Hi Linda kay,thanks!!!Me too!!!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends, new&old
Betty, when you see your physician I would ask him for 1) Flexeril which would help the spasms in your neck/shoulders 2) Celebrex to help with arthritic pain. I take Celebrex twice a day, tried to stop it once, and, I regretted it .. it's a wonderful drug.
As well, he may refer you to have physiotherapy .. I think you would benefit so much from the hot packs they use for the shoulders ..
Sure hope you're feeling a bit better .. have a colleague who swears by ROBAXACET, it's over the counter.
Ended up making a mac and cheese casserole and some date squares .. then had to lay me down for half an hour ..
Have class tonight, so, resting wasn't a bad thing.
While I was semi asleep the phone rang and I could hear Lorna talking with someone .. her old job was calling to see if she 'could' come back in the spring !!! Lorna was the head gardener at a large cemetery, won them 2 awards for her floral displays .. she has said yes, but, to make it kosher, she has to submit a resume .. it has been 4 years since she worked there, that's when she had the blood clot that caused the loss of her left leg. I don't have her resume anymore (on the computer) so, now it's time to start 'THE SEARCH' LoL
Take care
Toodles
~M~
Lorna "M" must be on top of the world getting a call to return..maybe some part time work to start.
Why does she need her resume??
Will mark down those drugs.
Kyle dropped in so I asked if he'd take me to look for two rain coats for Caleb/Braedon, MED had exactly what I wanted
http://www.mec.ca/product/5019-392/mec-truant-jacket-mens/
but not their size
so off to Molson's Park, stopped grid of traffic, worse area for traffic, barely moved
get to Sojourn, jackets are between $400-$800, not going to happen, I need 2 and the way boys are growing they'd be out of it by summer.
Not good going shopping for christmas gifts when not well, I was rude and obnoxious, think even Kyle flinched lol
guess I look like death warmed over, went in and asked the two young men where I'd find the rain jackets, looked at me and said, sales are in the back of the store..I said 'did I ask you for sale items, do you not think I can afford those in the store?' now that is just not me
You must be in a lot of pain Betty. Hope your pain lets up soon!
Morning all
Ground is covered in white this morning..everything looks so crisp and clean, really pretty especially seeing there is no need for me to go outside today.
This weekend will be a rather quiet weekend, all about organizing myself for projects that need doing
What will you all get up to this weekend
Andy and family will be here for an early birthday for Todd.
How wonderful LindaKay..when is Todd's birthday?
Do you do anything as a tradition?
looked for something to do that won't take up too much energy or use of muscles...am wrapping Christmas gifts with Christmas carols playing..wonder if it's the
no boxes at foodland, little variety store had 2 that would fit quilts so must be on the lookout for boxes
made a trip to back shed to put Halloween away, while at it, brought in a few pieces..now that Ms. Noseworthy is no longer hanging on the front door thought I'd hang the Christmas piece
Mornin ^_^
NO snow here, just sun, sun and more sun and COLD temps .. lots of warnings re BLACK ICE, there was a 14 rig pile up west of here yesterday due to the ice.
At least we aren't in the Phillipines !! My T&Ps sure go out to those folks riding out the SUPER Typhoon .. can't imagine 245mph winds !!
The raincoats are nice Betty, too bad about the griclock though .. I think had I have been in your seat, and my hip was pitchin a fit, I would have been a titch nasty as well ..
Today you can relax a bit.
No idea what is on the agenda for today .. DH is out of the house for the day teaching and then shooting, so, maybe a chance to clean up some of his clutter and put it where it belongs LoL
Re Lorna needing to submit her resume. I think it's just to keep everything 'kosher', they need to have it on file I guess. Can't find the one from 7 years ago, so, we'll be doing up a new one .. I did find a site that creates a template for you, but, I have this sneaking suspicion that I'm going to gte 3/4 done, and, they're going to ask for money before letting me have the finished product ..
Linda, have a nice weekend with family ..
Mary, your BIG DAY is on the horizon ^_^, are ya nervous ?
ME .. well .. I MAY go to the market tomorrow, early around 8am .. if it has snowed I may not, would be going with DH .. I plan to play the weekend by ear ...
Have a fabulous Friday everyone
Toodles

Todd's Birthday is the 13th! He will be 57. He is 17 months younger than me, and he is always reminding me I am the old lady of the house!
too funny, Roger was 5 years older so always got he robbed the cradle..not so much as we aged but when I was 17 and he 22
"M" don't you be cleaning too many corners, corners I guess ok but do not be moving things or you'll be paining as well.
bet "Mary" has butterflies in her tummy..am sure with how she and Lance are so personable this new adventure will be a total success.
Darlene just e-mailed wanting info on my Christmas plans..yikes, not sure yet!
Making a list of what I have to purchase this afternoon when I head out to town..wood for the snowman workshop is in, would so like to get everything I need and get kits done on Sunday then that's another thing out of the road.
drats, ran out of boxes..
while I work somebody is sleeping, enjoying the comforts of Julie's quilt..
UGggggggggggg ... Am thinking Smokey may be heading slowly towards the Rainbow Bridge ..
He's 19 and, has been acting a bit strangely the last few days .. today, he's just not 'with it' .. he's in no pain, laying in the sun .. while I run around crying .. Lorna is just not believing it. Not sure if I should call Gord .. I best do though as Smokey is his BOY ..
Will see how the day plays out ..
Feel crummy ....
~M~
ahhh, sorry to hear about Smokey "M"
not easy watching a beloved furry losing ground.
think you should call Gord and let him decide what he should do vs you keeping the info from him.
sending hugs
need to wash the bedding so thought why not while I'm at it put xmas quilt on, Riley is having none of it..just growls as soon as I come near the bed..guess she's annoyed I want her to go find other place to sleep
Sorry to hear about smokey. Sending big (((((((((HUGS)))))))) your way.
Thanks everyone .. going to be a sad weekend i know that.
Gord has said he will take Smokey to the vet to be euthanized if need be, he's very upset by it all as Smokey has always been 'his buddy'.
Right now Smokey is hiding from us, no way either Lorna or I can get under the bed he has chosen, suffice to say he is sleeping, not crying .. which is a blessing.
Both dogs are a bit frantic because they KNOW something is wrong because Mommy is in tears .. sheesh .. love animals, but HATE this part ...
M
(((M))) difficult time I know. Holding you all close to my heart.
"M" hard to make that call..
my kitties mourned 'Sailor' as much as I..you could see they were in search of Sailor for months, not quite sure what to make of it!
Am sure Gord will do what has to be done when the time is right!
Dianne, did you get snow?
Santa Warren would be proud of me, have my box to post for the Christmas exchange.
So sorry, Marilyn....it's so tough to lose one of our furry friends. 19 is a wonderful long life for a cat though. Must have been very happy with you and Gord.
Love the picture of Missy in the craft room. I just love your craft room, it's so warm and cozy and full of wonderful things!
Don't like hearing and seeing the four letter "s" word. That can stay out of sight until Christmas eve! :o)
Need to go take a picture of my porch pot I made at garden club on Tuesday. It was fun, fun, fun!
Back in a bit!
Joyce, hurry hurry, get the camera..I post a lot of photo's and I so look forward to the photo's I see on the thread..could it be something I can do
off to town..need the wood so I can trace tonight
I'm so sorry to hear about your dear Smokey "M". It is so hard.
Just in from the vet's several dollars poorer but an answer to why Duke is continuing to whiz in the house. He is just too darned smart to be still doing this. Turns out he still has only worse a bladder infection and also blood in his urine. Poor little guy!
My heart just ached when I was in the vet''s office and immediately thought of you and Gord M. A lady had her cat go over the bridge just before Duke and I arrived. Oh my she was inconsolable and I know exactly how she was feeling as do most of us here.
You're right Betty, Santa Warren would be very impressed that you have your parcel ready.
Calling for some freezing rain in the early am tomorrow. I had wanted to go into Kingston but wait until I go to see the dentist on Tues..Just going for a consult as I need a lot of work done.
Barb what are you and Norm up to this weekend? We all know what Mary and her hubs will be doing.
Hope you have a great birthday celebration for Todd LK.
Dianne
Hugs to Y'All
Enjoying visit with family.
I second 'poor Duke'! He probably feels terrible you cleaning up after I'm, truly feel furries know.lets hope this round of meds does the trick. Guess you will know if he continues to wet in the house..am sure it's painful beyond belief for him. Poor lady, think we all kow how she is feeling..overwhelming for sure.
Haven't heard about freezing rain in my neck of the woods but they do say snow. Took my shovel out this morning and my car scrapper so I'm ready. Snow tires don't get put on til next Friday so hope it waits till then.
Can't believe how my perm did not last this time..drats, made an appointment for Tuesday night..
Debbie you must be helping out at the show, anxious to hear how it goes. Checked your coat pockets, no keys!
Thunder, your mom is a sly one, kept all this a secret..so glad you are enjoying your time..soon to be over though right? Hope you took pictures.
Had a full day, got all my wood, thought I'd sit and trace but you know, tomorrow is another day

Norm and I have no special plans for this weekend. Just bumming around I guess along with the grocery shopping and laundry. Norm has been working 13-14 hour days this week and is just tired out. He had to do a bit of work for a guy out on vacation as well as his own. So I'll take really easy on him.....LOL Maybe I'll just sew so he can sleep!!
Dianne, I'm so glad you found out what the problem is with Duke. Poor baby. Maybe now he can start to get better. I laughed out loud at him turning the lights on and off opening doors. They are soooo very smart.
Off to find some coffee. I have a need for it this morning.....
Morning all,
Wish you were here Barb, we could have sent Norm out for timmies and apple fritter then send him off to bed while you and I do crafts and sew. Those are long hours to put in, it's no wonder he's tired, but makes for a long week for you!
"M" how is Smokey this morning?
Had a lovely call from Judy last night..understaffed and working long hours, gets home exhausted..says to give her hello's and says she misses you all..when life slows down she'll drop in for a visit.
One of those days you want to be inside, drab/cold and looks like snow.
Just making a coffee then downstairs to cut the Christmas project..here is hoping what I did to the gabric works for ties, keeping my fingers crossed.
Don't over do it and get those shoulders hurting.
Morning all ^_^
Dianne, so hoping this round of meds will help Duke's bladder infection .. poor fella.
FEEL for that lady you saw at the vets .. I was up and down several times last night checking on our Smokey, he was sleeping quietly on a bench under the window, he won't go near the woodstove anymore .. his ears are cool so he hasn't a temp, he ate some food this morning but is now sleeping again .. Murray and the kids are going to come out this weekend to say their goodbyes .. I think (I know) I'll lose it as DGD is a real softie re Smokey, has carried him around since she was 2 years old and, he let her!
No one wants to go anywhere and leave him alone in the house, so, it's a stay at home weekend .. who knows, he may rally, but, I doubt it. Hate this end of life feeling ..
Betty, Timmies sounds good, but, I love their bagels, a multi grain with lite cream cheese would be delish right now ..
RAINING here .. with blobby snow on the ground, Murray is driving a big honkin fuel truck around the city today at his second job, and that's just adding to my stress .. he's a great driver, but, the conditions are not good for driving.
Sending everyone HUGE hugs, and, LOTS of thank yous for your kind thoughts re Smokey.
Toodles
~M~
"M" they sure do become our family..glad the family will drop in to visit with Smokey, am sure he feels loved!
Just starting to lightly snow and wind is up..at some point I have to go to Walmart but even if I don't it will not be the end of the world..just yellow thread needed to finish a quilt. If I do go I'll pick up a timmies for us ok?
I can well understand how you feel Gord driving the rig in bad weather..Roger drove a car carrier for most of our married life , remember calling him continuously to see if he was ok.he'd say 'they will call you if I'm not ok..
Think break time is over..coffee taste good but not as good as a timmies would be
Need to go back into Christmas bins to find the snowman I'm cutting, maybe a few things will come inside..keep thinking too early then not too early..what to do?
I want a timmies too Betty!! Love their coffee.....
How is Duke this morning Dianne? You said Diesel was also out of sorts, was it because he knew Duke was unwell?
just had 2 cups but NOT timmies..
so far 3 Christmas totes inside from the back shed but no snowman..think he's hiding in the last one.
Lisa DIL called, gabbed about the hockey quilts made with jersey's..she's a bit nervous..heck they are just shirts, final project is whatever I'm able to accomplish..she's off to look for more
hockey photo's
last tote was the angel I put on the fireplace, then remembered I had bought in Meaford those mini/mini lights that glow off to nothing so set that down..of course needed pine/greenery to hide them so off with cutters..my poor trees, I'm sure one of these days there will be no branches (big grin)
keep looking at the clock, not sure if I think I'm doing good with cutting/decorating/cleaning or if I think I'm slowing down..have to time myself..lol
because I'm always go/go/go at this time of year and think I p(&s some off with all my talk of Christmas I did a thread that I chat, mostly to myself but if anyone wants to gab with me I enjoy them stopping by

I think this is the link you meant to post, Betty.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1340700/
Thank you Jean..nice seeing you post..how is your day going?
Most welcome, Betty. Fairly well, thanks. Still fighting a URI, and tend to lose my voice occasionally, much to DH's delight....(LOL) but working my way back to healthy...
Just wanted to say Hello and send good thoughts and big grins to you all. I saw this funny fellow the other day....thought you all might have a chuckle...he looks like he is meditating.
Thanks Jean. I am so happy to see you popping in. I went and snooped thru Gen Disc Forum and found Betty's thread. I have enough trouble editing my own posts let alone helping Betty out Hope this finds you stronger as each day passes.
Thanks for asking about my little Duke Betty. Too early to tell so I am still letting him outside every hour and even that is not enough. Good thing I am not a good sleeper or I would have a flood on the main floor. All of his water intake is controlled - I hate to imagine what it would be like if I let him drink as much as he wanted. My vet is trying to soften me up to adopt a rescue Great Dane she has living at the clinic. Nellie is absolutely stunning but like Duke was abused badly - she just shakes when a male tries to pet or even talk to her. Told Heather I have my hands full right now - it is like 2 teenage boys roaming the halls at HS here . Lots of energy and play fighting. Barb, Duke is a very clever little guy and keeps me laughing every day with his antics. I have to tie up the closet door where I keep his kibble or he is right into it. He got the string untied once so I have shored up the string with a double knot and added bells so I can hear when he tried to get into the closet.
Oh Mary those butterflies must be starting to kick up big time now. All the staff in place now? Saw your post on FB - surely there are lots of people looking for PT work.
Norm must be exhausted Barb. That's a lot of hours to put in. Great plan to sew and let him sleep or will he be so excited to be home he can't sleep?
M thinking of you and Gord today. Hoping Smokey is having a pain free day.. So hard to say goodbye to our beloved furries.. Holding you all close to my heart.
Dull and very gray here. Freezing rain hasn't developed (Hurrah!) but it is starting to spit snow. Moved a fair bit of wood inside the house (enough for the weekend) so I will be ready for the inclement weather that is supposed to hit.
Katie, how are you doing? Do you have new wheels?
Have come to the conclusion that all of the tick bites I have gotten are from the wood. Took a shower after I brought in my wood and sure enough there was a new tick trying to burrow into my skin. I am beginning to think I need to use the flea and tick control meds that the pups get. Just read in the paper the docs in the area would like you to bring in the tick you take off of yourself and they will check it for Lyme's disease.
Think I will curl up with the pups and watch White House Down. Sounds like a great lazy day thing to do.
Debbie do you have today off? You must be beat! How is Izzy - clinging to you like saran?
Dianne
We xed Jean. So glad to read things are improving for you. Listening to Duke Robillard today... do you like his music? Sending you huge hugs from Club D.
Jean, nice to see you posting and do so hope your URI resolves ..
Dianne .. thanks for thinking of us and Smokey, he is UP and DOWN today, so wants to go out, but, we're reluctant to do that as if he wandered off I am sure he'd be wolf bait ..
Hope Duke gets better soon and I feel you made the right decision re not taking Nellie ..
Betty, how is the hockey quilt going ?
You have me all a flutter over 'Christmatizing' the house. BOTH of our fiber optic trees went on the fritz last Xmas, so, I ordered a new one onlie, got it, but, not pleased with it, it'd look ok as an accessorie somewhere, so, am thinking about getting a small PRE LIT tree .. anyone have one ?
Rented some movies (Not WHite House Down as it was gone) but some other good ones, going to hunker down and watch one as it's starting to BLOB out right now .. thick snow/rain ..
Adios
~M~
Hi - still here
Hi Susan good to see you popping in. Weather Liars have said you are getting dreadful weather. Are they living up to their name?
Had liver and onions for dinner tonight. Think the pups thought I was cooking it for them.Cooked enough that I have some for another meal. Barb it is you and Norm who like liver and onions isn't it? I know we had this discussion here on this forum before but I can't remember who did/didn't like liver. Marion I seem to remember you liked liver too or maybe it was you didn't like it... lol my memory is shot.
Still haven't watched White House Down found something else I needed to do so maybe I will do that tonight. What DVDs did you rent M? I am thinking about buying the complete series of Cheers - Amazon has it for sale. It will give me something to watch when I get bored during this long winter. Not that many interesting shows on TV at 3 am.
Thunder I was glad to see you pop in too. So happy you are having a great visit with your family. When do you go home?
It's raining so I don't think I will be able to coax Duke out of the carport. Going to go and give it a try.
Sweet dreams everyone in case I don't get back.
Dianne
yeah, lousy weather... ah well, it's the beginning of winter, right?
Tonight, the wind is cutting right through coats... brrrrrrr
Went out tonight for haircuts, Bob & I
I got an email Friday night (came in earlier, but it's my job search email, and I hadn't checked it after lunchtime... didn't expect anything), and it was asking me to come in for an interview!! Tues at 11am. For an administrative assistant position. I'll need to call the gov't agency Monday to find out what it's about, because the agency sent in my resume lol I fwd'd the email to the agency, so hopefully they can fill me in on the details. It wasn't my case worker - it was a colleague of hers that sent it in. So, it's a job, right?
Good luck Susan.
