lol..don't think you get insulted that easily.
Just finished sewing together another black/white quilt top, now to find out what size bed Mel and Greg have so I know if I've a few more rows to add
So funny, girls are at my house sewing, all were surprised but happy that I took a table out to give them more room as June said they were cramped, think they would be upset if they knew June asked that it be removed so just said I wanted to reorganize lol
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
Oh Mary when Debbie mentioned Benadryl it reminded me that years ago the pharmacist told Santa Warren to take it when he was having trouble getting to sleep. Apparentlly it has quite similiar to gravol.
Can you see the fire coming out of my ears????? GRRRRR!!!!! I Awhile ago I heard what sounded like a tree falling. I trudged down the hill to the lake and sure enough the beaver took out another lakeside tree. We worked so hard to save those trees when we built the house to give us privacy I hate to see them lost to beavers. I have already told Debbie to plug her ears and close her eyes for a few seconds but the local trapper said it is too late in the season to trap and the only recourse I have is to shoot them until he can return in the fall.
Glad you got see my little guy Diesel. There is 1 pic I think on my FB page of just his face .... it is so sweet. Diesel is very well behaved Betty and doesn't pull me around when he is on the leash. He is on the leash so rarely as we are always here and he can't stand me being out of his sight. If I do round the corner of the house I hear him high tailing it to find me. Some days its is sweet - some days it is just a bit too much. lol
How sad Dianne, know how much those trees mean to you!!
Few years ago lost one in a storm and just wanted to sit and cry!
I must have planted about 16 trees over past several years to compensate should I lose one or two..amazes me just how fast they grow
That's it. That's my sweet faced little guy! Imagine what he will look like a year from now. Thanks Debbie.
He sure is one hug'able dog, can see he's not spoilt lol
Not at all Betty, not at all. He's such a good boy and quiet too that I have a hard time disciplining him but I know I would have a monster on my hands if I didn't. Other than counter surfing and shoving his rope in my face so I will tug it there really isn't much misbehaving.. I am very lucky!!
He is beautiful Dianne as are you. I am constatnly amazed at how big a dog can get so quickly!!!! Glad to hear he is good for you......
How old is he now Dianne?
LOL! Counter surfing!
11 mon. yesterday.
Pretty well finished his growing isn't he..I've been lucky, never had a dog that counter surfed..Sailor loved getting into garbage bags (think once she ate my roast and got scolded and that was it) Chico, St. Bernard wouldn't let me take the garbage out ..they all have their own personalities don't they!
Off for lunch
Large dogs usually grow until 18 months of age.
Diesel looks like one giant lover! Bet he's rotten, rotten, rotten. We adopted a beagle about a month ago and I've yet to take any pics of her. I'd better get on that!
Reunions: Thank goodness for Facebook. Anyone I want to keep in touch with is on there. We can watch our families grow, laugh about old times, and continue to keep in touch just fine that way. No doubt that if we were to travel within a reasonable distance of each other we'd certainly stop by for a visit.
Counter surfing: Hahahahahaha! I've never had a dog that did that, and my cats aren't interested in the counters. Now trying to keep a kitty off of a table is a whole other ball of wax. I have four cats and two dogs...all very, very, very "house" animals. One drop of rain and you'd think the dogs would melt. I think Scuba, my older dog, has actually held her business for more than a day because she didn't want to get wet. What a mutt!
A girlfriend of mine does a little nature photography in her back yard. She's been asking me for a year to put up a booth with her at a craft fair or flea market. I finally committed and so we are doing it at the fairgrounds flea market here on Saturday. I decided to make hair clippies/bows, since they are small and pretty easy to make. 'Course I waited until the week of the event to get started, but that's pretty much par for the course for me. I work best under pressure. :) I'll post pics as I get a small collection done. Unfortunately, this is keeping me from messing around in the yard after work this week. Oh well, Sunday's coming and I have a big box of new bulbs that I got from Susie's April swap.
Would love to see your fur babies too!
Thank you all for the pics of Diesel... he is a beautiful big baby ! Love his markings....the two light brown 'dots' seems like several dogs have those....
Debbie - I am really shy deep down inside... I think I'm interested in the reunion because I was such a rebel when I graduated... I left town for a school no one else was going to and lost touch with everyone... So maybe I'm hoping to find a lost part of myself.... plus...
well... the BEACH excuse doesn't hurt.... You and Betty come join me as I'm talking myself into getting a condo... they are just the same price as the hotel room anyway LOL....
I'll leave Hubs home and we'll have a girls weekend LOL... everyone can come down ! :o)
Dianne... Too funny Benedryl was my Mom's "Fix all"....
Sad about the tree... We have planted a lot of trees here but Hubs likes to plant them very small (think Charlie Brown Christmas tree) so we will never live to see them get big....
I'm trying to make my own essential oils... mixed coconut oil with eucalyptus (front yard) and about to go strain it and bottle it... that coconut oil feels really good on the skin.... found 333 uses on the web for it....
Happy Tuesday all ! (HUGS)
Mary
Morning all,
Sunshine day here, believe it should reach a high of 72!
Mary, wouldn't that be something if we could have done it..enjoy your weekend thou..think so us as you walk the beach. 333 uses? Lordy you better makes Tripple batch
You virtually can see the grass get greener, might soon get to use that riding lawnmower. Young Noah called last night and said because of the light rain he'd come tonight to help ..if I push myself this week should have gardens raked and edges then just have weeding to do..weather says it will cooperate.
Best of luck at the flea market Lanika, look forward to seeing both your sale item wares and your furries
Glad to see your finally warming up Betty, we are supposed to reach 108 today! Think I will stay inside. All my plants have been watered this morning, so they should be OK!
Linda Kay....is that a typo? 108? WOW...and Denver Colorado has snow!!!
Sun is fighting to come out here, a bit over cast.
My coffee pot is beeping at me...so will be back.
Have a good day!!!
Love the photo LindaKay..
108, drats I'll pick snow anyday, those temps would about do me in!
Suzanne is in Toronto as is Paul today so the boardroom is set up to iron, the smaller boardroom has my sewing machine set up so it will be a hard day at the office.
Those girls yesterday left $$$ again, keep telling them it's a no/no but they insist so at lunch I'll run over to Fabricland and buy 10 yards of oil table cloths with a nice design on it and make the craft room look a little nicer..I'll teach them lol
Debbie how are your hands, did the rash finally go away?
Had Paul and Suzanne not been in the city think I'd have taken a sick day and joined Dianne and Carol who left at 7 this morning for a fabric shopping day in Buffalo
The rash is better, little bubbles still on the thumb but the benedryl is drying them up. Improving
77 predicted for here today. Good thing as I found out yesterday I have to replace the A/C system. Of course it is 22 years old so I don't think I can really complain. Wait!! I can complain if I want to...:-)
Of course Marion, it could have broken down in the winter when you didn't need it so much and could take time repairing. Yes, you can complain!
Ohhh Marion is it a built in unit to a furnace? or a regular window a/c
either way it's mega $$$ but so worth it.
I bought a portable one that you just move around in the house because I didn't want to keep asking the boys to put it in a window then take it out..if I quit sewing/travelling I could have Greg install one in my furnace..do I want to/do I want to????
Unlike you guys in the south it might just be a few weeks of extreme heat so I always seem to pass on that idea
It is 2 units as my house has 3 levels. Essentially it is central heat and air. Fortunately I will be able to have them installed soon as the really bad heat hasn't started so far. I also have to have all the duct work replaced as it is crumbling and will eventually start dripping from condensation due to their condition. Yes, $$$ but I did plan for such things happening knowing we bought a house built in the early 70's. We had had the house about 3 months when it was due for it's annual service check and I learned the age of the units then.....made myself put aside monthly into an account for future repairs. Only time in my life I have really done that but having just been widowed, it scared me and I started the "emergency" account.
Looks like we might be in for some stormy weather today. Getting really dark outside and windy. Oh well, still have to work inside until I see the eye doctor on Thursday. Could be worse.
Wise lady Marion, very wise lady. A lot of the young couples now starting out only care about what the house will carry for every month and don't think ahead. Maybe it was the way I was raised and the fact we lived in an old, rickety farm house but even before I bought my first house I set a few dollars away every month into a House account. Over the years it has come in handy several times - there were a couple of times we had major house expenses and I don't know what we would have done without that account.
Where's Susan?
Just came inside from outside - raking away and starting to weed the beds I have raked. I have managed to catch Debbie's itchies. I have no idea what it is but I sure have a mess right above the top of my glove line. Blistering nicely so will get some Benadryl into me. I wrapped a couple of more trees and it might have beeen the sap off of 1 of them. One of the reasons I came in was Diesel just found himself a dead muskrat carcass and thought he was going to eat it. And the vet wondered why I wanted to worm him!!!!!
Mary you take that condo!! Pamper yourself.
Oh my LK I would perish in 108*. I am very happy with 60's and 70's. Could really take that year round if I had my druthers. Does Luna want to go for a walk in the heat?
Lanakila enjoy your show this weekend. The social aspect of being on the show circuit is the one thing I miss the most. Crazy customers and crazy exhibitors always made for a fun filled day.
Guess I should have some breakfast or seeing the time lunch. How does extra old cheddar, garlic dills and crackers sound? Those pickles are calling my name from the fridge!
Dianne, I wonder if you are on to something with the trees? I was helping DH trim a couple along the back line. I have what I call a "fake" honeysuckle, that grows up high and into the tall evergreen scrubs. Also wondering if Izzy was in there and I picked up something off of her. Can't keep her out of the back bushes....she likes to talk to the critters!
Marion, wonderful that you thought ahead or it would could have been disastrous!
Living in the south you just can't do without a/c
how very odd Dianne/Debbie that both of you have come down with similar rash..you'll both have to take photo and compare...hope benedryl does it's thing.
Suzanne just called, court ended early for her so she should be here by 2pm..
Sitting here watching a show, cutting up strips from scrap bag..must be able to make something from them..once organized I'll go on-line looking for scrap quilt throw pattern.
Good morning everyone. I'm working at keeping my nose to the grindstone and getting my curtains done and up. The animals curtains are up in the front bedroom. They need to hand for a while, then be lined and hemmed. Progress not perfection. I'm doing the valences for the back bedroom.
Had the A/C on for several hours yesterday. Today is cooler. I have a dehumidifier that I bought last year but haven't used much as I could not get the draining tube to work. Bought a small cheap siphon on eBay and it works fine. Tony and I had both failed to get the drain that came with the unit to work so we exchanged a high five over the siphon.
Tony said the girls and women are delighted with the fabric and patterns. Ther is a ot of cultural resistance to women working and earning money (except maybe by house cleaning) and many women resengt having to work at all outside the home. Working with the girls while they are young may be the best way to change this. Then maybe some of the mothers will follow the examples of their daughters.
I must get back to the sewing machine.
hugs, katie
Hey Katie, glad to hear the ladies enjoyed the fabric and patterns.
Betty, look at this, maybe you have enough for this pattern?
http://carterquilter.wordpress.com/2009/05/24/scrappy-maple-leaf-quilt/
Lots of patterns here too...
http://carterquilter.wordpress.com/tag/free-scrap-quilt-pattern/
Lots of choices LindaKay, tks
I've lots of yellow/blue tones..
Likely from my French Cafe teapot quilt I made last spring, a few yards of base color and I should at least get a throw out of it..trying to use all that misc.scrap fabrics just sitting in bags
Hi Dianne - I lurk now and then....... not on chat much
Hey Susan, there you are! How is your weather? Is it warming up for you? How are you doing on your quilting?
not doing any quilting now - weather's up and down. had snow yesterday, and will be 21c on Sunday.
it's sun & cloud now
I saw a snow storm moving over the norther part of the country, did not know if you got any of it or not! Some places got like 14 inches last night!
Crazy weather this year!
And we are supposed to hit 108 today!
we got rain/snow mixed and it was nasty to drive in Bob said, but only a skiff of it stayed on the deck.
it's 8c now.... good
I'm spending a lot of time cooking and baking - made a traditional Toad In The Hole yesterday - Bob took some to work for lunch, and I'm having a late lunch of it now.
went to Spruce Lodge (senior's residence) today for a church service - we do this once a month and I'm in the choir. We sang "A Closer Walk With Thee" and that cheered me up some.
Toad In The Hole?
I love that song, it cheers me up too!
Toad In The Hole is a traditional English food.
Fry up some sausages, put them in a pre-heated oven-proof dish, the pour a batter over all.
The batter puffs up, and when it's golden, it's done.
The sausages I did were rather large, so they were more than "peeking" out from the batter, but it was so good! The batter is rather like a yorkshire pudding - lots of butter, eggs and milk.....
