LindaKay, beautiful, I remember when you did the raised beds, have they been successful?

Debbie great that you didn't need major work, cleaning is bad enough..

wow, talk about a drop in temps, need to find my snowmobile jacket..same in your area?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Must have been dental day .. Lorna's teeth are all sparkly and clean now, but MAN o MAN, the wind here would cutcha in HALF!!
Walking into the grocery store took my breath away !
Went to Home Depot, got the plexiglass sheets, screws and a knife to cut the sheets, the store won't cut'em, too much liability ?

Love the Petunia bush, speaking of Mexico, still no word on Katie from anyone ?

Best get things ready for supper for DH and Lorna, I'll have a sammie when I get home .. if I even want anything, may just want wine LoL. Haven't been in the University for about 5 years, new building too.

Ciao (toodles too)

Wind is picking up here...temps dropping and they said the "S" word

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Nice and warm here today. 78 this afternoon. Betty I have bougainvilla and the Mexican petunias in the raised beds. The bougainvilla are slow growing but the petunias are doing well. I also had sun flowers in it this eummer. They did very well.

Verona, ON

Missing Katie too. I hope she is OK.

Well you all would have laughed yourself silly yesterday watching Steve and I trying to exit the parking garage at the hospital. There are no attendants now so everything is by machine. So I sallied forth to 1 of the machines and paid the ticket. I took the receipt the machine spit out and went merrily on my way. Once we got to the gate the machine there would not accept the paid stub. Steve pushed the help button. We are waiting and waiting the line of cars behind us is long and getting longer. No Help answered so I told Steve I would go to the entrance and get another ticket and pay that so we could get out of there. No could do as the lot was full. Swallowed my pride and asked someone what to do. She told me to do exactly what we had done. Now I trot back to the exit and they are not close. Still no help from the machine. Once I climb in the truck the Voice Assistance clicks in .......... she informed us there should have been 2 slips of paper spit out of the machine once I paid it. When I told her there was only 1 slip of paper she informed me the machine did not make mistakes. Ya right. So in order to get out of this mess I have to pay a $15.00 fee on a CC no less. That fee will be refunded on my CC within 24 hr. So I get out and go to the machine, pay the fee and the gate goes up. Steve is yelling at me "run Dianne run" so we could get out before the automatic gate comes back down. This short chubby girl ran like the wind and out we went. So they we were. Steve and I showing the big city of Kingston what hicks we really are.. Can ya tell I don't get out much?

M I can so identify with your water problem the other day.Happens here on occasion. One time DH left me to go do a show in Ottawa. It was in April and we had had a lot of snow that year but the ground was still frozen. About an hour after my guy left I thought I should check the basement. This was when we were in the old farm house and basement was dirt cut around huge rocks. To my horror the water was up to the third step and rising. DH had disengaged the sump pump so I was bailing with 10 gal pails up the stairs. The water was winning. After almost 48 hours of bailing I was dead tired and not winning. I was so tired and exasperated I stood in the thigh deep frigid water and rewired the sump pump. At that point I was so tired I really didn't care if I got electrocuted.

Looked like you and DH had a good time Mary. Glad you got to get away together before your opening .... cause you know it will be awhile before you can do it again.

Love the Mexican Petunias Thunder and LK. They are beautiful.

Enjoy your class tonight M.When I was in university I often took night classes so I would have the experience of having mature students rather than those my age. These people all worked and just added a wonderful spin on the classes. They were there to learn not party.

Broke my baby toe on Fri... well actually Diesel broke it. A few blue words certainly passed through my lips. I haven't been staying off of it so it has been quite sore and swollen. Today I couldn't even get my wellie on that foot it was so swollen so decided I had better keep off of it for a few hours.

Susan sending positive thoughts your way.

How was your drive into Rochester Debbie? Very strong winds here today. Duke is spooked as the wind is whipping across the lake and hitting the house on the west side. There have been quite a few howls from the wind so the poor little guy is unhinged. He did make some progress this am when the cleaning lady was here. I usually put him in the truck as he just freaks and runs through the house peeing or tries to hide under the French buffet. This morning he sat on my lap downstairs while Dawn cleaned and vacuumed upstairs. That's a big step for the little guy.

Is it Friday you leave Betty> Any news from Ann about the wee ones?

I need a nap but will try and keep myself awake so I can fall asleep this evening. I swear I am coming back as a sleeper in my other life.
Dianne

Lyndonville, NY

Dianne, do you think one of those thunder shirts would help Duke? Sandy uses them for Andre' during storms and they helped.

The wind is just picking up here, and they are talking a few inches of snow for Thursday.

The drive to Rochester was dark....and watched a bit of the sunrise. The ride home I was wanting a nap....but still haven't had it.

News here is Jeanna didn't like the new job. Went to two days, it was not what they said it would be....and she would be working in call center. They certainly didn't tell her the truth as to position. Well, she went in this morning and told them "no thank you!" She specifically took the job to be home with Joe more.....but....she would have M & T off....not weekend. Which is only time Joe is home!!! AND hours would be 11 to 7:30....not 6 to 2:00 like she was told.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I sewed allllll day. Still not quite finished with bird houses. Trying like crazy to get them done.
Hubs is doing some nifty stuff with his dying. Two pictures of shirts he is working on for the boys. One is a design from a game Waylon likes. Other is Seminoles for Levi. Undecided what he will do for Kyle.

Sorry about your toe Dianne, they sure do hurt like the dickens when you break one! Keep it elevated!
Thunder love hubbies tie dyes! very nice!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Those are both very neat Thunder. How unique for the boys.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

I have the dwarf mexican petunias and pull them up like weeds.... they spread like crazy.... but great for ground cover....

Dianne.... Yes that was Hubby's selling point.. that it would be our last chance to see her dance on the pom line because she won't try out next year because it takes up too much time.

We are in crazy mode. no clue if we will make our deadline....

Dianne... hate that you broke your toe... I know there is nothing you can do for it.....hope it heals soon laughing at your antics at the parking garage but grrr how irritating to have to put a hold on CC money...

HUG Diesel for me.... and Duke :)

hard to slow down these days

Mary

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm so sorry about your toe Dianne. And I'm assuming both D & D step on your feet right???? Sit and elevate dear friend.

Thunder those tees are fantastic. Hubby sure is doing right about this dying. The boys will be thrilled. You must show us what he does for Kyle.....

Hope to play in the sewing room today. Not too sure what I'm be working on but I know I can find something!!!!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

(((Dianne))) Don't those things hurt like the devil and there's nothing to be done for it!

Gas was $3.24 here yesterday. Send some cheap gas up here, Linda Kay.

I've been in the garden trying to clean up and the pond, too. Geesh. So much work!! It's gotten really cold the last two nights. They said we might have flurries today. Too early... Yuk. I still have two elephant ears to dig up. Don't want to be doing that in this weather, but it must be done!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Dianne, you might want to tape the baby toe to the next one to keep it stabilized .. ice helps.
Your parking lot jaunt is comical, and, not unheard of here in TBay. We have those 'mechanical marvels' that take your money and NEVER make a mistake LoL
In fact, one of the little buggers pulled my side mirror off !!! My BFF and myself were going out of the hosp parking lot, Jo said 'make sure your close enough to shove the ticket in stripes up', well, I sure was .. what a noise, and, all the 2 of us could do was laugh, no, HOOT .. I kept thinking about the security guards watching us on the remote camera .. anyway, I limped home with my ELECTRIC mirror hanging down by wires, cost ,e $360. to have it repaired!

Debbie, sorry to hear about Jeanna's job. The company surely was not upfront with her.

Thunder, the tie dyes are beautiful ^_^

First class last night was a real mind blower .. I was the only RN there, the rest of the class was made up of Soc Workers, physios .. so I got asked a lot about my experiences . Odd feeling, I felt I was giving the class at one point .. sheesh .. I'll give it one more go Thursday evening and I may call it good ..

Read on another thread that ALEX is now HOME .. YAY

Morning all,

guess who saw snow falling this a.m. yep won't stay but first sighting of white on the ground!

OMG Dianne, laughing (sorry) what a comedy scene, bet you are laughing now but wasn't funny as it was happening. What happens to poor people who do not have the extra $$ to pay.
OUCH on the toe..will Diesel and Duke be out of the corner to help pick our names for the Santa Warren exchange?

Debbie sorry to hear about Jeanna's job..are there many jobs out there in her line of work? Another worry for you.

Mary, think positive, you will be on schedule..soon you'll be open and won't remember being so overwhelmed with it all.

Thunder, hubby is getting quite artistic with his shirts..boys will be thrilled to get them..hmmm I love the one on the left.

Joyce, was thinking of driving south for 2 weeks at Christmas and now you tell me how much the gas is..yikes, might have to rethink!

Barb, what are you hoping to sew today?

"M" they know someone who can motivate and has knowledge to impart..learning process for all I'm sure. You got through last week, am sure next will be easier

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I am not worried about Jeanna. Her husband has good job, and when she left her other job, they told her she would be welcomed back if it didn't work. SO.....she has that security if she wants it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Gas went down here, it was $2.90 this morning!

May I introduce you to our new dog Blackie. He has been coming to our place for a few months but he is ours now. Luna loves the new playmate. He likes to eat his food outside! He is a black lab, and we think maybe a year or so old!

Thumbnail by taters55
Victoria Harbour, ON

ohhh LindaKay you went and did a Dianne..two pups now
how exciting for you..did he come from a pound or was he a stray?

Wonder if having 2 dogs is easier, playmates for each other
not the case with Missy and Riley, they do NOT like each other

You both make me want to go out and get another collie

Speaking of dogs, Sharon's dog due date for delivering 5 pups is today, she'll be a busy lady looking after them all

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

He was a stray dog. He has been walking the neighborhood for months, and every time he came by we would feed him. He was so skinny. We finally got close enough to put a flea collar on him. Now we need to tame him enough to get him into the truck to get him fixed!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm sure by now he knows he can be safe with you..won't be long he'll be eating out of your hand.
wonderful that you took him in..hope to think for some reason owners had to leave him and not just abandoned.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Our neighborhood is full of stray cats and dogs. Lots of little chihuahuas running around! Everyone gets a cat or dog, does not have it fixed, and lets it run wild, then they all mate and have more and no one cares! They don't keep them in their yard, or feed them properly, they don't take them in for the proper shots to keep them healthy! It just makes me mad they don't care! Because we live 5 blocks out of the city, there is no animal control that will come out and pick them up!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Really sad LindaKay

Thought you lived in a remote area, not sure why..more in the country!
Well Blackie is one lucky pup

Finally the mall put the heat on..lordy, couldn't feel my fingers for a bit, guess they wait for first signs of snow.

Yesterday I called to make appt when I get back for snowtires to be put on, none too soon.

Decided instead of getting trip travel insurance I'd get it for the entire year, got that done.
Darlene just called and asked if I could have my bag ready for the morning, she's going into Midland and would pick it up, guess she is tight for space and wants to make sure my bag fits lol
good think is I won't be taking it home just incase I go back for a few weeks at Christmas, then my clothes will wait for me.

Doing tracing of our 7th Annual DG Workshop..it's called: 'Sent from Heaven One Flake at a time"

Need 15 and traced all morning and got 6 done
by end of day I should be finished..

Verona, ON

Oh LK you made me smile with your photo of Blackie and Luna. Thanks to you and your DH for caring enough about this poor creature to open your home and hearts to it.Love labs and you will too.My Quill was a lab. Have never met a lab that was unhappy - always sweet, gentle and loving.

Duke goes to be neutered tomorrow. Still haven't told him - think I will wait until we get in the Escape and are off before I mention anything to him.

Thanks for the tip M. Have the toe already tapped to the next toe. I am no stranger to broken toes. The swelling was down some this am but after I was up for about an hour, walked the dogs and came back it was back up in size again. It even hurts to have a sock over it. My foot is a rainbow of colours. Hope your class will be more what you want or are looking for next week.

DH is doing an excellent job Thunder! Wow!!! How is his back these days?

Debbie 1 of my DNs went to work for Yahoo and experienced the same thing as Jenna. She stuck it out for 2 weeks thinking there must have been a mistake but alas it was all true. She too returned to her old job. I feel bad for Jenna as I know it must have taken some thought to leave her old job after 5 years there. How is Shannon making out with her new job?

Duke and Diesel are ready to pick the names once we are sure Betty everyone is IN thee exchange that wants to be. So do you want to do 1 last call here on the thread, I see Liz has joined but was concerned about not including Crissie. Did you hear anything Deb?

I was annoyed about the CC issue at the parking garage but am always able to laugh at myself with no problem. What did concern me though about the CC was what if it was an elderly person who doesn't have a CC. Do they hold them hostage in the parking garage until family comes to bail them out? It was a hospital parking garage and lets face it probably 60 % of the people using this facility are elderly. Around here, especially people in their 70's do not have CCs and think of them as the devil's instrument.

Can smell the chili I made in the slow cooker so think I will bottle it up. Was getting tired of eating cereal or pb sammie for dinner. This way I can freeze up some bowls and have it right ready. Maybe tomorrow I will make stew. The house smells so good. I forgot how good the house can smell when you are cooking.

Hello...waving to you all.

I got this info from a friend. It is a must read for dog owners.

http://www.nbcnews.com/health/pet-jerky-treat-mystery-nearly-600-animals-dead-still-no-8C11436330

My typing is limited to my left hand right now...and takes forever...(grumble...gripe) I have a brace on my right hand...I have tenosynovitis ( http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001242.htm )

Hope you are all well.

Dianne, Our guy Joe B is gonna be in New Orleans in late November...I could not believe the venue was sold out already. Guess I will have to hope he plays here again. 8-(

Best to you all,
Jean

AH Jean I am just listening to our guy Joe!! Was thinking and wondering about you. A glad you stopped by. Hurrah for Joe selling out quickly but boo and hiss for you not getting tickets.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean, how wonderful that you were able to drop in today! Was wondering how you were feeling..
slow progress is better than no progress...do you have the program on your computer that you can talk and it types for you, forget what it's called on my ipad? That would help somewhat wouldn't it?

Overall are you feeling better?

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

WELL!! Lets call this DAWGIE DAY on DAVES !
I just anwered this ad on Kijiji

Hope it comes through for you.
If not, here's a little info.
My BFF who I had coffee with today is a HUGE Kijiji fan .. she canoodles around it, sends me tidbits. When she got home today she got on Kijiji and someone had posted wanted to RE HOME a 5 year old female Westie named ZOEY.
I was over the moon as we (I) have wanted another Westie, and, a FEMALE.
I have sent them an email email, I want to know WHY re the re homing, and, if little Zoey gets along with other dogs, and, a cat.
NOW .. DH has been napping through all this, and I am unsure as to how he is going to react to it all ..
I'm still kind of unsure myself to tell the truth, but, boy oh boy, what a coincidence huh LindaK!

Betty .. good luck with the suitcase, and best thoughts re Sharon's impending litter, which I would imagine are all spoken for :-)

Hospital parking machines are RUTHLESS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thaks for the link Jean ^_^

This, my friends, will require feminine wiles and a lot of subliminal suggestion ^_^

hahaha! Love it...but if it works, go for it!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Sigh .. no email back from Zoeys present owners, and, hubby is still being a skeptic .. this is going to be a toughie ...

As well, I think I'm getting a chest cold .. BOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooo!!!!!!!!!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All

Love you ladies for taking care of our furry friends (as Betty calls them)... I do think Belle would like to have a dog one day....

may have to look into that...
LK Love you for taking in a stray... it's a funny thought a lot of chihauhuas hanging around... we don't see stray dogs with the city taking care of that (and hopefully in a responsible way)

2 new hires at work and I do believe GSM actually tried to apologize to me today for snapping at me yesterday.

I'm headed to NOLA tomorrow for a conference....have to get up early early

HUGS
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all...

Came in with Suzanne this morning, she saw snow/ice/wind and thought if I travelled with her I'd not fret and we could go to breakfast buffet downstairs..
now that was a waste of $$$, each of our bill was $16.18 and breakfast was terrible, food was cold..will know better next time.

Mary, I'll be thinking of you being down in my most favorite place, NOLA..wish I was there..lol
Don't think in the next year or so you will have a lot of time to look after another 'doggie' Bella will have to understand!

"M" 3 dogs??you will soon need a kennel license..how's the cold? Wasn't nice of you sending me the snow

Sharon is flat on her back, can't move so her friend who has an animal boarding facility is picking up pregnant 'mommy' and will keep her during birthing.
I will have to rethink my plan of leaving my car at her house so she can pick me up at the airport when I fly back but I know she often is hospitalized so don't want my car in Orangeville.
Sent a message to Rita asking if she could drive me into work tomorrow with my car then I'd worry about how to get from airport later, can always get the limo service

Bags are packed and at the door, I imagine when Darlene sees snow today she will be fretting.

Rita cooked supper last night, she was flying high, had appt. with bank and got preapproved to buy a house on her own..she wasn't sure that would be possible as they have the home on the lake that Gerry is staying in until he decides if he will keep it or sell it come spring so they factor that mortgage. She contacted a realtor, there is an older house just down near the lake within walking distance of foodland/LCBO/Post Office that she is interested in 1,900 sq.ft. so who knows maybe when I get home tonight she will have made an offer IF realtor could set up appt.
so guess I will be missing my houseguest soon

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Oh my Betty, poor Sharon. Is it he back that has gone out ?
Feel so bad for her what with her dog ready to whelp. Saying prayers for her

Well, had an email from Zoey's owner this morning. A young Mom with 2 small children, and, just not coping well with 'kids and dog', but, she just can't give her Zoey up .. had the dog first, then the children,.
I offered to take Zoey if Mom needs a break for a couple of days, we'll see, think she's just going through a phase, almost like a panic attack ..

The chest cold is stagnant at present, but, in my whizzy lil mind I can see the organsims toodling about trying to figure out whether to 'sock it to me' (and Gord), or, just give us a wee poke .. I vote for the latter thanks !!

NO snow here, but cold .. getting deer coming through, Does running from the Bucks who have one thing on their minds !

Making pickled beets today and an apple pie .. off to Univ again tonight, sure hope things get better with the classes.

Good luck Betty with all that's happening re Rita, and your trip etc.

NOLA ... one day ^_^

Hi everyone!! Yippee this house has wifi!!
Omg landed in Phoenix on monday. We are staying at a cottage in Prescott.
what a cool old town. It truly is every bit the Old West.
Had dinner at the Palace where Doc Holiday and? Lol forgot the name frequented.
Anyway the place is restored to originality. Just spectacular.
we made friends with the waitress and she and her husband are suppose to give us a tour
Of the area. We pretty excited.
Yesterday we went to see my nephew. And spent the rest of the day
Talking to lawyers and bonds people. This is just a complete mess.
we also went to "find" our grand nephew...Baby D. Sigh, we are trying to figure out how to deal with that issue too...where he is is jist not a good situation. At least not in our way of thinking...today we are going to get a police escort to get Shawns belongings and hopefully see Donavan! I will not leave here until I know his well being!

After we meet with the lawyer today and see D, we will head to the Grand Canyon! Will explore that tomorrow.

At home on the work front, the Print expert has given her 2 weeks notice, Big heavy sigh...
Cant blame her, she got a 9-5 Mon.-Fri. Job for what I was making at my last job.
So now it really is just me...my mgr. Has some good leads so we shall see.
For now Im just concentrating on this situation here.

Hope you arell doing well.
Betty, hope you have a great trip.

Victoria Harbour, ON

"M" might be just the thing, getting to doggy sit knowing you are helping out a family in need vs having the furry with you all the time, likely best of both worlds

Judy, sending prayers for sure..explosive situation..as you say main concern is baby 'D'

Glad that you will do some sight seeing in between of looking after family matters

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, a quick note from Crissy.....yes she wants in on craft.

I will let you know on the Santa Warren Dianne....she didn't answer that one.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Judy, sending lots of prayers for your situations in Arizona!

Betty, what did Sharon do to her back? Sending prayers for her too!

Lyndonville, NY

Dianne, YES....Crissy wants in on the Santa Warren exchange also!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, 12 of us,yippee!!!
Now Duke and Diesel can get excercise and provide us with our names
Hope they don't eat the slip of paper lol

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Have friends who have a home in Prescott in the winters, live in Phoenix otherwise. They LOVE Prescott!! Charlie Pride is their next door neighbour, however, they've never seen him ..
Sure do hope you make out OK with see the baby ..

Good news re the eveness of the Santa Warren list~

So far have made the apple pie, am waiting on DH to give the 'go ahead' re the beets, am thinking he doesn't want to do them today .. wish he'd just say so !

Lorna is still busy painting .. baseboards now ..

Best move along
