Sounds good!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
it is..... very rich tho
dunno what I'm going to make tonight. Bob, last night, asked what culinary delight I was making that night.
On Saturday I have to have 6 pies made for our Church Bazaar sale..... and I have a sale table of my own. As Bob's truck isn't running, I have to pile everything into my car. It's going to be interesting....
Sorry to hear Bob's truck isn't working, sure hope it's nothing, serious. Never heard of toak in the hole, does sound yummy though.
Suzanne got to the office at 1:30pm, I was to drive her home but she had to do the driving..in so much pain I couldn't hold my head up, arm and neck not the best ..feels as though I've 10 suma wrestlers sitting on my shoulders!
Young Noah was suppose to be here after school, guess weather in high 70's waylaid him to do something else.
truck hasn't been working since beg of Nov - cost about $13k
Lordy Susan, you can buy an entire truck for $13,000
Must be the motor and body Job..
Went to Fabricland, bought oil cloth, tables nice and clean for a week or so lol
Back laying down.
Noah just called, said he forgot, can't come tomorrow but promises Friday, we shall see, at least he called!
Oh Betty, I think your pond cleaning from the weekend has more than caught up to you! Do you have any more of those
patches to put on your shoulders?
Noah calling is a big plus, most kids would just forget and ignore.
Sorry - I meant $1,300+......... and we can't afford to fix the truck
Betty, sitting here tapping my foot, and I hope the others will join me. You need to call the Dr. tomorrow! Something is not right, what ever they sad was wrong before has obviously gotten worse!
Linda Kay I am with you. Tried to talk to her but she is one stubborn woman. This is not "I worked to hard" as you have never been
a slacker that your muscles should be so sore...you are always working and using them. Something is WRONG. Don't make me call
Sharon.....or your sons!
Hello All !
Great Planning Marion! I am a Dave Ramsey fan... have you heard of him? He advocates just that....
Betty I don't know anyone in the South who does not have central heat and ac.... I suppose it is necessary. Agree with Deb.... maybe try a chiropractor or acupuncture... have 2 friends who swear by acupuncture for back pain although I've never tried it myself...
Susan... good to "see" you.... isn't it great how music lifts us up sometimes... I do think I've missed my cleaning/Disney songs weekends but it's hard to do when sun is shining...
We've had scattered Thunderstorms. Hubs says he can *hear* the plants growing.... Belle or most likely a critter got into a bunch of plants....some of Betty's seedlings and knocked my rubber tree plant in half... luckily with your seedlings Betty I've planted many in some different places so have "Back up" although I think I 'fixed' the ones in the pots. I tried to replant the rubber tree as with a cutting. Hope it works.
108 LK! Wow... I am unlike the others though... would rather 108* than snow I guess it's just what you know... Kudos Katie on getting the girls interested in sewing ! Do they think females should just keep house ?
Yes Dianne the more I think about it...a walk down the beach is practically as healing as a walk with you and Diesel ! And the condo has more shell finding opportunities for us. I have to call next week as I am asking a favor to get a room 2 nights (not the required week). It will be June 28th.
I'll be looking for some yummy recipes... coffee cake... breads muffins.... so if anyone wants to share please dmail me ! Also trying to cook in convection oven....
HUGS
Mary
I actually think I started putting money aside as I was not sure how I would live after Ross passed. Funny but he had been retired for 4 years and we survived and inside I knew I would have his pension coming. That was the reality but in the state of mind I was in...well let's just say I wasn't "quiet right"....thus saving to feel better. I am so glad I did as it soon became habit. Mary, yes I know who Dave Ramsey is...gives good advice!!
Started raining here mid afternoon and we are still having a steady rainfall.......the kind that really does some good. I can hardly wait to be release from the eye doc so I can get back working in my yard before it gets to hot. Brought back a bunch of coleus from my sister's house and want to get them in soon. My amaryllis have out done themselves with 23 huge blooms.
Getting tired and tomorrow is another busy day so it is off to beddy bye for me.
Ianakila, those are really nice! Where were you when I was still coordinating a Garden/craft show in Gainesville?
Lana - those are so pretty ! Are they barrettes? (spelling not right)....
Marion... can you post pics of your amaryllis ? I love those ... have the common one blooming and had a pretty pink/white in the front yard....but I'm anxiously awaiting a swap one to bloom for the first time... it's supposed to be orange?
I will have to have my DD send me the picture on her phone as the rains these past 2 days have beat them down. I have had these for about 6 years and only a few blooms here and there. Had planned to dig them this year but guess after their display, they will stay put! I don't know the names as a vendor from the festival I used to coordinate gave them to me as a gift. They are a bright red.
Morning..
Sunshine day in my neighborhood, got here 1/2 hr. late..actually took some meds that zonked me out as soon as I got home and didn't even hear the alarm. ooops never/ever late!
As for the doctor..pain is ongoing due to a bus accident about 28 years ago and a nerve that has lost it's casing and no cure...been told to limit activity in as much as I'm not to do anything with my arms above my waiste or I'll PAY mega time and we all know how well that works..it's ok also for everyone (meaning friends/family) to say you shouldn't be doing that but someone has to do it right..
I'll finish the work in the yard then that is all until fall.
The amaryllis I got from Crissy was gorgeous, I cut it down, have another set of leaves about 18" tall but no flower, not unusual though seeing as they only bloom once a year right?
Love the hair clips Lanakila, here's hoping they all sell
Marion, how did you ever find time to work on that committee??
They are barrettes (you spelled it right!) but folks call them "clippies" since they are made from what we used to use as roller clips. Now folks cover them with ribbons and charge a zillion dollars for them. I don't have kids, so I don't get it, but I'm happy to make them for friends. I don't think I could do shows, Marion. I'm dreading sitting in the booth all day on Saturday!
You and I are much the same, I don't mind making things, just not a seller, especially at a fair etc.
Good Morning!!
Betty, how are you this morning? Hope your feeling better, yep sure wish you would go to the doc.
Ohh, with your creativity, i am sure you will find a use for those scraps...
AWE!!! just love seeing photo's of Deisel as a wee puppy, I just want to cuddle up with him., look how big he's gotten! Will he grow some more or is this his size.
...was thinking about you big time yesterday, lol restacking wood!! We had our first outside fire the other night, it was wonderful and a great way to just relax.
Marion, sure hope the appointment is a good report. Good thinking on the savings!
Lanakila, wow your children's bows are adorable!!
Linda kay, yep sure do hate that..having to go in for results, i mean, geesh as long as no bad news, they should just call!
Oh my Gosh, We had to get drastic and terrorize Skittles last night!! Yep, for the last week we have been trying to get her nails clipped...she just knows and wouldn't stay put, didn't matter who was going to hold her she escape and stay way up high...lol smart bird. good gosh, she was getting stuck on everything, nails were so long. So, I put my leather glove on and coaxed her from her cuddle muff while she was half asleep, that was sort of the last resort, didn't know how else to capture her. Took all of 1 minute to clip and now she is much better...It was such a beautiful day yesterday, took her outside. She tries to chatter with the other birds, very fun to watch.
Waiving hiya Susan!! I was wondering where you were too...so good to see you post...yum sounds like some great cooking your doing.
Sure hope it's the last of the snow for you...
Hey Katie, so nice the girls are getting into sewing...Good luck with your curtains, I've got some i need to cut down to size, lol putting it off forever!
yay for the syphonnig.
Mary, waiving big time, Ohhh, you go girl and get that condo!! you might be surprised at the reunion. Since Ive found my friend Maria on facebook, we've stayed in touch via phone, txt...so maybe you'll rekindle with some people from your past!
Lets see, someone asked about Jake and cooking...He has been cooking at the stove since he was about 6, his first go was pancakes, then he graduated to eggs and sausage. For a long time he could only coordinate one thing at a time and now can feed up to 15 in one sitting..He does cook, with DH when he is in the mood, meaning friends are all busy, lol and when DH is away then he will create some rather fun meals, when he was small, i always told him he was going to have to teach me how to cook! His long term goal is to open a breakfast place. Anyway, yep, i do help when he asks, i make a great sue chef!
Well, you have all inspired me to get with the program and work in my yard! lots of clean up, so been raking, re-stacking wood and organizing all the JUNK in the yard. told dh we have way too much it just makes the yard look cramped and ugly cuz all you notice is the crap all over the place, grrr...plus yesterday got the entire deck cleared of debris and ready to seal again...So now later today or tomorrow, going to strip the rest of the white off the back of my house, it's the only wall left, for too many years i've put it off. it's the perfect weather to do it and i am hoping it will go pretty quick.
Debbie and Dianne, sure hope you both got that rash under control??
all right, got to go get some stuff done,
enjoy the day everyone!
Waving Judy, can see you working out back, you've a big yard to lots to do! Give it all you've got and get it done then you can sit and enjoy it's beauty..I can't live with junk, it has to be burnt or off to the dump or it drives me insane. Sometimes even my garden art starts to overwhelms me. Maybe you could pick the far side of your deck, side of house and neatly stack what Steve won't let you get rid of at least it would be out of sight when you are on the deck, even a tarp would help cover it up..did you get the greenhouse repaired? if not being used for greenhouse could you stack everything inside it?
Betty I was living in Gainesville for the first 15 yr. on the committee and that wasn't so bad. Also during this time Mom was a healthy very active person. After I moved it was more difficult but thanks to some really wonderful friends...it was okay. I stayed with them when I needed to be in Gainesville for several days prior to and during the festival. One is more like a sister to me than a friend. It was a good time but like all good times, there was a stopping point.
Lanakila, understand about sitting in the booth all day..ours was a 2 day event. Funny thing, there were a group of vendors who would "hire" some of the students from our Tote N Carry area to sit their booths so they could shoo...I suspect they made very little profit as they spent more on shopping. I must admit I really enjoyed getting to know so many great artist and still am in contact with many. In fact one of the jewelry people designed and made a necklace for my DD's 50th birthday present.
Well we are have another dark, dreary wet day and they say it is to continue until Monday. No outside doings for me.
Judy - we've had snow storms in Calgary at the end of May..... tree-breaking, snowball-making snow.... It will be gorgeous on Monday though 23c/73F. It isn't like Winnipeg where we'd get over 100F regularly..... kinda miss the long hot summers of Winnipeg. Not great for veggie gardening here.
well thanks Marion for sending me the sunshine!!
It's for that reason Marion I wouldn't work in a fabric/craft shop, likely I'd spend far more than I'd make lol
Must apologize to Suzanne, she seeing me here trying to find a way of sitting that I can anchor my head to ease pain and coming up with suggestions, one being doctor TODAY, boy I'm not nice when in this position, I'm snappy/snappy.
Just took pain killers, bundles up a jacket to put behind my head, got a foot stool to ease pressure in back/shoulders..
where is the rye????
*passing Betty some rye*
sorry to hear you're in such pain, Betty....
Drank that bottle Susan, think I need another!!! lol
Knew at this time of year I should not, key word NOT go to Swiss Chalet chicken for lunch seeing as the place that sells my metal art has new stock..yikes, bought a large pixie on a rock, not quite as much $$$ as my geese but up there..they also have a blue heron that is about 5' high..well I waslked out with the pixie..maybe after mothers' day I'll take the heron as well..
Now where to put her???
Betty I know you have been to your GP but have you or were you even at the time of the accident seen by a specialist? Even if you saw a specialist then another loook by an expert after all these years is certainly in order. Ask for a referral even to Barrie if you don't want to go to TO. Although the Orthopedic & Arthritic Hospital sure is a good one. That is where I will go when I weaken to have my next knee replacement.
Gorgeous day out. Heading back out now the sun is no longer directly above me. I am trying to remember sunscreen, a hat and not to stay outside for too long at 1 stretch just like the Dermo suggested. I would just hate to have to go through another session of chemo on my face.
LOL at thinking of me with your firewood restacking Judy. I love stacking wood - it means it is cut and split !!!
Considering I made my money doing the show circuit for many years I can tell you there is nothing worse than quiet in the hall when the show is on and there is nothing better than the rush you get when the show is popping. Met an awful lot of nice people over the years who all had wonderful tales to tell. AH Marion - booth sitting!!! Some vendors use them as they have no other choice and after 11 days in a row for 12 hours straight you are almost ready to kiss their feet when someone offers (for a healthy dollar I might add to boothsit) I rarely used them as they were expensive and often were just there to get money (which is admirable) and socialize with their friends. The offspring of fellow exhibiors were always the best to snag as they grew up on the circuit and knew how to work the booth.
Leaves and DIesel are calling so off I go. For whoever asked no this is not the most Diesel will weigh. He will grow for at least another year - albeit not at the rate he did his first year. He should weight in around 160 - 175 lb when he is finished. Don't think I need to worry about an intruder. People see him now and are intimidated. I don't let strangers know otherwise.
D
Dianne, the kids with the Tote N Carry group were from service clubs at the local school......our rules they could not charge only accept donations if booth owner wanted to do so. Other wise, the festival always paid a set $$ amount to the club for their projects. There are times I miss the adrenaline rush of the festival but not ofter any more.....found other things to excite me now. Mostly go by "granddaughter's activities" name. :-)
Strange day for me. I woke up about 4 am with an intestinal bug which kept me moving for several hours. I stayed in bed watching TV until about 4 pm. Feeling better I got up and washed dishes and did laundry, catching up on what I've let slide while I was working on the curtains. Now I'm tired and ready for bed again.
I'll be back tomorrow.
hugs, katie
Those fish are adorable! Just love them! I have seen some new clips with cute buttons on them (I have a button fettish) and
the ribbons dangling with little buttons on those also. My "little girls" are all grown up....but used to love those clippies.
When Shannon lost her hair, we used to do the decorations on little baseball caps for her. I kept them in a box...some just so cute.
My favorite we sewed lady bug buttons all over it...and a lady but ribbon on the front into a bow.
Katie, feel better!!! You have a had a rough couple weeks with virus.
Waving hello, hugs to all
Debbie
Google ribbon hair clips, there are lots of ideas.

Love, love, love the fish!!!! Those should really sell well....or they would down here.
Getting very concerned, our Miss Bessie Lou (that's right isn't it Debbie?) is missing. I hope she was able to seek some help to get some pain relief. DId I miss she was going somewhere after work? It sounds like she needs some more of those Rx pain patches. They do wonders but take about 12 hours to get into your system.
Aw Katie I hope you are feeling better now. How goes the battle with the curtains? Everything thriving outside that you and Tony planted? What a godsend you are to Tony and his family. I am tickled pink you are encouraging the girls and ladies to work independently not having to rely on someone with a pay cheque.
Mary when do you leave? Getting excited for you. Remember to take pics for us to see.
Oh LK that's a lot of ideas. Way too cute!! Sure wish I had someone to give these clips to........ You have a DGD don't you?
I've been a little agitated today and it dawned on me why .... I have been reliving this week last year with all of its horrors and emotions as you know. This was the night I had the confrontation with the resident who was covering Pallative Care and would not give my guy anything more for his pain. Of course now I would know to go over his head to Santa Warren's assigned Pal Care doc. I felt so sorry not just for my babe but also for the guy in the next bed who was going down the same path as SW, only he wasn't near as far along. I sure didn't want him to hear what was coming up for him., would scare him big time I am sure. They moved SW into a private room after this episode and the man in the room with SW sent his DW the next morning to find me to check on Warren but also to see if there was anything they could do for me. I'll never forget that kindness.
Diesel is all tuckered out..... just way too much fun outside today. When I took him for his early evening walk he was sticking right close even occasionally a few steps behind me he was so tired. Good to see him like that. Here's hoping he will sleep all night and not start to R & R at 3 am. I'll probably be awake as I am not sleeping again but I would like the quiet.
Are anyone elses' cats being very verbal this week? Sassy is being just that and quite loud about it too. Initially I blamed the full moon but that's long gone. Maybe the frogs get her all fired up.
Just a breakfast place for Jake??? I think that is an excellent idea. Lots of people out there who love to have a great breakfast even for dinner. I know I do. Now if you were Jake's sous chef what would he allow you to do?
Loons are cruising by the dock and letting me know they are there. Maybe with Diesel so tired I can slip out to commune with them for awhile. Black flies are starting... DARN!!! I would type something more expressive but I don't want to have to go to the naughty chair.
Oh Susan I was watching your weather report. (((Susan))). Given that weather your bake sale will be a welcome diversion. Love toad in a hole!!Mam used to make them some Sundays after church.
Debbie how are your itchies? I am positive it was the sap and fortunately it is clearing up nicely. Just what I need blisters at the edge of my glove line.
Barb did you sew your heart away again today? How is the Maple Syrup in your area this year? The first run here was outstanding the second and following runs not so stellar. Have you heard or talked to Thea lately? Tell her if you are I send a big hug.
OK going to go to bed and read for a bit. Hopefully the sunshine I got today, the lulling loon calls and the fact I have had hardly any sleep for days will do the trick and I will fall asleep quickly. Have a good book though, maybe I best look at a magazine.
Night all. Sweet dreams!
Dianne and Diesel
(((Dianne))) I remember you telling us of that occurrence at the hospital. That entire week was so so much, a heartbreak for you.
It is so normal...not that it makes you feel better....but very normal to relive that pain. I think it helps understanding in the long term.
We are here for you....remember that!!!
Now Bessie Lou was ranting about a bottle of Rye maybe? Goodness gracious I hope she isn't out dancing a jigg in the streets after tipping
back the bottle! BUT...as long as she was feeling better, it would be OK. Have a feeling she went home and went to bed.
My itches are still itching! I think some of mine are from the sun Dianne. I had my morning coffee out on the back steps...and although it was
very early, it was quite sunny. Sunscreen makes me break out just as bad!! I will be glad to see the allergist on Tuesday.....and SO SO happy
I hear things are done easier!
Sweet dreams Dianne and Everyone.....be careful I heard you mention bears out!!!
Figured or at least was hoping Debbie that you are right and Betty took some pain meds and conked out for the night. Sending prayers her way.
Enjoy your day everyone. It's Friday!!! I laugh at myself as I still get excited that its Friday just like I did when I worked. Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today.
DandD
Morning all,
Yes, Suzanne drove me home after I picked up my pixie metal art piece, climbed into bed and here I am debating if I should get up or not.
Might close my eyes again and see if I can sleep, be back in a bit!
Dianne, mega hugs coming your way
Hope you went back to bed Betty. How's the pain level this morning?
Good morning...
Glad to hear you are at home as snuggled into that bed Betty. I'm hoping you are still there and getting some rest.
Dianne, Norm and I were just talking last night about how it is almost one year. We think of you so often and still wish we lived closer. Is Diesel learning to leave the loons alone?
I talked with Thea yesterday and she is out straight with her sewing/quilting classes. She even took them on a road trip to a quilt show. Most of her ladies had never seen one. This teaching has been the making of her - it has given her purpose again since her children are grown. We talked a bit about getting together this year but no definite plans yet.
Debbie, I sure wish I had some advice for you regarding the itchies. The black flies are out and now I'm confined to the house most of the time because they poison me so badly. If I catch the bite right away, I use the After Bite and it helps. If I don't it is Benadryl - the only thing that seems to help at all. After that comes the white gloves so I don't scratch!!!!
Lanakila - those clipies are so cute. I too like the fish!!!
Marion it is great to see you post - please know my heart is with you.
Katie - slow and steady. Glad your curtains are finished.
Susan - glad to see you post too. Been missing you.
Judy - Jake is going to go far with his cooking. Our son Bob had the same dream and is now the owner of his own restaurant. He too just does breakfast and lunch. Tried dinner but it is just too much and too long a day. (He can be a control freak at times and felt he had to be there all the time it was open!!!)
Norm is off today so he is making me breakfast. Hope you all have a wonderful day.
morning all
did go back to bed, just up ready to enjoy the day..will make it a light day and hopefully start to heal
will be a gorgeous day, high of 77, will just putter around doing a lot of nothing but achieving something I am sure.
Young Noah did come last night, left me a note that he'd be back tonight after school..I will have to leave a note as to what I need done as I get my perm at 3:00..efforts into raking should be done today and edging and weeding starts..I can weed and Noah can edge the gardens...deep sigh..will be so nice
bet Dianne you are saying the same.
Your emotions will for all the years to come react to certain events/days..after 21 years of losing Roger I can give you word for word of what was said, of reactions, of pain, they never do leave..you just try to be brave, fill in the days and remember all the good times. you will without knowing why become agitated and you will sit and think and all of a sudden you will say 'oh yes' and remember what has brought the sadness..it's a hard road but one you will travel with many..all are here to hold your hand.
Bet you've had your coffee and heading outside to please Diesel..enjoy!
Nasty bug you have Katie, a few more days resting won't do you harm..perhaps you should get it checked..while typing here they were talking about Slave the guitarist who died of liver failure..seems it was caused by spider bite..yikes remember my forehead and i thought it was from a spider? let's hope you get up and able to enjoy the day.
Anxious Lanikila to hear what your thoughts are of the craft show..love your pieces, wish I had little girls
I could order a few..
LindaKay, how is the heat wave?
Debbie, my heart goes out to you if you've sun allergy! Are you finding when you go inside do they tend to sit under the skin and come out immediately when out in the sun? There are meds that I could take that would help but bad for kidneys so its damned if you do and damned if you don't so I just put up with it..luckily because my face is constantly exposed to the sun, it doesn't break out.
coffee time
Barb, think its been a hard year or two for you as well, a road trip would be great for you and Norm! hope you can put one together..
Crazy dreams, woke up this morning, Darlene/Ann and I were travelling to Judy's to surprise her. we decided to leave my car at the border and take a train..asked the conductor the closest place to get off, he said right now so off we went only to realize we left all our baggage on the train, no purse, no money, no telephone number to call
wonder what brings these things to mind to dream of them???
photo I posted above is my 3' metal fairy..I usually buy 1 or 2 pieces per garden season..ordered a blue heron as well..now for her to rust to look her best.
