Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Marilynne, I just Googled them. They are available through Amazon.com. Can be ordered. Give them a try. They really do work well. Now called Hot Shot No Pest Strips

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, wondered where you got off to..great news about the jobs
I have the foam matress as well, sleep very comfortably when I sleep lol

Have you moved into the new house..sorry to hear about the flood, sure hope you had insurance.

"M" yep, going to have to turn the a/c on tonight..actually had furnace on..what a difference in weather.

Can't believe I'm not tired, thought I'd be snoozing, perhaps once I get home, lay on the couch I'll doze.

worked on a rag quilt for my uncle Allan today, made great headway.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty I finally found that Best for Christmas quilt magazine at JoAnn's. after striking out at 4 Walmarts.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you found it Karen. Don't you just want to do everything that is in it?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I also saw a Fons & Porter Christmas that seemed to have your name all over it at JoAnn's. It wasn't with the regular magazines. but with the quilting books.

I definitely will do the tree skirt. JoAnn's just got in their Christmas fabrics and I could have sat and drooled the day away. Dang why wasn't I born rich instead of so good looking? LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

It was my storage unit that flooded and to get flood insurance you have to pay extra for it and very few insurance companies actually have it, so no nothing was insured. Just for you guys to know, all I had was my bedroom set, Dave took the other bedroom set, both dining tables and chairs, all of the living room furniture, all of the lawn equipment and outdoor furniture, half the silverware, he took everything even though he was supposed to split it with me, so I didn't have much to lose to begin with, which is good. I'm starting completely over and it feels wonderful!

Yes we have moved into the new-to-me house and it's so tiny but we love it!! I need to have a reunion here!

That's great news about the mattresses, we were wondering if it would hold up, no need to worry about that!

Hi Dianne!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just bought Quilted Christmas Traditions the other day, do not encourage me Karen! Smilling here, when do I need encouragement? I'm going to Buffalo evening of the 23rd and spending a few hours at Joann's, almost afraid to look at Christmas fabric,I've enough to start my own store...what I don't need is more Christmas fabric....do I?

What have you been sewing on?

Stopped at staples to do some poto copying..might sit and play cut outs for a stained glass piece then early to bed.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Looking forward to seeing photo's Crissy's, bet it is adorable

Meant to ask, what king of jobs did you get and will you still continue at Hobby Lobby!

Verona, ON

Hi Crissy!! I am so glad to see you. Very happy you are in your new home - exciting times.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I still need to download pics into Picasa!

I am going to keep working at Hobby every other Saturday until November, then every Saturday through the new year then I'll let it go. That will be enough time for me to know if this new job is for me and it will help OkHee (pronounced Okie, she's Japanese), the store manager, out. I've become pretty close to her since I transferred up here, funny we used to argue all the time when she worked in Little Rock before she got her own store up here.

Yes Dianne! In my new home and starting my life over, it's very exciting!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

good grief - gone during the day, at work, and I can't keep up!!

Prayers for all in need (and we ALL need 'em!!)

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All;

I'm lurking.... just a lot going on right now.... probably should post more might keep the panic attacks and chest pains away LOL.....HAHA!
Dianne good to see you I need to take some morning walks to calm me down.... (HUGS)

FIL still in ICU. Very thankful for all your prayers and well wishes....

Crissy good to see you too... a fresh new start and much excitement....good news.

M; you have probably tried this but a solo cup, cider vinegar and a dash of detergent, and saran wrap rubberbanded on the top with toothpick holes. That is what works for me. Fruit flies are my mortal enemies... LOL

Betty and friends probably having FALL/AUTUMN weather about now....

Tried to see Jean/Moonie today but I had a rough morning...so maybe later this week...

As one would expect the "SPACE" (Our rented area for the business) has been delayed in being given to us. Time is money and the clock is ticking since the business loan was taken 8/30 so we will try to negotiate a credit towards first month. I'm working on insurance, and contracts needed for us to have our space (Pest and AC) and Hubs is working on equipment purchases and booths/tables for the cafe.

HUGS and love to all
Mary

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Still have my cough but even better today. I have a doctor appointment Wednesday so we all know I will be well by Wednesday.

My mow and blow guys come on Tuesdays so I spent about 5 hours in the back landscape doing a major cutback and dead heading. I love it when I can garden on Monday because they will clean it all up on Tuesday. It is so much easier when you do not have to pick it up and haul it to the garbage cans.

We had a major wind blow through Las Vegas around 4:30pm. Closed the airport, but a big pepper tree branch in our pool and a bunch of leaves it blew off the trees. I skimmed the top of the pool but the tree branch is to big for me to take out of the pool. So that will be something else for the landscapers to do tomorrow.

Our high today was 85. Humidity was 44% which we are usually 2% to 5%. My skin and my trees think we have moved to Hawaii.

All you girls are so talented with your hobbies. I am not to talented with anything like that. Just gardening.

I am sending you all a photo of our double rainbow from this afternoon. Taken by a friend's daughter. Probably on her I Phone.

You all have a great day tomorrow. Betty, praying you do not wake up in the middle of the night.

Hugs, Sharon

Morning,

Finally was in the deepest of sleep when this storm rolled in. Biggest crack of lightning/thunder that I jumped right out of bed thinking it had hit the house!

Figured I should go unplug the computer and sewing machine..sounds like its off in the distance now, doubt I shall fall asleep now.

Susan, how did work go today?

Mary, glad your being away wasn't due to more problems with FIL!
Here is hoping you get to visit with Jean..sure miss her..give her a big hug from us won't you?
Lots involved getting your venture going, hopefully soon your worry will be in the past and it will be full speed ahead. Great that Lance is as excited as you.

Sharon, sorry to hear you are still unwell..I'm thinking you sent the storm my way. Now that you have please send me your landscapers..hooe no damage to the pool
Love the double rainbow photo..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Beautiful photo. Glad you are okay Sharon.

Sending prayers for Betty, Dianne, Thea, Deb and Mittsy as I watch this big storm pass through them and head toward us. It doesn't look pretty! Hope you are all okay.

Only got three blocks done yesterday as I ended up with some company and when I went back to it the old back said enough... I guess it's been a while since I sat in the sewing position and my back needs to get used to it again. Today I hope to get the blocks finished and then start on the hand sewing to make the centers. I'm really please with how it is going to look.

Had a wonderful phone talk with Judy the other night. She is always so upbeat when we talk. I'm so happy that her job is working out the way it is. She just bubbles when talking about it.

Sending waves to "M", Mary, Dianne, LK and everyone else. Off to the machine!!!!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

HAPPY Tuesday everyone ^_^

Betty, I apologize for sending the storm to you .. we got rain, but, the KABOOM part seems to have gone easterly, Lake Superior dodged it for us once again. Still kinda spittering out there.
Dogs have their hackles upm so, undoubtedly a bear is near by, happy they have an enclosure to go out and do their business in .. will certainly have both eyes WIDE open as we go back and forth to the garage. We missed 'dump day' on Saturday, so, it'll be today instead.

Sharon .. happy to hear you have a 'clean up crew' coming in. I can't imagine having to get a tree limb out of a pool by myself!! As for the cough, it seems the summer cold that went the rounds up here was almost the same re the dry cough lasting for weeks.
LOVED the rainbow pic.

Mary .. my goodness, your business venture is sure something. Just think though, in another 6 weeks, or less, it'll be UP and running. All the best. Hugs for your FIL.

Barb, best give the back a break! Nothing worse than an grouchy back .. sounds as thought the quilt is coming along though.
I washed my kitchen chair cushions and have a slight problemo with one :-(
The buttons (or whatever they are) that make the cushion 'dimpled', let go .. now I have one huge 'plaid puff ball', I think I might have to TRY and sew 4 buttons through it to make it appear 'cushiony' once again .. HEY .. I have a project LoL

Crissy, you sure do sound happy, makes me smile ^_^

Best get moving, have those ding dang exercises to do, AND, the Blue Jays are squawking for peanuts !! A positive sign that FALL is arriving ..
As well .. the Hummies seem to have gone :-(

Have a super day all

TOODLES

Good morning,

Barb, storm lasted maybe two hours and really wasn't much but noise. It seemed very high and the lightening was crossing across sky, not coming down. I hope it stays that way if it reaches you.

I am not sleeping much, did well for two days, and then last night wide awake again.

Leave Thursday for Cleveland, and staying over night to visit Pauls family down there.
Allergiest/Immunologist appointment today.

Waving to all......miss you!

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Storm now on its way to Dianne..

Couldn't get back to sleep, drats

Not sure the girls will be at the house, hope they are as I left them kits to make themselves holding bags for HOT curling iron
.
Barb, body telling you to take it easy, anxious to see the finished top..sure do smile when Judy calls, she's contagious with her excitement

"M" I never have luck with washing chair cushions, maybe time for new ones.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Missing you as well Debbie, sending prayers

Know you've been overwhelmed of late, sleeping sure not helping. Sure hope I can give you hugs personally on the 24th

Hope you get some answers in Cleveland

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Coffee is ready.
Sorry to hear about the tree branch in the pool. What is a pepper tree?
Mary sure you can get your building soon and start your business.
Betty I sure hope you had no problems from that lighting strike.
Barb have fun sewing but don't over do it.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Sorry to hear of all the rough weather everyone is having. I would enjoy some rain right now...things dry out so quickly with this 90 plus weather.

Mary, glad to see you checking in also.

Waving to all.....have someone on their way to pick up several boxes of excess Christmas items we no longer use. Posted on free cycle and so happy to see them go! Besides neither me nor my daughter can resist buying something new each year so it was time to reduce the stash.

Have a great day all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

just called the house, Ann was with the girls
some good news, some not so good

Alex is doing well, just over 4 lbs...took breathing apparatus off and if he does well the next few days when a crib becomes available they will try him in it..

Addy not doing as well, head is swollen, blood clot where the equipment keeping her alive go in..Ann says she looks dreadful and they are worried.

Ann will travel north tomorrow to spend the day with Toby, he is improving daily, praying no more set backs

As always, prayers appreciated!!!

Marion, so glad I don't live closer as I likely would have answered your add re picking up christmas items lol

LindaKay how is your friend today...not knowing where to turn re her daughter right.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

She is doing OK, just so frustrated that no one will help her. She begged the judge at court for help, and the judge just told her they need to get along, she only has 10 month till the daughter turns 18, so just tough it out! Pretty sad! When they left the hospital yesterday, the daughter was told she had to go to mental health for counseling. Well, I guess she went, because Josie was telling me last night that after her daughters visit, the counselor called and wanted to know why she hates her daughter so much? Josie said I do not hate my daughter, I lover her to death, it is her actions I hate, not her. She runs away all the time when she can't get her way at home, she gets in her mothers face and calls her bad names...

Debbie, good luck for your trip today!

So sorry to hear about Addy, but we will keep them in out prayers. They have come this far, and I know they will be going home soon!

Victoria Harbour, ON

system sure doesn't make life easy for parents having problems with their children!

Oh Betty that storm hit here about 4 am. Man it was loud! Had 2 cats and Diesel on the bed with me for a couple of hours while the T and L played itself out. I had just fallen asleep when the T and L started so I am joining Debbie in the non sleeping club. Too bad that lake is between us Debbie we could get together for tea and a yack.

Mary this is for you - Diesel and I have been going on this long circuitous (sp?) route in the morning and finding lots of wild life. Its a little stinky along Mosquito Creek as the ^**%^$% beaver have dammed it up so we walk that part rather quickly. We've seen adult and young blue herons, the fox kits have really grown, there is an osprey we see most days and it seems to fly over us as we walk along. The adult herons are so used to Diesel now that they won't fly off if Diesel sits in the rock beside them. I need Debbie here to take photos. I tell Diesel every morning Mary that we are doing this walk for you . Diesel helped us with the wood on Sunday - his help consisted of taking logs off of the newly stacked pile and taking them over to the side door. Hopefully he will remember to do this once the weather cools.

LK I saw the photo of Luna you posted on Coffee. She is beautiful and that was a lovely shot of her. Sending positive thoughts and prayer for your friend and her DD.

Barb I am so glad you got to talk with our Judy. How do you like having the smaller place? Lots less to clean that is for sure. Anxious to see your new creation.

Sharon I love the phrase "mow and blow' guys. Had me chuckling thinking about it. Hope your cold is better.

Jean I was sending you positive vibes and thoughts in the night last night as I listened to our Joe and Lowell Fulton.

Cleaning lady is here - what a gem she has turned out to be for Diesel and I.

Enjoy your day ladies. Make sure you do something nice for yourself today.

I am just shaking, along with mega tears..

Greg just called me, wanted to give me some news re Noah.

lots behind the scenes that I'm learning happened over last 24 hrs.

Greg found some drugs in his garage and Noah's bedroom

confronted Noah who hasn't been to school since 1st day of school a week ago
hasn't been to work either..

guess Noah took off in a rage

Noah called Melanie and said 'goodbye' my heart stopped at this point

Greg went to police station, turned drugs in, explained the situation, told of Melanie's converstion with Noah, police went in search of him, found him and drugs, laid charges , thank the Lord, might be his only salvation

he is now in the hospital under 24 hr watch, lock down..they are having a doctor come from the city but might not be for a few weeks so he will be kept until he's assessed (?)
Tough love, how did my little one end up like thing

know I've asked a lot for prayers but sure hope you can prayfor us

Verona, ON

((((Betty)))) Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers to Noah, you, Greg and Melanie. Hard, hard situation to be in ......am hoping the hospital stay will put Noah in touch with people he can trust to help him get his life back in order. You know Betty a gazillion parents and grandparents ask themselves every day the same question "How and Why"??? I know it is not much comfort hearing that but I wanted you to know your family is not alone. Noah needs to acknowledge his problems and all you can do until he does is just be there for him.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

thanks Dianne, just can't stop sobbing, Paul called at same time as Greg was on the line, called me back and told me to go home..best I stay here, been thinking of going to the hospital after work to see Noah..not sure about that yet

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Sending TONS of love, hugs and prayers to you and your family Betty.
Noah is in the RIGHT place right now ..
As Dianne said, we've all been touched by this problem in one way or another .. with me it was my nieces son .. 14 .. he ended up in ICU for 3 days from a drug overdose/interaction .. help that followed after turned him right around, he's 18 now and entering university .
Useless to tell you not to fret, it's in every woman's nature.
Just know we're ALL in your corner, just so happy the police found him !!

~M~

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Betty, my heart is breaking reading about Noah. He is where he needs to be, not much consolation I know, but so hoping he gets the proper counseling and help needed. Sending prayers for everyone.

mulege, Mexico

Linda, Kay, If the counselor called and began with that kind of accusation, a report should be made to the supervisor. That is totally unacceptable behavior and should not be tolerated. I'm remembering a "friend" in AA who tried to start a conversation with me that way. She's still angry that I don't regard her as a buddy.

crissy, glad to hear things are going well.

Betty, many, many prayers for all your friends in need. And for the rest of us.

Waiting for the mechanic who seems to be missing his third appointment.

katie

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, my heart is aching for you. Be sure and check first if it's OK for you to visit with him. Also know it's going to be so heart wrenching for you. Be prepared for pleas and promises that he is unable to keep at this point. Not because he doesn't mean it at the time, but the pull of the drugs is more forceful than anything else in his life. He will say and do anything to be able to get more. We all have our arms around you.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

betty, he's in the right place. my daughter is dying of aids, because she refused to stayb in btreatment anytime she went. am praying for you, and noah, and the family

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Dear Lord, we ask that you keep our dear friend Betty wrapped in Your love as she deals with this problem. Her love for Noah is known to all and we ask for Noah's healing and his understanding that he is where he is because his family loves him. We pray he will be able to get the help he needs to turn away from these drugs and the bad behavior that they cause. In Jesus' name. Amen.....
Love you Betty and holding you close in my heart..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Also sending lots of thoughts and prayers for the family! Praying this is his wake up call.
Katie I will tell my neighbor to file a complaint.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

AMEN!

Lyndonville, NY

(((Betty)))) I so want to hop in the car and cross the border for you!

Be aware, they may not let him have visitors right now. Usually til they have doctors
talk and work out a plan...even the parents. BUT I don't know Canada rules and regulations.

He is in a good place now....and safe. AND...from my experience with two of my kids in this
issue....when they call to say goodbye....they are waiting for you to come help them and search.
That is hope...and prayers

Victoria Harbour, ON

Amen!

Than you all, guess over the years you've seen/heard that Noah holds a special place in my hear, the most like me he is..

Thanks Debbie

Just overwhelmed that I can't fix this for Noah and for Greg/Melanie

As for Kyle he's from a difference place, Aspergher Syndrome only shows him black/white and no inbetween, no sure how he is taking this!

Only worry about trying to go tonight is if I can't keep it together, might help him see that/might not

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty, heed the advice others are giving you....it might not be the time for you to see Noah. Hard as that seems, it is for the best. A couple of years ago, Kim was hospitalized for stress caused by her job...unfortunately it was 3 days before any of the family was allowed to see or visit with her. Hurts like everything but now I know it was what was needed not just for her but me as well. Sending a hug and many, many prayers.
