sending me my meds but finally told me yesterday that this is very stressful for her and she can't continue. No big deal except we are very close and I'm embarrassed and annoyed with myself to have ignored her hints.
Debbie, are you listening? I can understand your desire to help the children of the woman you are helping but, as you have said, it is taking on toll on your other relationships, as well as yourself - both emotionally and physically.
Getting coffee. To be continued.
hugs, katie
Oh yes, I am listening.....really am. "The friend" text me last night, told her I was in bad shape.
Also told her, I could give her four hours a day Wednesday and Thursday....and no more. I was
really in pain. Considering I was there 12 or more hours daily....that is a big drop. SO, it is slow and steady in the right direction. From working 9:30 til 2:00 ish I will be home in time to fix dinner
and still get what I need done in the house, and Izzy won't be alone all day.
Will work on it from there as I really do enjoy this hand work....but not the other that goes with it.
Baby steps!!
Glad to hear you are doing this on YOUR terms now Debbie. I sure do understand the need to do it though. It is amazing how much hand work takes our minds off all kinds of things....
Barb, that is it, I felt I was using my mind in a good way and being creative. I don't have much artistic ambition any more and I was an art major. Just feels so good to do that.
Knowing you are happy makes me happy too!!!! LOL
19F here this morning..brrr cold, roads were great for travelling though.
Debbie/Debbie that's still more than you should be doing unless she has paid you for time you've already put in..lordy girl, wish it was this weekend I was coming to meet up with you...be prepared for as Judy would say, hands on hip and shaking my finger.
Barb, great suggestions that you have spare 02 tanks at home, never know when they can't deliver due to weather. Bought a new Christmas Quilt magazine, some easy projects..looking for christmas stocking patterns for Mel.
Katie, is it illegal to send regular meds from USA to Mexico?
LindaKay, that's cold for Texas..get your woolies out!
"M" Toronto did not get the storm but a lot of broken water mains..Alliston area got the most of the snow

what I'm trying to find out is from Buffalo (using your postal code Debbie as reference)
to California (being the furthest the parcel has to travel) and NOT doing it priority what approx is the cost..
it's 12.5" x 18" x 3" thick
on site but having difficulties getting the answers
NOT that it matters but just interested in know difference between $$ here and $$ US
think from experience I've even mailed Canadian parcels from USA and was a lot cheaper
If anyone is going to a post office shortly could you inquire..won't fit in a flat rate box
This message was edited Nov 12, 2013 9:01 AM
betty, the box I sent to you was almost 60 dollars
YOU should not have sent it then, normally Debbie accepts all my packages..
hmmm have to do something to make up for that!
Disgraceful what they charge..likely Canada's rules..just makes me boil!!!
There is a large flat rate box 23 11/16 x 11 3/4 for $14.85.
Betty, there is also a "book rate" that is cheaper to mail by also.
that would work..didn't see that one..snowman without his leg (lol) is 18"..just trying to remember how wide he is, for some reason think maybe slightly wider..anyway..going to go with my first thought, put him into the envelope and address and make a 2nd label..post office will let me know if it's better to send for each destination the box or the envelope..
will box up tonight
how would my package fit in???
Betty, Book rate is just a day or two longer to mail I think. Not postive...but your own box.
Just let me know if you need more for postage.
No postage is covered Karen, just trying to figure out best way to package that I'm not creating more of an expense..but all ok $$$ wise.
If I look back same time last year I did exactly the same with the project trying to find best way and it turned out great.
snowing lightly
