Happy birthday Barb, enjoy your sewing ^_^
I like all the quilts pictured!
My D in L friend is gone, but, gave life to 4 other people .. heart, lungs and kidneys were donated.
Am in a real funk about this and I only ever met Michelle once.
POURED rain here, had to pull the car over on the expressway it was coming down so hard, then, BANG, it stopped !!
Have decided to just wash the seat cushions I have and call it good ..
~M~
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends,new/old
Betty, when you say drop 9, do you mean disappearing 9 patch?
Happy Birthday Barb!!! Have a wonderful day!
"M" She's in the Lord's hands now. Can just imagine how you are feeling, doesn't seem right for someone so young to die. those who will receive organs are blessed! hugs "M"
LindaKay yes, don't know why I keep saying drop 9, am sure if I say it again you will know which I am doing.
Another 45 minutes and I'm off to the stained glass studio, only two concessions away..will get what I need and homeward bound to cut grass...hate to stop what I'm doing, quilting is doing so well I could have the blanket off the frame tonight. At least with how I'm doing it I'm not raging seeing a quilt just sit there.
Debbie what are you up to?
Wahoo!! My son came this afternoon to help me start the finishing up of the "dungeon"....see the grin on my face!!!! Life is getting better.
Cleaning and de-furring the house. They all shed at once!!!
I thought that was a unwritten rule that they all shed at once. Seems so around here and we only have cats.
Debbie, that is a job in a half..I only have the two kiddies and this morning when I vacuumed couldn't believe what I vacuumed up. Fall cleaning, getting ahead of the game.
Marion, can indeed see you grinning from ear to ear..it's been a project long time coming.
Bet he's tops in your books today. Sharon always says when I do something nice for my mom ' ahhh your name is 1st on the will today' lol changes from day to day!
Marion meant to ask, is there still a lot to do?
well it's off to the stained glass studio, drats, about another hour and the quilt would be off the frame..now I have to get dressed and ruin a perfectly good day at home in my jammies
So sorry for the family and Michelle, too. It will be difficult but a blessing for the gift receivers.
Wanted to tell you all that Bertie makes pickled beets. She buys those little beets in cans and then pickles them in her canning jars. Still taste just like home made, but without all the mess of working with the fresh beets.
Happy Birthday, Barb. Sending a birthday hug....did you get it yet????? ^_^
Watering right now. We are so, so dry. The temps have cooled some, especially at night, but we haven't had any rain for weeks. We had so much this Spring that I thought we wouldn't have to be praying for water, but here we are!!!
Katie, stay safe. Have you in my prayers.
Betty, be glad you don't have something worse to whine about!!!! ;o)
Betty, we are to the sanding of the drywall stage getting ready to prime (actually seal with Bullzeye) and paint. Then he will help me put up the bead board and to finish I will paper above the beaded board. Done!!! Oh forgot..he is putting up crown mold instead of the plain unfinished at top look.
Cookie, great idea about the beets. Had never thought to do it that way. I hope I can find some in the store this weekend as I am hungry for some now.
Big sigh, trying to see if I have enough energy to keep on plugging
Got the lamp fixed for mom..was wondering why I was hungry, dats didn't eat breakfast nor lunch. Ham/tomato sandwhiches calling me first
Omg Joyce, give Bertie a hug and you for mentioning it, will head out to grocery store in the am and see about canned beets.
Marion, that taping makes one heck of a mess, don't envy you the dust, filters right through the house and onto everything..are you having trouble finding wallpaper?
I've been looking at Color Your World and everything is so modern..want to do my living room/dining room and entry but I'm more country than modern..when you all purchase wallpaper, where do you buy it from, name of chain please, would love to find some when I go to buffalo
As im typing im seeing the grass, calling for rain here tomorrow, maybe I best cut grass once I've eaten
Sending birthday hugs for Barb. Happy Birthday sweet lady!
Happy birthday, Barb. Enjoy yourself.
The storm is shrinking.
Tony and I made a brief trip to town. No pain killers in the mail. Can't believe how much my body hurts. Came home and went to sleep for five hours. Dry food for the dogs tonight.
hugs, katie
I found the address exchange. Go to the top of the page and click on guides and info, the address exchange is to the right of the page.
Thanks LindaKay, found it yesterday just by a fluke!
Katie told you it was going to miss you, we've been blowing/blowing in an entirely different direction...sorry about the meds not being there. Likely come once you've left.
Dianne, how are things gong your way? Feeling a tad better?
third looks nice out there, grass all cut, weeding done in the ditches but I'm plum tuckered out, sweating like crazy, water just dripping down my face, time for a sit in a hot tub.
Accomplished much today, about 1 hr left and quilt could come off frame, NOT going to do it..might though go play and cut out kits for the girls, they leave $$$ for me lately for use of house, cannot convince them not to so seeing as they liked the idea of the curling iron bags I made with heat resistant inner fabric so you can put your iron inside hot, great for travelling I will make them each a kit.
bought the heat resistant fabric on Wednesday, cut to size, going to look through my larger pieces of scraps, batting, trim and Velcro and make the 5 of them a kit,. If they want to leave me money I will make sure they get it back in another form.
Called mom to say her lamp is repaired, she was in such a hurry, ended up telling me that she won't be at the cottage for a few weeks..big sigh
Time for hot bath, spray myself with freeze, pain killer and likely go work on kits for an hour then call it a night.
Now have with yard done 2 days to play, want to join me? Wish you could..
Off for hot bath
Sure wish I was closer Betty!
Happy Happy Barb, sorry it's late was on the road all day. Back in MI darn it.
Loving Norm's quilt and the 3rd one, be a toss up over which one I like the best.
Betty, I have one faucet that isn't high and it irks me every time I have to use it. I can't use the canned beets as I make up a bushel in order for hubby to have a years worth. Besides the deal is, he wants them he does the peeling and cutting. He gave so many away that he ran out this year and I did make him a few with canned beets to tide him over. He eats them every day, loves them on cottage cheese.
Karen high faucet in kitchen/laundry room so I'll go for a fashionable set in the washroom.
drats, took my bath too soon, Greg is working at the snowmobile shop earning extra points for this winter, loves the sales lol so Melanie dropped in, wanted to know if I wanted to go for icecream in Midland..brought an extra helmet
ahhh too tired, wet hair, took meds and calling it a night..told her next time call a bit earlier so I can go with her.
Aw heck put on a helmet and no one will see your hair...for ice cream? I'd be in.LOL
What happened to your sense of adventure Betty. I would have gone for ice cream too - pajamas and all!!!
Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes. It's really nice to be remembered.
Waiting for Norm to get home from work. He had to go to Maine for a job and they then sent him all the way up to Bar Harbor. He is so mad because I was left alone today. I told him I would pull up my big girl panties and be fine!!! And then my son Bob dropped in with cards. I had dinner with Stacy and had phone calls from Dave (near Vermont) and Tony (in Colorado.) So it was a great day even though he was gone. We will have a good day together just us on Sunday when we go to the ocean.....
Barb, that sounds like a nice day, and a trip to the ocean is beautiful!!!!
wow u ladies are chatty - couldn't keep up, so here's what I caught.....
Marilyn - hope your hip is doing better....... and that the lady who passed away (your DinL's friend?) - thoughts and prayers are with the family...
Betty - did the Janome fit on your cutting table? (I think it was ur cutting table?)
Your "boys" are sure growing up fast.......
Katie - I hope things are going well with the retirement board....... how very frustrating to get so abused by them - T&P for you, m'dear!!
Today at noon, I found out that a church sister (in her late 70's) passed away (my pastor emailed me). The service is to be Thurs afternoon, and of course I cannot attend. She leaves her husband and children to mourn............
She was in the hospital, as she wasn't well, but was rallying when she passed.
Morning,
Slept well last night but now wide awake so guess I'm starting my day.
Susan, how did last week go work wise? Did Bob end up doing roof for $200? If he did the owners know they took advantage of him...sorry to hear of your friends passing
My Janome did fit the quilting frame and the quilt is almost ready to come off.
MEOW, purrrrrrrrrrrrr, MEOW, chirp chirp!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr .. Smokey was 'at it' again last night. He's missing DH, plus, he's 19 and likely suffering from, I'm thinking, dementia? Sometimes he is like a kitten, bee boppin around, and at other times, like 2am/5am .. he starts his 'talking'.
Lets just say I was up early ..
Going for DIM SUM today, so being up early isn't a bad thing.
Putting on, and pulling up those 'BIG GURL PANTIES' is sometimes a toughie Barb, but, we all seem to be able to do it when it's called for, I call it my 'reserve tank' LoL
Yesterday, for the first time in MONTHS, I put on jeans!!! Now, you have to remember, I use a reacher to accomplish that !! By the time I got'em on I was convinced I'll be wearing sundresses until Christmas !! I was puffing and panting like an old steam engine .. I could have asked for help, but, too proud to do that !!!
Betty, that Spyder is quite the machine, When Lorna bought the Mule (ATV, not a donkey) she had flirted with purchasing one of them, she sat on one, said she felt safe .. but, with all the work she does on the property, the Mule was more sensible.
Heck, I would have gone too, altho, would have had to ride 'side saddle' LoL
Humidity is back for one LAST visit I hope.
Katie, has the storm gone by ? I sure do wish you well with the meeting up north. It's no fun having to go into something like that .. but, I feel you'll do well as long as you have your paperwork in order. Don't let them push you!!
Guess I should hit the shower
Have a stellar weekend everyone!
TOODLES
~M~
then I'm not the only one up at the crack of dawn, heck before the crack of dawn..lots accomplished already.
lol at the jeans "M" might go to Sears this week and look for a good pair of stretch jeans, after wearing these light outfits all summer sure not looking forward to it.
Mel and Greg are so enjoying the spider, problem is Melanie likes it just as much as Greg, told me the dealership where Kyle and Noah work part time just got a pearl white one in, she sure would like it...
glad snowmobiling season will start shortly that way she might just get rid of the urge.
Got the 5 kits for curling iron bags cut for the Tuesday girls, will make a few at different steps so they see how I did them..guess I've enough to make 6 for myself, can be stocking stuffers
about 10 more minutes and quilt comes off the frame, means if I have enough black fabric for binding I'll have something to hand sew tonight.
will this help those of you interested in the pumpkin throw?
"Anger boiled down and cooled to icy implacable logic laced with gallows humor, is the best way to handle situations like that" wrote a friend on another thread. I am getting there. The meeting is the afternoon of Sept 19; please send up a few prayers for me. The really great thing I have going for me is 27 years of similar experiences. It's hard for them to claim "you fell through the cracks" with that history.
Meanwhile, the hurricane has run out of steam and is now a mild tropical storm which may bring us some rain but is not a danger for high winds at this time. We have done more hurricane prep in case another comes along while I'm gone.
And my medicine arrived today!!! Tony went to town and tracked down Mario the postman who was not at the postal as he'd said he would be but was findable. Advantages of a small town. I was able to take my anti-depressants and a pain killer that I was out of. My mood should lift soon.
How are the babies?
hugs, katie
You already sound in a much better frame of mind! Thank the Lord for Tony..meds both for dealing with stress and pain is a must, glad you now have them.
Great news about the storm, as you say rain you can deal with.
What day are you leaving..your vehicle likely kows it's way after all the trips you've taken.
Will post a few photo's in a bit..just off to make lunch.
Quilt is off the quiltng frame..bought fabric for order but decided I want black tone on tone, hard to find here so I will just set it aside and if I ant fnd it in our shops Monday I shall wait for 24th when I am in Buffalo.
Decided I'd organize myself in the craft room and play with a pattern of my Georgian Bay , see what glass I shall need, maybe cut out the paper pieces and adhere to glass, get a sense of what it shall look like in my leftover glass, if not suitable I will buy some.
Won't go to extreme in size but as with the piece I just finished for Suzanne for Christmas I will order with diachronic bevels.
Missy is laying next to me, purring away, who kows she might encourage me to put my head down next to hers.
I am sitting on the back patio in cloudy weather. We have had rain 10 days in a row. It seems if Katie gets rain, we get it about 4 days later. It would be a perfect day to do some gardening. I will have to see what the day beings. Vern, my DH, has Parkinson and is not up yet but will be soon. Then I get his breakfast/coffee and get the master bedroom straighten up.
I do have a doctor appointment Wednesday but just an appointment to get my prescriptions updated.
I am still fighting my cough. I am beginning to think it might be allergies but it sure is wearing me out.
Marilyn, when I pulled my hamstring, one of my most unpleasant tasks was getting my jeans on. Pure torture.
Katie, good luck with your hearings. So unkind on their part.
Betty, your black and white quilt is beautiful.
I am so far behind on the posts that I will have to start from today.
All of you please have a great day. With all the rain, we have ants everywhere in the landscape. Just little ants, thank goodness, but still ants.
Hugs, Sharon
Waving hi..water must just be sitting on the ground after 10 days of rain..yuk
Ants are bad this way this year as well, too much sand I think
Amazing even with one or two people in the house how disorganized it gets..at least you have a hubby to blame..lol
miss that, if it's messy it's because of me
hear that allergies are bad this year, hope meds work for you.
drats, downloaded some photo's of the babies, not in my pictures, where oh where did I put them..on a search
Sharon, TEN days of rain is PLENTY!! As Betty commented, seems this has been a banner year for ANTS!! Mind, here in Northern Canada they tend to stay OUTSIDE, but, a few do travel in on the dogs. Dislike seeing them scooting across a floor or counter, i break out the BIG GUNS, Raid Ant drops .. works like a charm.
Pulled hamstring and struggling into jeans would be as bad as my not being able to bend to pull them up, gawd, so frustrating !! I was finally able to get hold of a belt loop, held onto it for dear life til I had wiggled and jiggled and got the one pant leg up ...
Hope your DH is having a good day .. you're a wonderful mate ...
Betty, re the pics, look in 'documents', that's where most of mine end up !
DIM SUM was yum yum ^_^
Will definitely go back next Saturday.
Katie, good news on the meds, and, the weather, only UP from here, and, my thoughts will be with you on the 19th .. I'll be in the corner with the rest of us cheering "Go Katie GO"!!
Lorna is out cutting the grass today instead of tomorrow, she's been out there for almost 2.5 hours, has about another hour left .. I got the kitchen table DE cluttered, changed tablecloths, put the ROUND on my OVAL, and sat and taped the excess width underneath. The table will remain free of clutter until Gord comes home, it's his place for EVERYTHING .. I don't say anything anymore, kinda uselss, he's not going to change.
Going to go and fold some laundry and PERHAPS try to get the kitchen chair cushions off and wash them .. MAYBE .. trying to figure out how to attack that, I think if I sit in Lorna's wheelchair it might work a bit better for me, lordie, I have those babies tied on there but good !!!
Hugs all around

Light mist here and fog rolling in, just as well I stayed in my Jammie's.
You can tell when I've totally enjoyed my day, you see me in my night clothes.
Maybe Lorna an feel the rain n the air, wants to get it all dne before it starts.
Never tasted Dim Sum, I'm not adventurous when it comes to food..
Thinking of ordering chicken souvlaki but wondering how I can get it and still stay ready for bed, hate to get dressed at this time of night.
As for the catch all, hmmm, would have to say one drawer n the kitchen..everyone in awhile I clean it but takes but minutes and it's the same.
Not much on t.v. Unless I stay upstairs where all the movie channels are, watching Fried Green Tomatoes, Lordy I've watched it enough I should know the dialogue.
"M" was gabbing with Mel last night, mentioned that I have, not often but have seen us get snow for Halloween, can you believe that is next month..do you keep track?
One of my trips south we were camped with the r.v. And was travelling with the book 'Travelling I-75' and read no more than 10 or so miles was the town where it was filmed. I so enjoyed it, was just like a museum, all the buildings used in the show was still there, whistle stop restaurant offered green fried tomatoes..if any of you ever get that way, it's a must.
I'm rambling, must be getting tired!
'BEE CHARMER" LoL .. HUGE fan of the movie, Kathy Bates played a super character .. Big George was another wonderful character, 'It's all in the sauce' LoL (IKK)
Got the new tablecloth on and placemats, AND have 3 chair cushions in the dryer and 3 more in the washer .. there's another one somewhere, actually 2, danged if I know where the 2 chairs are ? Best check the garage.
Dim Sum is delish Betty .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dim_sum
The above link pretty much explains it .. the dumplings are made from rice paper/noodles, when steamed they go soft, the fillings are oh so good, shrimp, veggies, types of seafoods, my favourite is 'sticky rice', a short grained rice mixed with herbs etc and steam cooked in a lotus leaf .. YUM ~~
Gawd, I'll end up back again tomorrow hahaah
Kitchen drawers will be cleaned and re arranged before the Parkers come .. Mom is an 'all hands on deck' type of lady, so, she's into the fridge getting stuff and putting away, setting the table .. don't want her to open one of the infamous 'OMG drawers' LoL stuff in them ranging from hammers to spoons, forks to masking tape!!
All this talk of food and kitchens, I best get supper on the make, like it's a BIG deal, I ordered Lo Mein (Chinese Spaghetti) and bon bons (spareribs) for supper ..
Take it easy everyone

"M" do you think Ma Parker hasn't a similar drawer. Lol. Goodness almost tempted to open that drawer and see what is in it..know there is a set of wakie talkies..Hm thik I bought them for the kids when they visited and went out, doubt they are n fashion anymore, goodness wonder what is the oddest think in the drawer, tell me what it is in your and I will tell you what's in mine....too funny!
Best I can do is Chinese food, don't do seafood and the likes. Good old Ashton home cooking.
Light rain falling, co worker from the city was having family BBQ today, hope they don't have same weather.
I'm cleaning craft room, guess Debbie, you and I are in a cleang mood. Do it wile the mood strikes right?
Going upstairs..will sit and play cut-outs for the Georgian Bay scene I'm doing for Doug for Christmas, low key energy needed..will try my best to stay up at least till 9pm or I'll be up all night again!
Linda said she would come sew tomorrow on her quilt, if she doesn't and it's sunshine just might play in the gardens..
wow talk about bees, does that mean we are in for a long hard winter?
I'll have to tell you the 'wierdest' thing I have in the 'what not drawer' when I 'disembowel' it tomorrow LoL
Walkie Talkies are still in vogue with hunters .. Gord has a set as do the other fellas in his moose hunting gang .. just to keep in touch as they walk long distances in dense bush.
Chinese food was good, ate too much, likely have a dandy nightmare tonight .
Sure hope Smokey keeps his TALKING to a bare minimum tonight, one can only wish, it'd be so nice to sleep in past 7am !!
Much as I hate it, I am going to have to do my exercises ..
Sleep well all
Toodles
~M~
Katie - I'll be in that corner with ~M~, cheering u on, on the 19th!!
Betty - your quilts are always so lovely....... (hear a little bit of quilt envy? lol)
Last week at work was good.......... except one of the young fellows decided I was to be teased, unmercifully..... wanted to call me derivatives of my name, and my name is SUSAN, as I told him repeatedly...... repeatedly...... repeatedly....... and he's not listening. told him he's being very disrespectful to me. I then pulled a "very professional and quiet" mode on him. Actually, it made me cry the way he was pushing my buttons. Didn't help later Friday to hear about Pat's passing. It was not a great day. At one point he (our trainer) asked me why I'd made a specific mistake 4 days into the job. I told him that I'd done the rest of it properly, but missed the date...... he kept pushing, so I told him "I guess I was still stupid, 4 days into the job". he kept pushing, so I kept repeating this..... I just wanted him to quit pushing me.
Anyway - he was joking inappropriately with a fellow young man (also being trained - started same day as I) and I told them to be more professional in their job, "after all this is a workplace."
Hope he listens on Monday when our main trainer is back from vacation.......
Susan perhaps it was his way of trying to make you one of the team and meant no disrespect! work places are quite informal nowdays. Perhaps you were tired and that is why you found it overwhelming. I'd have had a comeback 'now that you are here to offer your expertise am sure it won't happen again' and give him the biggest smile,, he'd be eating out of your hand.
we are from the old school, hard for us to lighten up but believe me it makes life on the job a lot more pleasant.
Sending hugs
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready! I am up early, as I got a huge leg cramp, had to get up to walk it off, now I can't get back to sleep!
