Thank you Barb, and every one. I KNOW Y'all care, and I will be counting on prayers for a safe tour of duty. and hugs....cause I will be in need.

I 'tiny fixed' my computer today by buying a new wireless mouse, kicking myself for the 3 weeks of utter frustration with the old one.
Staples had a nice one on SALE for $20. OFF, YAHOO .. works like a charm.
However, am still seeing some 'wobbles' with my system, whereas i very rarely ever shut it down or restarted it, I now have to do that daily, sometimes twice, it works, but, i KNOW it ain't right!

Busy day, have discovered I cannot walk at a very quick pace across a very large store trying to keep up with a salesperson ..

Rainy here, cool, woodstove is doin its job, plus making me TIRED LoL.

TGIF Tomorrow !

Dianne.... it was a very SHORT conversation where I insisted that this was "Hubby's Deal" with nothing to do with me.
waiting for something to happen next.

I had promised MIL I would come sit with FIL after department baby shower lunch at a restaurant beginning at 11:45. Got there 11:30. Bosses didnt show up till 12:15...we didn't (20+ of us) order until they ordered / got their drinks.

Grrr.

Sat with FIL 2p-4p though. He is doing much better and will move Monday ? to a hospital with better rehab facillities . He is trying to eat 'real' food now.

Thanks for all the prayers! Kathy had her scope today, and they found some irritation in her GI track, and said it just takes time to heal.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning .. up getting DH arranged and off with his bud to the West. Dogs are less than impressed, as soon as they see a suitcase, no matter how small, they know that "Dad is going away', and, since he's the one who walks them everyday, they know they'll be having jus runs around their compound for a couple of days, UNLESS I get really brave.
Entered their pics in Daves contest running now, votes appreciated, have an entry in the 'seasons' category as well.

LindaK, good news for your sister .. hope she continues to improve, same with your FiL Mary.

Best go and see what's up in the packing dept ^_^

Morning all

Drizzling, inside play day!

Lindakay, will they keep Kathy in the hospital until she gets stronger? Seems odd to lose that much weight because of irritation.

Mary great news about you FIL improving, how relieved you must be. Can't see how having your new venture has anything to do with witchiepoo unless it's affecting your job, none of her biswack ..think she should spend more time trying to keep employee rather than worry what they are up to.

Thinking of Katie, starting to get worried, been some time since she said she was travelling home.

Was it this week Judy was flying to Arizona.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't know how long she will stay in the hospital. Weight loss is due to her gastric bypass and her nausea.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

YES KATIE!! I asked a few days back but no reply. I would imagine she's home from Calif?

Blue Jays want feeding, I swear they know where we keep the peanuts hidden outside, fun to watch them take the peanuts (as many as they can) and hide them in the evergreens, only to have a squirrel go get'em and hide them for himself LoL
We feed the birds all winter, so there's lots for everyone .. peepers and squeakers.

Actually weight loss with gastric bypass is supposed to be gradual. A good friend has lost 100 pounds in 8 months.
My thoughts are with Kathy, hope her strength comes back.

Betty, enjoy a day IN .. can imagine you'll accomplish scads ..

Morning,

Had a couple busy days, and this afternoon will pick back up again when
I start running "my adopted sons" around for some adventure.

Took FIL to Erie on Wednesday as he has appt. in Cleveland yesterday.
Look like I might be going back to pick him up early next week. MIL was sick
and couldn't make the trip. Biting my lip....biting my lip....enjoyed FIL.

Have quite the chill here today....but sun is shining.

Waving good morning to all, enjoy your day.

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking for ages, but never joined in.

Linda Kay, I had gastric bypass surgery, and in the first 2 months, I lost about 50lbs, but never felt weak from it. After the first two months, the weight loss slowed a lot. In about a year, I lost a total of 150 lbs, but the first couple of months the weight loss was dramatic. There were a lot of things I couldn't eat, they just wouldn't stay down, but I found what I could eat, and ate every few hours, and it really worked for me. (I also ended up hospitalized for almost a month of that time from a complication (infection)) After the first few months I was able to add more things to my menu. By 6 months, I could eat practically anything. It's been over 6 years now, best decision I ever made (well, one of the best).

Deb

Marilynne be sure to remind us about the vote, we can't start until Nov. 1st. and my memory isn't that long.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Hahha Silio ... I hadn't even noticed that LoL, show's ya how with it I am!

Deb, my friend also said the bariatric surgery was ONE of the best things she has ever done for herself as well, she is just such an UPBEAT person now, vivacious and outgoing ..

Started my morning with a plugged toilet :-( .. soon as DH leaves, 'things happen' ..... grrrrrrrrrrrr .. so, I plunged, and, I plunged again , nadda .. so .. STUPID ME .. flushed the toilet!
You know where this is headed dontcha? Sure enough, up she came, now, you gotta picture this, I'm hooting to Lorna (she doesn't have her leg on yet is in her wchair) to bring me towels, the Westies are ON IT getting under foot, but at the ready to attack whatever it is Mom is so upset with .. Lorna can't find the 'raggy emergency towels in the linen cupboard, I steam outta the bedroom cane in hand and poke a bundle and carry them back to the bathroom, happily the 'spillage' was minimal .. so down go the towels, and I start to plunge again. NOW, any of you who have had to do this procedure are probably aware of the fact that shredded toilet paper floating around in a toilet bowl completely prevents you from seeing where exactly to place the plunger !! So, I'm plunging, but nothing is happening, the dogs now think this is no longer an emergency, but, a NEW game Mom has developed, they kinda like the swooshing sound of the water and proceed to get up and look into the bowl, now, this particular toilet has a plastic elevated seat, I didn't realize it had loosened with me doing all the plunging, Lilly rests her paws on the seat, Piper MUST also see, and, YESIREE .. boom, off comes the seat, the two dogs are still under the bed LoL .. I'm laughing NOW, but sure wasn't then, however, the toilet gods shone on me, there was an audible GAGLUG and the toilet is fixed ..
Towels are now in the washing machine, floor is washed, and, in a bit Lorna and I will re attach the seat, that is not an easy job, but, she has the arm strength to twist the sticker oner thingamee ... and ... so it goes, ain't life grand ^_^

Welcome Momcat..glad you will no longer be a 'lurker' and have joined in..always enjoy meeting new friends! that is one tremendous amount of weight..

want to stay and chat but expecting a friend for coffee, best I run and get out of jammies..

will read and reply shortly..she is only staying a few minutes, just passing through

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hi Momcat. It's nice to see a new face now and again. Welcome. We chat a lot here and love newbies to jump in.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Deb/Momcat, glad you decided to say hello!

"M" I had to laugh with your toilet story, I have been there several times! When my Dad was living here, he plugged the toilet all the time, if I did not watch how much toilet paper he was using!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Well LindaK, seems our problem 'out here in country', is water pressure .. our septic is A OK, but, it seems we have a pressure problem, not always, just sometimes, this morning was one of the 'sometimes', in actual fact it seems that whenever DH goes out of town, something happens here , cabinet door falls partially off, water heater blows a fuse yadda yadda.

Cleaning cupboards here and rearranging countertops, be nice while it lasts, DH is not known for his neatness !

Cheerio ^_^

"M" always the way, not till hubby leaves that all hell breaks loose.
So glad (except when I have to pay $450 every 3 months) that I have water and sewer..no worries that major expenditure is looming.

yikes, pulled a Sharon..fell off the chair here while typing..guess I was sitting too close to the edge!

Lordy I'm an accident waiting to happen, either that or I'm just not careful..

going for hot bath..yikes

in the meantime did get the blue and yellow quilt top off the frame, now if only in my stash I have blue so I can make the border and spend the evening hand sewing it

got the strips for the twister pumpkin, was going to sew on it but......

LOVE Blue with Yellow .. beautiful Betty.
Is the Pumpkin one the same as the one LindaK is making?

Spent some time outside today, sunny but cool ..

Presently baking liver for the dogs, gag me !

~M~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yuck on the liver.

Baton Rouge, LA

Too Funny Marilyn.... Belle is just the same...she "knows" when Hubs bags are packed and pouts. He takes her for walks.... I don't even hold a leash with her as she is stronger than I and almost took my thumb off once (long story)

Yes Betty - it definitely should not matter "what hubby" is doing. The next few weeks should be very interesting...according to the company policy (which I have read) it shouldn't matter if hubby is opening a business....but "witchy poo" gave me the worst look the other day in passing. I haven't talked to her at all about it but to her supervisor who has been interestingly easier for me to reason with.

Welcome Momcat and congratulations on the weight loss ! Very healthy choice ! (HUGS)

Never knew that it was a gradual thing. Hope the info helps LK and Sis.

Hubs and I headed to Natchitoches this weekend....DSD20 on the Northwestern Dance Team and our (probably ) only chance to watch her before "it hits the fan" with the business.

Love you all my friends...

Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

"M" similar to the one LindaKay made, have the pattern for witch's hat, if I've leftover fabric I shall make it. The pumpkin is for Mel and the hat I would give to Julie.

Double yuk on the liver..

Mary, glad you were able to speak to someone in the company, not like you are trying to hide it.
Hooe you enjoy your time away..how right you arem once you open your own business you will not have much time to be road running. How is the hiring of staff going..remember, smile they must

Linda is coming over at 7:30 to make shams for the quilt she made, she is just excited, her very 1st and it turned out nice so decided to get up as I couldn't sleep..

Who knows, perhaps after coffee and toast I just might rest my head for a bit.. Don't you love sleepless nights.

After finishing the binding on the quilt last night I went to bed, dozed off during a show, wouldn't you know, it's being replayed this morning and I get to watch the ending. Lol

This afternoon after Linda leaves if not too late I have a few errands to run..need a roll of plastic to close in the back deck..because I'm short and shoulders neck giving me the whatfor when arms are above the waiste I will wait until Rita comes back..she is 6'2" so she can just hold it while I use air stapler.

Tomorrow, unless its pouring rain i really have to put everything away for the winter..should really hang Christmas lights so I don't have to do it when freezing

Guess those of you in the far south don't need to close up for the winter.

Lost a pumpkin strip, know I finished it this morning but no can find, guess I have to make another..how can you loose something when you don't even leave the room you are working in?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like one of the kitties took it?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the welcome!!

I love your quilts Betty.

Off to work on the storm windows and get some yard work done. Talk of a frost near the Wis border tonight, and a chance of snow Monday night, need to get a lot of outside work done, and plants brought inside, on the slim chance they may be right.

Deb

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Morning all ..

On the 'run' (lol) here .. going for Dim Sum and have some chores to complete before we bug out ..

Betty, I find that 'missing in action' scenario to be so frustrating. Several years back I was actually MAKING DS a Halloween costume, had satiny pieces in it, 5 of them, went to do something in another room, came back, there are THREE there. Now, I am home ALONE, animals were out, I went toodlie thump looking for them, finally gave up, felt the house was haunted. Gord comes home, walks into the room I had turned upside down, watches me rant for a bit, walks over and PULLS the 2 missing pieces off my butt !!!!! Static had stuck them to my knit pants !!

Mary, I sure do hope this 'witchy person' (who is obviously a very unhappy person) keeps her thoughts to herself re your venture~
Enjoy your time away ...

Betty, B Careful with the close up, I do think when we get home, seeing as it's sunny, but only 34F, we will get out the ATV and put away some stuff, if we can't manage it, will wait for Gord to come home, but, I see it IS snowing down Winnipeg way :-(
Have a patio table and some chairs that need to go night night for a few months .. sigh ..

Off I go

TOODLES

Victoria Harbour, ON

"M" no work outside, poured rain all day..still doing so

Deb (Momcat) did you get your winterizing done...how far from Chicago are you?

LindaKay, only ones I have to blame are the kitties but it's more my coming upstairs/downstairs, carrying things and setting them down..

Was nice when the boys were home and Roger was alive, always someone to blame (grinning)

Had a fun day with Linda, she arrived minutes before 7:30am and we worked until 4pm

made her pillow shams to match the quilt she made, she's thrilled with end result

Then with all the scrap pieces sitting on the table and done with shams at 11:30am said why not make a project..she went home with a black/white tote bag, think she will give it to her girlfriend.

Darlene dropped n, she had been to see her mom and a woman mid 60's came to gab..said her kids brought her to the home for a week while they went on vacation and that was 3 months ago, poor thing..Darlene said she once loved to paint so we made up a care package..few pieces of wood, I had some new brushes not used, some paints, tracing and graphite paper..Darlene will brng it to her in the morning

Did find the strip that I was missing this morning, I had sewn it to the wrong end of the piece..Lordy am I losing it or what. Lol

Had thought I could cut out the twister pieces tonight but not going to happen.

Next time I go downstairs I will post photo's

deb, tks for the compliment re quilts

Sorry to hear about the lady in the nursing home. That is so sad. I sure hope she did not give them her home or belongings.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thunder, thanks for the ideas re our 7th Annual Workshop..
the wooden tree I believe I did with Norm/Barb, or perhaps I gave them the template..trying to remember, might be difficult to post..also did and I'm not sure what, could be snowman with lights throughout as a snowy evening, that might be easier....love the snowman

wish I hadn't napped for an hour, likely be up all night now, not lol

picture of the pumpkin piece before I use twister template and cut it up

Looks like you made her into quilter! You need to add one more of black all the way around your pumpkin.

Victoria Harbour, ON

after it's cut with the twister LindaKay I will add black narrow strip then a 2" orange print then black for binding

they only call for orange binding but think I'd like the extra width/length

LindaKay, you are right, although they don't show a black row all around it should have

guess I have to add, not a problem but it will be morning time for sure, glad I bought extra dark fabric

Morning all,

Was having a wonderful sleep until the storm blew in..lots of boom/bang/rumbling along with heavy rains so up I am.

Guess another day inside playing.

Sure sign of fall, first night since early spring that Riley chose to sleep inside..

Friday afternoon I leave for Florida, not looking forward to the long drive but am looking forward to walking along the beach. Guess I could pack my bag which I shall leave in. Florida till I next head down.

So what are you all up to today, anything special? Here is hoping it will be more exciting than my play day.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

How long will you be in Florida?

Victoria Harbour, ON

leaving this Friday, likely the drive will take until Sunday afternoon..I'll spend all week and fly home Sunday..might depending on weather book a flight Sat. a.m. seeing it's Lenny's 65th and they are always so kind to me..have to see..Suzanne told me no but I feel I should.

seeing the pumpkin piece I already started cutting I didn't add extra dark blocks, will pick up more tomorrow and do it to the 2nd one if I get time this week

amazing just how you get about 1/2 size from piece you make of blocks, but the effect is stunning after the twister cuts

almost 1/2 done the top..hoping to finish it by late afternoon and call Melanie to come pick it up..

ohh dryer just stopped, time for ironing
